I visited Pita Shop today with my daughter, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We ordered the shrimp kabob platter with yellow rice and a side Greek salad. My daughter ordered the chicken shawarma with a side of wings. To start, absolutely nothing looked like the pictures presented on the menu, which was already concerning. The shrimp had no flavor at all -- not even a natural seafood taste. I have never had shrimp so bland. The yellow rice was just okay, nothing special. The Greek salad and pita bread were honestly the best parts of the meal. I also ordered a cup of lentil soup. While I love garlic, this soup had an overpowering garlic taste that made it hard to enjoy. It was very watery and mostly liquid, with only a few small pieces of carrots. My daughter couldn't eat much of her chicken shawarma because the garlic aioli was so pungent that it overwhelmed everything else. The wings were clearly frozen and deep-fried, with too much fat. We ended up eating the wings and cold fries simply because we hadn't eaten all day. Overall, the food quality was very disappointing. I just hope we don't get sick from the seafood. I should have paid more attention to the fact that there wasn't even a cooked food smell in the restaurant when we walked in. Sadly, this was not a good experience for us. read more

The owner was helpful navigating through a few of their specialty items. Ordered the loaded lamb gyro. Took a seat near the window gazing at the artistic vibrant wall mural proudly depicting the Pita Shop name with gyros and shawarma against a drift wood background (see pic). The gyro was massive with lean strips of lamb with plenty of onions and tomatoes but the white tzatziki sauce excited my taste buds with every bite. The doors of the gender assigned bathrooms continued the vibrant mural decor. The inside was clean with basic design. I stopped by here for a lamb gyro. I recall visiting this place about a year or two ago and the people were much more friendly then. There were two guys behind the counter who seemed chill and were waiting for me to decide. One took my order and asked if I wanted a side of fries or salad. I declined because the gyro itself was enough for me as expected later on and I didn't want any leftovers. I was paying while he was on the phone, which by all means, is no sweat. No, one thing I will say about the pizza shop they do got some reasonable prices for the lamb chops because normally the other places you go to grab lamb chops is about 50 $60 for three pieces but over here it's about $18 for 56 pieces so I will send that about the pizza shop. We also decided to try their Greek salad and Greek fries. Hubs ordered Chicken Shawarma, which came with a small salad as well. The staff member taking our order was very friendly and told us our food would be ready in about 15 minutes. We decided to go grocery shopping in the meantime. Tzatziki sauce sauce was ok, I personally like it to be thicker was was a little watery. My other gripe is there gyros don't have any french fries in them which is a miss. I had this place bookmarked after seeing a lot of good reviews and decided to grab a bite to eat with my oldest daughter since I was with her. My husband and middle daughter are not that adventurous and didn't want to come... their loss. I would have never ordered it because I could never get past the thought that it's lamb. However, now that I've tried it, I wouldn't be afraid to order it. I live in the area so when I saw this place being built I was excited to try a fast casual Greek spot. Enter a year and a pandemic later, I finally made it! The only downside is im sorry I waited so long! All the reviews speak for themselves and the pictures look mouthwatering. The hardest part was determining what would be my first to try on the menu! The hummus is super creamy and the tzatziki is super flavorful. Also, I like salad, but I can't say I've ever been so excited about a side salad before. Stopped by on my lunch break and was very impressed with the chicken kabab here. The chicken was juicy and tender, the seasoning really made the dish. The rice was also really good, I liked how they had the pita on the bottom of my container it soaked up some of the juice from the chicken and gave the pita an extra kick. I feel like I have so many people to thank for a wonderful impromptu Sunday dinner here. The girl that recommended this place, the Yelpers who gave this place solid reviews, the staff member at the counter who recommended the Hummus with Mushroom, the cooks who created the delicious dishes we had, then took part of home to enjoy again. "Between the Hummus with Mushroom and Hummus with Shawarma, which would you recommend?" [Immediately without hesitation:] "The Hummus with Mushroom, no doubt. The mushrooms are seasoned with this special sauce that's really good." The man was absolutely right. The sautéed mushrooms on top of the creamy hummus had so much savory flavor, I wanted to put them on everything! Thank goodness they just give about 8 quarter cuts of pita with the hummus because I can eat 3 entire loaves of pita with just this hummus. We waited for a little bit for our orders to come out, but everything was made incredibly fresh. The kibbeh (2 per order) was piping hot, with the ground beef filling surrounded by bulgar coating just thick enough to have a slight crisp. I had the Chicken Shawarma Platter with fries and house salad. The salad was refreshing with its vinaigrette, kalamata olives, feta and chopped onions, cucumbers and tomatoes making the dish effortlessly Mediterranean and more interesting than a typical plain house salad. The fries were thick cut and dusted with cajun seasoning, making them a wonderful dish on their own. They were tasty even after reheating, owing to their thickness! The chicken shawarma was a little dry in some pieces despite the copious amounts of oil used on them, but that was improved with the moisture of the tasty garlic sauce that came with the dish. I took half of my platter with me, and it was still good to eat when reheated the next day! Decided to go here for lunch since we in the area. We had already eaten at there other restaurant in Pembroke Pines. The menu is almost identical, the service is good, and the food is just as good. We came in for a light, late lunch. My wife had a falafel burger with fries and extra pickles. Steak fries, awesome! I know she really liked the burger, since she eat almost the entire thing. The only thing she didn't like was, they were out of ketchup! No excuses Walmart grocery store is five hundred feet away across the parking lot. Now me, I had a chicken shawarma wrap, I was going to get as a whole wheat pita, but they were out of whole wheat pita bread. The wrap, more like a whole wheat chicken shawarma burrito, it was awesome, they should rename it on the menu! So what keeps me coming back, aside the food, is the people. They're super nice when you first walk in and they make you feel welcome every time you come back. The food is made fresh in front of you. The lamb gyro is amazing. Super tender, gyro wrap is soft and warm. The soups are really good too. They have a lot different items on the menu, from pita to fish, from steak to chicken. All the food taste fresh. If you walk in order you will have to wait a little bit. 10 mins top on a busy day. And it does get busy around dinner time, so you may want to order online for pick up if you don't want to wait around the place that long.
