Friday night, pizza night. Being new to the area, we had no idea where to get our pizza fix from, so we followed yelp advisors and ordered a small veggie and a small cheese from Sunrise Pizza. Meh. Compared to the many other slices I've had throughout the tri-state area, I was underwhelmed. I love me a good veggie pizza and I'm all about healthy eating, but this really was just slight cooked broccoli, raw zucchini and diced tomatoes on a bit of dough. No salt, no pepper, no herbs - bland, bland, bland. A bit of Parmesan ended up doing the trick, but paying $20 for essentially raw vegetables left a bad taste in my mouth. Next Friday, Pizza Station. This place charges you based on how much they think they can get away with. I work on the same street as this pizzeria, and a few weeks ago I got lunch here only to find I'd been overcharged by quite a bit. It seems this place will round up to the nearest dollar if you look like you won't notice. As a teacher, I definitely notice. I mentioned this overcharge to my coworkers and they all relayed similar stories. I asked my students (I'm a teacher) what their experience with the place was and they said that they would be charged different amounts for the same lunch on different days. This place rips off children too. If you really must go here, ask for a receipt and check it against the menu. And it was the owner who ripped me off, so don't expect much to change anytime soon. read more

Great local pizza joint with amazing sauce, a perfectly dense and crispy crust, and interesting toppings - like chicken parmesan pizza. It's a little on the pricey side, but well worth it, especially when you get to California where they have no concept of what this stuff is. read more

This...Is a guilty pleasure. Guilty, because pizza is supposed to be glutinous. Pleasure? Because the pizza is very good. However, it is over priced. Yes, the town of Rye is expensive. But based on the quality of ingredients and pizza serving size, it is 35% over priced. This bothers me. However, back to paragraph one. It is consistently good. Their slices are delicious! Their bacon in the chicken bacon ranch slices are amazing. The bacon is crispy- not one piece fatty and gross and their slices are not super oily and gross which is rare to find. The people are very friendly too! read more

I have been going to Sunrise since 1981. I grew up in Rye in the 70s to late 80s. The pizza is just as good as it was back when I first started going there. I lived in PC, Harrison and now Poughkeepsie. I work in Westchester and all that time I would and still only go to Sunrise. They are a great bunch of folks and the pizza is just to good. Best pizza is made fast by very nice employees. I was a regular before moving from NY and always make sure to stop in when I visit. Nothing complicated but just great, fresh food. Typically tons of parking right across the street behind the bank if not on the street itself. Rye is very high-rent with a charming historic downtown. Yes, everything cost a little more-even pizza. Worst place ever for 3 reasons: 1) Doesn't accept debit/credit cards, but "conveniently" offers an ATM machine (with a $1.5 fee). Seriously? After paying almost $5 a slice I don't feel like paying extra for you to accept my card 2) Hygiene isn't their strongest feature: one can clearly see the "grease tears" on the wall and floors, while the oven operator cleans the sweat off his forehead and touches your pizza with the same (unwashed) hands! 3) The pizza is really greasy, to the point of getting you disgusted after the 2nd bite. I was in Rye for an appointment and thought I would stop in for a slice. I had two slices of pizza and a soda and the bill was $11.30 - cash only. The counter person did not ask me what size soda I wanted so they gave me the large - partly my fault, as I should have specified. The pizza was tasty but greasy. When I was leaving the owner asked me how I liked it and I gave him my honest opinion. Too expensive for what it was and he doesn't take credit cards. He did not seem concerned and told me just how expensive the cheese was that he used. Sorry - I live in Manhattan and can get better pizza at a lower price and put it on my credit card. I purchased a salad from here and it smelled like cologne. In fact, the entire restaurant smells like cologne. So, stay away.

I really enjoyed the chicken carbonara pizza and the talking to that my husband got from the owner to ensure that he didn't screw up the "beautiful pizza" by tilting the box as he left. One slice was more than enough though and the owner had also talked us in to getting the larger size because it was only a dollar more. We will have pizza for a week. read more

My family drives up to Maine every summer from DC, and we randomly stopped here for a lunch break one time. Best decision we ever made. Seriously, this was the BEST pizza any of us had ever eaten. We now make it a point to stop on the way to and from Maine, picking up extra slices. Our favorites are the Sicilian (square shaped) and just the plain cheese, but they have a huge variety of slices too! The service was friendly and the atmosphere feels good. read more

Bronx pizza lovers: this may not be the same as the slice you had in the day, but it's perfection. Have the grandpa's pie - pure and simple.
