My wife and I stopped in here for a few slices, and it was great! We has a few slices of the Focaccia pizza and 1 slice of Lasagna pizza. My wife thinks doesn't like pizza, but she does like GOOD pizza, because she loved the pizza here. The Focaccia pizza reminded me of my grandmother's homemade pizza. Great, fresh-tasting chunky sauce and soft dough with a great crust. No cheese (just like focaccia) but a few basil leaves on top that added to the fresh taste. I could eat this pizza every day. The lasagna pizza tasted just like lasagna. Really good, but I was too hung up on the focaccia to eat too much of it. The prices were good, especially considering the slices were huge. Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. Granted I'm a west coaster, but every time I'm even remotely close to Rye, I make of point of grabbing a slice.... or two. The options seem to be endless, but you always have to go with at least one classic cheese slice. Though on my last visit, I tried the Chicken a la Vodka, which was mind blowingly good. I went back to Sunrise recently and was unpleasantly surprised at what I witnessed. For starters, one of the guys handling the food was also doing payments, touching credit cards, etc. and the food without any apparent handwashing in between. He also had his mask on below the nose, nostrils exposed, breathing onto the food as he served it. After I paid, I moved over to the end of the counter to pick up the pizza, and from that angle I could see that the guy making the pizzas was not wearing a mask at all, open mouth and nose right up in the dough, sauce and cheese of the pizza he was preparing! Feeling sick to my stomach, I headed out with my pizza. Have they forgotten that we're in a pandemic? Why won't they adhere to the most basic public health requirements? Our favorite pizza in Rye. If you like thin crust Italian style this is the place to go. We order margarita as the quality is so great simple is best. We order take out and also since Covid have been going for lunch and sitting on the nice outside picnic tables that are kept clean. GOT FOOD POISONING HERE Both my husband and I had awful food poisoning after picking up a pizza here for dinner. Their pizza has always been on the greasy side, but this time it didn't taste quite right, so we threw it away. When I rang the following day to tell them we'd had food poisoning, they became very defensive, offered no apology and instead insisted we must have the flu. This was the only meal we had shared that day and as our symptoms appeared at exactly the same time within 1-2 hours after eating, it was clearly the pizza and not the flu. I was staying at the Doral Doral Arrowwood in Ryebrook, NY and needed a late night pizza. The hotel said Sunrise was open until 4am. Now when you're ordering a pizza at 2am you know you're not going to get the best food, but you should be able to get something hot and greasy that will keep a potential hangover at bay. However what we received was a disgusting mess. Cold, terrible sugary sauce, and lackluster roni. Also, only Pepsi available. Come on!
