I prefer the Starboard for breakfast but was super hungry when I woke up at 7am and didn't want to wake my friends cooking that early. Sunrise was only place that was open and only one block from my house. It's a diner and abit pricey ($6 for breakfast sandwich!), so don't expect eggs Benedict, pastries, fruits, etc... For the best value, get the short stack pancakes with two eggs ($6.25 if I remember). We were very pleased with our meal (get eggs fried, not scrambled). Nice to see they have scrapple too! A side includes two big portions of deliciousness. I've never eaten lunch here, so can't comment on lunch items. This place is not open for dinner. Wish it was open late night after the bar closes for breakfast! They would make a mint if it was open. read more

We went looking for breakfast our first morning in Dewey last month and came upon Sunrise. Parked right in front, sat down and were immediately shown a menu and offered drinks. Drinks came and we ordered from the mostly omelette menu. I also ordered a side of scrapple and my wife, some bacon. Our food (we both ordered omelettes) came out in no more than 5 minutes (the place was fairly busy!) The omelettes were huge. The sides were huge. It all was quite tasty. My wife could only eat half of her omelette. The waitress told us that the owner's motto is "people come to eat, not wait!" People sat outside at tables with their dogs and were presented with water bowls. We went back every morning the rest of the week, although we ordered smaller meals. What a great little place! We walked there from our airbnb with our dog and had a delightful breakfast! The portions are large, food is delicious, coffee is great and we even tried the homemade spinach soup with our breakfast which was a-ma-zing! We sat outside which was also nice especially since it was the end of February. We met the owner Rob, who actually waited on us, and he was such a personable guy! A friend & i had breakfast on a friday, sat outside. service was good. i had a gyro omelet, my friend had a spinach & feta omelet. also ordered coffee, OJ, toast. The omelets were huge, came with home fries, which weren't crispy but still good. The omelets were both tasty. The wheat toast & OJ were good but the coffee was mediocre. We said something to the waitress but she didn't seem to care at all or ask the people waiting in line to move outside. So, overlooking plastic plates, plastic coffee cups and a bill of $21 for a total of 4 eggs & 2 cups of coffee, the eggs were cooked correctly and the toast was toasted. That's about it. When we asked for butter, from the slow moving, nonchalant server, we received some kind of "creamery spread" packaged by Land O'Lakes. OK, so is that a deal breaker? Not really. The place, however was half-empty (or half-full depending on your opinion) so it wasn't an oversight due to a rush. We had to ask for butter for our toast? When finished, after visiting the disgusting bathrooms, we waited for the bill. Our server stood less than 10 feet away from us hanging out in the kitchen staring out the window. We waved--nothing. While out walking the dog, we were planning to stop at Sunrise Restaurant to grab some breakfast to go. We were so excited to discover that they have a dog friendly outdoor eating area! It's just some casual cafeteria tables, but it was so nice to bring the dog to breakfast! The portions to the prices were really fair for the beach. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette ($10.85) that came with potatoes and two slices of rye toast. My mother ordered a breakfast sandwich on ciabatta that was the size of two sandwiches, and my dad enjoyed his bagel sandwich. It was $27 for three people. While it was mostly standard diner food, it was all prepared well. They take credit card, but using cash is much much faster! read more

We used to love this place. It is just a hole in the wall restaurant. The location is just where you make the hard turn on The Coastal Highway into Dewey Beach. We haven't been there since before the Pandemic. I'm currently in a wheelchair, and the first thing we noticed is that it is not wheelchair accessible. My wife asked if there was another entrance,and was told no. The manager/owner just walked away from her. They were very busy, and shorthanded like everyone else, so we gave them a pass, and decided to sit outside. However, all the tables except the one that was occupied, had not been cleaned off.My wife had to go back in and beg for someone to bus a table. We finally got coffee ( not very good at all ). A few minutes later the waitress came to take our order, we had to remind her that we hadn't been given menus. The menus were a confusing. I wanted to get a Gyro, but there were two different ones. The first was a Gyro sandwich; meat, pita, lettuce, tomato, yogurt sauce for $11.95. There was also a Gyro platter. Gyro, pita, lettuce, tomato and yogurt sauce for $13.95. When the waitress finally came back, I asked was the extra $2.00 was because the platter had fries. That would make sense. She had to go ask, she returned to say the platter had pita! I pointed put to her, both descriptions were identical except for the price. She returned once again to the manager, who told her it is what it is. So I guess the big difference is one has a platter. Is that worth $2.00 ?? So we paid $ 7.00 for our terrible coffee in battered plastic mugs, and left. We did give her a $3.00 tip. We has tried to talk to the manager, but he was too busy. We later found out,the owners were new,which explains alot. It's a shame, it was always a fun little place, with good food. Not so much anymore. I would stay away from the place. This was our first time here. There was a table available immediately. Waiter was very attentive. We ordered the short stack pancakes with eggs over medium with well done bacon. No frills breakfast right on the edge of Dewey going into Rehobeth. (Dewey is like 5 blocks long though, so you'll be fine walking). Cheap. Coffee is in the smallest cups ever. Water in the largest styrofoam cups ever (that they are happy to refill for you and provide a lid). Big omelets.
