A new breakfast place for us during our Rehoboth stays. It's a modern, friendly atmosphere. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table on a mid-June Saturday morning. Not bad. We each had a veggie omelette, one with egg whites and no cheese and the other with Swiss. The omelette comes with a portion of potatoes (they were fine), a small salad (nice touch, with a decent vinaigrette) and bread. We got English muffin ($1 extra) with one and an everything bagel ($2 extra - no cream cheese) with the other. The omelette was large, with good portion of filling, including spinach and tomato. I don't know if they use an especially good Swiss cheese, but it "popped". The coffee here (Segafredo) was really good. A medium blend, but flavorful and rich. I really enjoyed the coffee and plan to buy some when I get home. The service here is very good. There's one place we go to once whenever we visit Rehoboth, both because it's solid and for nostalgia (Robin Hood). That will remain our first place. But I think we found our place for the second breakfast. It's a bit more expensive than some (by a couple of dollars), but the portions are large, the food is good and the coffee is great. read more

My wife and I had breakfast today at Breakfast Guru. Once again we were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! We were happily greeted by Matt the host who is always so pleasant and accommodating! This was followed by the wonderful service by Emilia. Additionally, Cristian who remembered I liked jalapeños which they previously they did not carry but now do. He let me know and quickly got me some. That's amazing!! Who does that? They do as they really care about their customers and it shows. Just like Server Alex who is so friendly and came over to check on us! The restaurant is cute and the service was fine. I did not like my oatmeal it was a dry mushy mess with side chunks of unsweetened apples and dried cranberries. I had to ask for some hot milk. This was our first time visiting breakfast guru. They have a good variety of choices on their menu. The prices are a little on the higher side, but the food was more upscale and it is in a tourist town. We split the special local peach crêpe dish - it was Perfection. We had the avocado toast with an egg . It had a good amount of toppings and was full of flavor. It was a so good. It was a decent size portion. My daughter ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon. We asked for the potatoes to be crispy and they came out as requested. My dad ordered the lox and bagel, which was a large size bagel with plenty of lox and cream cheese. We also had an order of oatmeal. It was a decent size portion with a couple toppings. The atmosphere was light and airy. Our server was attentive and the food came out quickly. Heard great things about this place, so I decided to try it out. The menu options looked great! I'm a big fan of French toast, so I ordered the strawberry cream cheese French toast. It looked great when I picked it up. Sadly, I'm sorry to report it wasn't very good. The inside was dry -- French toast should never be dry on the inside, it should be custard-like. Clearly the slice wasn't fully saturated before it was cooked. This didn't even taste like French toast, it tasted like bread slices with toppings on it. For a $14 entree, I was pretty disappointed. Other food I tried: I got an egg & cheese biscuit, which I'm happy to say was delicious. The scrambled egg was cooked just right, and was in a fun square shape. I was happy with that order. I'm willing to give this place another chance, but I'd strongly caution against any of the French toast. read more

Service was nice (they tried!). Food was average at best. The fruit bowl - basics, I know... was tiny and most of the fruit was visibly past its prime. I had the egg sandwich with turkey bacon - a modest choice for a modest appetite (and I don't like ginormous portions)... it was definitely on the smaller side and really just OK. The yogurt parfait (containing some of the same over-ripe berries) was presented nicely but only a spicy honey option or maple syrup available. Again, a tinier portion than what I expected- especially for the price. The cappuccino was $7 and literally 1/2 the size of a small coffee shop or Starbucks. My husband got one of their bowls and was underwhelmed by again, size... but also the quality of the food. While the staff was nice, the dining room felt like a pop-up shop. The ambiance was relaxed, as opposed to most breakfast places in town. We were served promptly. All the associates were friendly and regularly checked on us. I had the Shore breakfast with eggs over easy with rye toast and sausage, while my wife had waffles and scrapple. Everything was delicious. My wife also had an expresso martini. I have owned a home in Rehoboth Beach since 2001. My wife's and my favorite place for breakfast is the Breakfast Guru. The food is great, especially their Ham, Spinach, Feta, and Egg Crepes and their French toast. They have great coffee and excellent service. The prices are reasonable as well. It is a large, spacious restaurant that is also quiet, which is nice versus super cramped and loud places, especially in the morning. The owner Annie is very attentive and kind. She has a large staff that is friendly and knowledgable. Definitely try the Breakfast Guru! read more

We were seated very quickly and service was efficient. Gluten options with a $2-3 up-charge. The French toast, Shore Breakfast and veggie omelette were good, but not an outstanding. The atmosphere felt detached, lost and a bit uninviting. The host did not seem to want to be there and the waitress was more mechanical than welcoming initially. Our server was very nice and made some suggestions and I will say make a reservation. We went on a Tuesday morning at 10:30 and glad we had the reservation which we made just the night before or else it would've been a 45 min wait. I had the ham spinach crepe and my daughter (who has celiac) got the eggs benedict with gf toast and hash browns. Both breakfast were so good. Excellent breakfast restaurant only two blocks from the boardwalk and a block off Rehoboth Ave. The breakfast eggs and omelettes were very well prepared and very delicious. Coffee was surprisingly very good too with many breakfast venues usually serving mediocre brews. Only drawback was the they are somewhat short of staff which is the norm these days post COVID. Oh boy... where do I begin with this disastrous breakfast experience?? I am shocked this place has stayed open as long as it has. We walked in on a Saturday morning to a half full restaurant. It looked like they purchased the furniture from a bargain bin store. The tables and chairs are mismatched and in really bad condition. There is no decor whatsoever and it just looks sad. The menu actually looked promising. We thought, let's not judge this book by it's cover. But BOY were we wrong on that one... We were hungry and the location is really convenient only 1 block from the beach. So, we decided against our better judgement to eat there. Right off the bat things started going badly. We waited about 20 minutes for a server just to come to our table. Another 15 minutes before our drinks came. Our food took almost AN HOUR to come out. When it did, it was cold, unappetizing and just plain terrible. We picked at it and walked out disappointed and still hungry. This space has SO MUCH potential. What a bummer. I hope a better breakfast place opens in this spot next season!! read more

It's already ruined one of my workouts with the pancakes they serve and I think they'll do it again pretty soon. This place has probably some of the best pancakes I've ever had. I say nothing.... Then a group of four walks in and is seated before me as well. That's when I told him I'll go elsewhere. Messed up thing about was he told them it was a 10 minute wait and then say them 2 minutes after he did. I didn't get riled up or show out... I know just left the gym but if you don't want my money just tell me. Took my money elsewhere... to Sammy's. Guess they'll appreciate me more. Why is this restaurant not named the "Short Door Cafe?" They are missing a major marketing opportunity with the location of the door between the dining room and the bar. The comedic relief provided by the servers, who navigate the short door, allowed the 1.5 hour wait for our food to arrive to fly by. Pros: The server was very nice. The food presentation was appealing. The omelettes were good. The short door. Cons: Bacon was not "thick cut" as described on the menu.
