I usually don't like to leave reviews at places that aren't chain restaurants. But I really hope this restaurant will try to do better. The food is NASTY. I had the calamari and it was so tough. Not a lot of flavor. My man got the fried shrimp and catfish basket and the shrimp came out barely warm. The catfish had a horrible flavor. I got the blackened red snapper and it was just cooked in the oven, not blackened and not hardly seasoned. It tasted gross. I don't know if they cooked it in some oil that was old or spoiled but it was just horrible. The asparagus was cooked nicely though, but I wish I could've had more than 3 pieces. The dirty rice was hard and way too salty. For $50 the food should have been SO MUCH BETTER. It was just gross. read more

I placed an order to pick up last night. I was very impressed with the quickness of the order and when it would be ready. The food was horrible the salmon had no flavor was cold in the middle as if it wasn't cooked properly. The shrimp was hard and over cooked. The cat fish was deep fried hard and crispy which is not how I would expect catfish to be cooked. The asparagus was over cooked and soggy and slimy not even edible just limp. The fries that came with the shrimp baskets were soggy and cold as if they were cooked two hours before. I tried to call for several hours but no one could get through on the phone line to discuss how disappointed we were with our meal. I will be contacting my bank to have full payment refunded to my account. I did send a contact us email and and was told that I would have a response within 24 hours but as of yet no one has contacted me. read more

Seafood is my jam and this place does not live up to quality of its Dallas competitors. The Aguachiles barely had any shrimp, the fried shrimp was over cooked and dry, the fried fish undercooked, and the server was just as dry and not helpful. I asked for a skinny marg and he tells me they don't serve those. I go to the bar and ask the bartender and she says sure and makes one for me! The oysters were decent so I give the place 2 stars. We were all so unhappy we ate the appetizers and left for dinner somewhere else. Will go to Aw Shucks from now on, should've known better than to stray. What's with restaurants I used to love declining in quality? I've frequented Sunset at least 7 times this year and each time, each batch seems to be "dirtier". The straw that broke the camel's back is when we ordered take out: 3 lbs crawfish and 2 lbs shrimp. Both bags had random pieces of marine life and twigs...obviously they didn't clean them. Dined here for the first time early on Thursday evening. Drove up, found a few parallel parking spaces on the street and lots of open spaces in their large back parking lot. Cool place inside. Decorated with cutesy fishing decor including a 30 gallon fresh water aquarium (The latter being very popular with the kids). Wait staff was telling everyone to just go ahead and seat themselves. Several four and six top tables inside with more in their covered patio out back. Seating at decent bar area too. Several television monitors on with satellite TV channels playing. Service was good and attentive. My $34 order of a pound each of boiled shrimp and snow crab came in about 10 minutes. My choice of spice sauce was the mild Louisiana boil. It was spicy enough and very salty. I ate all 2 lbs of my dish. The shrimp were large, cooked correctly, easy to peel, tender, succulent, and flavorful. The same goes for the snow crab legs. I was so glad the snow crab included claws and meaty parts of the main body. I'm also glad they provide plastic bibs and two plastic gloves as the Louisiana sauce splashed everywhere when you use the crab crackers. In summary, this was an excellent first time experience. Parking was easy, prices are very reasonable, food was excellent, service was great, and the place is very nice. I will definitely come back. read more

Although our server was sweet, he tried his best to accommodate.. but there's only so much you can do when the restaurant/food is the issue. We ordered everything from catfish plate to crab to crawfish. And I tried it all. First the catfish plate, how do you mess up catfish? It was poorly seasoned, absolutely no flavor and it was cold. The crawfish and crab seasoning, I didn't really like the flavor, to me, being from Louisiana, I didn't feel like it represented the Cajun seasoning. I just wasn't impressed. One of my clients and I ate here. It was okay. I had the lobster, dirty rice and asparagus with a side of sweet potato fries. My sweet potatoe fries were by far the best thing on my plate. My lobster was very disappointing because it was rubbery. The dirty rice was kind of bland. The asparagus was good tho. It was cooked and seasoned well. My friend was disappointed in her gumbo because she said the it seemed like the sausage was added on top of the gumbo vs being cooked inside it. She literally just took the sausage out because it didn't have any taste. The server was good tho. He was very pleasant and accommodating. I thought it was the flavor I chose, but my girlfriend got Cajun and garlic butter and hers was just okay too. The shrimp were very overcooked to the point of being mushy. Our service was great, parking is ample and easy in the area, it's close to Bishop Arts, limes were big and juicy but the spice blend has this god awful texture like MUD and when you're trying to enjoy potatoes, corn, shrimp and crab in this mixture it's just off putting. I'd be lying if I said I was going to come back and try some other items because we specifically came for the boil-in-a-bag and it doesn't hold a candle to the numerous places I enjoy (Angry Crab in Phoenix, AZ for example or even Juicy Crab in Georgia, and that place was pretty lack luster too.) I know you need a quick delivery time, but I think in the case of shellfish (especially crab) it's SO important to BOIL at least SOME flavor into it before simply tossing it in a bag w/your mud of spices... just a friendly suggestion. Both times they were extremely small. I get the sunset bang flavor and it was seasoned well, I just couldn't get over the size. It's BYOB so that's a major plus but the service isn't that good. We waited about 10 minutes before our order was taken and about 15 minites to receive our check after we had already asked for it, while the waitress was talking to another waiter. So first time I have ever had craw fish. I really liked the seasoning, I had the sunset bang (I believe that is what it was called) in mild heat. I should have done hot because it wasn't spicy at all but it was very delicious. My waitress Was amazing and very helpful. I also tried their micheladas which I was very surprise on how good it was. Overall this is a great place, they accept all major credit cards, and they have coke products. We stopped by this cute little place on the corner and didn't know if it would be good so we walked in to try. Everyone was very welcoming and even on a Saturday night we got sat straight away. We both ordered salmon (one blackened one lemon pepper) and I've never left a review before for anything but this is saying something by me leaving one. I have eaten here three times in the last six weeks. I think it's great seafood especially for the price. You must try their take on a seafood boil. I had seen a lot of people post this place so I decided to try it cause it looked so good. I bought a burger and fries and a the 19 dollar shrimp bag mild to share. The burger was actually really good and probably would have got a 4 at burger spot. The waiter was nice and the tea he brought was very good. The bag was really spicey which I normally like but I was sharing this with a kid so really didn't like since I got mild. The shrimp was good, potatoes and corn were good but the sausage tasted odd not bad per say just odd. This would be last of all the crab places I've been too. What was also odd was the bill came back around $240 for everything we got. That's like 70 more than our little group normally pays when we go for out crab. Ok my wife and I are driving looking for something to eat and we stumble upon a new restaurant with grand opening on it. It's called Sunset Crab Shack, so we decided to give it a try. Plus we have been frequent visitors to crabs places like Boiling Crab in Garland and Rocking Crab in Duncanville. So we had something to judge upon. As soon as we walk in the smell of the restaurant was good I could smell the boil and spices in the air made my mouth water already. The atmosphere was nice kinda limited in space to eat inside but plenty of room on the patios down and up stairs. The have bar which is nice but only two beers on draft. The menu was looking very appealing I see a good mix of Cajun, Mexican and Seafood choices. Boil of shrimp, crab, lobster, and clams. Sausage, corn, rice, ceviche and more the menu like I said was appealing. We opt to get ceviche which was ok need more flavor. We also got steamed rice. Boil shrimp and corn in Diablo sauce. Which is a combination of different sauces like Garlic butter and Cajun. They are tiers of how hot you want it medium, hot, very hot. We got the hot. When the good arrived the smell and the taste was very good and savory good size in the shrimp too the corn was sweet and spicy cause it was mix in the bag the only it should be. The wait staff was very friendly our waitress even gave us free mini magarita's which was very good. We were stuffed and satisfied with the food I actually want to order more lol We will be coming to give a second try and if they keep the service we will come back more often. It does feel good to have a new restaurant like this so close to home in Oak Cliff. Not having to go Garland or Duncanville to get the same thing. All in the food was good just a short of Boiling Crab but it's a close second. Keep up the good work if the restaurant reads this. read more

This place is amazing when you dine in-- they have a cool atmosphere and friendly employees, not to mention the great food too. Due to coronavirus, I have been using doordash for my orders and every time I order there is ALWAYS an issue. If it's not one thing, it's something else--missing drink, no sides, wrong drink.. one time I ordered and they only gave me a $11 bag of 1/2 snow crab out of a $60 dinner with everything else completely missing. Still i order though because again, love the food. The low rating is simply because they are careless with their to-go orders and whoever they allow to CONSTANTLY screw up is clueless. read more

I wish i had a review of the food at Sunset Crab, but we didnt get a chance to order anything. There were people dining but it wasnt fully packed, there were some open tables. A hostess greeted us immediately ready to seat us. We were just a party of two, and chose to take an open table on the patio. Once we were sat, we were never approached by any servers at all. I saw 3 separate servers approach every other table on the patio and no one stopped by and said anything to us. After nearly 20 minutes of being totally ignored, we left.
