Trivia moved here from phd. Literally the only reason i came back. I grabbed a big table bc i had a bunch of folks joining me. I received the third degree from at least 3 servers making sure i was going to fill the table. I assured them i was. You have to get here early bc otherwise you can't get a place to sit. I ordered a lemonade and mac and cheese. Mac and cheese took like 30 min and was $10 for a small bowl. Better than last time i was here but not worth the wait. It took so long and my friend who arrived after me got her potato skins i was like maybe they forgot about me. When i was finally able to flag down a server i was told the kitchen was backed up but that they could check on it for me. I had also asked for water with no cucumber which finally came an hour later when i asked again. The servers seemed to be avoiding us and when you could get someone to stop they were disinterested and acted like i was inconveniencing them. I had my hand up for several minutes bc i had no idea how to get my servers attention for a box, my check and my water. The food here is overpriced and the service is terrible. Omg found this spot last minute for a date night! It was late night eats when we got there so the menu was limited. We ordered drinks that were delicious and sweet as well as strong. The owner was cooking in the kitchen greeting some guests and spoke to us. We tried the pizza which is hand made there! My late husband and I discovered Nova on the way to The Kessler Theater almost 10 years ago. My daughter and I go back when we are in the area; definitely worth the drive for me. We went on a Sunday early afternoon recently, there was live music; however, people were talking loudly. It appeared that put server was being shadowed by a new employee service was excellent!! Our mimosas were tasty as were the eggs with biscuits and gravy but the french toast casserole was out of this world delicious!! Parking lot is small; some street parking is available. If there's one thing I've learned about restaurants, it's this: if retired people go there, it's good. If they have steady regulars, it's really good. If those steady regulars are retired, you found a golden ticket. Seriously, the decor is true, laidback vintage (not kitschy like newer restaurants), the staff will know your name quick, and the food is beyond comparison. It can get pricy, which is why I save it for special occasions but they have an incredible happy hour too if you just want drinks (and the drinks are top notch). Nova is a gem a mile away from the many overpriced and overrated restaurants in Bishop Arts. Don't be put off by the frequent bar crowd or the late night hours. This is place to drink and be merry and a place to eat good grub. Nick, the owner, is a great guy and will get behind the bar and serve customers. This is a regular spot for me and my wife. Wasn't sure about how this experience was gonna be, but after sitting down this turned into a great choice. Starting with Ralph, our server, he was awesome and very accommodating. Then the food was outstanding. Started with the grilled beets, delicious, then The Steak Oscar was superb and the Gumbo was absolutely awesome. Can't say enough about this place. Growing up, my favorite kind of restaurant were diners. This place takes the simplicity and nostalgia of an old school diner and pairs it up with delicious upscale food at a great price. I've been here three times, now and have had the best experience each time. The servers are attentive and friendly. My drink is never empty. The bar makes an awesome dirty martini! And the best part is they're open late. Their appetizers are excellent. I've had the hummus, smoked salmon potato skins, and the watermelon burrata salad and it's all delicious. For entrees I've had the chicken fried pork loin, the beef Wellington, a pizza, and the latest (pictured below) was the Scottish salmon special. It was one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. We split a pear and arugula salad. It was delicious. Lots of berries that were freeze dried. The pears were roasted. Fresh goat cheese crumbled. Just a really god salad. I ordered the roasted duck over carmelized brusselsprouts. Delicious! My husband had the chicken fried pork loin. He loved it. I had a very good experience at Nova, the service at bar was excellent i ordered a Nova 75 (French 75) it was delicious i was afraid the champagne would take over the drink but just the right amount was added. I'd definitely recommend the seafood empanada I've never had anything like that before. The Nova salad was great too but a little shy on the olives but still can't go wrong ordering it. I ordered the fettuccine pasta with peppers, sadly i had to send it back. It was FULL of flavors from the different ingredients but lacking salt/seasoning to hold it together and maybe get it without the carrots because it made the dish a 3/10. I had found this place online by chance and the menu I saw made me want to come try it out. Well, when I came in, I stood there awkwardly for a while until someone came to seat me. I was waiting on a friend who was running behind and I was so hungry so I ordered some crispy brussel sprouts in the meantime. they were crispy, well seasoned and had blue cheese on them. I love Blue Cheese and I love the sprouts... but I really don't know that they went so well together. Not a fan of that aspect. Their menu was definitely not what I had seen online nor did they really have anything I'd wanted to try. I couldn't determine what the theme of the restaurant was... it was kind of all over the place. I even asked the server what the theme was. His response: "there is no theme, it's unique... this is the only place you can get Thai food and pizza." I mean... OK... sure. Ended up getting the pulled duck pizza and subbed the BBQ sauce it normally comes with for pesto sauce (a much better option I think). The pesto was not as fragrant as I am used to which was not entirely bad as it did not overshadow the other elements on the pizza. It wasn't entirely good either as the other elements on the pizza were equally underwhelming. I was so utterly disappointed by my experience at Nova, especially after I'd been looking forward to it for months and for having to pay that much for a mediocre (at best) meal. Meh... read more
