Talk about fast service! Not 5 minutes after placing our order, our food was delivered hot from the kitchen. They do carry sugar-free syrup for the pancakes as well as plenty of sugar options for the coffee. Which most places don't carry Truvia packets so this was great to see! The staff was friendly and prompt. Had to wait to ask for a coffee refill though. As soon as we talked in, we were greeted with a smile and a place to sit immediately. We noticed how fast the staff was at cleaning up empty tables to get the next people seated. Very efficient. The coffee was good and even offered fresh coffee to go when we were leaving. The food was good and filling. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I would go back to try other breakfast plates for sure. read more

I recently participated in a focus group with 25 other Fredericksburg area residents in Austin. They were interested in hearing from both new and old residents from the area and get our opinions on a variety of issues from housing, mostly affordable housing, restaurants, hotels and vrbo, and other issues impacting the city. Angela in my opinion and that of others is someone who has been a local favorite. I moved her shortly before covid. I have gotten to know Angela strictly on a customer basis. I have gotten to know her brother who a great brew master, her sister in-law T, and her mother. She makes you feel welcome and that you're part of the family. That extends to her staff. Felicia, Sam, Paulette, Kevin, Krystal, all know me by name and know my order. Making two management changes to G.H. and the Pub were wise decisions on her part in my opinion. The same can be said if I walk into Grannit House or the Pub. Chase's Place and Silver Creek also make sure that the local community knows how much they are appreciated. Another family restaurant venture started out with similar appreciation. It has several ventures at one time. It offered one of my favorite German restaurants for years. Sadly, something has changed. I don't know if it is burnout, change in staff, chefs, or the reasons why but the last couple times I have been extremely disappointed. My point. The one thing everyone had in common is loyalty/customer appreciation. Having the owner just stopping by and telling us thank you goes along ways. It is locals who support your business during the week. Angela by no means holds the copyright on good service. Her staff tenure speaks to her dedication to the community. I can't speak to Warner House. I am not sure why, but I am embarrassed to say I have never been. If you are not a local and wanting to try a local favorite. I highly suggest Sunset for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. Evenings, you can't go wrong with Granite House. I personally, like the beef tips or the salmon. I absolutely love the Pub and it is definitely my local hangout from 3 to 6. The in-house brews are constantly changing depending on what is available. He has produced some really good stuff. Especially for being so new to the industry. Another local favorite is Pecan Street and his beers have been equally as exciting. read more

We stopped by due to the reviews and we were craving some breakfast food. We were underwhelmed to say the least. The menu looked great however the food was pretty bland overall. The service was great though and very fast. We ordered the big a** sandwich. It was very sloppy due to the medium egg. The sandwich tasted like bread and lacked flavor. The side of potatoes were delicious! The cold brew was average. The biscuit sandwich was pretty good. Just a bit too salty for my liking. Overall it was an average breakfast. Fredericksburg doesn't seem to offer many places to grab a hearty brunch, so when we came across this location, we added it to the weekend itinerary. When we called a week or so ahead of time, we were told no reservations, but that the wait wouldn't be more than 20 minutes or so. The "or so" turned into about a 50-60 minute wait, but it was a gorgeous day, so we were okay with that and with waiting in the limited outdoor space. Also, we were a large party, so we expected the wait. They have a bar where you could grab some drinks to take outside too, and they offer water at the door as you wait. Parking is also pretty sparse for the crowd. We witnessed many people parking on the street across the highway and running across to get to the restaurant. Once we were finally seated, we were greeted by our stellar server. She was on the ball. We got our drinks and put in our order. She also provided her recommendations when we were waivering between two dishes, and she got it right! A couple of people got the special, and they were so pleased. We noticed the seating situation got better around noon, so that may be the time to go. Sunset Grill gave us the perfect way to start a busy day touring and sipping across the Texas wineries. 100% will go back. read more

This is a disappointing, dated restaurant that is clinging to the past in all the wrong ways. There are ways to embrace mid century architecture while living in the now. The menu is like a time warp and although we made a reservation and made it clear that we were celebrating a special occasion, we weren't offered anything remotely special. Ordering a beverage during the wait time nearly threw me into a panic attack because the wait staff, host and guests are all occupying the same space. Waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning- not bad! Tasty Bloody Mary and iced coffee although the Mary could have been spicier. Both had the specials of chicken fried steak with egg and potato and hubby had the lumberjack omelette which the eggs were cooked too hot and fast and had a lot of brown on them. He said it tasted good and that the biscuit was amazing. Service was super fast but inside it was super noisy. Good breakfast overall. Upon walking into sunset grill your option are endless between seating areas inside with cool A/C and classic rock songs in the back ground the sound of the hustle and bustle of the staff working together. Along with the beautiful melody of laughter fun conversation and the occasional baby crying. Or you can step outside and enjoy your freshly prepared meal with covered patios seating. The ambiance is tranquil. Spaced out seating with umbrella as needed, along with hand attended garden, the smell of freshly groomed flower beads. If you're planning on enjoying this experience Saturday or Sunday morning come early and bring your appetite. They have a very well lit and inviting indoor dining space along with a shaded outdoor area with plenty of fans. Their menu features all the breakfast classic you want along with their lineup of Bennys! I loved my special Chorizo Eggs Benedict! So much flavor going on here with their fresh pico de gallo, chorizo meat, and more. Even the potatoes were perfectly done. We never get appetizers for breakfast but we knew we had to try something else on the menu and decided to get the onion rings...best decision ever! These may be the best we ever had. We asked for heavy cream for our coffee but was looked at like we had asked for gold plated heavy cream and told no though they have a whole coffee bar and speciality coffee drinks. Maybe they have heavy cream and maybe they don't but the waiters approach wasn't pleasant. I had the Sunsetter and my husband had the Santa Fe omelette. My food was delicious and great flavored but hubbys was just ok. The sourdough bread was delicious! Love the options for the jams on the table. My boyfriend ordered blueberry pancakes with bacon and a biscuit. I ordered the bigass sandwich with fries. Fries were very seasoned but were good and the sandwich was large but flavorful and cooked perfectly. The egg on the sandwich was like an over medium which is exactly what I love but I'm sure you could request it any way. The blueberry pancakes had a good amount of blueberries inside the pancake and on top. The only thing that was off was the coffee. I got the regular hot coffee and added their cream and sugar. Not sure what is was exactly but the coffee tasted very off. I barely had any of it because it wasn't good. Im a big coffee drinker and can make any kind work whether expensive or cheap but this one was just blah. read more
