Review is for customer experience only. I did not eat here. Last day of my vacation and I'm looking at local spots. I fall in love with the idea of a nice restaurant and a good beef brisket at Sunset Grill. I called at about 9pm to confirm closing time even though the hours listed close at 12am. I was briskly informed by a female that the kitchen closes at 10pm. "Oh great! Good thing I called." I thanked her and we both quickly got off the line. My partner and I both showered, changed and then drove the 20min down to arrive at 9:40pm for dinner. Only to be greeted by a locked door. I called to confirm that I had the correct address and heard the phone ringing inside. The same female picked up and I asked about close time yet again. She informed me that they decided to close early since they had only one patreon left. A standard practice in the restaurant industry. But that just ruined my night. I asked to speak to the manager after clarifying that I was literally outside at that moment after confirming thier hours. The manager came out and I prefaced the conversation with my sympathy from a business perspective. I get it. You have no customers so you close early. You shut off the kitchen, sent staff home and are cleaning already. BUT I called ahead to confirm your close time. Drive damn near 20 miles and sacrificed my other options for dinner. He apologized because he was not informed about sny phone calls. I literally have zero other options for dinner at 9:45pm. So I informed him to communicate with his staff and blame the woman on the phone for my HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called 5 other restaurants and nothing was open. I ended up driving to Lincoln and ordered a microwaved burger from the McDonalds that's open until midnight. So much for my brisket to finish off my vacation. read more

Sunset Grill - I hate writing bad reviews and I try to be nice but this restaurant was absolutely the worst dining experience I have had, no exaggerations. - American Near Me - West Campton, New Hampshire

My husband and I went there the other night and it was a horrible experience. Food was cold, slow service, and unprofessional manager. It took almost an hour for a club sandwich and chicken fingers. The appetizer was cold. When we talked to the manager about it she was unprofessional and was almost in a full yell at me. We weren't' the only ones there complaining either. I will never go back. And when I tried to do a review on their Facebook page they told me it was an invalid review. read more

Great food! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Deceiving from the outside. TONS of options, just on the lunch menu alone! They give you a lot too. Definitely one of the good places to eat around Waterville. read more

This place is okay. Nothing special and definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but it's okay for lunch.

Not a bad place...7 of us went here about 730 pm on a friday night, it wasn't too busy. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly enough. The decor was really cool. Lots of old film camera and video cameras, and being a shutterbug I found it all really fascinating. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, I had the chicken fingers which were pretty good. Saw this place on the road after hearing Don Henley's sunset grill song so it had to be fate! We ate breakfast in the bar early PM on a Sunday. The food was really good, the service was great and the patrons welcomed us as one of their family. read more

The food is mediocre. The music is always SO loud in the bar but I guess that's what you're asking for if you're going to a place like this.

Hey Steven. We are in town for just one day during our vacationing from CA. Peg ordered your BBQ Brisket and I ordered the Blue Plate Spaghetti and Meatballs. Both meals were delicious. Brisket was moist and tender and Alex brought Peg a choice of four types of BBQ sauce. My Spaghetti sauce was rich and hearty; Your chef gave me six meatballs. How many places do that. I'd recommend your Grill to anyone but to bring their appetite because the helpings are generous. read more

I always stop in when visiting NH. Everything I have tried so far has been great. I can't get enough of their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich ,my favorite. Great place for a drink, listen to some local music, and have dinner. The owners are very friendly, the bartenders and the servers work very hard to make sure you have everything you need. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. read more

Best Barbeque, we had ribs, brisket, pulled pork and tri tip, all delicious! Great service and under new ownership, we will be back. Brought 4 families for 4th of July, dined on the patio with live music and our own fireworks display. Thank you for a wonderful night! read more

This is probably the best bar and grill in the area. The waiters are great, the food was amazing, and overall we had a great experience. Despite the look from the outside, this place feels great inside and also feels just like home. I hope you get the chance to see this amazing place, it was great. read more

when i arrive there at the grill i have a feeling that i'm comfortable...then in about five minutes...it gets better than that...cuz steve or kelly will come out from being busy just as the amazing lynne is serving me something fun in a glass...after that i don't care what happens...cuz the food is gonna be the best anywhere ...and the folks are better than family...peace read more

The service in the afternoon is really really slow. A table of four finished their appetizers and entrees and paid their bill. But we still don't have our food! The pastas are ok. I feel that I can make it at home with the canned tomato sauce. The tuna sandwich and chips are good though. Service is ok. 2 stars for the long time waiting and pastas. read more

Welcome to the place where flavor comes to die. Wow. So where do I start? My husband and I intended to go somewhere else but it was closed due to a private party. The hostess suggested this place. No. Just no. The waitress was lovely, hence the two stars... But the food? Sad. We got the scallops wrapped in bacon, I asked if the were fresh and got a resounding YES! They were cold in the middle. Red flag. We got the prime rib special. I've never had a more flavorless prime rib in my life! How is that possible??? I had said when I ordered it that I could eat the leftovers later. I ended up cutting it into pieces a so she wouldn't even ask. The Mac and cheese was grainy and tasteless. On the upside, the baked potato was good. Onion rings were fine, but they wouldn't let us get them instead of any of the other sides offered so we had to pay for them. The 2 rolls we were given were pale, and again....useless for the tastebuds! Don't bother! read more

This review is based on about 12 visits over the last year. First, food. The food is generally fresh and well prepared with portion sizes and presentation sometimes not consistent. It is seasoned to taste. The french onion soup is the best I've ever had. I've found it's helpful to ask what seafood and desserts are fresh before ordering (after a disappointing experience of being served spoiled food in each category)Portions vary. They are nice sized for soup, salad,appetizers but small for pasta. Thjs effects the price/value in those categories. Overall, the prices are reasonable. Often, the waitress forgets to put beverage on the bill. This leads into service. Sometimes it's great but most of the time the waitresses (even when not busy) seem unable to waitress. Things like forgetting to serve utensils with coffee, dessert. Forgetting to serve appetizer, salad until after the entree. Not checking in to see if anything else is needed such as refill of beverages, more condiments etc. If you can get past the lackluster service, the food is worth it. read more

I was just up for some late season skiing and ended up here because everything else was closed for some reason. I had been years ago and swore I would never return. But fate got in the way and I could not be more happy. We met the owner Steve who took time to talk talk to us. He explained he took it over a year and a half ago. He is obviously proud of what he has accomplished and takes great pride in his business and food. Since I was speaking directly to the owner I aske what I should order. He smiled and explained that he did all the BBQ himself. After a mouth watering description I quickly ordered the ribs. They were a true full rack and were served with the best baked beans I ever had. Also served with the ribs were rolls and a vinegar based coleslaw. The ribs were dry rubbed and smoked for 18 hr (don't quote me on that) I think. But if you like bbq sauce they give you two different homemade sauces and they were both delicious. I watched other tables get served and everything looked great and I saw and heard no complaints and a lot of empty plates. I can't wait to go back read more

Wow! Haven't been here in years because it just wasn't good before. Well there is a new owner and the place is great. It's clean and cheerful, already an improvement. We were lucky too meet Steve the owner, who told us about his competition style BBQ; good thing he did because we would have gone right past this menu item. It was FABULOUS. Seriously, so pleasantly surprised. Only tried the baby backs ribs, which were dense with flavor, nice and smoky and served with a dry rub, not drowning in sauce. 2 tasty sauces are served on the side to use as you wish. He smokes his brisket 18 hours, does the ribs slow and low...there's chicken and other meats as well. Can't wait to go back. Comes with a delicious cole slaw that was heavy in fresh parsley, chopped onion, no mayo and absolutely delicious baked beans. Campton is a bit of a culinary wasteland and the new Sunset is a superb addition to other few restaurants. This will now be our go-to! read more
