Returned with friends to catch up and have a nice time- love the setting; completely different from the other Common Man venues(inn and spa here). The room was a boiler room for a paper mill prior to being converted to the current complex. The menu is varied and I think better than other Common Man establishments. We started with calamari, Reuben fritters and pot stickers. I ordered the stuffed sole( crab and scallops). Others opted for the steak tips which also got good reviews Claire was wonderful as our waitress and kept the seven of us happy and satisfied. For dessert, we sampled the chocolate cake and coconut shaved ice cream(both recommended even if you are full). We have to return again before we head back South; worth the trip to Plymouth. I visited on a Friday evening recently and really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is really cool, with multiple levels and rooms that each have a different feel. Our server was excellent and the manager stopped by to see if we were enjoying ourselves. I had the French onion soup, which was very solid and the Asian noodles. Also very good but a bit spicier than I was expecting. I also tried the cocktail special which was the Beachy Bourbon, a bourbon Aperol combo that was very good. For about the dozenth time, we ordered with a special note for gluten free on a salad for take out and they screwed it up. This time, we confirmed with the hostess and she assured us it was good and she'd put the allergen flag in the chicken herself. Only to get home and see the chicken was in a separate container with the allergen flag, but the salad was NOT what we ordered and was a Caesar salad with croutons. Ugh. We stayed at the common man inn and ate here for dinner. Busy place!! We sat at the bar. Very cozy, bartender was wonderful. Drinks were well made. We got the fish and chips and chicken pot pie. We were a little leery on the fish; but the bartender assured us customer seem to love it. She was right- some of the best fish n chips had. Chicken pot pie was hot, well flavored and not overly salty. Didn't care for the biscuit (menu stated it would be a waffle pressed biscuit). We stopped in Plymouth back in Feb'24 on our drive from skiing. Finding Foster's Boiler Room was our extreme luck. Yes, we know and love Common Man in Lincoln, but had no idea about Pymouth location before. Rating this place is extremely easy for me. If you count only terrific, cozy and whimsical multi-room setting inside old manufacturing building, then adding friendly beyond belief serving staff - ok, you are already somewhere near 4.5. So, if you add interesting, reasonable-priced and vast menu, and very good implementation of it, then we are talking another 4.5. Totalling 9. This is a Common Man restaurant inside their inn location. It is full of little alcoves of dining which make it really nice if you are looking to catch up with people. The food, service and atmosphere are all top notch. I had their devil eggs and zucchini Parmesan cakes which were delicious. My meal was the bang bang chicken lettuce wraps had great flavor. Others at table got French onion soup, popcorn shrimp and burger. Everyone enjoyed. I would recommend based on my experience. read more

30 min drive to this restaurant. Nicely dressed, older couple, pleasant to the very young girl maitre d' and saying that it was our first time at the restaurant. Can we climb stairs, yes no problem. She took us to the third floor, way in the back, darkest place in the restaurant, near storage cabinets, then to a small high chair two person table. There were many other table we passed. "What did we do wrong?" I went back down and found two seats at the bar which we moved too and politely let her know we were unhappy. She should not have that key position. We were planning on ordering the best thing on the menu but changed that. The bar tender was polite, not friendly, not attentive, disappointing. The food was ok, steak tips were good, burger was ok but nothing spectacular. This is not a Common Man like the Lake House Grill. The manager is a really nice guy (over the phone and walking around), but not hiring the right people or training them correctly. We will never return. read more

We're driving back from Canada to Mass and needed a place to stop, eat, and stretch. I'm glad we found this spot! Great drinks and a great salad: a healthy portion of spinach, fresh berries, a piece of cheddar cheese and grilled salmon with a light vinaigrette!!! It hit the spot! The folks in the inn and restaurant are always kind and welcoming, and we usually spend time perusing the hallways or sitting by the fire in the lobby. Love all the pictures on the walls, you can learn a lot of history about the area. Dining space has a cozy glow to it. Food has been reliably good with some excellent dishes. Our waitress was Isabela and she was kind and thoughtful. They offer free cheese and crackers which was nice. The cheese was good and they had a variety of different crackers to choose from. Our waitress also brought us some bread to the table as well which was nice. We started with ordering appetizers. We ordered the tailgate chicken wings and the popcorn shrimp. The chicken wings were good and they were glazed to perfection but the real star was the popcorn shrimp. The shrimp came out and was very hot and crispy with 2 kinds of dipping sauces. The shrimp was amazing! For our main course we ordered the steak and the Mac and cheese. There was a delay with our entrees but our waitress informed us about that which was fine. Our dinners finally came out and the steaks were cooked well but were slightly under seasoned. I asked if they had horseradish and luckily they did. The steaks were sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley of cooked carrots and red bell peppers. The mashed potatoes were sub par and lumpy. Something like a well seasoned potato purée with butter and cream would have been better. The carrots and peppers were cooked nicely. The Mac and cheese was a definite disappointment. The Mac and cheese definitely lacked cheese and I could tell the noodles were boiled in unsalted water which is a no-no. The presentation was good however since the Mac and cheese came out in a nice small cast iron skillet. For dessert we had the cookie dough wontons. They were ok. Went to Fosters Boiler Room for the first time with my Husband, Sister, & Brother-in-law. We've been to another Common Man so we had an idea of what this place might be like. For all of you rustic lodge lovers out there like myself this place has it all. When you first walk through the entrance you'll find a cute little store area that sells anything from NH shirts to NH maple syrup. As you make your way to the restaraunt you'll see a really cozy seating area with a beautiful fireplace. The cutest thing EVER was the kitty cat napping on the couch. Our party went over to pat it & it didn't get startled the slightest bit. This is a very happy kitty. When walking down the halls to the restaurant don't forget to stop and look at the decor and photos along the way. Lots of history being shared. The restaraunt had a nice warm ambience, just what we love. We sat at the bar where we were served by a gentleman named Casey. We ordered two Espresso Martinis, Sex on the Beach, Mimosa, & a Shirley Temple extra cherries, all were made quickly & perfectly. For food we ordered the Brisket Mac & Cheese which was just OK, Lettuce Wraps which were good but not anything special, a Steak & a Cheeseburger. The Cheeseburger was super juicy & made to perfection. Highly recommend their burgers. The prices are reasonable. Our total with tip for a party of four came to $150.00 We all had a really nice time here & plan to come back again. Only issue I had which wasn't the places fault at all was the boots I was wearing. After a day of skiing, I had dinner at Foster's Boiler Room located inside The Common Man Inn & Spa. Open at 4PM on weekdays and at 12PM on weekends, Foster's Boiler Room has a very unique pub atmosphere, a large high ceiling room surrounded by brick walls, projector screen TV, with 4 tiers (levels) of dining space accessed via stairs and a fireplace at the bottom level. Most tables are high top with candlelight. The huge metal circular smokestack pipe from the fireplace (very hot) can be seen from each level. 70s rock & roll music can be heard blaring through the speakers. This restaurant and pub offers pretty much scaled down version of the typical Common Man restaurant menu of pub fare which includes appetizers, salads, stews, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, comfort dishes, and desserts. I was seated on the top level where I could see most of the action including the staff going in and out of the kitchen and going up and down the stairs to service tables on each level. I was given house ice water from the designated water guy. I started out with a cup of coffee, decent not too strong and the Uncommon Salad, which had field greens, gorgonzola, crushed candied hazelnuts & balsamic vinaigrette dressing, one of my favorite salads. I had some cheese & crackers, assorted crackers, but only one kind of cheese (Monterey Jack). For dinner, I had the Apple Almond Chicken served with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The chicken breasts were a bit rubbery texture on the outside, but the accompanying apple cider reduction with toasted almond slivers was sweet and had good flavors. The mashed potatoes were chunky and perfect. The green beans were nice and crunchy, a bit salty. For dessert, I went with the Hot Apple Pie ala Mode, nice flaky crust with a dense mixture of sweet apple chunks. The food was pretty good, but somehow the service was not that great tonight. I waited almost 10 minutes after being seated for the waitress to take my order, since she was busy taking care of a party of 4 skiers below me and some customers at the bar too. Once things got going, the salad and entree arrived in acceptable time. However, my dessert took a while to come out and the ice cream on the pie was forgotten, so another 10 minutes for that. I was initially charged an extra $1 for the coffee even though it should be included with the Real Meal, I had the bill corrected. I did get a refill on coffee fairly quickly though. It's not an easy job going up and down the stairs to wait on tables, so I'm going easy on the rating. If you want good food & drinks and not in any rush, Foster's Boiler Room offers a relaxed paced meal, especially after a long day of skiing or snowboarding. I still prefer dining at a regular Common Man restaurant with locations all over NH, which has a good menu, good food, consistent service, well stocked cheese & crackers, and free chocolate at the end of dinner. I ordered the American burger. Each burger comes with fries. The burger was good and well cooked. The fries were tasty and seasoned very well. However, people don't go out to eat for the decor, they go out to eat for the quality of food and service. For starters, my friend ordered a margarita that was not in a margarita glass, strange. She wasn't able to consume the drink because it was intolerably sour/bitter. She told the staff, and the woman sternly rebutted, "well, we put actual lemon and lime in our magarita as." Umm ok? The drink isn't even consumable, why would we care how you make it? We had to remind our waitress for our sodas, as they didn't come out.my mediocre Reuben appetizer came out first. My fiancé ordered a burger and asked it to be cooked medium. The burger was cooked well done. I ordered fish and chips which I thought was a meal you couldn't mess up, however it was the most bland tasting fish meal I've ever consumed in my life. The waitstaff didn't bother asking me how my meal was, so I didn't waste my time telling them. The kicker of this was what happened with my son, who has a sensory disorder. The restaurant was completely dead, and I took him over to the corner of the restaurant away from our table to calm him down a bit. No one else was in the area, but I wanted to be proactive in calming him down in case it picked up with more patrons later. My son briefly sat down on the wooden floor, and the manager told me to get him off the floor because they often spill drinks and there could be glass on the floor. 1) My son has a sensory disorder and was not bothering anyone NOR was he making a mess or a distraction in the establishment at all. 2) Why is your staff allegedly dropping so many glasses, and wouldn't you want to practice better clean up policies than allegedly leaving glass on the floor of your is the case? At the end of the meal, my friend motioned she wanted the same check for her table (our party was split into two tables). The waitress put the entirety of the bill from both tables on one check. When we corrected her error, she just said "oh sorry!" and made no attempt to void the transaction or rectify the issue- which would have been little trouble at all to do. Needless to say, we won't be back. Being in the service industry myself, I tend to give the business the benefit of the doubt, however this experience was completely worth the negative rating through and through. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to stay at the Common Man Inn, and the Fosters Boiler Room is a nice touch to the inn. Very quiet, well decorated environment, with a friendly staff. We were taken care of by Dawn who was very respectful and personable. The prices for their meals aren't too bad. Their cheese and crackers are very good. My girlfriend and I got the Three Fork Salad with French Onion Soup. The salad had a maple pecan dressing, with crumbled blue cheese, pecans, and apples. The salad tasted very fresh, and the flavors combined beautifully. I opted to get the grilled chicken on my salad, which was also very good. The French onion soup was amazing! One of the best we have had. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner date. read more

Most ingredients were very good but the Brussels sprouts were undercooked. The entrées were uneven. My wife's fish and chips were excellent, with crisp fries and a generous portion of coleslaw. My noodles in chili-garlic sauce were a little disappointing, as they were served swimming in sauce. The service was friendly and attentive but delayed. A big party had overwhelmed the kitchen. We had some of the same dishes as before, but the quality was not as good. The bang-bang chicken was just OK compared to before. The Reuben bites were larger but that only meant that they never cooked all the way through. They were mushy and the cheese wasn't melted. As for the cheese, They have started using the same tasteless white cheese in everything. They also used it in the nachos and the salad. The nachos were bland and soggy. The 'chop-chop salad' is not what you might expect for a chopped salad. It looks like someone was just lazy in preparing it. As for the service, we were seated by a hostess, had 2 waitresses take our order, one was in training. Our food came quickly followed by 4 different people asking how it was before we had hardly tasted it. Then they all disappeared into the kitchen. We had to flag them down to get drink refills. Then we had to flag them down for the check. We waited longer than normal for someone to come and get the check. All of this might have been expected if they were busy, but there were only a few other diners there and at least 5 wait staff. Since it has been better in the past, we might give it another try sometime, but there are lots of better places nearby. Try Six Burner Bistro or the Lucky Dog. read more

We love this building. We walked around and it is so nice. We went on Monday night so it was not very busy. Food was really good. The young man who was the manager in training that night was so nice and informative. He will be a great manager. Our server, Kaylie, was busy as we could see in the kitchen door window laughing and chatting. We honestly waited forever to be greeted, drinks,order etc. she then literally dropped our food off and nearly ran from the table. The manager had been chatting at the table with us about the restaurant etc when she brought our food and the 3 of us were shocked at her service. We had to flag her down for our check way after we were done. She did not come back one time from bringing our food until our check. We wanted a couple more drinks while eating but we left thirsty. We will definitely go back but absolutely will be sure to have a different server. read more
