How I have not written a review for Sunset at Pismo, dishing out delicious food out of an Airstream right on the Pismo Pier, by now is beyond me as I discovered it in summer 2023 and have been back here over 5 times since. My go-to almost every time is the Pismo Steak sandwich loaded with thick sliced Filet Mignon, a slice of queso fresco, red onions, tomato, and lettuce. Since it's served on a brioche bun, this one is not a great one to pre-order for pickup as it will get super soggy really taking away from the experience. Definitely an order and dine on site option. We have tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and fancy chick over the multiple visits, but the Pismo Steak is the one that has my heart. Paired with a side of Panko Mac N Cheese balls and this beautiful view right from the pier and you can't ask for anything more. read more

Absolutely shocked that I haven't reviewed Sunsets At Pismo yet. We live in Mesa, AZ, but have made it a tradition the last couple of years to drive up to Pismo Beach from the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles to enjoy dinner and a sunset. Love the converted Airstream on the pier with huge chairs facing the setting sun. If you look the other direction right after sunset you may catch a moonrise also. My go-to is the Pismo Steak Sandwich - so good and worth the price. My wife enjoys the Sunsets Salad with delicious shrimp. We have told friends to go to Pismo's and just last year we brought a fair friend to experience it with us. The service is good, and the food takes some time to get to you, but it is hot and fantastic when it does. Very friendly staff that handles a never-ending crowd. Highly recommend it for the food and the experience of eating by the setting sun. Bring your camera and watch out for hungry seagulls. read more

When I first came here I tried the chicken sandwich, but my favorite was soon replaced by the Pismo Beach filet mignon sandwich. The medium cooked filet mignon is so tender, you but throught it and it easily breaks up. Topped with the melty queso cheese and you have one amazing sandwich. Plot your self down on the pier at a table and enjoy. I would highly recommend this to everyone. Another great item is the panko mac and cheese balls. Deep fried which give it a great crust and melty in the center I have been here for lunch and an early dinner, but never tried the breakfast. The food here is very good... but the view is everything. I absolutely love food trucks and one parked on the pier overlooking the ocean is a special experience. The clam chowder was average but tasty. The filet mignon sandwich was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and the accompanying fries extra crispy. Prices are average for the location. I grabbed a seat behind the truck and enjoyed a great lunch. Suggestion is to come early to beat the rush because it can get very busy. Food came out quickly and service was great. Service: 3.5/5 The girls at the register were nice. The person who was bringing out our food, gave our food away. I realized I didn't get my food for almost 30 min. I think maybe they should have a better system in bringing out food, in my opinion. The price is expensive. This was my first time trying Sunsets at Pismo. The lady behind the register was great, she had an amazing smile and was so polite. We just needed a little something to hold us over and decided to get the Large Fries! It was a great choice, it was big enough for 3 adults to snack on. I think they have the perfect location since they are right on the pier, you don't have to travel far from the beach when hungry. They have a cute seating area on the pier but please keep in mind pets are Not Allowed on the pier. We will definitely be back for more! read more

My fiancé and I tried this little food truck on a whim and it was so worth it! I got the wake and bacon tacos, and I was so impressed. It was my first time trying micro cilantro (that's the greenery on top), and I really liked it. They also came with grilled onions, red peppers and a delicious salsa.) The service was good, we walked up and ordered and then took a walk on the pier while we waited (it was about 10 min) but the person who took our order was really nice and greeted us with a smile. This was definitely a fun place to eat. There are a couple airstream trailers on the wharf at Pismo Beach. One offers visitor information and the other offers food. Tables are set up on the wharf so the views are excellent. We ordered a hot dog and fries and also a bowl of clam chowder. The food was good. We had no complaints. My wife found this food truck on instagram. We were in California yo go to sequoia national park and drove 3 hours to go here specifically. It DID NOT disappoint. It was a rainy and cold early evening but we waited for the food. Then went back for seconds. We probably spent $150 that day with me, my wife , and my two 20is yo sons. They f I could highlight one thing (it was all outstanding) the filet mignon sandwich left us all speechless. Everybody at the truck was super nice and they had one young server walking around who found a table for us with a heater and turned it on for us because none of us had brought coats that day. We took my mother in law who was visiting from the valley. This place is location location location. It's on the Pismo pier. At high tide, the water is under the restaurant. The ambience is chef's kiss is you are looking for a beach restaurant experience. It's pub food. The food is good. There are vegan options. Most of the food is fried. At the front of the pier the most adorable trailer is set up, and you can grab a bite to eat while drinking a cold beer and enjoying the beautiful view. Sunset at Pismo is such a fun place to eat. Located right on up here in Pismo, you can't miss it. The kitchen area itself is located in an adorable airstream. In the current state of things you walk up to the roped off entry and place your order. When your order is ready they will call your name and you may then come back and decide if you want to take your food with you or if you would like to sit at one of the socially distance tables out on the pier. When I went I chose to sit on the pier and I had the Fancy Lady chicken sandwich without sauce. And the sandwiches came with the choice of french fries or some sort of a salad. Of course you have to choose the fries the first time you go right? The fries are amazing. Full of flavor, crunchy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. They were thin and delicious. The fancy lady chicken sandwich I had was also amazing. The fried chicken breast was fried to perfection. It wasn't too crunchy or too soft and it was full of flavor. The woman who took my order was kind, courteous and answered any questions that I had. As I was sitting there eating I noticed the man who was in the airstream cooking asking people who were sitting down to eat how their food was. Though he didn't see me sitting in the corner I think that it is amazing that he did that and genuinely wanted to know what the customers were thinking. Now the view, you can't beat the view. The roped off seating area is so nice. You have a choice of sitting at standard outdoor tables, bar height outdoor tables or even fun chairs that have a little mini ledge table attached to it that are right up against the pier. It is so serene and relaxing to sit there looking out at the ocean enjoying some amazing food. The only thing that would've made this experience that much better is if there were something on the menu that my husband was able to eat other than french fries. If they started selling chicken strips and fries that would be amazing not just because it something my husband can eat but it's definitely some thing, based on the delicious fried piece of chicken I had inside of my sandwich, that so many people, kids included, would love. read more

This is an AWESOME surprise! Food Truck on a Peer in Pismo Beach, CA (Really it is more than 1) I am so glad I gave it a try today. The Fish-N-Chips were delicious and just the right level of crispy golden brown and of course the atmosphere was beautiful all around. The service was swift and top notch and even the blended strawberry-lime blended marg. with Tajin rim was yummy perfection! (I was there mid afternoon Tuesday) so people but not crowded so no long wait or line thankfully. We decided to dine here based off of the reviews but they were definitely misleading. Maybe things were better in the past but it seems like things have gone down recently. Just finished dining here spending $50 for elote, the Baja fish tacos and fish and chips. Can't help but feel like we were ripped off and still left hungry. The best thing we had were the fries which were plentiful and abundant unlike the rest of the dishes we got. The fish tacos had the thinnest sliver of fish, the fish and chips seemed to have to come with the same anemic fish as the tacos but battered and fried. Food was sub par and not anything special for the $47 we spent on just 2 meals, the overbearing spicy pineapple salsa kind of ruined my tacos, and the male host who seated us was rude and had a bad attitude because I had a service dog with me. He made it clear he didn't approve and had a negative tone when referring to my dog. My dog is a licensed service dog with our city of residence, and we didn't appreciate the display of attitude. He "assisted" us the rest of the visit without talking to us or serving us at all. Not even a "thanks for visiting, have a nice day". Probably won't be back here next time we visit Pismo. Got back home and they put the salsa on the tacos, it was spicy with pineapple, corn, etc. No ingredients provided for the salsa. It was halfway edible. The fish itself was tasty.
