From what i've seen this is one fo the more popular wash spots in The City. It's centrally located pretty far up Mission & accessible by a few of the more popular bus routes making it an ideal spot to stop and do laundry. One bonus of being a patron at this establishment is you get a free laundry bag upon signing up. One major downside is the price fluctuates for washing & could easily eat up your laundry bankroll on one of the more expensive days. The location interior is usually pretty quiet & clean the people who frequent the location are also in turn respectful. If the price was lower it would have gotten a higher score but the price point for me makes it "mid pack". Overall this place is a wash spot. Nothing more nothing less. Your money is always good here for sure. Being a POC doesn't seem to have a bearing on the quality of service you receive due to the fact its self service. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! Management takes a while in fixing customer issues (our refund took several weeks to get, made it sound like it was our fault that there was no water coming in the washer- we stood in front of the defective washer for 10mins to make sure and showed it to the employees.) Super convenient that it's 24/7. I mean, when a girl's got a late night urge to do laundry I guess this place hits the spot. However I will say that girl ain't me. Honestly this area gets a little sketch super late and I wouldn't wanna be in here solo dolo. Anyway, if you can grab one of the parking spots out front consider yourself laundry queen. Otherwise you'll be circling the block frustrated. But that's the nature of this area of the Excelsior. Parking sucks. I've actually made this place my backup spot if I can't find parking at the Coin-op on San Jose. Mainly because this place gets SO crowded. Laundry should be therapeutic, not boxing out to snag a dryer. For you ladies and gents that wash clothes on delicate cycle, sadly you won't find that here. They only have the large commercial washers so you'll have to go elsewhere if you're looking for options other than temperature (Hot, Warm, Cold). So I'm sitting here doing a load while my delicates are in the hamper getting no laundry love. Bummed I'll have to stop at another laundromat to wash em. I am sitting in the car, out front of Chestnut Laundromat in South city, re-washing all my clothes & bedding. Re-washing, as in, I already laundered all of these items @ Clean Wash Center just before midnight last night. I have not slept, yet. I have a severe Laundry Detergent Allergy (blue dyes & strongly-scented perfumes). I've used laundromats & shared-home laundry machines for several years, now, without any issues (given that other people before & after me, wash using detergents that I am allergic to). I threw everything into a 4-loader washer, adjacent the window-side (folding table area). A small dymo label sticker on the machine read: USE ONLY 1/2 CUP OF DETERGENT (or something along those lines). I filled a 1/2 cup of trusty old 'All: Free & Clear' detergent & all was good- until I got home after. Upon folding & putting my laundered items away, I decided to wash up & get some sleep before class in the morning. Before I go on, these are the laundered items I came into contact with before the allergic reaction: 1) Shower Towel 2) Pajamas 2) Bedding. I lied down to sleep & noticed a subtle shortness in breath. I cracked the window open, thinking the air must be stuffy in my room. Then, I lied down, again. I began feeling nauseous. I tried taking deeper breaths & the nausea & tightness in my chest got worse. I ended up running to the bathroom & threw up 2 times before connecting the dots that my room was filled with a traumatizing, familiar smell of a sickeningly-sweet perfume of the regular detergents I'm allergic to. I quickly showered and used a clean towel that wasn't a part of the mix & felt I could breathe a little better, afterwards. I suspect the washer has issues taking all the detergent out of clothes leaving residue from previous users, as well as, a good amount of my own detergent. That left me with a shit-ton of of oversoaped & dried clothing & bedding, an allergic reaction, ZERO sleep & a motherfckin headache of a mess to re-wash. Also, everything came out of the washer lukewarm/cold even though I selected the 'Hot Wash' cycle. :/!! I love that they're 24/7. I hate that machines are clearly not functioning properly & rather than temporarily labeling them as 'OUT OF ORDER' (as they should), are out in the mix for unlucky customers to choose & spend money on. This laundromat gets in a lot of traffic due to the fact that it is in the middle of a lot of businesses and it stands alone. I like coming to this laundromat because they have lots of washers and dryers, duh.. and it's open 24/7. The workers here are super friendly. I believe that this laundromat is owned by Filipinos especially since most of the workers are. Though, their machines can be pricey/cheap, depends on which you use. They do hold a lottery at the end of each month which is always fun. The purpose of why I go to the laundromat is when I'm super lazy to do laundry for an entire day at home, I can have all my laundry done in literally an hour or two. At home, I'd have to use the same washer but at the laundromat, I can use like 5 washers at once if I'd like. read more

I couldn't remember the name of this place so I did a search on this place using the phrase "24 hour launromats" but it didn't come up. This should be corrected because this is one of this place's best features. You can stop in here any time day or night and it will be full of normal people washing their clothes and watching TV. I have never had any trouble here, even in the early AM hours. The interior is brightly lit and always decorated to celebrate the current holiday season. I remember driving by this place and seeing the HUGE 24 hour wash & dry sign and thinking, now, who is going to wash their clothes at off-hours of the day. Well, needless to say, I found myself doing this very thing when I got down to the last pair of unmentionables...the key to my apartment complex laundry didn't work and I was driven to go. Once I got there, I noticed a slim, kind-looking gentleman standing in front. The floor is so clean (achieved by constant and vigilant mopping of the owner) that you can eat off ot it. No kiddin'! Amongst the shiny steel washers where large, gaudy bunches of flowers, all with heart helium balloons attached, in anticipation of Valentine's Day. On one side, there is a large, ceramic figure of Jesus and instead of a crown of thorns, a halo of empty bleach bottles hover on top of a shelf above his head. There are plastic, colored disco-type balls, festooned with gayly colored ribbons, dangling from the ceiling in several places and also a large screen TV which heralded news from all corners of the globe. But what's best about this place is that the owner (yes, that unassuming fellow who was in front of the place) gives back to his customers each month by holding a drawing for a wonderful prize, which could be a DVD player (!), if you're lucky! There are a couple of drawbacks: the dryers are a bit on the pricey side--a quarter will buy you only 6 minutes worth of drying--so expect to pay about $2.00 for a single load. Some of the washers warn you against putting heavy clothes in (what's considered heavy?) and if you break this rule, you're liable to have to do another wash at a later time because the unit doesn't drain properly and you'll have to fish your clothes out and into and plastic bag. The friendly owner happily gave me a large plastic bag to put my duds in and spoke not a discouraging word. (No wonder there are several large towels set around the place--I thought that other customers left them!). This is a good place to go if you have to have clean clothes. My washer/dryer was damaged and, while waiting for a claim to settle, I've been going to Clean Wash Center to get my laundry done. Although Clean Wash Center is my ONLY experience with a self-served laundromat, I've been using them for over 4 months now so am quite familiar with the place. The place is well-lit and open 24 hours. There is always an attendent near by who is quick to help if you experience a problem. Although there is a big parking lot nearby, it appears to belong to a mechanic and is not for public use. You therefore have to park on the street. Most of the curb in front of the center is painted in red with only a few metered spots available. It is therefore VERY difficult to park during the day so, if you need to park, I recommend coming late at night and even when you come at night, chances are high that you'll find yourself parked on a red curb, hoping that one of the 4 metered parking spots in front of the store opens up soon so that you can repark your car. Everyone that I've met there has been ultra-kind. Although all types of people are often at the center, when I go (which is late at night), I usually find mothers doing LOADS of laundry. And these mothers tend to be, well, motherly when I talk to them. I've gotten plenty of advice and help from other patrons while doing laundry there. Small trash cans are located in the middle of the center rows of washers and are not in the usual spots that you'd expect a trash can. There are also 2 TV's and seats along the perimeter. As of today 6/30/14, prices are $3.25 to wash a small load (A sign on the washer says that it is equivalent to 2 laundry baskets full. I find that 2 laundry baskets is about the same size as what you can fit in a standard brown paper grocery bag), $4.25 a medium load (3 laundry baskets pictured on the machine) and $5.25 for a large load (4 laundry baskets pictured on the machine). Drying costs a quarter every 6 minutes. read more

I have been going here for years. Every so often they would have a dryer spin but would not heat up or a problem with the washing machine. We the customer pay for it because, we inform the person on duty and they have you put your name on a ledger and supposedly they would call you and tell you the owner/manager would have you go back and get your refund the money you placed in the machine. Not one time did I ever care, or think twice about it due to the fact close to my residence and it wasn't much. That all changed a few months ago. I went there and I placed money on 7 laundry machines. The place was packed and every machine was occupied. When the washing machines finished their cycle and stopped, every one of the clothes were soaking wet. All the customers that opened their machines had the same issues. I also noticed there were puddles of water in the machines, but after 5 minutes the puddles drained out but the clothes were soaked wet. Long story the owner/ manager blamed us we had pa ked too many y clothes in machine why all our machines malfunctioned. Our mistake was we didn't exchange numbers with some of the other customers. We left that place with wet clothes and had to redo our entire laundry at another laundry facility. Hate this place. They treat their customers badly. read more

This place not only has plenty of machines, they are also brand new! During my visit, I was only able to spot 1 out-of-service machine in the entire establishment. While the prices per load at Clean Wash Center & Dry Cleaners tend to be a little on the premium side, this places makes up for it with its convenience and cleanliness. Well, I've been here twice, and I was disappointed on both occasions. The first time I couldn't get the machine to take my money. I asked the attendent for help and he didn't seem to care. I asked if he could just watch my huge bags of laundry, then, while I go across the street and get a different bill or something, (since I had been dropped off and I had no place to put them). Nope. "I can't be responsible." Dude, I'm coming right back. I'm not really crazy about leaving my clothes with you in the first place! And I live a block away. Or does that not mean anything anymore? What with the process one can go through to get an apartment in the City, I am actually probably a pretty upstanding citizen when you think about it. I didn't go back for a while after that. The second time was quite a while later. One of the machines didn't spin the clothes enough, and I spent a fortune on drying, and I was there forever longer than I should have been. i've been going here with my mom for over 6 years and this is the BEST SELF-SERVE laundry in the city!! Why? 1. It's spacious so you aren't fighting with other people for washers,dryers, seats. There are LOTS of washers and dryers and 3 change machines!! Even if some washers or dryers are not working or being repaired, there are a LOT MORE that DO work!! Yeah, a lot of people use them, but as long as you avoid Thursdays, Fridays and the weekends, the number of people is light. In fact, we usually go in the mornings from 7am on Mondays-Wednesdays and there's barely any other customers there!! 2. If I have ANY problem, I want someone there!!!! Here, at CWC, there's always a friendly effective attendant to help you. example: if your washer doesn't spin, the change machine refuses to give you back change, you spilt some coffee on the floor by accident, etc. I've been at other self-serve laundry places and lost $20 bills in their messed up change machines and the lazy greedy owner never responds, but here you can get it FIXED RIGHT AWAY by ONE OF THE MANY ATTENDANTS at a washer or dryer!! 3. There's wi-fi in case you need to check your email. It's not comfortable to use your laptop here without chairs with combined desks and there are no elecrical outlets anywhere in the laundry, but at least if it's THAT IMPORTANT to check something on the web or your email in the 2 hours you have to do your laundry, then you can do it. 4. Hungry or thirsty while waiting for your clothes to wash or dry?? In addition to the soda and snack machines in the laundry, there are cheap eateries galore around the laundry as well as a previously owned Martha's gourmet coffeeshop now named Cumaica only a half block away. In addition, the laundry has a bathroom!!! But be careful not to fall in their dimly lit ill-shaped restroom area. There's also a Walgreens also a half block away across the street with an ATM as well as a Bank of America, Wells Fargo and other small banks nearby if you need to get money for the laundry. )There's also a Chase bank across the street but I don't think they have outside ATM's.) 5. There's only street parking so IF YOU'RE COMING BY CAR, I strongly advise you come early with your cash to laundry if you don't want any hassles trying to find parking. There's also less traffic in the early mornings. Just remember if you come early, most shops aren't open like Walgreens if you want to take out cash (without fees) while at the checkout. They do NOT accept CC or debit cards . You MUST have cash($20 bills as highest denomination) if you want to start your washing and/or drying right away!! 6. On that note, CWC is across the street from bus stops 29, 14, 14R if you want to come by bus so if you do NOT like getting on crowded buses like me, you can come in on a Mon-Wed when the buses aren't so crowded. 7. Because of how they configure their washers, you do NOT need to use a lot of detergent. 8. Forgot your bleach, detergent, etc? They have machines that have them. The items are expensive, but they're fully equipped. 9. A laundry that's open 24 hours!!! Hooray, I can come as early or late as I want. 10. And by far, last, but not least, because attendants are there 24 hours a day, you don't have to worry about some weird panhandler or thieves or other "bad" crowds hanging around here, especially in the nights or mornings. I'm comfortable bringing my 83-year old mom here. Even 6 or more years ago when there were a lot of homeless in SF, the homeless that came here at that time were of the MILD variety. Nowadays, we RARELY to NEVER run into them. I don't even run into the Jehovah's Witnesses here unlike everywhere else on Mission St.!!!! This does NOT mean I would leave my cart and personal items UNATTENDED!! Attendants are busy and don't have time to watch your stuff! Bring your personal items with you when you go out to eat/drink while washing/drying or have a buddy along to watch them. The prices, yes, are getting more expensive, but if you add in ALL THE ABOVE you're getting, it's a deal!!! And I could care less whether the water's hot enough. My clothes keep coming out smelling good and looking clean, so I'm not going to complain just because they want to be frugal with their utilities. read more

People rudely jump in front of you to take the washer your intended to put your second load in, machines are twice as expensive as the laundromats in the Haight, claims free Wi-Fi, but it's disconnected. The hot water cycle doesn't use hot water, and the spin cycle barely spins your clothes, so you have to spend more in the dryer. Don't come here. Don't give these people your business. Well.. One star for location, another star for being decently clean and one last star for free wifi. There's pretty much no parking. I put in two quarters for 12 min but the dryer just stopped after two min. I was waiting right in front of the dryer! Nothing that the attendant can do, it's not his fault but the technician told me its out of order and walked away. Also, the spin cycle in these washers SUCK. They literally will leave you pulling out dripping wet clothes so you have to use the dryers for longer. I guess that's just how it is..? read more

So this review is based on a comparison between the only other 24 hr laundromat in the city, Fiesta. Clean Wash Ctr is by far better -- cleaner, with a better crowd *inside* the laundromat. Clean Wash is big, with many high end front loading machines, and even at 2am, there were some very nice to quiet people inside. Outside, being that it's Excelsior, there are crackheads screaming at one another and other, a couple of lively bars, and most important -- 4 banks all around (ie. the area is under heavy camera surveillance). Attendant was pleasant. Decor was neighborhoody quaint. In the wee hours, parking was not a problem. read more

Decided to use drop-off laundry service for the first time. it seems like when they did the laundry, no detergent was used. Not only this, all clothes were not folded properly and wrinkled, so I had to iron everything. And the worst part is - all dress shirts now have stains on them. I do not recommend anyone using this service or I guess a laundromat period, since it is so dirty that it leaves stains. I would like owners of this place to really think about WHAT a drop-off service is and why people who use it once, will never come back. read more
