This helicopter ride was fun for the whole family :) our pilot Andy was great, knowledgeable of the area, fun and made us feel very safe the whole time. We couldn't go over Haleakala due to weather condition, were re-routed towards Molokai which was a bit of a bummer but still great. read more

We arrived Maui two days ago & immediately planned to explore Maui in the the shortest time so we took a helicopter tour that was the most recommended & best value in time & budget. We arrived in time & then everything was ready & clear they explained to us the safety procedures and rules which was very helpful. Be sure to remember your seat number it is a must when you get in line to the ride. The receptionist Lu Nae , pilot Christina & the assistant Jennifer were amazing & helpful & funny the brought the sun to owe day Besides the wonderful one of a kind ride that will be remember for the rest of our life as a family celebrating in this Holiday. My friend and I had such a great experience with pilot Chrissy (five stars) and the Sunshine ground crew that I sent my mother and her partner the next day. While they enjoyed the flight, their pilot (Simon?) didn't share much if any information during the tour which is such a shame. Chrissy was not only skilled but knowledgable and warm. She pointed out different aspects of Kauai including coffee farms, Steve Case's ranch, and much more. I wanted that experience for my mother and didn't completely get it. BTW the Whisper Star is a very smooth ride - highly recommend it. read more

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. So thankful that I was able to experience this with my sister. Just letting you know, you must pay for parking and as they say, "don't press the yellow button." Lol You'll know what I mean. The whole staff was amazing. Luann was so helpful and handled everything as a pro. It was just her running the front desk bcuz the other worker is on vacation. As a reminder, do not bring purse or any loose items. Spencer was an excellent pilot and loved his information on the flight because it was so informative. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. read more

The ride was beautiful and scenic. The only thing I was disappointed with was the sound system. We could not hear/understand the pilot very well and neither could the pilot hear/understand the questions we asked. So, the commentary could definitely have been better. We could see everything but not hear everything. read more

This was my first experience riding in a helicopter, and wow! The experience is amazing and I am not sure there is any other helicopter tours that would come close. We saw some of the best sights including ones that were filmed in Jurassic Park. Yes, these sights were surreal. And it wouldn't be a complete Hawaiian experience unless our pilot flew in sandals. Easy to get to the hanger. The check-in staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable as we prepared for our tour. Uncle John was our pilot. He provided a LOT of detail during the tour and showed us multiple waterfalls, flew into the inner parts of the island. We REALLY liked that he took the opportunity to maneuver the chopper so riders on BOTH sides could see what he was talking about! I've been on other helicopter rides before- they don't normally do this! Be aware that it CAN be (aka IS) turbulent in some parts of the ride- it isn't the pilot's fault. It's just a fact. Wind sheer is a reality in the Hawaiian islands. PS Pay the extra money for the group picture and for the cockpit video/outside video. I wish we knew about this BEFORE the ride so I wouldn't have Taken so many videos and pictures myself during the ride. I would have just soaked it all in. Thank you Sunshine Helicopters read more

Have to say this was the highlight of my trip! My first time in a helicopter and the pilot Carlos and all the employees made us feel welcome, safe and comfortable. Carlos was very knowledgeable and shared lots of history about the island while in the air. We flew over the rainforest and saw beautiful waterfalls, saw the volcano and the road to Hana and the coastline was beautiful. It's well worth the money, highly recommended! read more

Doors off is absolutely the way to go but please come prepared in addition to wear in the flight suit it was pretty chilly up there. Being cold was just a small sacrifice to pay for the absolute beautiful creations you will see well up in the aircraft. We chose the road to Hana and what a treat! Don't forget to tip and bring your patience's!

The female half was a pilot. While talking she recommended to us that we should take a sunset flight over Maui with her old boss at Maui Plane Rides. She said it was truly a life changing experience. Well, that was enough for us, we booked one and embarked on our journey a few days later. We arrived to the small airport and met our pilot, Eric was his name maybe? He was originally from New York and was a very friendly fellow. He did his pre flight checks and we loaded into the plane and away we went. The pilot flew us all over the island and he was a very informative with his knowledge of the island and local history. The flight path he took was truly EPIC! He let my wife fly the plane for about 5 minutes, which was super cool of him. The flight was absolutely a must do if you have the opportunity and the funds. You will never see a sunset quite like the sunset over Maui from a plane. It was the most beautiful sunset ever. And I have seen many sunsets in many locales. The experience was top notch, the pilot was A+++++ and the night was truly incredible as our newly met Colorado friends stated it would be. I cannot recommend Maui Plane Rides enough, the experience was truly like nothing we've ever done before.

After the flight, I requested a partial refund because we only received about half of the promised tour. The pilot then claimed he had warned us that weather would prevent us from seeing several locations, which simply isn't true. I understand that weather can affect flights, but customers should be clearly informed when major parts of the advertised experience won't be delivered. Poor communication and misleading expectations made this a frustrating experience.

Just because I do have flight experience, if you don't, do not let that sway you away from this experience. The views of the island are stunning and it's something you wouldn't otherwise experience. For my GA friends who are looking to say they "flew in the islands" this is a must do. The landscape, the weather, and the overall experience absolutely worth it.

We got a pilot and plane at Maui Aviators that were perfect. Our pilot (Lewis) was professional, efficient, understand what we wanted and was also humorous. He gave me confidence to do pretty much all of the taxiing, takeoff, flight, maneuvers, approach and most of the landing/flare. The winds were pretty gusty.

Ian is a fantastic CFI who did a spectacular job given that I was a rusty pilot who hasn't flown much during the pandemic. He balanced my need to gawk at the sites, take pictures, and gauged my skill and comfort levels to give the perfect level of guidance for me to log some cool landings. Due to a scheduling issue we were also in a bit of a time crunch and he did a great job tailoring our route to make the most of our time. Thank you another amazing experience and motivating me to become more current now that I'm home - if I had an instructor like that here I'm pretty sure I'd be punching through a lot of ratings. Looking forward to flying with Maui Aviators again!

I needed to go from Kahalui to Waimea and boy was this easy. Small planes, with really nice staff, from counter to pilots. Our flights were easy, quick and fun. You can no longer watch the cockpit on regular flights, but you can watch the take off and landing on these flights, so much FUN. We met our dog in Waimea and came right back to Maui. So simple. The only negative is that our schedule changed several times but nothing that really made a difference for us. I will definitely use them again in the future. So easy to get from island to island without having to go through Oahu.

Way too many ownership changes over the years for one to expect quality to still be in the top 5 company goals. I had multiple reservations/flights cancelled for BS reasons and then customer service was terrible every fricken time I called - no idea where the call center is, but it's crap too. The last time, they didn't even bother to process the refund I had called to request in the first place so I had to call back and burn another 30 minutes on the phone to do it all over again. Wasted more than 5 hours of my life between setting up flights with the transport of an animal between the islands and then having to request refunds because they would cancel the flights 24-36 hours in advance for one of a multitude of reasons which was different depending on who I talked to. First it was an "unscheduled maintenance", then it was "staffing", then it was "regular maintenance with no back up plane planned" and finally "weather related" and "unforeseen circumstances". And each and every time, the flights were cancelled more than 24 hours in advance...what in the actual FFF? Over and over again during the course of a week of flights, they'll happily sell you tickets on flights they just continually (planned to) cancel. STOP SELLING TICKETS if you can't actually supply the flights. Get your sh*t together or close up shop. Don't waste your time booking and just avoid the nightmare.
