After some consideration I decided a residential solar water heater was the optimal way to replace my aged 40 gallon gas fired water heater. I checked with a number of companies and chose Suntrek. I initially asked for a much larger tank of 120 gal but was advised that my small family used very little hot water and low water flow through a big tank can cause problems, so I agreed to an 80 gal tank with a built-in backup electric heating element. I have a two story house with a basement-like area under the house for the hot water tank; I got a clear description of where each component would go. It took a long time (like two months) for the materials to be delivered but once they were on hand, Suntrek installed it in two days, removing the old tank and associated plumbing. The crew was professional, efficient, and polite. I was without hot water for only a few hours. The motor that circulates the fluid through the system is so quiet that I would likely not notice it running while standing next to it unless I listen for it. After three months, I am pleased with the (CO2 free) solar hot water. There is almost nothing I need to do in the way of maintenance. The water is not quite as hot in late October as it was in August, but that is as expected. read more

Suntrek installed my home solar system about 14 years ago. It has worked perfectly all these years until one of my inverter boxes stopped working. There was a choice of just replacing the old box or doing a LOT more work on the system to upgrade it to a newer box. I preferred the former, since it was less expensive and could be done more easily. I had a 52 panel solar system put in 8 years ago (2012) for $80k by SunTrek. Yes we got tax deductions, great savings from the solar system, etc. SunTrek got a lot of money and made a profit. Five years ago my roof started leaking, I needed it repaired. Suntrek yoffered $5000 to remove and replace all the panels. I had the roof patched without doing that. This year my roof started leaking again. I needed to remove the panels. The new bid was $7800 to remove and replace the panels by SunTrek. The system works well, it's still produces electricity. There are some panels with bad spots that probably should be replaced out under warranty. But I really needed my roof fixed. SunTrek pushed to sell me a $40k system, more efficient. They were telling me I could write off a part of the roof repair and the new solar system. Unbelievable. I am leasing out the house and whether it has a solar system or not, the new renters will pay for their electricity. The system works it did not need to be replaced just pulled off the roof and put back down. I recently retired and do not have $40,000 or an extra $7800 to put out on top of a roof repair. I competitively bid and have the work done by someone else. It is a shame that this company does not have a reasonable program to help homeowners repair roof leaks. My lesson is for anyone getting a solar contract, find out what clauses are included to repair a leaking roof. Very disappointed in Suntrek They make good money on me eight years ago and we're trying to make good money on me again. Perhaps this is the way they treat women. We had this system installed on our roof for our swimming pool 12 years ago. It's still working!! No leaks and still heats up our pool about 6 degrees higher than otherwise without solar. The system at that time cost about $3,300 and heats up our enormous swimming pool. The system covers our entire back roof. The only downside is the sensors have to be replaced about every five years at a cost of a couple hundred dollars. I suppose that is to be expected. Overall I'm glad we got this and would highly recommend Suntrek to anyone. read more

I am a very picky homeowner i have continued to use Suntrek for other energy needs to bring my energy costs down.
