The Kefta melt was the family favorite! Flavorful, filling, and rich! The ingredients were fresh and carefully prepared and served. The salad has a salty and sour vinaigrette with a nice crunchy texture. The fries were heavily seasoned, delightfully battered and fried to perfection. The dining area was spacious and accommodating to large groups. The swivel stools, metal tables and seating were clean, simple, & modern. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We returned with a large group within the same weekend and the staff handled it graciously. If you happen to go in a large group it would be helpful to call ahead to let them know so they can prep things ahead of time.

Zaatar sandwich with halloumi and side salad

Stopped by on a weekday for lunch with a work group. The menu has a good variety to please most people. Since this location was previously a pizza spot, the pizza oven is used to make fresh lavash used in all of the sandwiches as well as cook the appetizer bites. I will note there are a limited number of vegan/vegetarian menu items. When ordering the zaatar wrap, I upgraded and added halloumi to make the sandwich more filling. The staff accommodated the lack of a meal option with the zaatar sandwich by adding a side salad. The dressing on the salad was bright with sumac and a perfect addition to any sandwich. Since there were two back to back larger groups, our orders took a little bit longer than anticipated. The staff apologized multiple times and treated us to dessert to make up for it. None of us were planning to order any dessert but I would certainly recommend a little Nutella treat as long as you aren't allergic.

The place used to be...or was last I guess a pizza place. So they have this big pizza oven that they use to make really excellent flat breads for the sandwiches. It kinda different, it's been open for a little bit but we just made it over there and did take out to our work which is just across the street. I am a sucker for coleslaw on sandwiches so the Street Burger Sandwich was an obvious first try. Beef patty, mozzarella, tomato, pickles, coleslaw, fries, fresh onions, smoky sauce. It came with za'atar fries and a small salad. The salad was excellent, crunchy, sweet, sour, lots of great textures and spices and a good amount of acidity. The fries again very good, great spice, crunchy and different. The sandwich is big, they cut it in half and one half would have been plenty. The bread is super good, like a thin pita, it was a messy sandwich but the bread held it all together. I am a big fan of that flat bread. It seems like one side of my sandwich had the cole slaw (very good cole slaw too!) and the other had the fries. Not sure if that was intentional, but it worked. The Street Burger Sandwich was really good, no complaints, the burger paddy was...fine, a bit lost in everything else. We all really enjoyed it and being so close it will not be our last time there.

Sunwish is a newly opened Lebanese restaurant and I'm so happy it's open. It's a casual dine in restaurant where you place your order at the register or self-serve kiosk, have a seat, and your order gets brought out to you on lovely silver trays. Drinks are self serve and dining ware is disposable. All the food is made fresh, in house, and prepared to order. The bread is DELICIOUS! We watched the staff stretch the fresh dough and prepare everything right in front of us. The oven it was cooked in is so unique. The food comes up really quick too. For starters, we tried the Golden Halloumi which are tasty fried halloumi sticks with a fresh thousand island dipping sauce. We also had the BITE mix which was so flavorful! I really like the Zaatar, but all 3 flavors were good - including the olives and I normally don't like olives. They're little flat, round bread bites similar to a flatbread. We ordered several different sandwiches and they were all different in flavor, yet so delicious. Hubs ordered the Kefta OG which came with a small salad and fries. The Kefta was juicy and had just the perfect amount of seasoning. The in-house made bread was thin and yet sturdy to hold in all the ingredients making it a perfect sandwich. I love cheese so I ordered the bacon halloumi which did not disappoint. The bacon was so well flavored and complimented the halloumi cheese. I also tried the Kefta Melt which was the perfect combination between my sandwich and my husband's sandwich. It was meaty, cheesy, and fresh tasting with the tomatoes and pickle. The fries were crispy and hot, the Zaatar seasoning added a level of flavor which kept me going back for more. The salad that accompanied our sandwiches was fresh and just the right portion to round out everything. We had to finish with dessert and ordered Nutella banana with crushed hazelnuts. It was light and just the right amount of everything. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The owner encouraged us to ask questions and she gave us time to look over the menu. The inside was bright, clean, and comfortable. There are plenty of tables for seating and this is perfect for families who want to eat in a casual, comfortable, and welcoming setting. The portions are very generous.

I attended Sunwish's soft opening March 26, when the owner offered free food. My family really enjoyed it! Sunwish offers Mediterranean sandwiches that are more like wraps. They're cooked in a pizza oven (this location was previously home to Fire Crust Pizza). The Francisco Heat chicken sandwich was my favorite. The meat was tender and the fillings were tasty. We also tried the Red Paprika sandwich, which was not at all spicy. Sandwiches are served with a side of perfectly seasoned fries and a small salad. Sunwish is located at the corner of Lake-Cook and Lexington Drive, right next to Starbucks. When you enter, you order and pay at the counter, and food is brought to your table. Fountain drinks and desserts are also available. The food was great and I'll definitely be back. But the best part of my first experience was chatting with the owner, who is super friendly, customer-focused and seems like an all-around nice guy First impressions are important, and mine said Sunwish will be a great success!

BEST BUTCHER SHOP AROUND -- HANDS DOWN!…read more Dorfler's Meats has been my go-to butcher shop for the past few years, and honestly, I can't imagine shopping anywhere else. From the moment you walk in, the owners and staff treat you like family -- not just customers. It's beyond refreshing to go to a meat shop that truly does it right, from start to finish. The quality is unmatched. I happily travel well out of my way just to stock up on their incredibly fresh meats, top-tier seafood, and the ready-made, home-cooked meals that make weeknights (and weekends) so much better. And let's not forget the deli counter -- WOW. The sandwiches are next-level delicious, and the homemade salads are always fresh, flavorful, and addictive. If you're shopping for the holidays, Dorfler's is an absolute must. Their Prime Tenderloin roasts are unreal -- exceptional quality, fair pricing, and you can truly tell how much care and craftsmanship goes on behind the scenes. It's the kind of place where excellence isn't an accident -- it's the standard. The staff is nothing but helpful, friendly, and genuinely kind. From outstanding customer service at the counter to unforgettable meals at my family's table, we have nothing but positive things to say about Dorfler's Meats. Thank you to everyone at Dorfler's for all you do to stay open, keep raising the bar, and continue showcasing exciting, seasonal products that we look forward to all year long. It always felt a little strange that they never had pricing visible. Every other butcher I have ever been to since childhood has always had prices visible. You would go in, order, and pay whatever they charge you at checkout. But the products were good enough and I was happy to support a local business. Over the years we have ordered a beef tenderloin roast during the holiday season when it is on sale for $34.99/lb. It has always been very pricey but (as far as we know) we were never cheated on the price and the product the way we were this year. We ordered one 3lb beef tenderloin roast. We were explicit when placing the order that we wanted one piece of meat that was 3lbs. The person who took the order was rude but seemed to understand the request. When we got the roast home I did the math because the bill was a lot more than expected. We were charged over $41/lb. When I called to ask about why the price was so high I was put on hold and the rude man that picked up next told me "it's trimmed. We charge you for the weight before trimming." This means Dorfler's supposedly trimmed off about 3/4 lb of fat. That is a lot of fat to trim off of a 3lb roast and if I was going to be charged for it why was the fat not offered to me as part of my order? Unfortunately, we accepted this explanation. The roast was wrapped in butcher paper which we did not open because we put it straight in the freezer for a week before defrosting it. We finally opened the butcher paper on New Year's Eve to prepare the roast to have on New Year's Day and were appalled that Dorfler's clearly lied to us. There were 3lbs of meat in two small roast each vacuum sealed in plastic by their distributor. This means that Dorfler's not only WAY overcharged us for the amount of meat we received, they also charged us for 3/4lb of fat they never really trimmed off. I am not even sure why they bothered with the butcher paper at all, except they probably charged us for that, too. If I could give Dorfler's zero stars I would. Also the obvious direct response to this negative review is a pathetic attempt to save face regarding your tenderloin roast "sale." Patricia W. is likely related. Why else would she disagree with facts? Dorfler's is nothing but a lying bunch of cheats who screw their loyal customers every chance they get. Some just haven't figured it out yet. And now they blocked me on Facebook. Keep it up guys. You are proving how crooked you are and how you can't handle the truth being told about your disgusting business of cheating loyal customers.

While it's past take-out distance from me, it's a nice enough restaurant to eat in. Its no further away than my old favorite place (ruined under new ownership) as well, which is a good deal for me. We got a chicken shawarma plate and a kifta kebab plate. Food came out in order, with salad and hummus first followed shortly after by our main plates. It's counter service so you grab everything yourself. I really liked the dressing on the salad. Like a light and sweet balsamic, it cuts through the richness of the rest of the meal. Really nice hummus. Extra nutty flavor. You get some pita, too. It wasn't my favorite but it was soft and warm which is good enough. The mains came out but they initially forgot the sauce. When I asked for some they initially gave me tzatziki before getting it right the second time. The shawarma is really good! You can see the spit behind the counter so you know your getting the real deal, always a plus. Kifta was also excellent, and the rice is seasoned well. Tasty. Good portion on the plate as well, I took home leftovers and enjoyed them the next day. Cleanup is on you, and it's not convenient. I don't mind doing it typically. But I see this trend a lot now... one small garbage bin with the little plastic bucket on top for all of your stuff. Plates, silverware, plastic bussing trays, all supposed to go in this tiny thing? And it was already full. If this is the best you can do for a garbage you've got to keep it cleaner. It shouldn't be an awkward chore to simply throw out my trash. Two more quick gripes. First, the bathroom isn't in the best shape. The dining area is nice, clean and modern, they should give the bathroom a matching remodel. Two, chairs are kind of uncomfortable. We need some padding. I really liked the food here. I like a more varied shawarma plate but if I play with the menu I think I can find a satisfying solution. This is probably going to be my go-to shawarma place for now. That said, I'd really give this visit a 3.5 for the issues I mentioned. I'll round up for the flavors!
