We had solar panels with Powerwall installed at our place in the foothills. Sunworks was able to design a plan that would maximize energy generation, even with all our trees. We liked it so much, we added more panels and a second Powerwall. BTW, that second battery had a long waitlist with other companies, but Sunworks had one ready for us and installed within a couple months! They also handled most of the SGIP rebate process - which can be very long. They helped us through some initial hiccups with the Powerwall, everything was quickly addressed and has been working great. Power outages are not a problem for us, it switches seemlessly to our battery that is charged throughout the day with the solar panels. We've seen a big savings in our electric bill as well. I am heartbroken by the actions of this company. My parents live in Redding, CA, and this company sold then solar. My parents are senior citizens and my father had a stroke 3 years ago. He also has hydrocephalus, and his speech has been impacted by the stroke. My parents are in no position both financially or mentally to be making such large decisions. My parents shared with me that they were never given a bill or told an amount during the process or the sale of the solar panels, or when the panels were put on. The maximum number of panels were put on their house, and they now owe 70,000. This is outrageous. I just don't know how two sales people could sit across the table from my parents and ethically sell them solar. Sunworks will not return my call. We will be contacting a lawyer. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AS THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT OR THEIR PURCHASE CONTRACT. WE RELIED ON THEIR REPRESENTATIVE AND THEIR COMPANY'S EXPERTISE, AND WE NOW HAVE PAID FOR A SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT GENERATE THE KWH AS PER WHAT WE BOUGHT UNDER THE CONTRACT. Sunworks is now blaming the salesperson, who was their legal representative, for the underproduction issues we have experienced as opposed to standing behind what their representative sold us. Read to the end prior to making any decision on a solar company. Two years ago we purchased solar panels (manufactured by SunPower) from Sunworks. They have yet to produce the kWh we purchased (of 12,400 kWh annually). Sunworks compensated us for the difference for the first year's underproduction and installed a few new panels to make up for the future loss in production. Unfortunately, the system is still underperforming and has not produced the 12,400 kWh that we purchased in either the first or second year. Sunworks is now saying that they are not going to reimburse us for the second year's underproduction nor are they going to mitigate for any future underproduction issues. This is in direct contrast to what our salesperson told us when he sold us the system. When Sunworks agreed in early 2016 to install some new panels to boost production to what we purchased under the original contract, they had us sign an addendum to their contract, which indicated that a production shortfall of 10% is acceptable. We signed the addendum as that was the only way to try to mitigate our existing losses, and they are now holding us hostage to that 10% shortfall number even though that did not exist in our original purchase contract. At approximately $1,500 per panel purchase price, we overpaid approximately $4,500 for this system as it is still underproducing from the kWh we purchased by about 3 panels. Sunworks blames our salesperson and has indicated that this is "only one of the reasons he no longer works here" to quote the Sunworks representative, Jeff Carlisle. Regardless of who is to blame for the mis-calculation of solar production, it is NOT our fault as the client, as we relied on their representative and expertise to provide accurate production figures, and we should not be financially harmed by their original faulty analysis. To demonstrate how the company still appears to not have a handle on data and analysis, in our email exchange with Jeff earlier today, Sunworks blamed the ongoing underproduction from the panels on the "large tree" we have in our front yard. Jeff said that he "had one of our designers take a look from Google Earth and it looks like that large tree in the front of your home is still casting shadows." However, as I explained to Jeff, that "large tree" was completely removed last summer, so it could not possibly be casting shadows nor could they be reviewing current and accurate data (a problem they obviously had performing their original shade analysis as well). One final thought...I see there are some poor ratings on Yelp for Sunworks and some glowing recommendations. However, I do not see that any of the positive reviews include any data on panel performance, rather, they relate to installation and sales/customer service. I would be very interested in whether the reviews would still be positive if they monitored their production vs. kWh purchased. And on another note, Sunworks uses a website called Sunny Portal where the homeowner can monitor "total yield" vs. "average yield expectations" (ie the kWh the homeowner paid for). I noticed that our "average yield expectations" had been significantly lowered by someone at Sunworks sometime in 2016 shortly after we purchased the system, and it actually looked as though the system was generating more kWh than we purchased, which was completely false. I brought it to Jeff Carlisle's attention, and he tried, unsuccessfully, to correct the number, but told me "I wouldn't get hung up on it." BOTTOM LINE: There are many solar companies and options out there, and I absolutely recommend that you NOT use Sunworks. UPDATE: We have heard from many residents of the Granite Bay/Roseville area regarding their experience with solar production using both SunPower and other panel brands (but none who worked with Sunworks as their contractor). They are ALL generating in excess of what was stated in their contract (ie what they purchased). We, unfortunately, are not so lucky, and Sunworks is refusing to refund us for the shortfall or to mitigate for any further shortfall/financial damages. I will restate my original warning to not purchase from Sunworks, as, from what we are hearing, other companies' products and services are generating more energy than what they stated in their contracts. It boils down to us purchasing approximately $4,500 in energy production than we are not getting. The YTD PG&E savings have met the original Agreement Projections, and have been as expected a great savings from the typical monthly Billings, from PG&E etc... The original installation was fantastic, and we are very grateful to Emil the SunWorks President for his efforts, to assure a great Customer experience, for our family home here in Rocklin.. ok I have never in my life left a review on here but I have had literally the worst experienc of my life with sun works thus far. They started this project a year ago then COVID hit so we restarted the project and got the second approval from the city. Then didn't hear back from anyone for two months. Finally got ahold of a woman kimbra and she didn't apologize said the project would be started in a couple of weeks then she literally went a wall for a month. She does not answer calls nothing. I got ahold of another guy explained that they have absolutely stop responding to my calls he put me in touch with another guy that's his boss of him and kimbra and he was very curious and said he would be talking to kimbra and getting back to me the next day then did not call me back. I had to call him 2 weeks later and he had nothing . No reason the project wasnt moving forward and told me after 7 more calls I could contact another guy that might have answers but guess what he was unreachable too!!!! I mean my loan was already approved for like 40,000 u would think they could pick up their phones. It has been the craziest experience of my life. Literally nobody works at this place. They have givin me the run around for months. If their was some problem they could have told me hey we can't do it for this or that reason but nothing!!!!! The worst business I have ever dealt with and brace yourself ... worse than dealing with Comcast which I thought was impossible. please if any higher ups at this company can get to the bottom, of why the people at your company absolutely don't want to install solar panels plzzzzz let me know. NO NEED TO SHOP AROUND! I can honestly say without reservation that SUNWORKS has the best rates and products in the business. My husband and I received bids from 10 solar companies. Over a three month period, we met with a plethora of salesmen, researched solar panels, and inverters. At Sunworks, we had the pleasure of meeting with Brent Baker on more than one occasion to discuss solar for our home. His NON-PUSHY approach and calm demeanor was a plus from the start. Brent gave us space and didn't pressure us to sign. He gave us an amazing price that spoke for itself. After meeting with numerous solar installers, we ultimately chose Sunworks. We were impressed with the salesperson and it seemed that they had a process that would make the whole ordeal seamless and fairly painless. I was surprised that they were ready to install the system within days of signing the contract, rather than the weeks we were told. Installation took two days due to our steep roof. The installers were mostly polite, but they did trample and destroy one of our blueberry plants. After installation, we were supposed to be contacted within days to set up an inspection under the permit process. We were never contacted. My husband discovered a permit packet on the system several weeks later. Then we received the bill. I contacted sunworks to find out why we had not been contacted for the inspection, and why we have not been contacted to sign the required PG&E paperwork or to learn about monitoring. The woman asked me to scan and email her the permit from the packet. I did so by the next day. We never heard from her in acknowledgement of receipt. My husband emailed her again to follow up and request acknowledgment of receipt. Again, she never responded. I have now called sunworks directly and their records show that they are still waiting on this permit I emailed weeks ago. At this point, we have paid over twenty thousand dollars for a system but are not getting the benefit we were promised and relied upon in going with this company. We do, however, have a ruined blueberry plant. Also: a coworker referred this company to us, and, despite the fact that we mentioned it several times, she was apparently not listed as our referral to get her promised referral bonus. This company clearly has a problem with follow through once they've received your money. read more

Great service from start to finish. I met with several companies - Sunworks offered competitive pricing, a great warranty and installed in under three weeks. Communication from our sales person and our account manager about the installation process was great so there were no surprises. On the day of our install the workers arrived on time at 8A, did a great job communicating and confirming the details of what they would be doing, got the team working almost immediately, did a walk through when the work was completed to show us our new equipment, had the site cleaned and were done by 2P. Another review in yelp wrote about SUNworks "...customer service is something easy to spot, hard to deliver and even harder to consistently deliver. " Well that is SO TRUE!!! I personally experience it. I really give this company a chance, trust me, I did! but they just did not get it. They failed to deliver. Full disclosure first: I am NOT in solar sales. But I do sale things to customers. So in a way I am also in sales. However, in this solar system case, I am a customer. I want to put a solar system in my home. I am not looking for the lowest price from an contractor/installer. I am looking for quality works & customer service. SUNworks is a SunPower dealer. So naturally they will push for SunPower Products. But they also understand not all customer can afford SunPower products, so SUNWorks also carry other brands of Solar products. This is typical in sales. So why did my experience stops at the "sales" level? Well, very simple. After I spent some time listen to SUNworks sales presentations & asked the SUNworks sales persons very details information on solar systems and requested a formal quote that spells out the details, I simply never hear from them again. May be they realized that it would be a tough sell to earn my business so they just give up. Or may be they knew they would not be able to "fool" me, so they just never bother to earn my business. I have done very extensive detail research on solar prior to contacting SUNWorks. So I know the very details and how solar power systems for residence works and what I want for my home solar systems. Every solar systems, SunPower, SolarWorld, SunEdison, LG, Sharp, Canadian Solar etc... at the very least is different in the design, efficiency, warranty and reliability. Of course there are also other factors too, but these are the four items I would focus on. The bottom line when buying a solar systems is all about dollar per watt. This is the only way you can compare apple to apple. SunPower is a superior product and offer excellent warranty. other brand may not have 25 years bumper to bumper warranty like SunPower Products. And that is what you have to figure out. To simply put, SunPower products is the Rolls Royce, and other solar brand are like Ford, Kia, or Chevy. Solar panel is an appliance not a lifestyles. So Rolls Royce, Ford, Kia, or Chevy would do the same thing for me when I drive to do grocery shopping. I really give this company a chance, trust me, I did! but they just did not get it. They failed to deliver. For those who are shopping for Solar, my advise is do your homework, do your research up front. Knowledge is power. Don't let these sales people mislead you. remember the only want to compare apple to apple is $/watt. very often you will see these Solar sales representative quote you SunPower system that is only $2000 more to other brand, but if you really do your homework and calculate, you will realize that some of these sales people are there to mislead you. I am very positive the reason I never received what I ask for was due to the fact that they realize I am too smart and will never fall into their scam. read more

We opted not to proceed with their quote but three months later we are still waiting for the $50 gift card promised to all kept appointments during that promotion. We just received notice for PGE that we could turn on our system! We had many presentations from many providers and ended up choosing Sunworks. For us, it was absolutely the write decision. From the beginning Brent Baker and Shirley Montalvo did a great job explaining their system and why it was the best. From there, the communications from Yolanda and the rest of the team has been amazing. The installation team was on time and they left our home neat and clean. I highly recommend using them. WOW! Fantastic purchase! We leased our system in our old house, but this time we purchased, as the costs would be much better in the long run. We selected Sunworks because they were local, used highest quality American-Made panels, were able to carefully listen to our needs, and were very reasonably priced. Others are cheaper, but they use lower quality parts... no thanks! Tino LaConte in the Sunworks design center in Rocklin held our hands throughout the entire process, especially when we had hiccups in the financing (we had just bought the house!). To top it off, the install team was fantastic. They also carefully listened to my needs as I wanted the system to be nearly invisible... they delivered!!!! If I don't tell my friends I have a solar system, they wouldn't even see it! All the internal components were placed right where I requested. We could not be more pleased! I have recommended SunWorks to all my friends. We wholeheartedly recommend them! Now we have electricity from the Sun, and not from country that doesn't like us! (Some traditional electricity is still made by burning oil!) Ask for Tino, that gentleman really takes the time to explain the process. read more

A longtime booster of solar yet could not cost justify a system until this year. When our community, Sun City Lincoln Hills, chose SUNworks to install a solar panel farm in the parking lot at one of the lodges, I sensed that this was the right time to move forward. Our community evaluated seven providers so their decision made mine easier. Trever was comfortable to communicate via email and telephone, answering every question clearly and in a timely manner. The process was seamless. When a SUNworks employee was scheduled to be at the house for measuring the roof, that person was on time. The install was on schedule and was kept abreast of where I stood in the installation queue. Simple and painless once installed almost anticlimactic other than a $12 PG&E monthly bill. read more

Buyers be aware...... Sun Works had a sales representative mislead us into the purchase of our solar system. We were told that in the event that we had to move that they would work with the new gone owners on consuming the remainder of the contract and/or even uninstall the equipment if necessary. Unfortunately we must move do yo a job relocation transfer with my company and they are now telling us that they do not work with the new buyers and that the system must be paid in full as there is a lien on the property. Looks like their representatives will lie to get you to purchase a solar system. Make sure you get any offers in writing to save yourself the hassle of having to take legal action. They have shown they are about sales and not customer support or service. The best thing you can do is inform the local news companies to spread the word of these types of companies...... So be aware before you decide to sign on the dotted line..... read more

My husband and I had solar installed on our home the end of 2017 by SunWorks. We are still very happy with that particular system. Based upon the excellent service and installation of the earlier solar system, we decided to take the next step. Naturally, we trusted SunWorks to guide us through choosing the right battery storage system for our home. The battery back up system was installed in December of 2018 and we paid SunWorks in full within three days. We were told the system was fully operational, pending inspection by PG&E. Chad Reese at SunWorks was responsible to complete all the necessary forms for the inspection and for filling the SGIP paperwork for our rebate of $25XX.00. There was always a problem with the SGIP paperwork, we have resigned these documents four times. Chad was asked numerous times about the progress of the SGIP rebate and PG&E; why so many problems. Chad blamed PG&E. However, SGIP has stated that they cannot process the forms if the forms are not completed properly. Around the end of April, Matt was sent to our home to investigate why there was no internet connection/communication with the unit. We were then advised by Matt that the system does not work and has never been operational. It has now been OVER SIX months since the installation and we still do not have a working system or our rebate. Chad R states LG is insisting the battery be sent to LG to determine what the problem is. We have no issue with that, as long as SunWorks is installing a NEW replacement battery when the NEW defective one is taken. However, Chad has stated that LG won't send a new battery. Chad R has stated in an email he does not want to get stuck with a "refurbished" battery. Why, oh, why, is Chad R trying to stick us with one? We paid for a BRAND NEW BATTERY. The unit SunWorks installed in December 2018 is still brand new, as in never been used, never operational. This is not a warranty issue, between us and LG; this is an issue between LG & SunWorks. Obviously, we have no idea why the battery is not working. It could be a manufacturer defect, it could be a problem caused by one of the SunWorks installers. We did not pay LG, we paid SunWorks for a new system that works. Our contract is with SunWorks. SunWorks has failed to fulfill the original contract. Based on the last six months, we no longer trust SunWorks to fulfill their obligation to us. We have stated our position clearly. We WILL NOT ACCEPT A REFURBISHED BATTERY. Chad R was suppose to give my husband an update by last Friday; Chad R stated he was going to "go to someone higher up at LG to get you a new battery." Chad R never called. Guess what? My husband called Chad R today but Chad's voice mail box is full and cannot accept calls. Chad R was informed of our position, verbally and in writing weeks ago. Since SunWorks has not fulfilled the original contract, we would like SunWorks to please remove all of the battery backup equipment, restore the sheetrock and refund the purchase price plus interest and pay the additional costs we have incurred to PG&E for a new true up cycle required for the new battery storage system that has never been operational. We are very surprised and disappointed with the lack of integrity. It is okay that there have been "problems" with this transaction. The true test of any relationship, business or personal, is how problems are resolved. Chad R has demonstrated no respect or regard for the difficult position SunWorks has placed us in. We have paid an awful lot of money for an awful lot of nothing but trouble. We were expecting a better outcome. We are still very happy with our original solar system purchase. And we still want to install a battery backup, but not with Chad R at SunWorks. By the way, Chad R is the manager of the residential side of SunWorks. read more

We thought we couldn't afford solar but when it was all laid out and explained to us by Danny we thrilled. This company is amazing! They are based up north but are starting to establish themselves in southern California. Andrew drove down from Roseville to do the inspection. Not only did he arrive on time, but he made sure he answered all our questions and made some very good suggestions. We were so impressed with how knowledgable and professional he was. This is an amazing company and we are so happy to be doing business with them. It feels good to know that we are doing something good for the environment and for ourselves using this company. I would like to start with saying the process for us took about 9 months to choose which company, what product and whether to lease or purchase. We ended up obviously with Sunworks and with the installation complete, we are up and running. The sales person, Tony was very helpful with all the different options from panels to financing, the installation crew was in and out in about 5 hours, everything was cleaned up and completed very professionally. Customer service was very helpful in ever aspect. I would highly recommend Sunworks to anyone who is thinking about going solar. If you plan to stay in your home, it makes all the sense in the world to add solar. If we continue paying the same amount of our electric bill, we will have the solar paid off in about 7 years. Buyer beware! I had solar installed by this company and they miss calculated. So at the end of the year I owed PG& E money. The miscalculated the 12 month history and all they could say was " We can add more panels. My system cost $38,000 for two people living in one single family home. We put a 50 year presidential comp roof on our home, added insulation, installed two 98% efficient HVAC systems, All new Anderson doors and Windows and with the solar miscalculation had to pay $6000 more for solar panels to meet our consumption based on their original mis calculations. Run form this company!!! Do not trust them. We unfortunately were a captive audience because they know - or said they knew how to calculate accurately. read more

System installed about 3 years ago at a cost of $30,000 and one of the selling points used by our lying sales rep was that Sun Works will monitor the system 24 hours a day to pinpoint any issues that may pop up. I happened by the inverter and saw red lights on and a screen all lit up telling me basically there was a short in the system and no power is being produced. Since the inverter is on a side of the house not frequented by us I had no idea the system was not functioning, which according to the lying sales rep, would have been picked up by Sun Works as soon as it went down. When I called Sun Works to tell them about the issue I was told, yeah, they had some sales reps that weren't truthful in their approach and no monitoring was offered by Sun Works. When told about the system malfunction, it took Sun Works a week to come to the house and diagnose the problem and was told there were a couple of issues with the equipment and replacement parts would be ordered from Sun Power. Well, it's been about a month since the diagnosis and when I called yesterday I was told they were waiting for Sun Power to ship the parts from India (you see any problems with this?) and they haven't even responded to the order. Their 25 year warranty is an absolute joke because they can't get replacement parts so now I have $30,000 of useless junk sitting on my roof with no idea when or if Sun Works is going to get it working again. Had I done my homework and checked reviews for this company I would never have considered using them and now strongly advise others consider to use Sun Works to look elsewhere. read more

(And I have to say, their quote was FAR more reasonable than at least one of their top competitors, so be sure to do your due diligence!) From the sales process all the way to the team of experienced install technicians, (who installed my 6 kilowatt system in just a few hours) we thought the team was extremely knowledgeable and professional. It's been six months since our install, and I've been tracking the data and comparing it to the ROI estimates from their sales team. This review is for the South Bay Area Team! (San Jose) I have gone round and round with more than a dozen solar companies. I was so tired of all the run around with sales departments, I decided to go a slightly different route. like lots of people I wanted the best overall deal. I decided to go with an energy broker. I used Your Energy Ally. I did my deal through them. They then shop around for your needs, and provide one of the best competitive prices without haggling.. With that said... I Just finished with my solar installation. These guys were fast, friendly, and on time. I purchased a 6.21 kw system. Not a lease. Within a week after giving them my deposit, through my energy broker, I had all the permits in place, product ordered, and a schedule for the installation. Due to the volume of people getting solar, it was scheduled for a month away. A week later, I got a call from the main office, telling me of a cancellation, asking if I would like to be scheduled 2 weeks earlier. I jumped at the opportunity. They told us 2 days to install. The 1st day they had done more than 80 % of the work by noon. They came back the following day, and had it finished within a couple of hours!. PG&E inspected 2 days later for final approval! I now am enjoying all the benefits of a commercial solar system for my residence. One last item. The installation looks beautiful. The attention to the details shows in the work The roof panels, the inverter installation, the conduit runs in the attic, everything is looks and functions great. read more

We interviewed 5 different solar companies and decided to go with Sunworks due to the high quality equipment and the comprehensive 25 year warranty. Within a few days of us signing the contract, the engineer came out to do the site inspection. We had drawings to approve within a week and two weeks later the crew was out installing the system. The crew was very professional and friendly. They were very careful to not damage anything around the house and did a beautiful job routing the conduit so that it was not too noticeable. I have worked with contractors and construction my whole life and this team was one of the most impressive I have ever encountered. Would highly recommend them! read more

So here is the deal. When a sales person comes out to your house and gives you a price and also offers different financing solutions you should be able to take them at their word. So when their sales person gave us the price and financing numbers I called back a couple days later and told the sales person that I was ready to do the deal. Instantly he told me that the financing would not work because work we would not be borrowing enough. Didn't he know that when he told us about it? I gave him another chance because he said he had other financing things we could do. I told him that the monthly cost better not go up or we would not do the deal. The next day I received an email with the new terms. While the monthly "cost" went down, it went from a 15 year note to a 20 year note and the price went up $2000 because we had "fees" to pay for now. So to all you sales people out there, if you want to sell the job, don't do the old bait and switch thing. read more

I received a knock on my door one evening to see if I was interested in solar. I am, so I scheduled an appointment with the salesman at my door for him to come give me an estimate. They called me to re-schedule that appointment because they had double booked. I understand, so I rescheduled. They they called me again to reschedule that appointment because they had "something else come up". Obviously I wasn't a priority, so I didn't reschedule again. About 2 months later, I received a call from a "Manager" who was sorry that it previously didn't work out. He asked if I would allow them to come back out and give me "an offer I couldn't refuse". I was hesitant, but gave them another opportunity. Well, they canceled that appointment the day before they were supposed to be there. Customer service is clearly not their strong suit. Seems silly to review a company that I've never done business with, but they've gone out of their way to waste my time. read more

Great product, but poor sales and management response. Initiated process on 10/14. Promised installation before years end. Informed sales staff of existing slate roof and told "no problem" Provided a sample of slate. "No problem" Installer arrived on 12/29/15. Installers say, "Slate roof is major problem". This after salesman returned 3 times to redo contract because of his errors and repeatedly asking about roof. Unable to install system until new roof installed, adding another $7000. Business office also committed numerous errors on the financing through the lender, i.e. not including the additional roofing cost in the loan package forcing me to initiate an additional loan and denying me the ability to include the amount on my tax return for my energy credit. I have decided to pay the roof amount directly to Sunworks but am having no success in identifying to whom specifically address my payment. They seem to be lax on returning calls. Although the product is good and the installers are professional, I would be careful on the assurances the company provides and secure every written detail possible. read more

Don't waste your time or money with this company. Our company spent a large sum of money for a system to run our ag. pumps and the system was installed in September 2018 and it is now currently September 2019 and it is still sitting without being connected to PG&E due to the fact that Sunworks employees don't have a clue what they are doing and can't get the correct paperwork filed with PG&E. We have reached out to them so many times asking status and they blamed PG&E saying that it was their fault and they were slow when come to find out it was the fault of Sunworks not getting any of the applications filed with the correct information. We also found out that Sunworks installed the system through their residential department and it should have been through their Ag/Commercial department so that was part of the delay. How that is our problem I have no clue but that is the excuse that they used. So after a year of having the system we are still paying large power bills. This companies customer service is awful and they lie to you about the system that they sell you. We have another system that was installed in 2016 and it has yet to perform to what we were sold it would and has been 10% less which is substantial when it is a commercial system. When it finally came to the point of getting no where I threatened to file a complaint against their company and FYI they will not respond to you at all, they don't even try to make things right. Sunworks really just doesn't even care at all about their customers. PLEASE, I am asking that you don't use this company and go through this. Read other reviews and you will see that we are not the first customer that has had these issues. read more

I have a No soliciting sign next to my front door. They still rang my doorbell and pushed a flyer through the Crack around the door. A company that doesn't respect a homeowner's right to not be bombarded at home will never get my business and I have already told my friends. I'm sure we're the exception and not the rule when telling the horrible customer service and business practice I experienced with Sunworks. After more than a year of solar research and hearing their solar pitch on the radio I was ready to pull the trigger and go with Sunworks for my solar installation. I was absolutely convinced this is the company I want to do business with but my wife thought it wise to at least consider what other companies had to offer. I contacted several other businesses who deal solar installation in addition to Sunworks, and each time I began the conversation telling them at this present time I am on the PG&E Care program and will be coming off the program in a couple of months, and I was interested in installing solar prior to my Care program expiring. Each of the other companies understood this and were ready to help, Sunworks not so much. They essentially said my electric bill was not high enough to warrant going solar. I respect a company who is willing to loose business in order to help save the customer money, but as I repeatedly tried to explain to them, after I come off Care my bills will increase. After a number of attempts to get the customers service agent I was dealing with to understand this, he asked instead of coming out to my house for a face to face, can they do a evaluation in a couple of days instead? Of course I said yes, because remember this is the company I want to go with. Three days before the phone evaluation I get a voice message from Sunworks telling me they're cancelling the evaluation. The following day I called Sunworks and ask why they cancelled the evaluation? They said since I am on the Care program it would not be beneficial for me to go solar. Once again I explained how I was coming off Care in the coming months, and how I wanted to get ahead of that. It took me three times repeating this before the representative understood and rescheduled the phone evaluation for the original day but at a later time. Now comes the day and time of our phone evaluation, my wife and I waited 90 minutes after the scheduled time with no one from Sunworks calling. At this point they lost a prospective customer. A few days later a representative from Sunworks calls and says something to the effect he was reviewing recent contacts and noticed we were not contacted on the scheduled day or time that they set up. At this point I informed him of the lousy service I received from the company and of the events that transpired. He apologized immensely and offered to have a representative do and in home consultation. Ok sure! Maybe things are about to turn around. Appointment set. Two days before the appointment I get another call from Sunworks telling me because I'm on the Care program etc. etc. etc. and can we set up a phone consultation instead. At this point I blew-up and laid into the representative telling him how his company has been d!@#ing around with me from the get go, and how they need to get their sh!@ straight. I told him just to forget scheduling any appointments or interviews with me as I didn't want anything to do with them now. He apologized and asked several times if hey can keep the schedule in home consultation, with reservations I said yes. At this point I'm thinking after all the jerking around they've been doing to me maybe they'll cut some kind of deal, ok let's hear them out. When the field representative showed a few days later, all started out well. He had a heads up of what had transpired earlier and knew we were getting off the Care program soon. The solar sales pitch started off as expected and was moderately professional, then it began to go side ways. The representative kept trying to makes jokes that fell flat and constantly hung his head. He insisted placement of many of the panels on our roof would not work properly even though every other company we had over said they would. He tried to up sell us on more efficient panels which sounds good, but said I would need 15 panel as opposed to the slightly less efficient 12 panels another company said I would need, and yes both companies offered Sunpower panels. When the numbers were crunched Sun Works wanted just shy of $4000.00 more than the other Sunpower panel provider. Remember after all the cr@p I went through with these people I though maybe I'll get a decent deal, NOPE! As a side note, even after all this we didn't even get the $50.00 gift certificate they advertise on the radio for an in home consultation. Keep it.
