This review is for the GROOMER ONLY: I've had an ongoing search for groomers for my papillon. I've been meaning to go to Super Pets for a while now, but just hadn't gotten around to it until recently. They don't take walk ins, and they typically book almost a week in advance so call early if you want to take your doggy in. Cut: I asked the groomer specifically for a very light trim as the last groomer completely ruined my dogs beautiful fur with horrible blunt cuts all over. He asked me specifically what I would like and how I wanted it cut which I thought was nice that he made an effort. UNFORTUNATELY, being nice doesn't make you the best groomer, and I firmly believe that as a groomer, you should be educated in how every breed should have their fur trimmed. I wasn't happy with the cut in the end. Papillons are known for their beautiful ear fringe which border their little faces, but her fringe was cut so that she looked like a BAT. It was not beautiful. They also did a blunt cut on the tail once again, and her thigh fringe was also trimmed so she looked like she had little ham hocks for legs. It's probably going to take a year for this to grow out. Shampoo: Definitely loved the shampoo. My dog's fur was lightly scented and smelled kind of like the oatmeal creme rinse and conditioner from Earthbath (my favorite)! She was very clean and white as well, her fur was shiny and soft. Service: Service was fantastic. The groomer was polite and kind. He picked up my dog and snuggled her so I knew he really loves dogs. I felt more relaxed leaving her there with someone who cares for the animals. Price: The best price HANDS DOWN. I have spoke to tons of groomers around SGV and they have the lowest price ever. You get fur trimmed, shampooed, nails trimmed, and anal glands expressed all for $28. I asked, but they don't do teeth brushing. The last groomer I went to charged me $50 for all of the above. This place is fantastic for the price. I took out a star because of how the groomer wasn't very knowledgeable on specific breed standard cuts, but next time I'll just be even more specific on what I want. I will still be looking for a better groomer, but this one is definitely on the top of my list of places to reconsider. read more

I love the fact that their staff are very friendly and that their policy is that you can exchange dog food that your dog doesn't like hassle free, but there is one down side to the store. I recently received a bunny from this place as a gift. Unfortunately, when I took him to get his first check up, I was told that he had Coccidiosis. Not something I would have expected from a bunny I got as a gift from super pets. After that incident, everytime I walk into the store to buy my dogs supplies, I still feel saddened with all the bunnies that they sell left and right (just like a puppymill). I may have to start looking for another pet store just because of that one downside. That's just my two cents. *ps. If you do plan on buying a bunny for whatever the cause might be, please educate yourself about rabbits and the things they need. If anything, they are pretty high maintenance than dogs and can get rather pricy feeding them unlimited hay everyday. I love super pets! Everyone here is super duper friendly and the store is super duper clean. They also have grooming and nail trims for an affordable price. I take my bunnies here for nail trims.. it's only $5! All the employees are pretty knowledgable and happy to help you. I also love stopping by with my brother to pet the cute bunnies! :) Everything here is more expensive than the other big-box retailers though.. so shop during their anniversary sale in June for 20% off! read more

I stumbled in here to take a break from the Las Tunas bridal row and was so pleasantly surprised at the nice selection they had. The store is so clean and they had an excellent variety of pet supplies from fishes to rodents to cats and to dogs. I mainly spent my time in the doggy section but I was able to find a pirate squeaky toy that Busby loved (and destroyed) at a decent price. They have healthy Zuke's treats, Natural Balance Tillman's training treats and lots of the Dogswell line. They also had various loofah dogs in different lengths and a great selection of Greenies and Nylabone. The availability of health food, treats and toys was way more complete than that of Petco and Petsmart yet their prices were similar to Target pricing and definitely not ridiculously marked up like a boutique. The staff there were also friendly and helpful. I'm sooo happy I found this place and will be sure to visit it every time I go to my bridal store to bring home something fun and yummy for my boys! read more

We brought our dog to Super Pets because our regular groomer was on vacation. Yessenia was the groomer we were fortunate to get to groom our dog. Yessenia was friendly, sweet and she made me feel comfortable leaving our dog in her care. I don't like to leave my dog at the groomer's any longer than necessary. We were the first appointment in the morning, and Yessenia called me by 9:15 a.m. when my dog was ready to come home. Our pretty little dog was happy, clean and groomed very neatly. Yessenia followed the instructions we gave her. We are very satisfied with the service we received. We will definitely recommend our friends to come to Super Pets to have their dogs groomed by Yessenia. read more

Viva la Super Pets! They really do have nice employee's, not the pushing-40 asshats that work at Petco, who always appear to be stoned and have mustard-stained shirts. They have everything I need for my Dog, frogs, bird and turtle all under one roof. Not so much a place to buy animals, but they do have birds, bunnies and fish. For you Paris Hilton types, they have a menagerie of small (doll) dog clothes, leashes, collars and hair accesories. Yes HAIR ACCESSORIES. There must be a shit ton of Maltese in San Gabriel Valley, God help us all. Also, I found the grooming to be very efficient and inexpensive! This place is a rip off. I'm all for supporting family owned businesses. And i've lived in Temple City my whole life. but I just paid $26.99 for a 20# bag of pedigree dog food. I though there was some mistake with the price, but the cashier advised me that since they are family owned this is the price. I told her I can buy a 50# bag of pedigree at Petsmart for $24, thats 20 more pounds! She said since they are family owned this is what they charge. I'm sorry but that's ridiculous! They need to try to be a little more competitive. They also stopped carrying my cat food, Royal Canine. So I guess I'll have to drive up to Pasadena for all my pet needs. Came here to pick up more food for my robo hamsters. I was immediately greeted and offered help to find what I needed. The dog food section was disorganized, there was pallets of dog food blocking the ends of a couple aisles with plastic wrapping strewn everywhere, didnt want to browse there because It was claustrophobic and dark. The checkout station had an interesting selection of dog treats and chews for small dogs you can pick up for around 1$ including chicken feet and single spare rib bones, good if you have a picky dog like I do and dont want to commit to a full bag. I take my sheltie here for grooming! These guys are very knowledgable with dogs, and very good at handling them also. My dog apparently had a rash on her skin, her thick fur covered it pretty well, and these guys recommended me a thing or two in preventing further aggravation of the situation. The attitude of the employees is always the same" I don't know " "you read the labels " Even recommend food with the very allergen that I told them to avoid! They said to buy the food and then you can exchange it if the dog doesn't like it,but when I did they had a major attitude and made me feel like I was doing something wrong ! WHAT!!! A wonderfully bright, highly organized super store for pets. A haven of sorts, for dog-lovers such as myself. I used to live within 5 minutes of the place and was one of their very first customers at their grand opening! They carry awesome brands of holistic, organic, allergen-free, glutton-free, name brand dog foods. These brands are slightly frou-frou and prices run a bit higher than your average petco/petsmart lot, but I own a yorkie (and as of monday, a baby shih-tzu!!) they don't each much to begin with... so why not feed them the best? Seriously folks, the dogfood scare a couple of years ago really dampened my faith in lower bracketed foods. Oftentimes people ask me what I feed my dog and, for the last couple of years- it's been Merrick's all the way. The cool thing about Merrick's dog food is the option to add a bit of warm water- to create a light gravy that my dog gobbles up! Another tip for dogs with joint problems and a dull coat: Missing Link w/Glucosamine. Sprinkle a bit of that "superfood vitamin" over their crunchies and you've got her covered. She will be so healthy- it'll even show in her coat! Return Policy: because I do think it's important that we get as much value for our dollars spent on pet things...(think of all the pet junk we just throw away...) Super Pets is a wonderful, independent store that has everything you might need for your dog, cat, tarantula, whatever. The store is bright, clean and very well-stocked. They have a huge selection of pet food and the organic brand we buy for our pooch is always on the shelf. I've been a Super Pets customer for the past 4 years; mainly because they carry Innova brand dog food but also because of their great customer service. I also like the idea of supporting a smaller business over a huge chain. This store is very well organized with a wide variety of products for my dog. I usually wait for their half yearly sale to stock up on treats, toys (20% off) and dog food (buy one, get one 1/2 off). Get on their e-mail list for updates! They have very affordable basic collars for your pets that are unique to their store... so you can get one in every color if you wanted to :) If you have pets, or like pets, Super Pets is a cool place to check out. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the little groomer/clinic is very convenient. This is forsure the best pet store around this area. One day you will just have to come by the store and check it out yourself. Well to be honest, I am probably partial to this store because it's so close to my house and it's very convenient for me. BUT there are so many good qualities this pet store has. 1. Service: they have such friendly workers here (well what pet place doesn't have nice workers?) but I mean, the people that work here know their stuff! They are very confident in the products that they sell, they seem very genuine and actually care about animals so they give you good advice. Every time I come, they ask me if I ever need anything. Then I ask them a question, which is like all the time because I want to make sure I'm feeding my babies the BEST stuff, they are always so honest with what they say and it shows that they truly care. 2. Products: a lot of their food, dog supplies, treats, toys etc are all on Amazon. So I always check on Amazon for product ratings before buying anything, and everything I've bought here is top notch. 3. My 2 babies love coming here and seeing other pets walk around as well. They even have doggie bags in the middle of the place so you can pick up their poop just in case accidents happen. 4. They also sell bunnies, birds, fish and other small animals so please buy them! Went to the Semi Annual Sale where it was BOGO half off for food and 20% off everything else in the store. IT was packed even on the rainiest of the days. It was so nice of them to provide Starbucks coffee outside for us for the event. I thought that was extra sweet. Even though everyone was fighting for parking everywhere to not be in the rain. LOL I love this place as it has a very good selection of Dog Food, treats and other pet supplies. Since I only have dogs, that is all that I can have a say on. BUT they do have some super cute bunnies! The staff is always super friendly and always willing to help whether it would be to take the food to your car or help you with finding anything, to just even holding an umbrella for you in the rain. I mean its pretty amazing the customer service that you receive here. Overall, great selection of brands of food, treats and anything else you may need and always comes with a smile & a helping hand. I wish this independent pet store was closer to my home, but it is near my parent's house so I do get to it now and again and my dad always picks up the dogs food from here. This store has a great staff, everyone is so friendly and helpful everytime I'm in the store. There is a pretty large variety of food and treat options as well as leashes and collars. They are also pretty stocked with other pet supplies for your fishes, cats, bunnies, etc. so they are pretty on par with the larger chains like Petsmart and Petco but their prices are a bit cheaper. And you get to support a local business! I have not partaken in their other services like grooming and training so I can't say, but in regards to being able to pick up dog food and treats, this is a great place. read more

I've had Bowser since he was 8 weeks old. Just this past week, he turned two years :) For the first two months I've had him I went to Petco for EVERYTHING, because I figured that was a given, and every pet noob doesn't know where else to go but Petco and Petsmart. And then I discovered Super Pets, and I've been coming here for EVERYTHING ever since. I'm not even kidding. It's also a plus that they have ample parking, since this place isn't a conglomerate (yet). They have a huge variety of food, toys, water/food bowls, crates, puppy pads, treats, and leashes! Muffles, cones of shames, toothbrush, shampoo, combs, etc etc, everything! I love this place, it's my one-stop shop for Bowser. And the best part, they have a grooming center. I think I took him once for a full-on grooming, but I found another groomer I like to frequent more so I haven't really brought him since. But I do regularly bring him by for a quick nail trim (I cringe when his nails get long, and I'm too scared to cut them myself in case I cut into the "quick"). The groomers are always super chill, and you can tell they're genuine dog people. They don't care if you hover around while they're doing their thing. They have nothing to hide. Nails cost $8 but they always round the tips off so even when it grows out it doesn't hurt to have your dog pawing and stepping on you haha. That's what I like the most. Be sure to swing by for their anniversary sales! It's usually in the summer, and you save so much money. I would just stock up on a bunch of food. I've had Bowser on Blue Buffalo for the longest time and before that, it was AvoDerm. Super Pets has both these brands. And as a side note if you're a new pet owner, do NOT get Pedigree, Iams, etc etc. Those mainstream brands are SO bad for your dog. It's almost the equivalent of us eating McDonalds on a daily basis. LOVE IT. I got all three of my pets here, a dwarf bunny, a lionhead dwarf bunny, & a robo hamster :) I also get all the things they need here. Although it's a bit pricier than the chain pet stores, I feel like the staff is more helpful. I feel like I bother them a lot sometimes though with my weird questions.. LOL. But no matter what, they always have an answer for me and help me out the best they can :) Plus you can pet the bunnies they have ! So cute ^_^ And they have a great fish/aquarium selection :) Their fish tanks are super cheap too. They don't even care if I spend an hour+ in here playing with the bunnies LOL. Super Pets is a solid pet store with a great selection of food, collars, leashes, all sorts for specific remedies and preventive care and treats. Price wise it's not any more economical than pet co, pet smart or most pet stores. What Super Pets offers that differentiates them form other places is an excellent grooming department at great prices. I took 3 of my pooches and they did an excellent job on 2 ( a poodle and cocker spaniel) and a good job on 1 of them (Pomeranian). Temple City is 100% out of my way but for my four legged, I will sacrifice and make the time. They are time efficient, solid on haircuts and gentle with the animals. They don't sugar coat your dog's behavior. My cocker spaniel was awful and she told me but also informed me that he was no different than the majority of cockers she grooms. It made me feel a little less embarrassed. I think a nice tip before I leave is in order! read more

I called to see how much a bath and anal gland for my dog would cost. I also wanted to know if a reservation was required I spoke with Jonathan. He gave a very good price on the phone. He also said that a reservation was required and the next available appointment was 2 days (Sunday) away. I told him that my dog had not been bathed in 2 weeks due to him recovering from an injury and that Sunday was the only day I could get him out to the park. Jonathan said "how soon can you get here?" I was down at the shop in 15 minutes. Jonathan took my dog in right away. He was bathed, anal gland and nails trimmed while I waited. Jonathan did an outstanding job and was really good with my dog. I have definitely found a new groomer for my dog. read more

I bring my dog, MoMo here to get treats, food, wee-wee pads. The best part about this pet store is the food brands they carry. They carry major brands like Iams, Pedigree but... we all know it's not good for dogs so they provide us with great alternatives like Canidae, Merriks & also Evo. Don't they have that saying, "You are what you eat." I want my dog to be a healthy dog. Other then that they have the cheapest wee-wee pads ever! The absolute BEST type of pet store! They are just fantastic here! All the employees are very informative and SUPER helpful! I found an abandon baby kitten that was near death, had an upper respiratory infection and couldn't opens it's eyes or breath. I went here and a very kind lady named Rachel helped me. She told me everything I needed to do and what to get to help the kitten fight the infection. She even gave the kitten a free dose of supplement to help kinda give her a helpful boost in nutrition. I swear within 10 minutes the kitten was jumping an walking! She help save my poor kittens life! Thank you Rachel! Also when ever me or my dad need to buy fish we ALWAYS come here. They take the best care with their fish stock! And they have a nice selection that I never see anywhere else. It's the only place for miles where I can find green spotted puffers! :D I get my dogs shots here to when they have their pet shots events. The prices are totally reasonable. Great place, absolutely the best type of employees! Everyone should take there pet here. They have good prices and a lot or there products are organic green types, which is refreshing. Disclaimer: my pet rabbit is considered an exotic animal and I am reviewing this place as an exotic pet owner since there is generally less options and items available or catered to non cat and dog pet owners. This place is employes super friendly and fairly knowledgable employees and the store is generally clean and organized. There is quite a good section of bird, reptile, and fish items. They also have about two rows of small animal products. I greatly appreciate the products that are not usually found at the larger pet supply chains. Furthermore their prices are fair and may be even slightly cheaper than the larger stores. I also appreciate that they have several cages for small animals that are not commonly found. Finally the best part is they have rabbits that you can actually pet. read more

They have everything for dogs here! Their selections of pet toys were kind of small, but they have a lot of dog food, medicines, shampoo, leashes, backpacks, and etc. The biggest problem was that some of the things were a bit pricey than I anticipated. Amazon sold most of the stuff a bit cheaper. (Example they had the Easy Walk Harness for $27, I bought mine on Amazon for $14.) The plus side is that you find some pretty neat stuff that you normally wouldn't find at Petco stores such as Banana-Shaped beds, glow in the dark leash, and a good selection backpacks, and slow-dog feeder bowls. Even with the higher prices, the store is relatively clean and the staff are friendly. You're definitely getting good quality service. If your companion does not like something, you are able to exchange it to something else! Some of the treats are also made by them. There is also a small grooming area inside the shop. I'm kind of bummed out that they sell live pets here though. The rabbits seemed really scared and traumatized. read more

Ever since I discovered this gem, I said sayonara to PetSmart. Wow! This place has a fantasic selection of fine pet foods. I shop here mainly for the cat food, seeing that PetSmart do not carry the brands I like to feed to my tortie. Blue Buffalo, Natural Choice, and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul are just a few brands they carry a at reasonable prices (about $1-$1.30 per can of wet cat food). I can stock up on a month to two months of cat food on a budget of $40. Schweet! There is an abundance of other products that'll meet your pet needs like litter boxes, dog leashes, cat condos, fish..you name it! The staff here are very helpful and super friendly. Upon checkout, they'll always greet you with a smile! :) There is ample parking and the store is very easy to find, right on the corner of Las Tunas and Alessandro. read more

Boyfriend got me a bunny from here not to long ago. The bunny was in great health and was very active! The price was around 35ish which is cheaper than most places! Workers seemed knowledgeable about the animals and were very patient with us. Came here earlier today for the first time and was pleasantly surprised . The place is very clean. My review is based mainly on the service and the fish section because that was what I came here for. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by an employee. I walked further in to the fish section and was greeted by another employee and he was very helpful with the guppies and guppy fry food I was looking for. I looked at each fish livestock aquarium and did not see a single dead fish. All the aquariums seemed very well kept. It has become a habit of mines now whenever I go to a fish shop to try to find dead fishes because it tells you a lot about the place and its maintenance. I think this was the first time I have ever found ZERO DEAD FISHES in ANY fish/pet store. They even have some of the nice Fluval aquariums all set up with fish and decor so you can see how they look like. Its true the price seemed to be mostly at retail. I was looking at the fish food and filters and other aquarium stuff. I end up purchasing 4 female guppies and 1 blue moscow male guppy, freeze dried brine shrimp for my betta, some guppy fry food and a tetra filter(same price as petsmart). I am definitely coming back here to buy more tropical fish in the near future even though I live only a few blocks from the Petsmart in Alhambra. Sometimes the fish stock at that Petsmart is well maintained, sometimes not. I still love that Petsmart though. read more
