Great spot if you're craving some tacos! I usually order the super tacos without beans and it's pretty hefty even without the beans. I like how the super tacos come with fresh slices of avocado and a TON of meat. I usually ask for onions and cilantro on the side because sometimes they forget to add it into my tacos. The green sauce is pretty deadly but the tacos wouldn't taste the same without it! It's pretty spicy but it creeps up on you, so use with caution. The portions are pretty big for tacos so I usually order 1 super taco and 1 regular taco and just portion out the avocado between them. read more

So, as we come down from the peak, I told my honey that I was hungry for a burrito. And here is how we ended up at Super Taco Taqueria. Super Taco Taqueria is located in the same parking lot as Bob's Burgers and Connolly's Furniture store. The menu is simple - you can get burritos, tortas, tacos - all with your choice of meat. Found this place due to being in the area on family business, and realized that Newark/Fremont is some sort of hub of cheap ethnic food. I can get good Asian food back in DC (although not as cheap), but Mexican, ohhh, that isn't so hot, so coming to Cali is always a treat. Anyway, was driving between locations and needed lunch when I spotted this place. Unassuming taqueria in a strip mall? Check. Glad I stopped in. It was past the usual lunch hour, but I managed to get in before a huge rush. Seriously, the place was hopping. Apparently I picked the right spot. Menu looked good, and dirt cheap, so I was good to go. Had a fat carnitas super burrito with that salsa verde they have on the side. Nice! Wish I could have ordered more food to try, but didn't know where to fit it in my stomach. I'll definitely go back because this place is legit. One note, though. . . parking is a total pain. There's plenty of it, this being a strip mall and all, but the spots closest are angled in the opposite direction of most people coming into the shopping center. Ah, my favorite high school Mexican joint.. Good memories. I can't believe I was only introduced to this during my senior year, when my friends would all go for "Super Taco Tuesdays" during lunch. Oh man, good times good times. Not much to say about the decor - it's kind of the same as other taquerias, minus the bright tacky colors. Supertaco.. my heart belongs to you! I always get the carne asada super burrito with rice. Sometimes plus sour cream. Then green sauce. And my day is made :) When I am away at school I always crave this.. Anytime I try another Mexican restaurant, I always compare it to Supertaco! I have to say that I would have given more stars if it wasn't for the counter girl who was taking orders. I asked for a super burrito with carne asada. I asked . If their chicken was pulled or cubed since my boyfriend was getting the same thing. She said . Cubed so I went with my first choice. Needless to say I got chicken instead of beef. They use too much beans as well. My boyfriend's burrito was awesome though. Next time I'll know what to order to make my experience better but the girl was chatting and not paying attention to the questions I was asking. Yelp... you have let me down on this place! :( I ordered 2 tacos carne asada and 2 tacos al pastor. My wife ordered a super burrito al pastor and a agua horchata. Our bill came out to around $18. Not as "cheap" as some of you have put it. Cheap would be like $1 taco's like places in socal. Instead, its around $2 each...which still isn't bad but I'd rather save my money and go to the taco truck just a couple places down. The meat was tender, but something just didn't taste right. Tasted like all the meat was cooked in a slow cooker, rather than on the flat grill to get the charred crunchy flavors. They put beans in my carne asada tacos...which I'm not used to. I was hoping they would have fresh salsa, lime, carrots, jalapenos, and CHIPS for free, BUT, we were wrong! There were only squeeze bottles of sauces. This was probably the only reason why this place has stayed in business. The sauces have a lot of flavor....but are on the salty side. Still good either way. We also take notice of the people who eat at the restaurants we go to and/or visit. Example, if a chinese restaurant is "REALLY GOOD", you'll see the place full of chinese people with the token caucasain person who knows what's good. My baby bros wanted to try this restaurant because their friends raved about it, and since it was also on my bookmarks, sure, why not!? Before the Super Bowl, we headed over to pick up a few burritos and nachos. The super burritos are about $5.50 each. Although they are a bit longer than the Chipotle burritos, they are way skinnier! (We ended up picking up a burger from Bob's Giant Burger nearby just to make sure we'd be full for lunch.) They do have fresh ingredients though, so that's cool. Let me just say, this place is great and here's why. No frills. Cash only. Quick and simple taqueria fare. The workers are friendly, super competent and easy going about substitutions. I get my staple veggie super burrito for $2.30 (because I add rice $.60) and it is a perfect meal. Whole pinto beans, rice, light on the queso and their green salsa is muy bueno. I've had their tacos (all come with fresh avocado slices! come on now...) quesadilla and carne asada burritos (when I ate meat) Bottom line, this is a solid taqueria and you won't be disappointed. I'm usually not a fan of avocado since it's usually smushed up a yucky weird feeling but I didn't mind it here since it was sliced. The layout of the menu and mismatched letter/number sizes makes it difficult to read (the take out menu is easier to read). I tried the Steak Nachos and they were absolutely delicious!! The meat was very well seasoned and tender, not rubbery. Best part is it was only $5 and some change. Only disappointing thing was it doesn't come with salsa or guacamole (Does come with sour cream). But hey, for the price and the amount they give you, I'm not complaining!!! It really celebrated all the work they put into preparing the carne asada - marinating, tenderizing, etc. Today I also had their torta. Not bad I have to admit. I was surprised by the sandwich roll it came on. It was soft. I was expecting a crusty roll. And again this was prepared much like the taco. No pile of lettuce, tomatoes, or cheese. It didn't come out like some Subway sandwiches fiasco. It was good. The cook did some extra tenderizing with the back of the knife. Wasn't very impressed with the service nor food. I'm not sure if it's because the taqueria that I regularly dined in when I lived in the peninsula just set the bar so high, but the food was just eh to me. I had two steak tacos and my boyfriend had one steak taco and one steak burrito. My boyfriend specifically asked for no beans in any of the tacos and lime. When we received our order, all three of our tacos had beans and there was not a wedge of lime found. My boyfriend even stood back in line, asked for lime again, but alas, the lime never came. Anyway, about the tacos....there is nothing special about them at all. They were neither juicy nor good, even adding salsa didn't make them any better. There wasn't even any cilantro or onion, or even the option to have radish or carrots. Plus side-boyfriend did like the burrito, but it didn't have rice. Most do.... Also, you have to pay for chips....it doesn't break the bank, it only costs a dollar.....but most taquerias nowadays almost always provide free chips and salsa with your meal. I really wanted to like this place, as I'm scratching my head while reading the rave reviews this place has received from others. Maybe I just came on a bad day. Anyway, won't be coming back unfortunately. Another plus side, and the reason for the one star, they are 49er fans. I tried this place because my co-workers and I were looking for a highly rated Mexican place for us to try that is near our work, and that is different than the taco truck (which is amazing). I don't want to waste my time going into too much detail with this place, but basically everything they served did not have very much flavor and the quality of the meats were not that great compared to others. My favorite for go-to Mexican comfort food. Nothing exotic here - just every burrito/taco option you could expect. My favorite part is the fresh avocados they put on their super burritos. They're always great (not the dull taste you get as avocados age). Also, the owner's a really good guy. He always comes out in his cowboy hat, says hi to our kids, and gives them a bouncy ball from the bubble gum machines. A nice homey feel that's kept us coming back for almost ten years. read more

Its a nice place. I'm happy they have 'whole beans' instead of mashed beans. I'm usually able to get full and happy for less than $8. I think its great that the owner is there often and isn't some guy 'behind the curtain', like at a big corporation. Simple and tastey food. I love the roasted salsa. Two stars off for tacky decor. Add another star cuz it's totally cheap and totally tasty. I got the shredded chicken quesadilla on a corn tortilla. It only has one tortilla... instead of one on the top and one on the bottom. It was a relatively small tortilla. If you're a big eater, get two, maybe three. Ive never had a food coma hit me so fast. Prior to yesterday, I had only been to this place once as a kid and dont really remember it at all. For a long time I scoured various taquerias around my house, searching for the best one. Ive finally found it. I dunno why Ive avoided it all this time, its been sitting in that plaza for years and I never bothered to check it out. Its greasy, oh yes its greasy, but so effing good. You gotta expect greasy food when going to taquerias anyway. Yesterday I had a super burrito w/ carne asada. The green salsa they give is delicious, it must be applied with every bite. Usually with super burritos you expect the same formula: meat, salsa, beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole. cheese. Not at super taco: meat, salsa, beans, avocado, cheese. And its the perfect combo in my opinion. IMHO, this place is up there with the likes of La Victoria (a place I used to frequent every friday in highschool). Whoever planned that parking lot is a moron...the spaces are arranged in the opposite direction. When I'm in the mood for a real SUPER burrito, I look no further than Super Taco! Now, I honestly cannot review on anything else than their Super Burrito and their chips, but from just having that, I'm sure the rest of their food is amazing! Just half of the Super Burrito is all it takes to fill me up most of the time; in my opinion, the carne asada Super Burrito is the best (I've had the carnitas Super Burrito, but the carne asada is sooooooooo much better).
