Cheryl has been cutting my hair for at least 10 years now. Having anyone else cut my hair makes me very nervous and I try to avoid having others cut my hair even if I'm out of town and my hair is a disaster. I wait until I get back to Southern California to have Cheryl cut my hair. On a trip out of the country, one of my fellow travelers commented that my hair cut was so well done that I shouldn't worry about getting rained on. Cheryl always asks me what I want and how short she should go. She lets me know if my hair is too dry so I know to use a different shampoo or conditioner. My daughter and I went to Val and received horrible haircuts. She didn't even try, she spent the entire time complaining about politics and charged each of us nearly $4 for Covid sanitizing and didn't even clean in between which we didn't care about the cleaning, we live in the same home but she shouldn't charge you. We both went to Val for over 3 years but her bitterness regarding politics is unprofessional she was and made us both uncomfortable. She brought up the topic, neither of us engaged or shared our opinions. We were both intimidated and afraid to say anything. So disappointed with her attitude and haircuts. The lady who cut my hair had only been working there for a month which seems to be a common trend among these big box hair salons littered all over the nation. In West Seattle, I was a regular at Great Clips in the Admiral Junction. Here in Long Beach, Supercuts seems to be more convenient. She was friendly and did a great job layering my hair and cutting my bangs. This chain is a little bit more expensive than Great Clips. I paid $12 for a haircut there and they often had specials. This one costs about $18 so with tip I pay about 23 bucks for a cut. Still way reasonable over a specialist that charges hundreds so I'm not complaining! It's in the same mall as the Trader Joe's and Target in the smaller building with multiple shops in it along with a Rite Aid I also frequent. Parking is never an issue. I'll definitely be back. read more

Currently writing this from the parking lot of this Supercuts after just getting my haircut here. Never before have I felt so uncomfortable while getting a cut. I had an online appointment set, but the two workers I saw when I walked in were busy cutting hair so I sat myself down in the waiting area. A third worker who was in the back, named Cheryl, saw me and seemed confused as to what I was doing sitting there even though I was just waiting until someone freed up. She had a hard time finding me in the system, despite the fact that she's been working in hair for 40+ years (which she let me know numerous times). She sat me down in her chair and asked how short I was looking for and I explained that I've been going for the mullet look recently. I explained that I usually get a 1A on the sides (which is what the kind lady at the Supercuts off 2nd street told me to say for my next haircut) and then Cheryl seemed quite perplexed by the idea of a 1A (because again she's worked in hair for 40+ years and I being an ignorant customer am inherently wrong). She went with just a 1 on the sides which was fine, but when I asked if she could go back a bit further she gave me flack which I've never had before. She also had me awkwardly hold my mask with the straps off of my ears(which I've never had to do before at a haircut because the stylist has been fully capable of working around a mask yet Cheryl seemed incompetent in that regard. She said it was just for the sides yet never told me to put the straps back on, so when she moved to the top of my hair I took the liberty of putting my mask back on myself, hoping that the straps over my ears wouldn't hinder her capability too much. She kept asking me if I wanted the top shorter and I said I'd like it thinned out and cleaned up(which is what I always say and I've never had an issue before with a stylist not understanding that) yet I guess she's hard of hearing or just too in her own head to understand because I had to repeat myself about 15 times throughout the session. That all wouldn't have led me to write a review though, but what was the final knife in the coffin was that the whole time I felt like I was a ticking time bomb and Cheryl was trying to cut my wires before time ran out. Cheryl cut as though she had absolutely no time in the world for me, and I've never been rushed in and out faster. She spent approximately 10 seconds on each part of the haircut before moving on and asking if it was good enough yet, and I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. She seemed angered by my existence and didn't seem to understand any of my simple hair requests despite her supposed 40+ years in the business. I also did not get the hot towel treatment at the end of my cut, which I thought was standard at every Supercuts since I've been to plenty of Supercuts locations and never not had the hot towel. In addition to all of that, she also felt the need to make multiple comments about my hair being too dry for her to work with. She kept commenting about how I need to use a different conditioner and how she had to spray it down because she wouldn't be able to work with it otherwise, and then kept going on about all of her thoughts on my type of hair and how she felt about it being curly. This seemed to be rambling nonsense to me, and I'm not sure if the point of it was to get me to buy some of the store's conditioner or if she simply wanted to make me feel bad about myself, with only the latter actually occurring. I will never return to this location, which is a shame because the gentleman who cut my hair last time here was absolutely great. I feel quite bad for anybody to has to experience getting cut by Cheryl, and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. If anyone who works at this location wants to look me up in the system, I came in at approximately 1:10 on October 29th, 2021, and was in and out within minutes. read more

Want to give a HUGE THANKS to all the ladies that work at this location!!! My daughter has recently colored her hair multiple times. A few by professionals and a few on her own. No matter the color, she always looks amazing! However we all know too much coloring is too much! She needed professional help! Valerie Begin came to the rescue! She Is a professional at this salon and if you're in need of an AMAZING cut, Val's your girl!! She requested that we contact Buffy or Elvira for a color correction. So happy we did! Elvira with great advice from Buffy superceded our expectations! Not only was the color "spot on" but her hair looked healthy again!! Can't thank you all enough! Ladies and gents listen up! This is my first ever review on Yelp. I use Yelp to look at reviews, but never wrote one myself...until today. I signed up for Yelp specifically to write this review. I just received the worst haircut I have ever received in my life from someone at this location. My haircut is probably the easiest someone can ever get... A fade with a 4 on top and 2 on the sides. The stylist didn't cut my sideburns, barely cut the back, and jacked up around my ears. No exaggeration, one ear is at least an inch higher than the other one on the top of my ear. I think it's because she messed up, and had to keep going higher and higher to try to get rid of the mistake....but, it's still there. After my haircut, she didn't even give me a mirror to look at my hair...she just took off the cover and tried to send me on my way. I told her I need to look at it with a mirror, and when I did I was shocked. I made her fix as much as she could, but once hair is cut, you can't put it back. My haircut took maybe 5-7 min, where at other supercuts they usually take probably 15 min at least. This particular girl was a short (maybe 4'6") chubby Filipino girl. She was nice and talkative, just a terrible hair dresser....and frankly deserves to lose her job. I'm usually not THAT guy, but it's time I am for once. read more

This was my first visit to a SuperCuts Salon, and it will likely be the last as I am currently extremely unhappy with my haircut. I asked the stylist (who in her defense was very friendly) for a parted haircut; with the sides and back tapered; to leave the top long by using scissors; and to take into account my cowlick by leaving it longer than the rest of the back region in order to ensure that it stays down. The stylist began cutting my hair, but it was immediately evident that she did not know how to taper men's hair. I had to explain to her how to use the different settings on the clipper to achieve the desired effect. By this point though, she had already shaved off my cowlick to about 1/2 ", when I asked her to leave it roughly 1 3/4". Now the hair in my cowlick region will stick straight up for 2-3 weeks. Additionally the sides were cut at uneven lengths. Lastly, she didn't shampoo my hair when I asked her to wash it. I am now planning to visit another Salon tomorrow to fix the haircut I just received. read more

This location was great for me .......Trader Joe's, Starbuck's..... Picked up my Rx at Rite Aid . It's was so convenient.....last minute decision on getting a haircut! Which I would never ever normally do. But, I did read the reviews on Yelp and took the recommendations on asking for Lin. I found Lin to be so friendly and honest on her suggestions which worked out awesome for me!!! I'm so happy with my haircut and I'm able to style my hair at home on my own ....... I've been going to this Supercuts for a year now and I've never been disappointed with my cut. Usually, Elvira cuts my hair but I have had others cut my hair and they all do a good job. Try to be specific as possible when describing how you want your hair cut. Pictures help. The first time I went in I showed them a picture and they taught me how to describe it for future visits. The good thing about this location is that you can get all of your errands done while you wait for the partner/kids to get their cut. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lady was more concerned with her lunch date than with doing her job. Before even fully combing out the hair she told a man who was waiting for her that she would be 15 minutes, cut into the curly/wavy hair cutting about 6 inches with the look of "oh shit I just fucked up this person's hair" when it was supposed to be a light trim. The front is longer than the back (which is not what was wanted) and an over all horrible experience. Did not introduce themself did not even offer to dry the hair afterwards again just wanted to get to her lunch date. read more

I came here yesterday around 6pm. An African male cut my hair, but completely ruined my hair. His hands were extremely shakey. He couldn't finish cutting my hair and had to ask the other hairdresser after making my hair look like I gave my 2 year old niece a par of scissors and said "hey go wild." He didn't even apologize for what he did, even after he saw that I was unhappy. Worst service I've ever had. I wish I got his name, but I was so sad about my hair that I just wanted to leave. Bad customer service. No star! I am forced to mark a star on this app. I did a check in online and I marked that I wanted to do high lights. Nice lady greeted me. Then the other lady came and took me in and asked me sit down. She had a slight hearing problem... kept asking me the same question twice. Since she wasn't very nice to me so I asked her casually if her day had been busy in which she completely ignored me. Anyhow I took down my hair and told her I wanted to do hairlights. Her immediate response was "oh I don't do high lights." So I asked her if anyone can do highlights considering this was the 2nd Supercuts that I went today. She said "everyone is either busy or hey have left." She didn't even apologize for inconvenience so I grab my things and left. I have no plans in returning to this Supercuts at this location!!! I was so upset! I know it is the day before 7/4 so everyone had plans but I felt she could have handled that better. A concerned customer. read more

Just wanted to express my unhappiness with this particular location on 9/11/13 as well as a day back in July 2013. Twice now my son and I have received poor customer service and a lack of "tact". Twice now in the past 2 months my son and I have come in for haircuts and we're told we were "next" only to have others get cut before us that walked in afterwards. The courtesy would be to inform your customers of how many people are actually ahead of you and not make you wait 45-50 minutes. There was no hello when we walked in on September 11, 2013 or a thank you for your patience by the staff. The 2 ladies were too busy bullcrapping about the Cowboys and Browns amongst other things and could care less how long the customers were waiting in the front area with no sense of urgency. I could only come in at 7pm as I'm a single Father coming home from work and have a small window to bring my son in. Extremely unhappy and will not recommend this location to anyone as I network with a lot of people in the area and will take my business elsewhere. I certainly hope these issues are addressed at this particular location. read more
