I finally stopped by this place after having it bookmarked for months. It's located inside Ballston Mall, on the very bottom floor, and its inviting colors always caught my eye. I am generally a fan of this place and would say that the avocado salad is quite food. However, I do have to say that the app that they promote is really not that great. They try to loop you into purchasing more for a bonus only to realize that you can't combine cash with balance in your account. I didn't expect to have so many drink options here. The Qué Chido was perfect for a hot summer day, had a little kick of the heat from jalapeño but was ultimately incredibly refreshing. This was also my first experience with deep fried Oreos... wow. The only reason I could share them was because I was filled up on my sandwich. Fries are the perfect level of crispy, I'm come back just for fries to go. The service here was especially noteworthy. Michelle and her team were wonderful! I enjoyed watching the care she put in to mixing up my drinks and answering any questions I had about the menu. The Superette team made me forget that I was in the Quarter Market on a bustling Friday night. Their location in the market is fantastic because the tables are spaced away from the other venders. I know with that kind of meat it's hard to keep it from getting dry, though. I chose the ranch chips with my sandwich. They had great flavor too, but were a little stale. Superette is the latest arrival to Ballston Quarter's Ballston Market, a great collection of local restaurants and food stands. Superette specializes in hot, fresh sandwiches that are packed in cute boxes. While it's clear that Superette pays attention to well crafted, good food. There are some improvements I'd like to see with service and the menu edges a bit on the more expensive side. I've ordered ahead there twice and walked up and ordered once. Both times I've ordered ahead I would have to wait an additional 15 minutes for my order after arriving 20-30 minutes after ordering. Both times were at non-peak quiet times. My walk-up experience was better. Their sandwiches are a little bit on the smaller side. The Ruben and Cubano are solid choices. Each has the feel of an artisan, handcrafted item. Everything has nice and in its place. Of course, it all tasted great. Most recently I tried their BLT-ish sandwich and that is my new fav: I don't know how they did it but the cut of pork taste just like bacon but in a more substantial package. The fries were nice and seasoned, no complaints there. A recent meal came with a dessert and a sangria, to me that gives it a better value but with sandwiches coming in around $15 it is on the more expensive end. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would but I am looking for a little bit more value before I can give it another star, however there's nothing sticking out that would stop me from continuing to try it- just not as often. read more

Had a great early dinner at Suprette this afternoon. We had the steak and cheese and short rib sandwiches with salad. Both were well seasoned with good quality ingredients. The salads were great. They had tomato, radish and avocado--not the usual boring side salad. We also ordered the whiskey sour and sangria. My boyfriend really liked the sangria, and I loved the sour. I never knew this existed but my Husband found it and, after a disappointing dinner at Michelin-rated Crane's the night before, I was hesitant to try a new place. Superette made the "Let's try a new place" experiment fun. Why is the food good? Temperature was spot on. We got the Short Rib because that was everyone's favorite dish, and it arrived promptly. Short rib melted like butter, and somehow the bread was firm but still softly accessible. I loved the taste with just enough grease to let you know you weren't eating healthy. We got the avocado on the side and I prefer it that way. Also, if you don't order the Fried Oreo's you are going to miss out. I grew up in Dallas so went to a lot of State Fairs, aka lots of fried foods, and this was the best I've ever had. The fried portion was light and NOT greasy. Giving Suprette a respectable 3* only because after trying their Cuban sandwich I was left wanting more. More flavor, more attention to detail and more authenticity. I try to go into similar non-traditional sandwich shops with an open mind and patience however it is difficult to denounce the expectation of an authentic Cubano sandwich when a restaurant claims to produce a Cubano sandwich. There is only one way to produce a Cubano sandwich. Not that this one wasn't good, however it didn't yield any authentic vibes. The bread was too thick, the meat overly minced and the flavor and moisture of the spreads were simply masked by the unbalanced ratio of bread to meat. I just could not quite experience the flavor of this sandwich as I wanted to because the bread was simply too much. It wasn't pressed well as you'd normally expect from a traditional Cubano sandwich. I did also try the deep fried Oreos which were a sweet treat. Overall an OK experience. If I am in the area again I'd like to give them another try and hopefully some of the interest will be sparked that I once had prior to my first experience. read more

Most other places in the food court are like 7/10 taste w a 5/10 price. Get any sandwich you want and I'm positive it will be good. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was that the bread was a little bit soggy by the time my sandwich got home. Just a slight takeout hiccup, but I was able to get past it and still enjoy my food. For my side I ordered their homemade sour cream and onion chips, I enjoyed those too!
