Seating was pleasant and well done. Waitress engaging and pleasant, recommended the brunch which was ending soon, but not to worry we would be accomodated without a worry. I had one of the brunch specials, eggs with smashed tortilla chios and Chorizo topper, beans and rice were "bottomless" , which is a nice touch, especially considering how delicious they were. My partner had 3 tacos, again very good. The chips were served upon a raised lazy suzy on tabletop, which was a nice touch. The tomatilla and avocado salsa and the smoky salsa accompaniment were nice upgrades to others standard fare salsa. Overall pleasant and well worth a visit. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but the recent changes have me disappointed. The flautas are no longer on the menu. The chicken in the enchiladas is different. Saucier and chunks of chicken as opposed to the flavorful shredded chicken that used to be there. The enchiladas used to be SO good but the chicken sauce competes with the enchilada sauce and the enchilada sauce should be the star if an enchilada. I've been going to Superica since it opened in the gulch and it was my fave Tex-Mex spot in Nashville. They recently did a, "Reboot" (their term... new menu, more servers, louder music, less food, higher prices) and I have to say... I'm not going back. The good news first: the service used to be pretty non-existent and they've really cured that problem as there's servers all over the place now. My issue is the portions shrunk considerably and the prices went up. Shrinkflation at its worst. Now the side items like rice and beans come, "Family style." Small bowls about 1/2 full. We barely had a single serving of rice and beans to split between the two of us. I had tacos al carbon (steak) for an entree. $29 bucks. They came as 3 tacos rolled up in small tortillas, about 1/2 the size they used to be, with a few pieces of steak in each one. I was pretty shocked how small they were, especially for the money. The Margarita was good but honestly, not $18 good. We ordered guacamole and it was maybe the most tasteless serving of guac I've ever had. It was almost like they forgot to put salt, onion, chile, pepper, lime juice or anything else in it; it was literally mashed up avocados, with sliced jalapeno and onions on top. The music's was much louder than it ever was, I've been there about 10 times, making conversation really difficult. Dinner for two, with one cocktail for each of us... $100.00 and $20 tip for the server. $120 bucks for a definite less than experience. No thanks. read more

Like non existent the first 15 minutes or so, the food was fine once we eventually ordered and ate, but a fairly underwhelming experience coming from Houston where Tex-mex is everywhere and service usually quite punctual given the competition. After eventually ordering drinks, and food, the food was just ok. My enchilada suizas didn't disappoint, it my wife's chicken taco salad was dry and meh. Had 2 margaritas, which took forever to receive, so I sat for 10 minutes or so finishing my second after I was done eating. Leaving, I had the immediate thought that they didn't seem very strong. I went during lunch and my food came out maybe 5 mins after I ordered it...no exaggeration, it was fast. Ginger Margarita: YUM 5/5 stars. The ginger was not overwhelming. A perfect marg to complement my meal. Queso Fundido w/ rajas y hongos: rajas y hongos are mushrooms and bell peppers. it's served with warm flour tortillas. SCRUMPTIOUS. The cheese was perfectly melted. There's a broth that forms from the mushrooms and bell peppers...it was perfect 5/5 Chicken Verde Enchilada: braised chicken covered wrapped in what I believe was a corn tortilla. Beautifully plated. A nice Tex-Mex place located in the touristy Gulch section of Nashville. While the food might possess a bigger price point than other restaurants, the quality is undeniable and the taste is solid. I opted for two different enchiladas, both were excellent and the accompanying rice and charro beans were great, as well. The salsa came out with both a green and red salsa. Went the other night with a group of friends. It was busy even though it was a wed night. The hostess said about 20 mins for a wait so we went to the bar. It ended up being about 20 mins or a little less so awesome estimation on her part! We all ordered a drink, which took a bit because the bar was busy and looked to only have 2 bartenders. This bar is massive and I feel like they almost need 3 to keep up. I ordered the blood orange margarita and it was awesome. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second after we sat down at the table. Heads up! It took us about 7-10 mins to get our drinks at the bar, but about 15-20 mins to get them at the table. Order early. Our waiter was super friendly and gave good suggestions. The vibe was really fun and relaxed. My only complaint is that the table we were sat at had the ac on full blast right down on the table. I mean, hair blowing in the wind powerful. I was freezing and had to sit on the other side of the table because of how it was angled so I didn't get the majority of it. I'm cold natured, but my friends weren't and they were cold too. Maybe need to adjust that vent somehow to accommodate this or move the seating so it's not directly on the table by the (what looks like a) buffet table. About the food. I loved the chips and salsa! And I'm not a chips and salsa girl. The chips are perfectly cooked and thin (think chuys) and the salsa is fresh. I also enjoyed the cheese/meat/guacamole dip that we got for a starter. I definitely recommend that. For the meal I ordered a mix/match of the Steak and pork tacos. They came with beans and had really good flavor, but man, they were fatty cuts of meat. The tacos were bigger than the street taco size and were stuffed full which was great, but the actual meat inside was about 60% fat. I know I'm picky about meat in general preferring the leaner cuts, but the way they serve their tacos is with big chunks cut up. With the big cuts the large amount of fat is not appealing to bite into. The flavor of the taco is already there. I would have preferred a less impressive smaller taco with only good cuts of meat to the larger one with all the fat. This was with both the pork and the beef so I know it wasn't just one type. But to bring it back around, the flavor was there and I enjoyed the veggies in the pork taco (including pineapple...yum!) All in all I'd come back here but I want to try the outside patio, gorge on chips and blood orange margaritas, and maybe try a vegetarian or chicken option. read more

Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable and explained everything on the menu as well as told us more about the style of food. It's Tex mex leaning more towards the Tex side. The food was very fresh and came out hot. I got the shrimp taco plate. It comes with 3 tacos with a side of beans. It was very good and the shrimp was nice and crispy with fresh toppings. My only thing is that it is $16 which is what the other taco plates range in price as well. The others I think were actually more expensive at $18. That seems a bit pricey to me for 3 tacos, but again it was very good. My brother and his girlfriend got the veggie enchiladas and that was enough for both of them so it was a good size portion! I forget how much it was though. Someone else got the pork belly plate and it came with tortillas and veggies to make tacos. The tortillas are made fresh in house and super delicious. All of the staff are also great. One of the kitchen people actually came out gave us a bag of tortillas with a container of salsa to take home on the house. Parking can be tricky as the parking lot is small. Otherwise it's street parking with a parking garage down the street. Overall great experience though! read more

When I hear the word Tex-mex I normally think of bad Mexican food however the menu here sounded so much better than the usual. I had to give it a try and sooo glad that we did. The house made syrup was the perfect complement. I only had one and still couldn't eat the whole thing. The margs were well crafted! Made with house fresh squeezed juices and you could tell from the taste. We had the mezcal margarita and the red grapefruit margarita and thoroughly enjoyed them. I loved the complimentary chips and variety of salsa were just delicious! There's parking on site which is rare in Nashville, some street parking options and a garage adjacent to the restaurant. The service was excellent! From the host, to the bar and servers. They were all very friendly and seemed to truly like the food. The patio area is gorgeous. I thought the price point was a little high for some of the regular entrees priced around $27 which we didn't try. However, from looking at the plates around us, it seems the servings were pretty generous and would good for sharing.
