With a sensor problem diagnosed at another reputable body shop I was diagnosed with multiple issues and a $2,500 quote. Keep all your records. After 6+ years of trusting Bob I am sad to say I have to leave. As a woman, I trusted Bob to take care of me and my cars without taking advantage of my poor knowledge of cars and how they work. Over the years, Bob worked on my car a lot: oil change, battery, brakes, water pump, radiator, etc... with no problems. I would leave and I felt good about everything, until recently. The last couple years, Bob brought his Son into his business. Bob's son does not seem to know a lot about car engines, but is eager to learn how to make money! Because Bob does not keep accurate computer files, Bob does not link your car to previous work done. Recently, I started to notice a trend, every time I brought my car to Bob I was told I need something additional. One example, I was in for a new battery, which soon became and oil change, air filter, hose(s) and a Serpentine belt. At this point I decided to look back at my previous service records and question what Bob was telling me. My records indicate Bob replaced my Serpentine belt 10,000 miles ago, and 15,000 ml ago Bob changed all my hoses. Bob also told me my oil was old and dirty and needed to be changed when, actuality my oil changed by Jiffy Lube 3 weeks ago. The trend was confirmed and consistent and I was sad, but I had to leave Bob. I hate leaving negative comments, but clients need to be aware. read more

I can't believe the 5-star reviews here are genuine. The place is always full of cars, which would indicate that it's popular, and that people trust Superior Auto. I don't. I brought my car in because it was making a hideous noise from the axle. Bob told me I needed new bearings. Once he had my wheels off he told me I needed a new wheel hub too. I spent about $600 that day. My car still makes the noise. Actually now it makes more noise. EDIT: I went back and they replaced my wheel bearings again for free. But now the car makes a different noise. read more

I'll post a new review for that one (I have actually used it and obviously it's just as awesome as the auto repair part of the shop) and here's the review as intended, for Superior Auto Repairs. Congrats, Bob, you get to pop my 5-star cherry. You ALSO get to work on any car I ever own, EVER. You are the most wonderful mechanic in the entire world. I'm serious, people. If you live anywhere in the Valley (or if you are me and like to drive all the way from Pasadena for quality auto care) Superior Auto Repairs is THE place to bring your car. Bob is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Definitely the kind of guy who remembers you and always asks about your family, travel plans, etc. Being in Woodland Hills he works with all types, but especially what I would consider high-end: Jag, BMW, Benz . . .my poor Toyota looks out of place in the shop. Although the place always has cars lined up in front of the garage, Bob is never to busy to stop and explain things to a nervous car-owner (like me). He will not so much as tighten a screw without informing you of what he is doing, and getting your permission to do it. He doesn't try to "up-sell" services you don't really need, and in fact, goes off on these brilliant tirades against all dealerships for doing exactly that. He also knows tons of people in the auto care business and if he needs to send your car for special work (outside his own shop) he definitely makes sure to find you the best price and best mechanic available. Over the years, I've taken two different cars to Bob and he's handled them wonderfully, especially when I was considering purchasing a "new" used car from a dealership (apparently they really cheated on that 200 Point Inspection). My boyfriend and his family have been taking their vehicles there for over 20 years and all of them swear by Bob (and trust me, these are people with extremely high standards of customer service). Customer service is so good that, on occasion, Bob is even willing to sell a car you want off your hands, or keep an eye out if you're looking to buy a quality vehicle from one of his other clients. The best thing? You know if they've been bringing their car to him for long enough for him to be willing to sell it for them, it's been WELL taken care of. In a word, fantastic. I cannot recommend Bob, his knowledge, and his team highly enough. A word of warning: this place looks like an absolute shit-hole. Don't let appearances be deceiving. read more

THE JERK HUNG UP ON ME! I called to get a quote for brakes. He quoted me at $157.00. I told him that I was hoping for lower and he said that he could do it for $110. I told him that I would be interested for that price. Then he asked me if I minded if the brakes were squeaky. I said that I did not want squeaky brakes and then he said, "Well then you better find someone else honey," and hung up on me! What was the point of that rudeness? What a loser. At the suggestion of a co-worker, intitially I went to a place down the street from Superior. Their estimate seemed a bit high (to replace my brake pads), so I stopped by Superior. Without haggling or telling them I had already been to another shop, their estimate was $100 less! They won my trust with repair and their service. Since then, it has been my experience, that Bob has always been honest about what needs to be done and what can wait. I went to Hal's for some minor body work; thier pricing is fair AND they (both Hal's and Superior) were fairly quick, considering the number of clients they have. read more

The other review here is spot on. I moved to Woodland Hills about two years ago and after reading that review I thought I would give this place a try. We have brought three cars here and have had extensive work done on each of them, including tire replacement as well as brake, transmission and body work. His prices are the best I have encountered. Bob has always taken the time to explain what needs to be done. They get the work done quickly; I have never needed to leave a car there more than a day. They even give me a ride back to my house if I need to drop off a car. They have provided service for our Toyota 4Runner, Acura MDX, and Merc AMG C55. They appear to work on all models, and I have saved a bundle, especially on the AMG, by taking our cars here for service instead of the dealership. The body shop next door is also great. In short these guys are amazing - I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

These guys did right by me and my vehicle. Called earlier this week about getting in for issues with my breaks, needing some tire service, fluids changed, etc. They told me to bring it in Saturday morning. Didn't make the morning, showed up around 12:30 and they still fit me in and handled everything super fast. The price was very reasonable and they didn't try to upsell me, this isn't that kind of place these guys are honest and will also let you know if they can do a temp fix and you can handle certain things later so it's more affordable and makes more sense with timing. Definitely worth the money and I appreciated their honesty, how nice they were and how quickly they took care of business. I recommend this place and will be back again in a few months. read more

It's hard to find a really good mechanic and I have found one recently, when my 9 year old Camry started overheating, and damaged other parts of the engine because I had to drive it 30 more miles to get home, I knew I was in trouble...I took it to Superior, based on a recommendation and Bob, thank you!! I've taken my car to the dealer first and I nearly fainted when they told me how much it would cost to fix. Bob's price was half lower...they were extremely busy (yes, they're very popular) so it took a few days for them to work on my car (and it was the holidays) but when I picked it up, it was good as new (fingers crossed!) Bob test drove it himself. He explained what was wrong with it and what needed to be done. Bob is a straight talker who cares about his clients. He doesn't know me at all, but he knew how anxious and worried about my supposedly "dying car" he gave it a new lease of life! I am grateful! I been bringing my Mercedes in for service and they really do a very through job taking care of the maintenance. They always communicate anything you should watch for. Great! Finally! No need for going to Toyota ever again. These guys open on time. I was there for 5 minutes and my Sequoia was on its way for much needed work. They found the problems in minutes, also came back with more things that I needed to fix. In one and a half days, they did the shocks, rotated, serpentine belt, cheap oil change, $20 bucks for changing Rad fluid. Cleaned engine area. Even a cash discount. What a nightmare of a day I had in the valley last week. The long and short of it is that I decided to go visit a friend the day before I was to leave on a week long vacation. Of course it was the hottest day ever in the valley. So my car started overheating when I went to leave to head back to Ventura. It was around 5:30. I stopped at Napa and bought some coolant and oil and topped everything off but less than a half mile later, overheating again! So I looked on Yelp and called a tow truck. As I was waiting for the tow truck, I started calling auto body shop after auto body shop but with it being after hours, none were answering. Until I called Superior. They answered their phone 45 minutes after they closed. They told me to tow the car there, leave it in the driveway and leave my key in their drop box with my info. When the tow arrived, I asked him what he thought of Superior and he told me he's heard a lot of great things about them and I made a good choice. The next morning, they called me and quoted me an unbelievable price and I couldn't be more happy with their flexibility. I was leaving on a plane that day and there was no way I could come in. I gave them my credit card over the phone and had a friend pick up my car. When I picked up the car from my friend, it was working perfectly again and the invoice was in the car detailing what they had done. The guy at the front desk was extremely helpful to me today. Two different gas stations had a shortage of my kind of oil (are people hoarding it?) and I stopped by this place. Sometimes there's a creepy vibe with mechanics, but these people are nice, honest, and not condescending. The guy sold me two quarts of oil without a mark-up and filled it up. I took my car in to have it looked at, Bob called me and stated that I need to have an Engine Mount replaced and a drive belt. I paid to have it fixed. I picked up the car and drove it work and immediately realize something was wrong, loud noise coming from the car and I noticed that I had a huge oil leak. I called Bob serval times to bring it back and told him what was going on. He stated that there was a leak BUT mind you I NEVER had a oil leak the way it was leaking. He NEVER mentioned it while fixing my car. I'm leaving puddles. I told him that something was wrong.... it was not making loud noise and wasn't safe to drive prior to me brining it in. I tried serval times so has my husband to bring it in to have it relooked at. Bob kept telling me that he was busy the following day and didn't have time. Finally I decide to bring it to another auto shop where he found the problem. They stated that the resourvour pump was cracked recently. How can you tell recently??? Well the crack looked like it was just cracked not "been" cracked. So I will report this to the business better bureau to get all the money that I spent for NO reason!!! read more

I'm new to the valley and didn't know where to go to have work done on my car. Based on the reviews and how convenient Superior is to my house I gave it a try. Here are my thoughts: Bob, although a really nice guy is very unorganized. They seem to be pretty fast at getting the work done but impatient for you to pick up your car. They didn't tell me what was going on with my car and just did the work which turned out to be ok in this case. The most important thing I would say if you go to Superior is get an estimate in writing. Over the phone I was told one price but he tried to charge me more but didn't do anything more than we had discussed. read more

I simply asked him how much he would charge me if I supplied the part and before I could asked him anything else he said we don't do that and hung up.
