I was having issues with my BMW and visited Jake at Pleasanton Smog and Repair. I always dread going to BMW shops since they typically will figure out a way to charge you hundreds of dollars and top of that, they will invariably make you wait or take a long time to fix your car. Jake was antithesis of all I know of a typical BMW mechanic. Not only he is master at this art, but he is honest and straight-forward. Doesn't play games with you. I have had 5 smog checks done here the past year. Friendly people and they are the cheapest in the tri valley area. They used to be 15.95 plus your certificate but they raised it to 19.95. Still the cheapest in town with great friendly service. If you need a smog go here. No games. I have not had any other services done here so I don't know about any other stuff. read more

The Absolute Worse! Stay away from this repair shop if you value your vehicle, seriously! They can not be trusted. I took my car in for a simple smog test. I waited in the lobby and during the smog test they damaged the hood (interior) and wheel well. There is clear evidence that the mechanic was not paying attention to what he was doing and disregarded the safety of my vehicle as he left some equipment in the engine compartment and slammed the hood down. Thus damaging the entire surrounding area. THE WORST PART is that the employees did not tell me about what happened or the damaged they caused. Instead they sent me home as if they did not do anything wrong and pretended like everything was in the original condition. This particular car of mine is a vehicle that (was) in prefect like new condition with barely 10k miles. Rarely driven, mostly for special occasions to car events and shows. To my dismay and horror I opened up the hood today Sunday Dec 16 2018 and discovered all the damage this shop caused to the interior engine compartment of my car. I would like the business owner to respond back to me and say why this shop thinks its ok to behave in this manor and fail to inform their customers of any damage the shop causes plus not take full responsibility for correcting something like this. There is no question that the mechanic knew about the damage he caused because you can't miss it. I usually don't raise an issue over minor things but this a MAJOR so I had to come here and WARN potential customers to STAY WAY FROM THIS SHOP. I will look for a response from management and hope take an honest approach to fixing the damage they caused. I placed my trust in them and they betrayed me in every possible way. This is very upsetting to say the least. No customer should never be subjected to a terrible experience like this from any business in the community. read more

I took my car there once because I just happened to have a coupon and was amazed how much better they were (less wait, cheaper, friendlier) than the other places I've gone to. Since then I've taken all my cars there every time and every visit was the same....fast, cheaper and better service than the other places. They always have me in and and out in about 20 minutes (not wait for 35 minutes in a line then another 30 for the test). They gave me the coupon price without a coupon. When I found out they couldn't smog one of my cars because they are no longer a "test only" facility, they even gave me one of their coupons and told me of a place that would accept competitors coupons. Bring cash or check because they don't accept credit cards. As mentioned above they are no longer a "test only" so I'm a little disappointed that I'll have to take one of my cars somewhere else. Smog cost me (all fees included) $25.00. When the place I used to go to charges nearly 4x that amount (admittedly less than that with a coupon) makes you wonder why locals would go anywhere else. read more

This is top of the line place when it comes to Oil changes and Smog. Prices are reasonable, customer service is unbelievable. Technical: Found out Jake is a certified BMW tech...bonus! That said they worked on my 05' Dodge Durango over two visits for Smog / Oil. They found (and fixed FREE) a couple minor things that I was aware of (not plants on my part, just things I already knew were wrong and wasn't expecting them to fix), and just as important, they did NOT "discover" anything extra. In short, ...HONEST! Experience: Very friendly/comfortable; Tara to begin with, on down to the other techs and even other customers! Took my Honda in for a smog check. After 10 minutes I was informed the aftermarket air injection did not have the proper CARB (emissions) sticker so the car will not pass smog. They could have gone ahead and failed me but did not do that. I was able to get the correct CARB sticker from the manufacturer and returned a week later to try again to smog and all was good. Needed a smog check so I called and the guy said that no appointment is required. I came down to the office to drop the car off or wait depending on the wait time... When I walked in, the guy at the desk looked up at me, no greeting, and after a few seconds of me standing there waiting for him to say something he finally said "Yea?", like I'm bothering him. Strike one. Then, I told him that I wanted a smog check and he said I would need to come back. I said I could leave the car there and he could call me when it was ready. He said that I can't do that because parking is congested. I got the hint that he didn't want my business for what ever reason and left. In a nutshell, the guy at the desk is an a$$hole and they don't know what customer service is. Looking at the other reviews, anyplace that sells someone a brake fluid and power steering change is out to milk you for all your worth. Don't go there even for the simplest job as oil change. They changed oil for my car back in April and the oil change sticker was set for another 4500 miles even thought it should've been 7500 miles cuz it's synthetic oil. Can't even get a sticker right. Secondly my oil change light came up again after only 4 months. They couldn't explain why except to blame on the the light. You won't have my business anymore. read more

I called and was told to come on down they were not busy. I got there and got all the paperwork written up. They told me go take a walk it will take 30 minutes. I returned in 45 minutes and my car was moved but not done. They got busy after I left. My car is old so smog test takes longer. Came in for a smog check and got turned away. They say they are open until 5pm; I arrived at 4:33. I was told their cut-off is 4:30 and they turned a couple of other customers away already. This was the second time I have attempted to come in and couldn't be taken. If you are not going to accept customers during stated business hours, because you have to close by 5, then change your hours to 4:30 so you don't mislead people. An Employee asked me why I was upset about this and told me that I am the first to complain and want to write a bad review. Let's see... drove all the way there to get work done and use a discount coupon and was turned away... I wonder why I am complaining. Check out other reviews... I should have before going. Horrible experience with these people. I see the reviews and check out their website, which says "Please call to schedule an appointment". So I call and the guy says it's first come first served. I said that their site says to call to schedule, but the guy says we don't take appointments. So I ask if they are busy and how long the wait is and he says we can get you in quickly. So I get to their shop 7 minutes later and there are people standing around everywhere and cars double parked and the guy says it'll be at least 2 hours. I said I called less than 10 minutes ago and you said you could get me in quickly. He says he doesn't know who told me that, but his voice sounded suspiciously exactly like the guy I talked to on the phone. I couldn't wait that long so I left. So I go there again today, because they are supposed to be open on Mondays like their website says, but nobody is there and everything is locked up. 8 minute smog check!! I researched online for a deal or coupon for a local smog check & found their website. I called ahead to confirm the coupon deal on their website & if I needed to print it (he told me no)- $19.75 for smog check & $8.25 for the certificate = $28.00 (*CASH ONLY* & depending on car year & car type). From walking in, the job, and paying - less than 10min! Super efficient, but come during an off time - I went in on a Friday at noon. They are closed during 12:30-1:30pm for lunch. Very friendly & professional. FYI the website and gps will make you turn on Stanley drive, but turn on Vervais Ave!! The Stanley Drive address takes you to Chilton Auto Body shop which Pleasanton Smog & Repair are on the other side. I asked if the two businesses have any correlation to each other and they don't. The office is tiny with old beaten leather couch but you aren't there that long. Highly recommend! read more

This was the first time I was here for the smog check. I called earlier to check the service and price. I arrived around 1:30pm as they told me it is the time they work after lunch break. It's good place for smog check. Staff are all very polite. After I arrived there're couple of cars waiting already. I checked in and lady told me it'll be about 30 mins for the waiting time. I just read my book for around 25 mins and it's all set. Quoted $35 and charged the same. I'll definitely come back and will recommend it to all. The only thing is their parking space is very limited but I don't mind. :-) read more

They tell you a good deal for a smog and then they tell you your car wont pass after looking under the hood not even testing for a smog. Then expect you to pay for it.
