I am doing a backyard project and used Yelp and Angie to try and find someone to help. While several vendors came by and measured - only two actually followed up with a quote and proved to be responsive throughout the whole process. Superior Improvements was one of them. I ultimately decided not to move forward with Superior, but only because of timing issues. While it was obvious Superior has a high quality bar they are a smaller shop that seems to be in high demand so their next availability was a month or so out. The other vendor seemed to have a much larger operation and had an opening within the week. If you are looking to do a turf project and have some time - give these folks a shot to quote you. It's unfortunate that I have to write this review, but I do not want anyone to have to go through this tiresome and frustrating experience. We've been ghosted by Isaac at Superior Improvements - they took our money, did less than half of the job promised, and now we have to find another company who would be willing to do a partial job during the busy summer season. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I was hopeful and excited about working with Issac and his team after a positive review from our neighbor. Things started off positively with Isaac calling me back promptly to set up time for a visit and provide a quote. Isaac seemed knowledgeable about turf options and provided very competitive pricing and said they could do the job soon. Even though it was going to take 3 weeks to secure the turf material, he asked if his team could get started on removing the weeds and soil and prep the yard with base rock. We agreed, and his team arrive promptly on the agreed upon date (April 7) and got to work right away. They were an efficient and pleasant team and did a good job with the removal and prep. The only prep work they weren't able to complete was laying the the base rock for one section of the yard because they ran out of material. They said they'd be back once the turf material arrived in a couple of weeks to complete the base rock pre and pack and install the turf. Fast forward 3 weeks, the turf supplier finally received our material and Isaac's team picked it up and set a date (May 12) to install. The night before, Isaac messaged me and said when he checked the material, his team was given the wrong turf by the supplier. Supposedly, the supplier had swapped our material with another order. Unfortunately, by the time Isaac connected with the other installer, they had already used our material for their customer. Isaac informed me that the turf supplier wasn't the best and had had mishaps like this before. But the supplier said they'd rush order replacement turf and it should arrive in a week. A week later on Friday...we got an update that the replacement turf had not arrived but should arrive on the following Monday. On Monday, still no turf but should arrive that week. Later that week, still no turf. Two weeks later, no turf. Three weeks later, still no replacement "rush ordered" turf or an update on if and when our turf would arrive and when they could schedule and finish the job. At this point, Isaac stops responding to texts and won't answer calls. On Friday, June 2, I decided to call from another phone number - Isaac picked up and was surprised that it was me. I asked him for an update and he said he didn't have one and the supplier wasn't responding to him. I can understand that the supplier may not be great, but Issac chose the supplier and he should manage them to ensure he can deliver the job he agreed to. If he can't get what he needs from the difficult supplier, he should have chosen a different supplier. We have been so tired of waiting that I let Issac know that we would be open to a different turf material just to get our yard finished. He said he'd follow up with the supplier again, get an answer, and call me back with an update. Over a week later, I still have not received a call back nor have I received any responses to my texts or calls to check in and ask for an update. We paid half to order material and to book the job. We have no material and the job is not even 50% completed. We have been sitting with an unfinished yard, including a tree with exposed roots, for over 2 months and cannot get a hold of anyone. I assume no one wants to end up like us, so do not hire this company. You should take your business to a company that will finish the job. read more

It's hard to go in blind when choosing a company to do work of this cost but my contractor said you'll get a feeling about the person. I called superior improvements along with 2 other turf companies for bids on a rectangular patch of soil that desperately needed something green. Isaac was responsive and came out the very next morning to get me pricing and bring me samples. My feeling was he is honest and hard working and right away I had a good feeling. In the end we chose superior improvements for multiple reasons. We were on a timeframe and I had a good feeling about Isaac and his company. They could accommodate our timeframe which was pretty tight. Fast forward to the install day. They were quick, hard working and the end result is excellent! Couldn't be happier. My neighbors hatin' sooo hard cuz my yard is so damn clean!!! Can I tell you how this started? I called Isaac and the next day he squatted over to the house. We agreed on a price, which was considerably lower than the other quotes I received. Two days later, I got to meet Victor, Jorge, Marco, Marco Jr, Fernando...look, they brought their whole shop out to this joint with the goal of knocking it out. What I liked most was the way they all got along with each other. Totally professional, family atmosphere, and respected the soil. Lemme tell you, that's big with me. I liked what I saw. They demo'd my overgrown, Grandma's drought-resistant, anxiety-inducing, Sunday-wasting front yard in one day. Designed and installed artificial turf in the following two days. Oh, and a fence that was about 150 ft long. Five days! Oh my God!!! Last week I was ready to off myself because my front yard was a living hell. Now, when I look outside, I'm in Xanax Nirvana. It feels so damn good. This investment is a life-changer. I'm ready to retire now. Just look at the pics... And to all my neighbors: Stop mean-muggin your boy. Step your yard game up. Had a large turf job completed by Superior improvements. Tried texting and calling them numerous times to repair some broken water lines from their crappy installation practices. Isaac and his buddy Phil Johnson never replied back. They operate their business out of Richmond/ El Sobrante area.. They are using someone elses license which is bogus.. Even their supplier Purchase Green in Concord Ca haven't seen them in months!! I paid them in full no problem there.. They sub contract their work out for the actual work done.. At first they seemed legit but after they get your money they get crooked faaaassst! Their subs drove the long spikes nails into the wire mesh to keep the gofers from coming into the turf. Those long 6 inch nails punctured the water lines in 2 areas.. Those nails are to hold the turf down not the wire mesh! Can't watch them every minute and hold their hand.. I called 2 other companies to pay them to repair the broken water lines and they didn't want nothing to do with it.. there are a lot of crooked turf guys out there.. I ended up repairing it myself!! Be aware don't hire these crooks you will be sorry! Isaac and Phil Johnson will be working in the Sacramento area from information given to me.. I am a tough consumer yet I can recommend Isaac and his team to do your artificial lawn with my strongest recommendation. In short, they did a premium job, done promptly at a mid-market price. Not just premium, gorgeous antimicrobial lawn, but crucially, premium soil removal, base, infill, gopher wire, and tight installation. I did a lot of research so I know. I have contractors in my home now - once again lies... crazy man! The so called "built bocce" was me spending $400 on wood that was to be framed and they completely ruined it!! They were suppose to come back and fix it - nope. All needs to be replaced. Again, unfortunate! Buyer beware!!! I am filing a law suite against the company now! They left my yard in shambles, 3 truck loads of dirt piled up, lied about ordering turf and said it was coming to my house - guess why me ever showed up. I am happy to share how horrible the experience was and now I have to hire another company to come fix their errors. Isaac will say anything to get the job and then change it on you. Isaac and his crew did an Awesome job!!! We had skunk problems digging holes on the lawn. Isaac was very thorough with the process and answered any questions we had. His crew got it completed within a day and half and our front yard looks FANTASTIC!!! We continuously receive complements from our neighbors that walk by. I contacted them and received an e-mail that someone would be reaching out to me - this was on a Monday. By the end of Tuesday, I sent a follow up e-mail. I tried calling but mailbox was full. We worked with them to redo our backyard. For years, we could not get our grass to grow properly and essentially gave up. We worked with Isaac at Superior Improvements and he came in came and gave us a quote to regrade and install turf. He was honest, professional, and transparent and was true to his word. He and his crew did a great job. I can't recommend him enough. It took a little longer than expected and with all projects didn't go exactly according to plan but Isaac managed all and kept to his original quote and explained things thoroughly and patiently. We have some artificial lawn that was largely neglected for a couple years resulting in weed growth and flatten appearance. We didn't have the budget to replace the entire lawn, so I went in search of someone who could inject back some "live" into it. Superior Improvements was one of the two companies I could find that was willing to do this. Other companies tried to sell me new artificial lawn instead or other much more costly solutions.
