We saw the wall of wines behind the reception and decided to try a few Georgian wines which were all pretty good. The friends platter was great, especially the pkhali! Ajaruli Khachapuri - a cheese boat with raw egg whipped together on the table. Definitely worth a try but remember it can be very heavy/greasy. The Khachapuri with cheese and egg (combined tableside) is sinfully good. The only dish that disappointed was the Pork Mtsvadi - it was extremely fatty and as a result, overly greasy. But that didn't discourage us from ordering a generous hunk of honey cake to share. I should also add that their wine list is chock full of lovely and quite reasonably priced Georgian wines. Service is alright, they seemed a bit stretched. Atmosphere is quite loud. Visited early - 5pm - on a Saturday. Made a reservation in advance and had no issues. The outdoor patio is heated btw! The decor is gorgeous and there's plenty to choose from on the menu. We had everything from the meat platter to the dumplings to the potatoes. The dumplings were the star of the show - large enough to fit the palm of your hand. Filled with delicious meat and broth. The meat platter was disproportionately costly for the ratio of meat (limited) to potatoes and veggies. I enjoyed the wine list with the detailed overview of Georgian processes. I tried the orange wine sampler and it was a fun experience. Our server was challenging to flag down once we were ready to pay, which is always frustrating when places aren't too busy. I always tip generously regardless - but it didn't help the cost! Although, overall I found the experience to be pretty underwhelming for how expensive everything was. Perhaps it was a bad day? One of our friends was visiting town and suggested we have dinner here, and I'm so glad we did; I had never had Georgian food before this and might not have thought to try it but everything was so good. We shared a bunch of food family style including: Gobi Friends Platter Pork and chicken Mstvadi Pork & Beef Khinkali Megruli Khachapuri and I had a Mango-Cucumber mule mocktail. I loved everything. The mocktail was more to my taste than an expensive cocktail I had elsewhere the same evening. Perfect blend of sweet and tart. I didn't miss the booze at all. It's hard to pick a favorite so I'll start with the two things that while very good, I would not feel I needed to order on every visit. That would be the chicken mstvadi and the megruli khachapuri. The chicken was still moist and flavorful and came with a lot of chicken; when they say 5-6 pieces, each of those pieces needs to be cut into 3-4 pieces to chew and swallow anyway. So it's a lot. The megruli khachapuri was like a flatbread cheese pizza without sauce and where the cheese was a combination of cheese that has something kind of feta adjacent. It was delicious but I would only order that if a lot of people are sharing it as one piece goes a long way and it's pretty big. We brought half of it home. Now for the other stuff that was just amazeballs; the pork mtsvadi was perfection. I don't know what the sauce it came with is but the pork was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and out of this world delicious. The pork & beef khinkali (soup dumplings) are about 2-3x the size of an Chinese soup dumpling so a portion of 6 is very large. The flavors are very different than Asian soup dumplings but oh so good. The Gobi friends platter had a ton of different dips and veggie appetizers that were all super delicious. I particularly liked the dip that was like beet hummus. Service was good, prices were actually quite reasonable given how much food you get. Our part of the bill was less than I paid for drinks at a cocktail bar down the street. I will absolutely come back. Only complaint is boy is that dining room loud. I'd try to find a non-peak time to come, if such things exist. read more

This was a fantastic meal! I came on a weeknight with a last minute reservation, and even though they were busy, the service was excellent throughout the meal. I fully intended to order the khachapuri when I walked in but we ended up trying new dishes I had not had before including the mushroom and meat kincali, the chicken, and the potatoes. Everything was amazing. I think the potatoes ended up being our favorite - they were so crispy and well-seasoned. We also got the honey cake for dessert which was so delicious. I went here for a friend's birthday party and was able to try so much of the food. The stand outs for me were the pork belly skewers and chicken croquettes. Those were both great starters. The cheese and red bean stuffed breads were good. The Georgian soup dumplings were both great. The potato and cheese one reminded me of a pierogi and the pork and beef one had such good meat inside. The grilled kebabs and ground lamb were great. The pork with red tkemali was really good as well. The only thing I was not the biggest fan of was the river trout. The khinkali dumplings were fresh and flavorful, the khachapuri was perfectly baked with rich, melted cheese, and the chicken croquettes were cooked perfectly with great texture and flavor. The Georgian Khinkali dumplings here are absolutely amazing. I have had Georgian food before that was brought to Israel with Georgian jews and I sometimes make some Georgian dishes at home but this was the first time I went to a dedicated Georgian restaurant in the US. I had the vegetarian Khinkali ones with with cremini mushrooms, tarragon, dill, parsley, and white wine vinegar. These really exceeded any expectation I had (and I am known for my food optimism). First the dough was super thick and soft and oh so tasty. They were big! The filling of Khinkali dumplings has soup in it too like a soup dumpling and they were super juicy and super flavorful here. The vinegar and some spices came separately and it was really perfect. I didn't like the service when I was in but the food was absolutely delicious. I also find the owner, Jonathan, to be very kind, respectful and open to feedback. Note that they charge a 4% service fee (not a credit card fee). I would definitely be interested in going back to try more here when I am in DC and hope the service will be better and more professional next time. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. It's been a while since we ate at Supra so we went back. The appetizer platter did not disappoint. The walnut-based dips and pickles were out of this world. We also had the ribeye and lamb and they were phenomenal. However, I noticed that the Lobio did not taste the same. It tasted like it came out of a can and watered down. No flavor. I used to be able to taste fenugreek and coriander. What happened? Also, I was so happy to see Chicken Tabaka on the menu, but that also was disappointing. The chicken pieces seemed to be too big and so when cooked, some sections were dry. There was too much hot pepper on it so it was very difficult to eat. The Tabaka wasn't really flavorful. I'd suggest that Supra use Cornish hens instead for this dish and boost the spices up a bit for flavor and reduce the use of hot peppers. It's been a few years since we came here last and I was surprised to see that their service is still a solid 2/5 star (there food remains 4/5 star). We came in for my moms birthday as its still one of her favorite restaurants. The seating is always so uncomfortably close - you feel apart of the tables next to you almost. We sat down and did not have our server acknowledge us for over 25 minutes. He came up to the table super close to the right and would just turn around and walk away. When we finally caught him and ordered cocktails, those cocktails took another 15 minutes to arrive and in the meantime, he never took our food order. The table next to us sat down after us and got served drinks and their first round of food before us. When our food finally came out, it was pretty good but we lost touch of some of the touches they used to have. They didnt bus our cocktail drink glasses off the table the whole meal but were picking up plates the minute the food left them (taking away our soup dumpling sides before we were done using them). They no longer mix the cheese boat thing for you and by the time ours came out, the cheese was half hard, making it hard to mix. The flavors of all our food were decent (soup dumplings with meat was our favorite) but other things didn't hit the mark like the mushroom dish or the tiny bit of bread they gave us for the friends platter. The stars of the show was the desserts- we really enjoyed the mousse and the honey cake. We ordered a cognac and the waiter just forgot- and he never checked up on us after our desserts showed up so it took 20 more minutes to catch him and remind him of it. At the end, there was no offer to comp this delayed drink or anything. They also now charge an extra 4% for labor costs. read more

I really wanted to like Supra -- I've heard great things and was excited to try Georgian food in DC. Unfortunately, my experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Service was okay, and the cocktail was passable but nothing memorable. The biggest letdown was the khinkali. The dough fell apart before I could even attempt the classic bite-and-slurp. The pork and beef filling was juicy, but oddly firm -- more like a meatball than the tender, delicate texture it should have had. The khachapuri didn't fare much better. While the presentation was solid, the bread tasted very American in both texture and flavor. If you're familiar with Georgian cuisine, you'll likely walk away disappointed. If you've never had it before, this is a mediocre tease of how rich and incredible Georgian food can be. It's hard to tell if the issues here stem from trouble sourcing authentic ingredients or simply a lack of familiarity and execution in the kitchen -- but either way, it misses the mark. I might return to try something else on the menu, but based on this visit, Supra felt more like a stylized interpretation than the real thing. Beyond that, I enjoyed the vibe and the dining experience here. The staff seemed enthusiastic and pleasant. First time trying Georgian Food so I was impressed. Trying their lamb soup dish made me feel nostalgic even though I've never had this cuisine before. But it reminds me of similar hearty soups in my culture. This was my first experience with Georgian food, and I was so happy with it. I tried tarragon chacha, it was like 11am so it certainly woke me up-- wow!!!! Strong stuff. But great. Located on the boarder of Logan Circle and Shaw, it specializes in Georgian food with a variety of options that will satisfy any taste. It is a larger space that has both indoor and outdoor seating, and it provides an intimate and fun experience for any party size. We ventured here with friends and shared everything! Starting with the Gobi Platter and the Ajaruli Khachapuri, these amazing dishes provided so much food for between the pickled vegetables and the famous egg and cheese bread boat. We followed it with the Georgian Mixed Grill Platter, which gave us a taste of all the meat options, the lamb being my favorite. By the end, we were so full we didn't get a chance to peak at the dessert menu. Our service was great throughout the entirety of the meal. I would definitely suggest Supra if you haven't been yet. I have been coming to Supra since 2022 (when I get a chance when I'm in DC) and recently went back as I had a hankering for their Khachapuri (a boat shaped yeasty bread - the classic version being filled with butter and cheese and egg). I'd only been for brunch before so it was nice to get to try their dinner menu. They are recently on InKind - which is an app that gives you some discounts on local restaurants and in 2025, it's always nice to get a deal. Since it was a Friday and we didn't make a reservation ahead of time, we got seats at the bar and it was EXTREMELY BUSY - there were maybe only two servers and the two of them were also bartenders so the service was super slow, to no fault of their own. Supra is such a cultural gem to the country of Georgia. They have excellent natural wines there and their chacha- a liquor similar to grappa. I also liked their NA drinks made with ginger. In typical fashion, I over overed for three people, and it was TOO MUCH FOOD. Their appetizers except the khachapuri have gone down hill since I last came here but I LOVED their meat dish. It is a STUNNING space and quite large - there is only two bathrooms for the massive space so FYI. It's a fun place but the food definitely tasted less elevated than before. read more

I was here recently with my partner and some friends. It was our first visit, and overall it was a positive experience. I loved my red sangria, and my partner's cocktail was good as well. They do half off bottles on Tuesdays, which was a nice special. We tried the egg/cheese bread (delicious but messy), along with the potatoes and pork belly for appetizers. The manager came out to check and we requested that they be turned off or at least ours and they agreed that it was super hot. It was delicious. Great Georgian food. 4.5 stars. Have had plenty of eastern European food, but this is a new favorite. Came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Four of the five in our party were first-timers at Supra and all plan to go back. AMBIANCE We strolled in on a weekday evening for a nice dinner with friends. We made a reservation a week earlier and were greeted and seated immediately on arrival. The area is clean modern, dark yet cozy in an upscale moody way, and neat decor open kitchen so you can see the happenings if you sit near the reception area. SERVICE We were served water and given the menus to peruse. It's definitely an extensive menu with many individual and sharing options. Given first timers to the cuisine, we opted to try more and share. We went with the Friends platter, pork khinkali, ajaruli, andcgrilled meat platter for our table of 4. It was a good amount of food. FOOD Our starter came out quickly with a side of shotis puri (Georgian flatbread) and was an exquisite array of house made sulgoni cheese (kind of mozzarella like but more sour), beet pkhali (a beet walnut coriander spread) was the best!, another butternut pkhali, and eggplant rolled up in walnut paste was delicious! The jonjoli pickled shrub was interesting to try but not our favorite. The spreads with the walnut crunch were a special treat and worked very well with the flatbread. Refreshing pickled cabbage too. Good assortment to taste test! Next came the khinkali (soup dumplings) with the pork and beef and side of pepper. Tasted like an average dumpling but a much thicker skin than I expected. The Khachapuri (cheese filled bread boat!) was deliciously comforting. Loved watching them mix the egg yolk and butter into the cheesey goodness and then pull it apart and eat it. A comfort dish for sure and the bread was perfect. Georgian grilled meat platter was alright. Most of the meats besides the pork were rather dry without the sauces of kakhetian guda cheese (sheep milk cheese sauce), satsebeli (tomato garlic), roasted red ajika (chili paste). Nothing extraordinary here but easy enough to order and try a bunch to share. Also wished the waitstaff would explain more if the dishes to first timers...would feel more welcoming. My expectations were high as this had been recommended several times. Food was good. I'd go back, but I wasn't wowed. The dumplings were excellent. The other dishes were alright. I stopped by around 5:20 on a Tuesday and the place was pretty quiet, with no one in the bar area and only ~two tables occupied in the main restaurant area. Happy hour is decent with food at $10-$12 and drinks $7-$10, M-F 3-6 PM and all night Wednesday. We got four cocktails and three plates: pork belly, mini-ajaruli khachapuri, and pork and beef khinkali (soup dumplings). The pork belly had three large pieces of pork belly over grits with a light spicy honey sauce. It was great -- a large portion, cooked well, very tasty, not too spicy or two sweet. The khachapuri was also delicious and a good portion, about half of size of the regular one. I didn't like the soup dumplings that much; I found them bland, although also a large portion size. We got good value for our money. Cocktails were all tasty and fairly strong. This was enough for dinner for two people. The place filled in a little more by the time we left. Supra is such a special place! My friend and I have been meaning to try Georgian food and we decided to come for lunch one weekend. We walked in and the ambience has such a warm, clean and open vibe. The place was fairly empty, with only one other occupied table. Immediately once we started looking at the menu, we realized how much about Georgian food we were unfamiliar with lol. After much googling, we picked the Ajaruli, the Morning Kubdari, and the Mushroom Khinkali. We enjoyed everything we ate and got full pretty quickly from all the carbs. Our only complaint is that the service was pretty poor. No one checked on us and when we had questions, there was no one around for the whole meal basically. Hence, our reliance on Google.
