Absolutely worst place. Put our order in an hour ago so called up to see what was going on with it only to find out they lost our order and the girl said sorry were not going to even make it for you. They also had already charged us for the food. So you took my money and told me you're not getting any food? What a trashy shady business. And then told me I'm not getting refunded until tomorrow. Great food, convenient location, nice casual ambiance. Highly suggest the Buffalo Solider! Huge burrito with lots of flavor. I love the relaxed vibe of the atmosphere. It's more convenient to dine there than take out, since you have free refills and unlimited access to the delicious salsa bar and incredible soda machine! All 4 salsas are delicious and unique in their own way, they're all worth trying (They def give you enough chips to do this!). My favorite is the Baja salsa. If Willy Wonka made a soda fountain machine, this would be it. There's every soda you can think of in any flavor you can imagine! Strawberry, peach, lime, cherry...you got it! I can't believe all the negative reviews on here. I seriously love this place. The food is always good, never stale, fast, and flavorful. I always receive everything fast and the staff is always friendly. I probably eat here more times a week then I really should. A+ in my book. read more

I come to this Mexican restaurant almost every time I'm down the shore. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. But the most important part about every yelp review is the quality of the food and it is delicious. The maverick burrito is fantastic, It's complete with chicken, lettuce, cheese and, Pico de gallo. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Mexican food. read more

I've been here before and only returned for the grand kids. The counter service was good and our order came out fast. For me, the chips were just not needed in the quantity given. No one finished theirs, but the kids got to take them home. The food is average. Nothing to write home about, then again I am not a fan of Mexican or TexMex or whatever this stuff is. My Cali wrap came out soggy in the middle and hard on the ends. The taste of the inside mix was good and that's what save it. My wife reported her taco salad as watery on the bottom. Overall, the choices are somewhat overpriced. Add two more dollars and you can get a full meal at most of the local restaurants around here. See you next Summer if the kids ask again. read more

Well, I can at least say I tried it. The tortilla chips tasted stale. Seemed to be run by kids my age that did a whole lot of nothing, didn't appear to enjoy their jobs. There just seemed to be such a lack of flavor in the tacos, tasted very, very bland, and didn't have much excuse for lettuce or cheese. My dad who had the 2nd Combo said the rice/beans were not all that bad. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed despite all the hype. read more

I said I'll never go back - but I did. Never again!!! The food appears inexpensive but you need to buy a lot to fill up. I spent $33 on 2 Buffalo Soldiers and two Hard and cheap Bland as heck cheese quesadillas (no flavor at all) with 2 sodas. They give no sour cream/lime and the burrito was mostly rice filler. Every time I have placed an order over the phone there has been a mistake in the order. One time they put chicken in a vegetarian burrito and when I had it remade, they did the same thing again. Other reviewers have mentioned how great the soda machine is and it is pretty neat... but if the soda is the only positive thing at a restaurant, that's pretty bad. Usually the place is on the dirty side and the employees aren't very mature or attentive. The food is overpriced and just so-so. Chips are usually stale and bland. read more

Surf tacos used to be great! This was mediocre ... Decent food... Ok guac... Nothing special Worst part was the bathroom with the broken doorknob. So I couldn't lock it and the garbage was overflowing with towels and trash. Toilet was also broken, couldn't flush, and it was filled with piss. Doesn't really put you in the mood to eat. I don't complain on yelp...ever. and even if I did, I wouldn't give a one star review. So why now do you ask? In a part of the world with three solid burrito chains, not to mention your chipotle's or qdoba's...even taco bell by comparison...there is no reason for so little attention to be paid to the food or the restaurant itself. All six of the employees were constantly on their cell phones, hiding in the back, peeking through the curtain every so often, or sitting on the counter (food goes there...come on). Half of our food was good, I'll be honest. The surf taco is always made well and the burrito I got was good enough, but the beef tacos were inedible. The beef had no flavor and was too watery. If you are going to serve beef tacos, don't make them an afterthought. How hard is it to open a pack of taco seasoning when you cook beef? It was inedible. The only thing with any flavor on the taco was the shell. All of the beans were hard, cold, and undercooked. The rice was dry and cold. There were next to no chips with the combo plates...the entire experience was just trashy and thrown together. If I wanted rushed garbage tacos I'd have gone to taco bell, and for a third the price I'd have had legitimately better food. Let me be clear just in case the owner of this branch reads this, mellow atmosphere should not also equate to lazy employees. at the end of the day this is a business and if your employees take no effort to prepare your food properly or even watch your store, you should hire someone willing to work. read more

We stopped for tacos in lieu of hitting the Forked River rest stop and were really glad we did. We had fish tacos, Baja style, steak tacos and guacamole. All tasty and fresh. I've had better but Surf Taco was ten times better than Sbarro and probably cleaner and friendlier, too. read more

I ordered a chicken tender taco. It came with chips and the guacamole was extra. The taco was a very small portion and only had one tender in it and was over cooked and hard. For the price of the meal I would rather go to Chipotle. The staff was friendly and making sure the guests were taking care off. read more

Moved here recently, had delivery now about 4 times, Burritos are excellent as are the surf tacos! However, ordered the nachos a few times and got really soggy chips that only half was edible. Also ordered beef soft taco that just fell apart and was hard to eat. Food is tasty though, I love the salsa and I recommend the Maverick Burrito it's the bomb! read more
