Surfin' Betty's Burger Bar is an absolute hot spot for Bethany Beach... and any other local beach goer that desires AMAZING food!! On our annual Bethany Beach vacation, we searched for the latest restaurant openings and Surfin' Betty's looked like a place worth trying... WOW- IT CERTAINLY IS!! The menu is mind numbingly good!!! We had such a hard time picking our meals because everything sounds amazing from the burgers to the fried chicken sandwiches to the wings to the hot dogs. The abundant toppings, the clever names, and the clear passion for food jumps off the page!!! Maybe it's called Surfin' Betty's because you will keep Surfin and Surfin through the menu on a tidal wave of salivation!!!! We did an online order for takeout. Modifications were simple and the entire ordering process was a breeze. The restaurant is down Garfield Pkwy inland, but only a few minutes from Bethany Beach. The parking lot is jam packed as a few good restaurants are all in the same plazas. But patience is a virtue and spots open up! FYI it's a good thing if a popular place is popular... just remember that! The food pickup was even simpler. Clearly tagged and bagged.. even with a Bag 1 of 2 to ensure that I grabbed both. The order had hand written notes on each container to even make handing it out so easy with an order for a large family. THIS FOOD was THE BEST that we ate all week at Bethany Beach!!! Unanimous decision from the entire family! Highlights - Jam Good Bacon Burger - with two smash patties crisped and greasy, a gooey bacon jam, and applewood bacon that was utter perfection, this burger is still in my dreams!!! Pittsburgh Dawg - my hometown represented 7 hours away, I had to order it! The beef link with creamy coleslaw and crispy French fries all held by a buttery Texas Toast - I hate to say it .... But Primanti's should take notes Sweet Thai Chicken Wings - crispy wings with the tastiest sauce ever. Perfect balance of sweetness, savory, and spice!!! I'd eat Sweet Thai as a salad dressing or use it as a toothpaste - I loved it!! The restaurant itself was super well decorated too. This location has been through new occupants for the past few vacations, but I no doubt will see Surfin Betty's next year and for years to come!! read more

We ate at the bar. Nice slushy drinks and lots of tasty food! Mozzarella moons are great. Warm, golden, crispy with a nice marinara sauce. Terrific fries! The hot dog is great! Loaded with tasty toppings. Good burger, too. Nicely cooked. Attentive and super friendly service. Lots of families and a casual, relaxed setting. I was looking for a good burger place in Delaware when I saw the high reviews for Surfin Betty's Burger Bar and I decided to give it a try. With that known, I found it to be a bit overrated. To begin, I ordered the mozzarella moons for an appetizer and they were excellent. The breading was crispy and the cheese was fresh with a great pull. These were easily the best part of the meal. After that, I ordered the Jam Good Bacon Burger with fries and the results were mediocre. To explain, the burger was overcooked and the meat was bland. Similarly, the bacon jam was over the top sweet and just didn't work well with the burger. On the other hand, the bun was fresh and had nice flavor. But, it was still a below average burger. On the contrary, the fries were pretty good. To intricate, the fries were thin, crispy, and tasted hand-cut. To finalize, Surfin Betty's offers mediocre burgers, but the fries and mozzarella moons are worth your time. read more

Never ever have I had a better chicken sandwich! Ever. I ordered the Gen Z chicken sandwich. The breading was very light & very crispy and the chicken was amazingly tender & juicy. Not at all greasy. The bacon was also perfectly krispy topped with tomato that actually has flavor. It was perfect. They also serve beet on tap as well as some amazing looking adult milkshakes if that's your thing. First time going with the family and we will definitely be back! It is kind of small inside, but we were able to get a table and two high chairs for the kids. Once we sat down and got our food it was pretty busy. The employees were super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was 10 out of 10!! The onion rings and fries were crispy! I think the Nashville hot chicken could have been spicier, but it was still good with flavor. Music wasn't too loud if there was any. They have a few TVs and the art on the wall was cute. The veggie burger is a $2 upcharge, and it's not a higher quality veggie burger, like Impossible or Beyond brands. But then they give you two patties? I would prefer a better veggie burger with just one patty, and no upcharge. Otherwise, I really like this place. read more

Every bite was flavorful, balanced, and honestly way better than I expected for a beach town spot. The value for the quality is fantastic. The portions are generous, and you can tell they care about what they serve. The fries were fresh, hot, and had that ideal crispy soft balance that keeps you reaching for more. The ambience is great. It has a fun beachy vibe without feeling overly touristy, and it feels like a place where you can sit, relax, and enjoy really good food. Had a great experience here when we stopped in for lunch. My wife and I both ordered the Betty Burger with different customizations. Both burgers arrived exactly as ordered. I thoroughly enjoyed mine. The toppings tasted fresh, especially the tomato slices. The pickles were crisp. My wife was only able to eat half of hers. A junior version with a single patty and reduced toppings might be a nice option in the future. Definitely planning to return to try other items on the menu. read more

Mostly high top tables & chairs not suitable for seniors The food is mediocre at best, the hamburger was just OK, Ocean View Brewery is far superior! The French fries were mostly burnt! I ordered a beer and they only have plastic cups! Who drinks a beer in a plastic cup?? The hot dog came with very little chili, very thing bun and over loaded with cheese, making the hot dog very difficult to eat! A fine hamburger, fixed the way you want it (actually it is two 3 ounce patties). Kind of big, I wish they had a smaller size--I actually cut mine in half and saved part of it. Not ordinary chicken for the sandwich or tenders basket, very hot and crispy, and a good unique taste. Excellent beach-style fries, a little thinner than normal, almost shoestring. And they serve beer and wine too! To be honest, I do like 5 Guys better, but that may be my personal taste. One complaint--see the menu--The Betty Burger costs $15, but you can buy a BYO burger for $14, and add the exact same toppings free--I hope they fix that. read more

Don't let the name fool you - the fried chicken breast sandwiches are the thing to get. I ate one (blanking on the name - perhaps Uncle Eddie's?) with Old Bay cheese, and it was absolutely delicious.
