I love places that give me stuff like that, tasted like a better big mac in taco form. Pretty aiight! They have low reviews which may be based on day and time or meal. They have plenty of servers, place was pretty empty. To be honest, it was not our first pick. Other spots were packed. However, simple menu. Most diners have pages and pages of options. They kept it simple. I was going to get a cinnamon roll but the pic of it looked small so I opted for the generously portioned shrimp and grits. Chunky grit with tons of bacon. Solid number of shrimp too. They weren't blackened, just well seasoned and grilled. My wife got an avocado BLT that came with crisp French fries and fresh bacon. Overall delish. I'd return if other spots were packed. I thought I was going to get my kicks on Route 66, but I was a bit disappointed. After a night out and before heading back to the hotel we wanted to grab some food. Being offseason there aren't many options that stay open later than usual. So you have to pick an choose. When we showed up here there were not many people inside. We parked, walked in, and lead to a booth. Menus were given and we placed our drink order. When you order a drink I swear they give you the biggest glass you can get so that you will not need to ask for a refill. I'm not going to complain on that. The menu is quite extensive, it can take some time to read over. In fact it did take some time to go over, good thing it did because the lack of service was present. When we did finally place our order I went with the Mother Road. Figured since we came to a place called Route 66, might as well pay homage to the namesake burger. Mother Road is an eight ounce beef patty, cooked to your liking. This is then topped with pepper jack cheese, bacon, onion rings, barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion. Served with fries and a pickle rounds out the meal. This wasn't anything to write home about. The toppings really outweighed the burger. In fact, there just were too many toppings. They almost watered down the entire thing. And to put onion rings and raw onion on a burger was a bit much in my opinion. The fries, really bland. You could tell that they were frozen and just put in the fryer. The amount they give you almost makes you overlook that they were fried a bit too much. What was more off-putting here was the staff. While we were eating our food some of the kitchen staff came out to have their meal as well. They were loud and obnoxious. And it wasn't just the kitchen staff, the wait staff chipped in a bit as well. Probably won't come back here as the food and service were just lackluster. read more

Run, don't walk, to this new addition to OC. This is elevated diner food, and we loved everything we tried. Fried zucchini was crisp and hot, w a tangy tomato sauce. The Chicken and Waffle Benny was outstanding. Great flavor combo when eaten together, but each element was delicious on its own. Juicy chicken, perfectly cooked eggs, subtle hollandaise, and that waffle was seriously the best I have ever had. The Route 66 Dream was the perfect traditional breakfast. Again, perfectly cooked eggs, tasty turkey sausage, nicely grilled toast and buttery grits. Service was on point, friendly w just the right amount of attentiveness, and the food arrived quickly. Friend and I had dinner at Route 66 tonight. Restaurant was clean and service was great. My friend had the lasagna, she said it was very good. Large portion w side salad and garlic bread . Place has decent food. It was very empty when we walked in which made me nervous considering we had to wait at every other breakfast place. Then I remembered it was a Monday morning and not everyone is on vacation. We didn't have to wait and our waitress was great! She refilled my husband's coffee constantly and instantly won points. Wife and I had dinner last night 5/31. This place use to be a Dough Roller that we have been to before so we had to see how it was. I had my MD crab soup (red) have to have every trip to OC. Didn't realize how big a 12 ounce bowl is so I ordered a side salad which turned out to be as a regular sized elsewhere. Wife had hash & eggs, breakfast served all day. Between the 3 eggs, hash browns, toast and the hash itself there was enough meat to take back to the room. Food was delicious the Route 66 motorists theme and nostalgia is nice to look at. I had the OC Omelet which was loaded with some Maryland crab and had a good amount of cheese with a perfect egg. But most of all, Route 66 Diner is an honest place, Andrew made it his number one priority to ensure I had a good time. I asked for boneless wings, got bone in. My sister also got wings, and hers were half burnt, and her maryland crab soup had so much tomatoes it practically outweighed everything else, and had little flavor, so she had to add tones of old bat. My grandmother got crab dip, which was fine, but her garlic bread was also like 25% burnt. The drinks were $4 dollars, and my sisters coke didn't even taste like coke, me and her both agreed (she did receive a lemonade in exchange however). Out waiter also was planning on getting a refill for my grandma halfway through, but never did. Besides that, I did get a milkshake which was good. We visited this establishment for breakfast on Sunday, June 23. This restaurant is in a building formerly housing a Dough Roller Pizza place. The interior remains pretty much unchanged, except for some Highway and hot rod themed murals around the top of the walls. Nothing special or objectionable there. We ordered four different breakfasts, two typical egg platters, a short stack of pancakes, and a serving of creamed chipped beef. Everyone was satisfied with their meals, although my wife reported that her pancakes were "tough." Perhaps they were a bit over cooked? But not to the point of being inedible! Our server, whose name, if given, was soon forgotten, was attentive and efficient. No complaints there. In summary, I'd say that this place was on a par with any of a dozen other places we could have chosen for breakfast. We went here for brunch and didn't expect much based on their star rating but it was close so figured we'd give it a shot. They advertise breakfast sandwiches on their digital billboard outside, so imagine my husband's disappointment when their menu does not have breakfast sandwiches on it. I asked the waitress if they had breakfast sandwiches and she said no. I ordered everything Al a carte to make my husband his breakfast sandwich and somehow they did manage to bring it out already assembled. I also ordered toast and bacon which they mistook to mean I wanted a bacon sandwich, but no biggie I disassembled it. My bacon and toast were both cold but I didn't feel confident in sending it back. They also gave my husband sweet tea when he ordered unsweetened but gave our friend unsweetened so it couldn't have been a misunderstanding. We walked in and was seated immediately no surprise there it was empty not a lot of people were there and we got our menus the waitress took our drink orders. When we ordered our drinks she asked if we wanted our coffee hot and that was a red flag from the start. Then when she came back and we got all of our drinks the coffee was luke warm it was not even hot. Then she took our orders and we thought that we could order off the lunch menu because it 11:02 and then she came back and told us that the cooks were not making lunch they were only making breakfast. So me and two other people had to re order our meal because they were not serving lunch till after 12. Then we ordered our food and everything came out except the fruit plate that we got and it's pretty hard to mess up fruit you don't have to cook it. One of our people that was with us had to get up twice to get the waitress because they were playing just dance behind the counter. They told us that the fruit was bad so that's why it took so long but i don't believe them. When we ordered something that came with home fries they told us that they don't have home fries which was another red flag that this place is not good and the hash tasted very mushy it was not even crispy. I ordered pancakes with hash and i didn't get any syrup or butter for my pancakes so we had to go up and ask them for some. The decor was cool but the service was not and the vibe of that place felt very off. My friend got a hash bowl and it came with just bacon and scrambled eggs but NO HASH and my friend got VERY UPSET and the people that were there before us left because the waitress didn't come back. Visited the ocean city location on 6/8 about 9:30 pm. Upon entering, it seemed like we were bothering the staff by being there. Finally we were seated, mind you, there was only one other person in the restaurant. Ordered our drinks , mine was coffee and arrived like warm. Placed our appetizer and then food. Pizza arrived and was a major disappointment . It looked like those dollar boxes pizzas, burger was at its best just ok, needed some seasoning. Asked for a coffee refill, again like warm. Ask for bill and saw Gratuity of 35.00 was added. And a 3% up charge because I used my credit card. Major rip off. We were torn between the seafood Buffett next door and this place.
