Ambiance was nice but service was not great for our group of six. We started by ordering drinks and four appetizers. Four of the five drinks arrived, then the appetizers came. Our server never checked on us so we couldn't inquire about the missing drink. We ate all of the appetizers with our menus still on the table because he didn't come back to take our dinner order until we had eaten all of the appetizers and had to flag down someone else to ask if we could place our entree order. Have never had that happen at any dining establishment let alone a higher end restaurant like Surfing Deer! It took a long time for the entrees to arrive and to get our drink order corrected. The original adult mocktail was given to one of the kids and it was unclear that it was her kids drink that was never brought to the table. Our truffle fries were cold, the pad Thai was chewy and oddly salty. Those things could have been overlooked but we just felt overall that we weren't really being cared for at the table so we skipped dessert. It was a very disappointing experience. Food wise: --Hushpuppies 3/5 just standard nothing special --Brussel sprouts 4/5 good but oily and small portion --clothes hanger bacon 4/5 for flavor and presentation. Rosemary torched at the table was odd bc it didn't flavor the bacon it just made smoke go everywhere --surfing deer chicken nugs 5/5 like an elevated chick fil a nugget with a delicious slaw --Seafood acadania: 5/5 delicious --Fish of the day: 4/5 small ish portion but good --Pesto pappardelle: 4/5 good but a bit chewy --Pad Thai: 2/5 what was that even? very chewy noodles with super salty sauce. Not even a relative of pad Thai --Kids petite filet mignon 4/5 super good but fries were cold and 22.00 for a tiny steak

We went to Surfing Deer on a Thursday night in the middle of busy season on 30A! It was packed. We were sat at a tiny table for 2 less than 2 feet from the entrance to the kitchen. It was so loud between the kitchen noise and noise from other guests (not surfing deer's fault), we immediately asked to move. Our only other choice was to sit at a high table in the bar, so we did. Our service wasn't very good. We had eaten 3 of our appetizers before our glasses of wine came. The food came out pretty quickly. Everything was very tasty. We would rate every dish between 8-9/10. It's a good elevated dining experience on 30A and we would definitely come back

Amazing! To start we got a table on the patio but the hosts were able to accommodate us inside! Then we sat down and were immediately greeted with cold water (which we never got low on water all night). The best part was our server Megan. She was able to recommend the most amazing items! She was always there to check up on us and make sure we had everything we needed and was SUPER friendly. At the end after we had already gotten up she noticed us taking pictures and offered to take one of us and she did! Love her! Not to mention the amazing atmosphere with the dim lighting and even the water features outside. Amazing dining experience and will 100% be returning!

Food and service were great! Unfortunately I don't remember our servers name but he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He helped my husband out with gluten and dairy allergies and took them seriously. I had the pesto pasta which was good, but definitely on the lighter side for a pasta dish. It wasn't very creamy. The outside seating area was very nice. We will return if ever back in the area!

The Ambiance was wonderful and our server was very attentive! Our drinks were never left empty. I highly recommend the crab cakes. They were absolutely phenomenal! It was a great experience overall and I would totally go again!

We came here for a quick dinner and a few drinks. The drink menu had something for everyone and the flavors were unreal. I ordered a strawberry cocktail and he fig and the bee and both were delicious. We started the meal with the fried oysters elite and the chilled jumbo shrimp. The fried oysters had a corn salsa that really brought out the flavor. The jumbo chilled shrimp were good, but the sauce it came with was amazing. It had an orange flavor to it with a lot of kick with the horseradish. We ordered the seafood acadiana and the daily boat catch which was amazing. The food and flavor was delicious and the bartenders were quick and very nice. Amazing place!

Surfing Deer is such a beautiful restaurant -- open, airy, and full of charm. The bar area is stunning with deer statues and a really sweet backstory about a man and his pet deer that adds a special touch to the vibe. We weren't super hungry, so we ordered a few things to share. The hushpuppies and bread rolls were both really good. I had the chicken soup, it was very flavorful and the summer panzanella burrata salad -- both were fresh and delicious. My husband had the filet of beef tenderloin, and unfortunately, it didn't impress. The sides were better than the main -- overall, we both felt the menu was kind of limited and didn't blow us away. The service was great. Everyone was kind and attentive, and the whole place just has a lovely atmosphere.

We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The staff were extremely attentive without being obtrusive. Our waiter explained the dishes with detail and fun anecdotes to go with. My daughter and I had the Filet and both were cooked to perfection. My wife and son had the Berkshire Pork Chop and they raved about their meals. Of note, we ordered the skillet cornbread and crispy Brussel sprouts as appetizers and both were delicious. I would highly recommend the Surfing Deer to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in the area.

Service was great, we made a reservation & sat on the patio. Food was so so good, we had the fresh fish & steak entrees but came for the Meatloaf Cupcake which were amazing. Our server Patrick did an amazing job & we will come back & visit our next trip.

Elegant design, amazing ambiance, service was good, the food was delicious as well. The location is great on the main road and you can peek through the buildings and even see the ocean. The bar looks great for an early happy hour drink. We really enjoyed it. Definitely try to make reservations ahead of time especially since they don't open until 4:30 PM.

The food was absolutely amazing! We had the Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly! My wife had the Chipotle Honey Salmon and I had the Bone-In Pork Chop. Both entrees were excellent however the Pork Chop may have been one of the best I have ever had. Our water waiter was very knowledgeable and our service waiter seemed to not have all the answers however that did not spoil the night! Great atmosphere on the patio! We had a great table! This is a great place to eat while in 30A!

What a lovely dining experience we had here! We sat on the patio and from start to finish, were well taken care of. The food and drinks were absolutely on point in quality and flavor. I had the grouper which was delicious and I am not normally a fish person! My friend had the salmon, the other friend had the pesto with shrimp and they were incredibly happy with their meals. Save room for dessert as the options are amazing! We went with this chocolate bar on recommendation of our server and it was SCRUMPTIOUS! Complimentary valet parking, and I picked up a hat on my way out. Thank you Derrick for taking great care of us!

I enjoyed the food. Ordered the burrata salad which I highly recommend. Chef special soup= shrimp chowder really good as well. Surf berry sour martini delicious. Bambi tini drink would not recommend, very strong where it wasn't even drinkable. Brussel sprouts super good. Banana cheesecake & skillet cookie chef kiss. Overall, great experience it's definitely on the pricier end and they put a NCA fee if you don't use cash which was annoying.

From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like we were old friends, so warm, so welcoming, and genuinely fun to be around. We were laughing and enjoying ourselves before the food even hit the table. We sat outside with low lighting, soft live music in the background, and the most perfect relaxed atmosphere. The music was lowkey but so good, it added to the experience without taking over. And the food... wow. The wedge salad with the fish of the day was fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. Came out tasting fishy and not fresh. Sent it back after trying two, just to make sure the first one wasn't off. Sent it back and they said they took half off the charge for the crabs. I let them know that was unacceptable and I wanted to remove my entree from being made. They came back and said they took the whole cost off, but it's what should have been done from the beginning. I still didn't get my entree. I completely understand that it could have just been a bad batch, but ingredient issues are the problem of the restaurant and not the customer. Fried pickles were breaded in corn meal. They were crispy and tasty. Son got the spaghetti (linguine noodles) off the kids menu. Said he didn't like it because it had a weird texture. I tried it and the noodles were over cooked. Sent it back to be remade. Came back a little over again. He ended up not eating it. My wife got the triple tail (blackened) from the catch of the day. It came covered in a remoulaude, with green beans and a garlic mashed potatoes. She loved her entire meal. My daughter got the fried shrimp with a side of fries. Fries were perfectly crispy but a little under seasoned. Fried shrimp was crispy and seasoned well. She enjoyed her meal. (Son also approved of the meal as he ate some of hers due to not liking his food.) Slight off smell when you walk in, but it fades quickly. (Could just be a me issue as I am hyper sensitive to smells.) Lights dimmed to give a nice ambiance, but then they sit you in hard metal chairs. Kind of confused as to what they are trying to be. Michael was a decent server. Really disappointed because I wanted this to be a great experience.

It had a nice kick to it, was full of flavor, and the $10 cup was a generous portion. My partner and I both ordered a cup, and it was easily the best thing we ate. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill. We split the fried redfish basket, and for what it cost, it felt almost criminal. There wasn't a price listed, so getting the bill was a shock (especially because all the other baskets were $30). The fish itself was decent quality, but the breading was heavy, bland, and overwhelmed the redfish. The curly fries were unique, but they left both of us feeling greasy and weighed down afterward. Service was mixed. The hostesses were friendly and welcoming, and our server was pleasant as well, though it felt like there was a strong push to upsell throughout the meal. In the end, two cups of gumbo, one fried fish basket to share, and our total came to $85 including taxes and tip. Considering the quality of the fried basket, the value just wasn't there. If the fish basket alone was around $50, that price is hard to justify. It felt more like a money grab aimed at visitors than a restaurant focused on earning repeat local customers.
