I've waited a while before posting this review because I wanted to be fair and separate the emotions surrounding our visit from the actual experience. The first day we stopped in, the drink machine was being replaced and the restaurant wasn't open. That was completely understandable. What was disappointing was the attitude we received from the young staff when we simply asked when they expected to reopen. We got the typical "I don't know" response, and when we tried asking a couple of follow-up questions for clarification, they seemed annoyed and really weren't interested in helping. We aren't from the area and had specifically made the trip over because of what this place meant to my mom. We figured the first experience was just an off moment, so we came back the next day when they were open. Unfortunately, the same general attitude from the young staff carried over and really took away from the experience. The food itself wasn't the problem--it was the lack of friendliness, hospitality, and basic customer service. Of course, they had no way of knowing why we were there, and we certainly didn't expect or feel the need to explain that we had just buried our mom. But that's also the point: you never really know why someone has walked through your door or what that visit might mean to them. I wish our experience had been different, especially because Cosentino's held such good memories for our family and for my mom. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to those memories. Food is good.....

My recommendation is to carefully read and choose toppings you know you'd enjoy for sure. While I enjoyed the round pizzas, I did not like the umami mushroom as much (maybe because I don't love and didn't realize there would be sesame seeds on pizza). The champion was a classic and the smoky vodka was delicious! The square pizza was fluffy, but not too doughy where it felt like I was just straight up eating bread. The side of ranch is here is also a must if you usually like dipping your pizza. Overall--great ambiance, excellent service, and excellent food. Would come back!

So yummy and satisfied all the carb cravings and it was located in such beautiful scenery :) Only giving it 4 stars cause it's not one of the best pizza I ever had but it does the job!

This is one of the worst places I've gone to! So I called in to order and they guy taking my order made me repeat everything I said several times and I only ordered 3 items then they said it was going to be a 20-30 minute wait when I went in to get my pizza I wasn't helped for 5 minutes then they made me wait another 20 minutes cause they forgot an item of my order then when I get home the pizza was cold and the cheese wasn't melted! They forgot another item I ordered, so I only got 2 of the things I ordered. They didn't give me what I ordered , they wasted my time and money. This is on the top of the worst pizza places ever! Don not eat here! The pizza wasn't cooked and they messed up my order and are not time efficient! read more

I had the pleasure of trying a pizza recently, and I must say, it was a delight. The cheese was wonderfully gooey, and the crust had a perfect balance of crispiness and chewiness. I was thoroughly impressed. However, I do have one small critique. The sauce, unfortunately, was a bit too light for my liking. It lacked the boldness and tanginess that I typically look for in a pizza sauce. Despite this, I would still rate the overall experience an 8 out of 10. Surfside Pizza is literally the best pizza in Orange County hands down. And let me tell ya, their customer service is next level. Ken, the owner, is always hanging around, making sure everyone's happy. And he's all about supporting the locals & the community. He just spruced up the place too, new paint job, some rad local surf art--it's like a whole vibe now, you gotta check it out! I've been to quite a few pizza places and this pie is awesome pizza: My go to favorite sausage and pepperoni, plenty of mozzarella cheese and the pizza sauce was great. I asked and they said they make sauce themselves. My girlfriend tried their gluten free cauliflower crust with vegan cheese and she loved it. I have to admit they have splendid friendly customer service too boot. It makes for a great experience to enjoy your food even more. read more

Just had their Calzone. Wow, enough for two people! Best calzones in South Orange County! The place has a cool vibe. The owner seems motivated to make this place successful. Pizza there is outstanding and affordable. The crust/sauce is homemade and amazing. Great location near the beach just off PCH/bike trail in San Clemente. it is 1/4 mi off PCH so it a bit hidden in a strip mall but worth the detour. read more

My toddler loved them and they were better than both the pizza and calzone. And properly cooked. This is the only reason they get 2 stars. I suspect this place is having growing pains. We took three pizzas home, The Pig, Root, and Black Garlic. Because the pizzas are thick, they keep and warm up very well. Maybe even better than fresh if you do it right and in the oven. The pig was good. Again, not enough meat. Root was okay and lacked depth and any noticeable mushroom flavor. Black garlic was amazing. Even though they call it a cheese bread and it's in the sides section, it's the same size as the pizza and really feels like a pizza.

Being friendly, we said "sure, no problem!". Shortly after, Marc came over and asked if our chairs had been taken and we let them know that the group next to us asked for them. In response, with deep condescension he responded "No, that isn't okay we have a lot of people waiting", which we understood but we also don't work there and aren't going to be rude to fellow patrons. He then told the group next to us he needed the chairs back only to not actually use said chairs for seated guests. It left all of us very confused for the unnecessary interaction. About 15 minutes later, my husband was looking for our server to order another drink and close out, when Marc came up and told us he needed the table. Mind you, we took time out of our evening to get there early for the game (as did everyone else that evening) and there was no signage nor a heads up from the team onsite that there was a limit on the tables, especially as we weren't the only people there for the very same reason. We had been there about 1.5 hours at that point and there was only a little bit left in the game. The group next to us who had also been there the entire time, and got sat before we did, weren't told they needed to get up, but we were given the third degree for our two spots. When my husband asked if he could get that next drink, Marc responded "I don't take orders" and walked away. Our server then proceeded to not check on us for an additional 20 minutes (we were trying to close out as requested), which ironically made it so we took up their table for the remainder of the game. He also mentioned that he ran into a similar issue with guests the previous week for the game, which sounds to me like an opportunity for better problem-solving skills and coaching amongst the team, not a customer-issue. All of this, only for there to be NO wait when we left AND open tables. Being that my husband and I are both in hospitality management, we were extremely frustrated by the lack of respect and embarrassing customer service by none other than Marc Sullivan, a co-owner of Homeslice. I think it's a bare minimum ask that the management and ownership, have the same decency and respect for paying customers that they expect of the rest of their service staff. By the time we got to our car it was 7pm and hadn't even been two full hours, all for our table to not even be needed. Totally understand it being a busy night but highly recommend that the team game plan better rather than making it the customers' responsibility to highlight where this situation could have been improved. Really bummed to have this experience as we're DP locals and love coming to eat/drink here!
