The taxidermy is beautiful, and I had no idea they would actually have live fish inside their building. It's a remarkable establishment. It felt like a football field inside. This is definitely THE place for outdoor enthusiasts and folks who fish, hunt, camp, and so on. They have BOGO 40% Costa sunglasses. I ended up getting a 3-piece utility box crate. Customer service was standard, but I was mostly taken away by the beauty of nature, and of course, I had to donate to the conservation fund. I'll have to do more research on what entails, but there is so much to dive through and explore here.

Internally it has a very high ceiling and a large selection of items to look at. They also had some taxidermied animals which were cute and an aquarium with some freshwater fish in it. The other members of my party were not impressed. Despite needing to only shop for one item we kept getting hounded by irrelevant sales pitches for items we did not need, including vacations. They did not have what we needed in stock so we left without buying anything. Not surprisingly this just resulted in the other members of my party asking to borrow my clothes. It would have been nice if it was in stock here. I might come back if I want a plushie. They had a North American animal I liked in the relatively large plushie section, but the other members of my party were not impressed with.

Over the years, I have only placed orders through the REI website (w/ my Lifetime Membership), but…read morethe past couple of months, I have had more miss than hits with my orders and felt like I had been spending way too much of my gift card money on return costs than keeping the actual products. I know there is a REI in Arcadia but I rarely visit that area these days. A Friend recommended this location over the Arcadia one, as it is bigger and it was perfect because it happened to be on my route one day. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and was able to return my online order quickly. The cashier was very kind and the return was quick. I never used the product, the sizing was just way off, even though I had followed the product's website video guide. When I visited, it just so happened to be Member Days so I took a look around. This location certainly has "everything." It feels rare to have a fully stocked store these days. Since I did not need anything at the moment, I plan on stopping by again in a few months when I have an idea of what to use my gift cards on. There were employees throughout the store and they often greeted me and asked if I needed help. Great customer service! There was also restrooms for customers to use. There was plenty of parking in shopping center and overall, had a great first experience.

EVA and manager AARON falsely accused me of returning the wrong item, even though the item matched my REI account, app, original tags, barcode, and product details. They made this accusation in front of my family and other customers, which was very embarrassing. I asked them a simple question: "What exactly is different?" They refused to answer. That tells me they had no real answer. They accused me first, then avoided explaining their own accusation. While EVA was still processing the return, AARON told me to leave and threatened security for no valid reason. After all that, they still processed the return. So the item was correct all along. This was a false accusation, poor judgment, zero accountability, and terrible management. REI leadership should review this incident seriously.

This new location in the Orangefair Mall is much nicer, spacious, and feels a lot bigger and organized than the old store. I was greeted immediately upon entry and was asked if I needed help finding anything. I actually did ask for help finding my items and she pointed out that the energy gels and chemical hand warmer packs were right up by the front register. I was in and out in only a few minutes. Big 5 also always has coupons, just look on their website or you can sign up for their email newsletter and receive a 10% off coupon instantly. She asked if I could stop by Target on the way to the park but I said, "No! We're boycotting Target!" and I went with the next best thing, BIg 5. I called to check and see if they sold kites and the guy that answered said, "Tights? Yeah we sell tights. Like workout..." and I interjected and yelled, "KITES not TIGHTS! KITES!! The thing that you fly at the park!" and he said, yes they sold kites. I arrived 5 minutes later and was greeted by one of the male employees who asked, "Hi, can we help you find anything?" and I said, "Yes, kites please," and he said, "Oh yeah, tights are right over ..." and I yelled, "KITES!! NOT TIGHTS!" He laughed and directed me to the kites. I ended up buying some Velcro mitt with a tennis ball and a cool pink frisbee as well. I think I paid around $20. No line, not crowded, fully stocked, tons of parking and the best employees!
