Wow after 20 yrs plus this place still packs them in for breakfast. Don't be discouraged if you see a full parking lot, it's mostly the ole timers in here drinking their coffee. So ever time I've eaten here it's good stuff, love the biscuits and sausage gravy and thick cut bacon is always a hit. Great cinnamon buns !!!!!! On our road trip we made a detour to visit our friend's sister who recently moved to Arkansas and took her out for breakfast at Susan's Restaurant before she went off to work. The waitresses and hostess's were all extrememly friendly and conversive. Like many states we've visited of course we got some stares from fellow customers eating near by (nothing we can do about that) We didn't really mind it here as the staff was really great. We ordered our food and i ordered the "getcha by" with 2 sunny side up eggs toast and grits as i wasn't that hungry. Everything was plated and tasted great just like how it should. The prices are also really great with my meal being $4. If i lived here i'd probably be a regular. During our meal one of the hostess asked about my Raiders beanie and where she could purchase one and i told her she can order it on Amazon. When we were leaving she explained that her son was a die heart Raiders fan and she wanted to get him something for christmas. We laughed and chit chatted a little before we headed back on the road. When we walked in they said the wait was 20-35 minutes, we said we'd be okay sitting at the bar and we got sat in no more than 10, id say closer to 5 minutes. i got the western platter with hash browns, grilled chicken, peppers, onions, and red salsa. it was a bit bland, needed salt and pepper but was great with the biscuits and gravy. i stacked everything on the biscuit. service was good, didn't know we were supposed to pay up front, all and all was pretty good. read more

I came to Northwest Arkansas with a mind set that I would only visit a restaurant only once during my yearly visit. This way I can say I sucked the marrow out of the NWA bone. But, it's difficult to do so when you have a great breakfast place like Susan's. They have the local South favorites like country fried chicken steak and Biscuits and Gravy and pancakes that seem to float on the way to the table. Each server has a unique southern character that makes you want to ask if they want to have you join your table. It gets absolutely packed in here during the weekends due to its popularity but it's worth the wait; you'll be able to walk out happy, full and wanting to come back. read more

Ok, too much food the price! Service was to attentive and courteous, the place was full but still was able to find a spot. I couldn't eat here every day because I would no longer enjoy Mom's home cooking and I would weigh a couple hundred pounds more than I do now. Susan's was a staple while growing up in what was then, the tiny town of Springdale. I remember the sign and a strange decal version of who I assumed was Susan on the outside. I couldn't remember eating there as a kid but it seemed so familiar. So after what may be over 20 years, I decided to go with a good friend of mine. The place was packed and it was only the pre-church crowd! When you walk in, it is a nice cross-cut of the diverse Springdale population. A few minutes in, I realized that I had definitely been there as a teenager. Nothing had changed. The carpeted floor and the wood panelling were all the same. What is even more memorable were the people. Everyone was very friendly and that is why this place is getting 4 stars from me. The food is your traditional breakfast food which for a 13 year old vegetarian, made it difficult since my only options all had either bacon, sausage, or bacon grease. I was pleasantly surprised that the special of the day was a rather delicious veggie omelet with feta. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Susan's and it brought back that feeling of home. On the way out, I even bought some Tontitown-made pasta! read more

My family enjoys our visits to Susan's. There's always a big line on Sunday but the line moves quickly. It's worth the wait. The fruit bowl has a nice variety and is very fresh. Everything I've eaten has been hot and well made. They have "famous cinnamon rolls" but they are actually huge,hot, glazed honey buns. The breakfasts are spectacular and the lunch plates too. I've had their turkey dinner and the dressing was so good I wanted a double serving! Also they have freshly carved turkey and REAL mashed potatoes. Rolls and biscuits are a must! Judging by the wait times, you could tell this is a popular establishment. Pricing is reasonable and the food we ordered was first rate. The friendly servers at this well established restaurant make this a safe bet for comfort food. The parking lot was 99% full when we went but the wait was only 10 minutes which would be much better than an ihop where the wait times can easily go over 20 minutes.. Omeletes were NOT super sized but did come with 2 sides so you'll get full. The pancakes are a must try since they are very fluffy and the cinnamon buns are sweet and large. Gravy for the biscuits was peppery yet a tad bland but nothing a dash of salt won't solve. The sausage patties were fairly lean and didn't leave a greasy mess. I do plan on returning to this place for lunch one day to sample some of the lunch offerings. read more

First time to this iconic landmark. Have tried before and long waits. Parking lot was full this time but still had a few tables. Seated immediately and server was prompt. Ordered a hot chocolate and the California omelet- avocado, bacon, tomatoes, onions, cheese and salsa. Comes with a choice of hash browns or grits and choice of toast or biscuit and gravy. I chose hash browns - deep fried and the biscuit and gravy. Served timely. The omelet was good but the inside needed to be cooked a bit longer and the avocado was hard as not ripened. The hash browns were very good crispy be deep fried! The biscuit and gravy were good as well. The service was very attentive and came by checking on the table several times. I am not an Arkansan, so I'm sure all my fellow non- Arkansans can relate when I say that Susan's is exactly what I picture a diner in AR to feel like. It has carpeted floors, smiling senior citizens with their families and is packed on the weekends, especially for Sunday brunch or breakfast. Expect a 30-40 minute wait, so don't come starving or you'll be hangry real quick! The portions are HUGE here. I got the chicken fried steak which came with THREE sides and was under $10. It's big enough to share.. and I'm a girl who likes to eat! There cinnamon rolls are also HUGE here- as big as a dinner plate. So it was a lazy saturday morning and we decided to get breakfast. New to town and was not sure wehre we should go. I checked yelp and saw that Susan's was the best place but there could be a wait. I asked my friend if we should wait in line for the best place or go to the second best place. We both said together, best place.... and so thats how we ended up at Susans. Really we hardly had to wait. We were seated in no time (probably cause we went in late). Got coffee and looked for the specials. The chicken and waffle caught my eye and thats what I ordered. My friend got some omlette. I didnt hear the order and the conversation was about other breakfast places we had been to. I promise that I still dont know what my friend ordered cause I really didnt care. The moment I got my chicken and waffles, I was voraciously eating my food. Yes. I stopped talking. So why the 4 stars instead of 5? I felt that the chicken piece was too small. I wanted a bigger chicken piece. So there. Over all, one of the best breakfast places I have been to. read more

Great warm professional service- everything's always fresh and consistently good. Breakfast is yummy. Chicken fried chicken & steak are standouts! Chicken Parmesan is GREAT. Only gripe is noodles are always a bit overcooked. (But diners usually overcook their noodles.) Pecan pie is a must! A MUST! Have them warm it up just a touch. Love the tropical salad side. Refreshing! Skip the burger. And fries are always limp. (They need to blanch them, then fry a second time for service so they are crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle!) Went here on a friend's recommendation. The ladies working were very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Food was great. Got eggs and they were cooked at over medium perfectly. My breakfast was ready sooooo fast. Couldn't have been more than three minutes. I went on a Thursday morning about 7am. No wait, but it definitely started filling up. Lots of regulars you could tell.
