Looking at older reviews, it seems like this spot used to be more of a takeout only vibe, but when I came, it was just a regular sit-down restaurant. Restaurant is pretty small and unassuming from the outside with only a handful of tables inside for dining, but luckily we were seated right away on a Saturday evening. Would definitely look into reservations if you have a larger party. We shared the bluefin chutoro nigiri, seafood don, and ume set. Bluefin chutoro nigiri was very fresh and high quality with a good balance of lean and fatty parts. Seafood don was fantastic - extremely fresh, generous thick portions of fish, good variety, and rice had good sticky texture and flavor. Ume set was ok, none of the nigiri stood out to me that much and same for the salmon rolls. Prices are on the steeper end but I think they're fairly reasonable given the high quality here. If I return, I'd love to try more of their other donburi options!
i was recommended to this place by a friend since when it comes to sushi i am a nigiri person. Their $30 lunch special set includes a miso soup, edamame, sashimi& nigiri set, and a matcha pudding dessert. Miso soup: 5/5. Super flavorful, has mushroom and fried tofu skin in it. Salted Edamames: 3/5 Very standard. Sashimi & Nigiri set: 4/5 i loved how fresh and high quality the fishes are. Definitely fresher and higher quality than other sushi restaurants. However, the shrimp was tough and dry, sushi rice was bland and hard :( Matcha dessert: 5/5 creamy and delicious! not too sweet and matcha wasn't overpowering. It's a small restaurant but doesn't feel cramped. Service was fast and friendly too. Will be back to try their sashimi soon!
We made a reservation to celebrate my friend's birthday, and we had a fabulous time! Inside was fairly small - 2 high-top tables, 5 tables, and 4 seats of window/bar seating. Everything there was fresh and high-quality. There was only one server but she was attentive and had excellent service. They offer Omakase (two different courses) but would need to make a reservation for that. They also have happy hour every day from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Overall - it's a great place for celebrations, a date spot, or a casual dinner. The price is on the higher side but its premium ingredients were worth the buck. Wagyu Nigiri - Long slices and delicious Uni - Creamy, rich, so FRESH. Sashimi Moriawase Set (16 pieces) - akami, toro, sake, hamachi, madai, amaebi, hotate, ikura. Beautiful set and we enjoyed every piece of it.
Food is delicious and service is great! Came here on a weekday and even then it was pretty busy! The current store space is pretty small, so exited to hear they are moving to another location. Their salmon is really fresh and I enjoyed their wasabi as well! My bf got the beef bowl and it tasted soo comforting and delicious. Though, I do think their portion size runs a bit small. Service was also super attentive and helped seat us very fast. I'd definitely recommend this place!
This is your better than casual sushi spot but under a traditional high priced omakase spot. The quality and pricing is between these two tiers. So it's not cheap cheap but the quality reflects that. You can really taste the freshness and authenticity of the restaurant. You won't find a ton of rolls here. That being said you can def find some fairly good value picks on the menu. The matsu set is $53/8 pieces which is solid. You might say hey I've seen amami do $46/10 pieces... and they're solid too but Id give the nod on quality to this spot. All the tuna even the akami was really good. The scallops were amazing as well. I also recommend the aburi trio. The oyako don (chicken egg rice bowl) and the wagyu sukiyaki don were also great savory warm dishes for the last part of the meal. Everything was legit and the lady serving us was on point as well. You can taste the freshness/quality was a small step but still a noticeable step above from other sushi restaurants of the same tier I do hope this place lasts since it's honestly really good but the location makes it hard to find and there's not much traffic Overall, def will be back and this might end up being my go-to for quality sushi without breaking the bank too hard
Finally, I got to check this out for dinner on a Thursday night, and it also happened to be hour hour. Their HH for drinks is every day from 4:30-6:30pm. Their HH for food is from 4:30-6pm. From the HH menu, the kamachi kama was so good when it came out. I highly recommend this dish. For the HH drinks, we ordered the amabuki special junmai, which was very smooth to drink. Between 2 people, we ordered the 16 piece sashimi set to share, which was plenty. Every piece we had was delicious. It came with fresh wasabi and the plate itself was esthetically pleasing. The service was great and very attentive. Our cup of tea was continuously filled up. This spot would definitely be great for a date night. Parking can be a bit tough for this plaza, especially on the weekends. Overall, this spot is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for high quality, Japanese food and a fun time with happy hour!
My second time here and their quality is consistently good! I had lunch special, that come with edamame, miso soup, 7 pieces of sushi & sashimi and desert! Very good value! Their sashimi was very fresh! Even their miso soup had a generous amount of stuff in it (mushroom etc). Our server was also very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is a bit hard to find as exterior is black & hidden underneath the other restaurants but you won't be disappointed!
Great new sushi restaurant! Stephanie is a fantastic member of the staff. She knew the menu like the back of her hand, helped us choose and was very patient and mindful throughout our meal. Sushi Lunch Combo 10/10: At just $30, we got 7 beautifully crafted nigiri, assorted sashimi, edamame, miso soup, and a delicious matcha pudding dessert. Fish choice was rather generous, I remember seeing hamachi, salmon, tuna (possibly toro?) and a nice plate overall. Spicy Tuna Roll: 9/10: Very nice balance of flavors and fresh fish! Attentive service and great fish! We came here an hour before closing on a weekday night and tried a variety of things between two people: the tuna shogun set, spicy bluefin tuna roll, salmon roll, and salmon nigiri. I honestly recommend all of them, especially the tuna shogun set with the different cuts of tuna and different levels of fattiness. The nigiris also had a good ratio of sushi rice to fish. We had the standard soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi. Price wise, it's a little high but the sushi is so fresh and delicious that it's worth it. The restaurant is small, so I'd assume there would be a wait when they're busier. I look forward to coming back for more!
I LOVE SUSHI ADACHI!! I booked a reservation online for my boyfriends birthday. We ended up coming early and they were able to accommodate us. This place is located in a plaza with other restaurants so there was tons of parking. We came around 5:45pm on a Sunday and they had a few people. By 6pm, it was only us so it felt like a private dining experience! I have to say the service here was impecable. They were super attentive and kind. They comped a beer and dessert for my bfs birthday. As for the food, we ordered the spicy blue fin tuna roll and the omakase set. The fish was SO fresh and yummy. You can tell it was good quality fish. I want to come back and try their actual omakase dining experience next!
If you're in Milpitas and craving sushi, Sushi Adachi is the spot. The vibe here is super cozy -- nothing pretentious, just good energy, friendly staff, and food that actually makes you stop mid-bite like, "dang, this is fresh." We pulled up and tried a few things: * Aburi plate - fireee, literally. Perfect char, buttery texture, melts in your mouth. * Chutoro Hana Don - rich and fatty in the best way, balanced perfectly with the rice. * Poke Don - super fresh, clean flavors, not heavy at all. * Matcha Panna Cotta (x2) - lowkey my favorite part, creamy and not overly sweet. * Yuzu + Lychee drinks - refreshing, perfect for cutting through the richness of the fish. You can tell the chefs here really care about the details -- the rice is seasoned just right with that sweet-vinegary balance, and the quality of the fish speaks for itself. Knowing Chef Adachi's background and legacy, you definitely feel that passion passed down here. Overall, it's one of those spots where you can roll through with friends, a date, or even solo at the bar and just vibe out. Left with a full stomach, happy taste buds, and already thinking about when I'll be back.
Came here last night and it was pretty good but not outstanding. Their omakase set is not bad, i really like the roll - as it was creamy and rich in texture. It was so nice of the chef to include a salmon piece for us to try, cut in half too! The spicy bluefin tuna toll is good too. We also had something else but I cant remember the name.
I've had this place bookmarked since they opened. I finally got the chance to check them out The place is much smaller than I had imagined. It was a Thursday night, so luckily it wasn't busy at all. we were the only diners the entire time. Fish tasted very fresh. They have some of the typical fish offerings plus some specials. We ordered the Take set, Special Fish tasting, unagi nigiri, and the Nigihama roll. I was disappointed that they didn't have all the fish offerings available for the tasting, but they subbed them with similar valued fish. The roll has 5 pieces, which is a small roll for $16. I loved it tho because it wasn't covered in sauce! The unagi was amazing. It was grilled with no sauce! So different from the typical. Overall, everything was great although pricey. I have to remember that the fish is imported, which is probably why they have so many items out of stock on their menu. I think that's a bit of a bummer since that's their selling point, hence the 4-star rating. I'll probably come back again though to try their sake flight with my sushi.
If you are craving sushi / sashimi and want high quality cuts of fish, look no further than Sushi Adachi! According to chef Ronny, all of their fish is imported directly from Japan. You can really taste the difference, the fish is extremely fresh and melts in your mouth. My husband and I had such a delightful dining experience today. Shoutout to our server Stephanie for playing us some K-pop music (since we were the only ones dining in for lunch). For dessert, we shared a matcha pudding. The flavor is light, creamy, and very unique! Sushi Adachi is truly a hidden gem in this plaza. Next time you pass it, don't hesitate and give it a try! This is one of my and my boyfriend's favorite sushi restaurants in the Bay Area! Absolutely delicious food, high quality fresh fish, excellent presentation, and always exceptional service. * Summer special salad: 5/5 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is an elevated take on seaweed salad. All the elements of the salad complemented each other in flavor and texture. It's also a generous portion and very beautifully presented. My boyfriend and I are not usually salad lovers, but we absolutely loved this. * Salmon ikura don: 5/5 The rice was nicely seasoned and had the perfect fluffy, slightly chewy texture. Salmon was immaculately sliced so that each piece was even and consistent, and it was notably fresh. The ikura added a pleasant briny flavor. * Spicy bluefin tuna roll: 5/5 The tuna was so good! All the fish at Adachi is of the best quality. You can taste the freshness as well as see the skill used to slice and present the fish. The spicy mayo on this roll tasted homemade and added a nice creaminess without being overpowering. * Salmon avocado roll: 5/5 We ordered this to get more of their salmon because it was so good. Though this roll is very simple, the rice, salmon, and avocado were carefully prepared and tasted amazing together. The ginger and wasabi here is also better than many sushi restaurants I've been to in the Bay. The wasabi seems to be real grated wasabi rather than wasabi paste. In same shopping center as Koi Palace Milpitas. Very high quality fish. Better than most sit down sushi bars in South Bay. Very high quality sushi rice. Can see and separate each grain with the traditional pointed Japanese chopsticks. Not common. Never seen this in takeout sushi in US. Never seen otoro or Bluefin tuna on the menu in a take out sushi place. Very Japanese in attention to high quality and the traditional nigiri sushi. Portion sizes similar to Japan. Served in unique togo container. Looks like the wood tubs you use to prepare sushi rice. Not the standard black plastic bowl. Owner on site. Fish flown in from Japan. Poke not standard Americanized version with soy sauce heavy marinade. Poke donburi very tasty. Sweet white onion compliments raw fish. Not standard off the shelf white onion. Slicing technique on fish also important. Have only seen this quality poke in Japan. Rarely here in US. Never seen Engawa in a take out sushi place. Not easy to find. Only 2 pieces per flounder. Chef very talented. They go to great effort to provide unmatched quality. Soft opening. 30$ for poke donburi Worth the price. Interesting to see the details and high quality. Not common. read more

Just got back from Japan and still had this Japan bug inside me, heating a promotion is in place so we came. This review is entirely on the value since we didn't eat here at the end. First of all, it's a small area at the end of the mall, seems like sharing space with the Vietnamese restaurant. And there's a fridge counter for sushi grab to go and a cashier station. Some tables and chairs. The whole ambiance doesn't encourage a sit down meal like any normal restaurant. The sushi from the fridge are labeled from the Japan which is how we got lured here, but looking at the price label is so horrifying! A box of sushi with the normal raw fish is 89.99! Even with 20-25% discount is still hard to swallow. There are other sushi like salmon and avocado small rolls that are 7.99. But for us that want a reminder of Japanese sushi, the 7.99 rolls won't do it and taking the 90 bucks sushi is not a good option either. Hence we left. read more

finally got to try this place. i've had them bookmarked for awhile. whenever i am craving sushi, i try to find new places to try and tonight we ended up here. i actually called beforehand bc i wasn't sure if needed reservations. just need to do reservations for omakase, other than that.. walkins are welcome. it is a small restaurant. but i feel like most of the sushi places i've been to are kind of intimate. so didn't mind that at all. looking at their menu, it was def on a higher end but then i read their sushi comes straight from japan. and then after i saw how much fish they give... def worth the price! when i was looking over to see chef making our sushi, i was thinking why is it so much rice? :( i was already getting judgmental. BUT it was actually perfect amount when it came to our table. the sushi rice was so good. the fish were so fresh, melted in my mouth. i was hoping to savor it... but sadly, i ate mine too fast :( we were soo full towards the end. glad my brother loved this place as well! we got omakase set, matsu set, tuna shogun set. i was sad no uni so they substitute another fish instead. i was really sad they didn't have uni though. but i guess there was a storm. i believed her bc this is the second place this week that said no uni. i just gotta come back when uni is back! i def want to try their omakase next time. the waitress was super nice, friendly, and attentive. even the chef made some conversation with us. def a super chill place. they also served a complimentary matcha pudding. i was so full already. but wow, i finished it. i love matcha! it was def light on the matcha but it still tasted amazing. i'm def coming back here. read more

Wow. Ok. I thought it would be the same as any other sushi restaurants in this side of the Bay Area, but the quality was really good and the price was definitely worth it. The chirashi-don at other places usually don't have Ikura, but here they put a GENEROUS amount of roe. The hamachi and scallop in the chirashi-don was so fresh and buttery. Don't get me started on the salmon-don. Only for $28 and you get so many slices of salmon and a palm full of ikura. I got the Take Set but I was jealous of the person who got the salmon ikura don. Onto the Take set. It was a perfect Omakase experience on a plate. The rice was fluffy and warm. It didn't fall apart or tasted cold and sticky. Yes. The sushi rice in the bowls and nigiri were warm and fluffy. They also provided real wasabi and not the tube versions. They have an omakase for reservation. I've been to Sushi Adachi in the Milpitas several times, and it never disappoints. What really makes this place stand out is that all of their fish (except Salmon, which according to them comes from Canada depending on the season), ingredients, and even the rice are sourced straight from Japan, and you can really taste the difference. The sashimi and sushi are on a whole different level--fresh, high-quality, and unlike anything else I've had around here. And if you have a sweet tooth, their desserts are homemade. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but honestly, it's worth every penny. If you love Japanese food, you need to check this place out. Highly recommended! read more

I followed their Instagram before they open cuz one of my friend was posting about them. Did a Togo during soft opening, it's good but also expensive (Togo is hard to enjoy the quality) Went with a friend one time and fell in love with them! So yesterday I did online order and went to pick it up. It was so satisfying. Everything was on point! Way above and beyond! I wish I can order that Adachi roll, it's not on the menu but it's together in the omakase set. I've never seen a roll in that orange color and guess what? It's uni mixed in that sushi rice. Came here for lunch on my own on the weekend and was so glad I came! Really good delicious quality ! Comes with free hot tea if you want, which I was offered it once I was seated. It's was pretty quiet when I went, just the sushi chef and a family eating there. I read previous reviews and got the $30 lunch set which was amazing and so worth the price! Starts off with edamame and miso soup! Yummy! Then comes with 4 pieces of sashimi! Very fresh and I love the wasabi they give, very fresh tasting and strong. Then comes the 7 piece nigiri, loved every single one! My favorite was the hamachi! They are all pretty good cuts and delicious and fresh! I was so getting full by the 4th nigiri! Then I asked for the check, and he waiter said that there's a matcha pudding included, which I had to Togo because I was too full! Tried it later and was so happy with it! Not too sweet and paired nicely with the sweetness of the cream! All in all a great place! prices are on the higher end but worth it with the quality of fish! I returned a month later. Boy oh boy. It was love all over again. This time we got the sake set and added otoro nigiri, corn soup, white peach beer. How did I miss the corn soup the first time? I've came to this plaza many times but first time at this hidden gem restaurant. The quality of the fish is amazing and every dish was fresh. We came in around 6PM on a Friday and there are plenty of seats. You can also make reservations. They also have happy hours from 4:30pm to 6:30pm but they only have alcoholic drinks for HH. I had a great dinner with my friend. The server was really attentive and kept coming back to serve us more hot tea. It was a great place for a casual dinner to catch up with my friend. read more

Such a hidden gem in South Bay! We stopped by this place just for pick up before a hike/picnic and it totally exceeded our expectations. All the cuts were so big, fresh and definitely with high quality. We ordered the Omakase set, Take set and Seafood Don, which were more than enough for two. Now when I look at their menu again, we should've ordered the Bluefin Maguro Zuke Don since we both love that lol. But we'll save it for the next time when we're in the area. The restaurant is in a big complex so it won't be difficult for you to find parking and even desserts place afterwards. read more

Some of the best fish I've ever had! It is pricier than most places but their fish is imported from Japan. Definitely paying for quality. I tried the spicy poke don which was the perfect rice to fish ratio. The sauces aren't too overpowering. They also have a grab and go fridge but can order from the cashier/kiosk for something freshly made. My first time here the cashier explained to me on how to order and also advertised that the items in the fridge are 20% off after 7:30! read more

It's my first time here. I was here at 6:30 pm on Friday and it wasn't busy. (Note that happy hour is over by 6pm, so go early). It started getting busy by 7:30 pm though. The place is small (maybe max for 30 people?), and their tables are round and mostly for 2 people. I have 3 people, so putting 2 little round table together is awkward. The food is decent. We ordered some really good tuna sashimi, but then of course our bill comes up to about $50 pp. There was only one server and we can see the owner sitting at the kitchen. But we were 1 of 3 tables, so service was reasonable. This is at a back corner space of a Chinese food focus mall. In wouldn't know about this place if someone didn't recommend it to me. They put up an ad saying that they will open another restaurant somewhere else in the Bay Area. I wish them luck. I would come back again if I want some tuna sashimi, but maybe not often. The other stuff is not really that impressive. read more

I think we are all here for the same reason... saw this place on social media! We came when they opened so there was no wait. The place is small, you seat yourself. There's a table with six chairs and then a bar like area with about four chairs if I remember right. They have a to go section if you're in a rush or you can order to dine in. The food was decent but it was so expensive for such a small portion. My friends got the spicy poke don, which is $25 per bowl and a lot smaller than a small sized poke bowl from a poke joint. I did the take set, which was six pieces of nigiri for $40. Needless to say, we went to get more food after for a fraction of the price. read more

It's our 4th time coming to Sushi Adachi and let me tell you, they NEVER dissapoint. They always deliver the highest quality fish and you can genuinely taste the difference between your average sushi restaurant after one bite. I eat sushi/ poke once a week all around the Bay Area/East Bay and after trying the sushi/poke here, I question why I even go to other poke shops now. The price of their items may look intimidating but considering the quality and amount of fish you get, Sushi Adachi is very reasonably priced. Don't let Yelp price tag scare you! I always leave full and more than satisfied. The service has always been excellent. They are always super attentive and don't hover, so you can enjoy your meal. I can't recommend Sushi Adachi enough! Fish quality is A++. I ordered the chawanmushi, spicy poke don, and the tuna mayo maki. The chawanmushi was very silky; there was a piece of shrimp and meat inside as well as the mushroom and fishcake on top. Personally enjoyed the other two more. The tuna mayo maki had some marinated kanpyo inside that went very well with it. The spicy tuna has a nice heat without making you want to die, also well cut so the fish was soft~~. Their price points are a little high for me (I'm poor ya'll, lol), so should take advantage of the soft opening discounts. Non-food related: Free parking lot and there are two order tablets but you can also order at the counter. Staff is very attentive during the soft opening, helped explain things right as I walked in. read more

Just dine here today, and their sushi was delicious! My daughter really enjoys their Salmon maki. As for my husband and I, we enjoyed all of their sushi's. We ordered mostly hamachi, avocado maki, and eel. Next time we will definitely tried uni nigiri. I do agree with most of the customers, this place truly beats sushi Tomi. I was lucky enough to experience a sample tasting of their sushi and sake from Japan. Honestly, the best melt-in-your mouth, ultra fresh tuna and toro I've enjoyed in the states. Their staff is so friendly, warm, and welcoming too. I'm surprised and delighted to find such high-end quality fish flown in directly from Japan in such an unexpected location. read more

Was in the area and was looking for a quick bite before dinner. Remembered I had this place bookmarked. Parked in the plaza parking. Inside looked clean. Looked at the menu outside before entering to see what I wanted. Once we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff. We looked at the sushi that was available to grab and buy. If there was something you wanted you can also ordered it on the self ordering kiosks. Staff also let us know that we can try the sample of the day. Came here for a quick dinner after craving some sushi. The restaurant is located in a small relatively empty plaza, at least when we were there. Plenty of parking, but I can imagine it to be difficult on weekends during peak hours. This is a super cute restaurant! It's clean, brightly lit, with friendly service. 1. Seafood Don - 8/10. Very delicious quality piece of fish! The rice was perfectly seasoned and the fish were thickly sliced. We didn't want Ebi so we requested an extra slice of salmon instead of the 2 pieces of Ebi that we should have gotten. 2. Spicy Poke Don - 8/10. This was delicious but very spicy! It's chunks of tuna, hamachi, and salmon drenched in a spicy mayo sauce. The rice isn't sushi rice, it's just regular rice with some furikake, but still delicious 3. Negi Hama Roll - 8/10. This only came with 5 pieces, but they were thick thick spices of hamachi in them. I've had other negi hama rolls where the portion of fish was tiny, but this place impressed me.
