Not as big of portions as I'm used to, and a little over-fried with the popcorn lobster topping. It might not be my first choice when I come back - but it was still fresh! Service: Great (very attentive & VERY kind, but missed some minor details... such as offering us miso soup AFTER the main dish already came, offering us ginger/wasabi once our rolls were already being handed to us at the bar, not realizing my water needed filling until we were signing the check). But, again, so kind. They'll get it down. Honestly, usually, with sushi restaurants, I return for the flavorful food (but only every once in awhile because of the high price) and expect super slow service. Here, it's the opposite. No. Not recommended. It is understandably aggravating for restaurant owners to receive callously given one-star reviews by customers, but this one is because of one thing : BAD SUSHI. Seriously. The ONE thing you had to do right was serve good fish. Failure to do so means you've violated pretty much THE basic tenet of sushi. The oysters were bad. Not just bad, but rotten. The halibut was brown/green. Yellowtail was mediocre in the middle of yellowtail season. Sweet shrimp was not sweet. There's actually more than just bad sushi at this place. Uni was taken off the ayce menu. Our 3 rounds of sushi was cut short because they didn't tell us when the kitchen was closing. Fish to rice ratio was a joke. And THEN, the server threatened to charge us extra for leftover bad oysters and halibut. My friends are still sick from eating it. In summary? No. Not recommended. Don't eat here. At least not until their chefs and servers get trained to recognize that stinky oysters and brown/green halibut means they're no bueno. read more

Absolutely loved our dining experience yesterday for my birthday. We had never been before so asked our server what she recommended between ordering from their ALL DAY Happy Hour menu and the AYCE lunch. We opted to order ala carte and enjoyed our meal immensely. Certain sushi pieces are $1 each, basic rolls between $3.50-4.50 and specialty rolls, other sushi and bottled beer are buy 2 get the 3rd for a dollar. Sake bombs $.99!!! There is also a free ice cream offer when you text them, but since it was my birthday they brought a 3 ice cream combo plate, plus some complimentary rolls to try that they had made for a photo shoot they were doing when we got there. The owner was super sweet and service was excellent. They are open until midnight Thursday through Saturday so a great late night spot to fuel up. This place did not disappoint. Today they where busy we got most of our meal pretty quit. The sushi chef had informed us we had to wait 15 minutes for our order of assorted live fish sashimi plate. We said it was fine since we had nothing to do afterwards. We lost track of time (I want to say we waited about 30 min) since we where talking to each other. The the live fish sashimi came the waiter apologize for the wait and the sushi chef came out to do the same and told us that they where short on staff today. Anyways I gave a 5 Star review because the staff was nice and was apolgetic for the wait for the food. I ordered the cucumber salad, expecting thin sliced cucumbers in rice vinegar with sesame seeds, which is how I've gotten it in most sushi restaurants. This was chunky seeded cucumbers in an oil based dressing with herbs, like Italian dressing. The owner was very nice and didn't charge me for it when I told him I didn't like it. All of the food was too cold, you couldn't really taste the fish. None of it had any wasabi, though I did get some on request. I requested hot tea (the kind with toasted rice) and that was wonderful. Tried out this new sushi place tonight. Not sure what the previous reviews are but one of the waitresses told me this restaurant changed ownership in August. Our family, especially my dad loves the korean style sashimi (halibut with all the korean side dishes) and we decided to try it tonight. Staff was very friendly, kind, and attentive. The portions are generous and we were stuffed. The boat we got in our combo was ginormous and you could tell the fish was good quality. They have tanks in the back and prepare it so it's very fresh and we even got live octopus. I loved eating the sashimi with the fresh and crisp veggies and their steamed egg was super good. I'm a Korean LA girl living in Azusa and was super craving Korean food... I definitely was not going to drive all the way to Ktown on Xmas eve so I searched for Korean food and to my surprise this place came up! I ordered the kimchi tofu stew and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Even their kimchi tasted authentic! BEWARE!!!!!!!! Horrible food. Had to order food to go due to quarantine - the handrolls are significantly smaller, yet I was charged the same. Hardly any avocado in my roll (paid $1.50 extra!) And even though my order was done in about 5 minutes, and opened to eat with 3 minutes, the seaweed was impossibly rubbery and chewy...the rice was HOT with some dried or uncooked rock-hard grains of rice in it that I had to pull out of my mouth. Bit into something I thought was plastic, pulled THAT out to find is it was a large fish scale. I've been eating sushi at different establishments well over 25 years, amd this was one of the worst ever. I used to eat here on occasion...it is sad to see they have diminished into sub-par, tasteless and wrong food. How the heck do you expect to stay in business during this time???? I came here once or twice before COVID and don't remember having that promo applied to my order, but instead got free miso soup and a salad. I was asked to go here with a couple of students, I have to say it is not like other sushi houses, the menu is small for the price. The sushi is okay, but not as good as Sake Roll. To judge one sushi house against another is what we do when we look particular foods. The menus are like day and night, Sake Roll has at least 70 percent more choices. Ordered here a handful of times for delivery, and the sushi was always good. Today, the crab meat in the rolls were really disgusting. I've never thrown out sushi before, especially something as basic as California rolls. The crab meat in all of my rolls tasted bad; they had a weird sour taste which is not normal for crab meat. I ate a few pieces and the taste was very off putting, I told my boyfriend I don't know if it was too much Mayo or if the crab meat was spoiled. So disappointed since I threw away almost all of my order. Hopefully I do not have food poisoning tomorrow but this order was a huge waste of money. read more

I've frequented quite a number of sushi restaurants as my credentials. I live in the city nearby and saw that there was a new sushi spot in town and I had to give it a try. This is my take on my first experience. First off, the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing. It is a very spacious place and the tables aren't too close together so you can keep the conversations to your table. We were then greeted with a widescreen of a menu. This was specifically helpful to view the different types of rolls offered at the establishment. We chose the AYCE because at these type of restaurants you kinda have to if it's offered. After choosing the AYCE option we received half sheets to order from. One sheet had all the appetizers and sushi on one sheet. The other sheet had all the rolls and specials rolls. This was the first time I experiences something like this at a AYCE sushi restaurant. It was kinda useful to distinguish which sheet to go straight to. It helped the table organize what to order according to the sheets. Also one plus would be that one person can decide all the sushi for the table and another person can order all the rolls for the table. The food came out on a timely manner. The sushi chefs were just a complete delight very cheerful and interactive. The sushi had a good ratio of actually fish to rice. I prefer the fish to be more of a 3 to 1. You can tell that the fish was good quality and fresh all throughout. The rolls were also very good. I believe this was the first time I ordered a large amount of rolls and sushi, I usually get more sushi than rolls, but this place was unexpectedly more close to average. Overall, I greatly enjoyed the food. Service was exceptional. Came at spaced out times to ask whether our table needed anything such as refills and what not, not pestering at all. So I placed an order online. I arrived about 20 minutes after placing the order and it was not ready. The server told me that the chef was still completing it. At the same time she was pulling the receipt from a printer and handed it to him, which meant he had never gotten started on it yet. She then told me to step outside because I couldn't stay inside because I wasn't eating there she said this to me in a very rude way, I went outside and waitredfor approximately 20 minutes. I finally got frustrated and went inside and asked if my order was ready, a female who I believe was the owner rudely told me that they were wrapping it up. I again waited outside for another 5 to 10 minutes and then they brought me my food. The reason I ordered online was so that I didn't have to wait I ended up waiting about half an hour to receive my food. Their attitude was very rude!
