Sushi Bada is AMAZING. By far one of the best sushi spots in the general Bergen county area. The sushi is so fresh and flavorful, the service is friendly and attentive, plus there's a full cocktail menu. Only thing to note is that the omakase isn't a true omakase experience, in that you'll receive each dish at the same time on one plate, but it was so good we didn't mind. This place was pretty cool, and for some reason not what I expected. It's got an industrial vibe, and had nice ambiance. There's a good drink menu and a lot of interesting choices for rolls. I've been to several Sushi restaurants but this is by far the best Sushi I've ever had. I recommend making reservations ahead of time. The place was filled with tons of sushi lovers. Although the restaurant was bit loud, it wouldn't deter me from going back again. Wow, so let me start by saying that I am absolutely shocked to find such a gem of a restaurant in Suffern. I struggled for a long time trying to find a good Japanese restaurant in Orange/Rockland county, and I am pleased to say that I have finally found it! I stopped in for lunch this past weekend and was blown away by how great this place is. This place has such a beautiful interior/great ambiance, it felt like I was in the city. It's a perfect place for a date or a girls night. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in. The service was friendly and professional throughout our entire meal. For our entrees, I ordered the Trust Me - which is the chef's selection of an appetizer, sashimi, sushi, and speciality hand roll. It also came with a soup and a salad. For $47, it was such a a great deal and came with so many different courses. The appetizer was uni on top of sliced tuna, in this incredible sauce. It is probably one of the best things I've ever had and I am still dreaming about how truly amazing it was. After this was the sashimi course - the pieces were so beautifully presented and the fish was fresh. The sushi course was an assortment of fish similar to what you'd get at omakase, but the pieces were presented on a platter, rather than individually. The scallop and shrimp sushi particularly stood out, both were so good. The other pieces were good too, but wasn't anything too special. We also ordered one of the combos - 2 classic rolls and a design roll: Tri-state rolls and the trio roll, everything was very good. Another thing that impressed me was their full bar and a dedicated mixologist. We ordered the sake-tini and the grilled pineapple whiskey cocktails. Both cocktails were beautifully crafted and were so aesthetically pleasing to look at. They have a decent number of seats at their bar - I would come back here someday just for drinks! Pretty place but very overpriced. I came up from nyc for the night and found this place. You are paying for the aesthetic in an area where there isn't much to compare. Food was decent but nothing great. Avoid chicken karage.. literally looks and taste like overcooked chicken nuggets. service was incredibly slow and spotty which was the biggest annoyance by far since we were famished. Had to flag down our waiter a few times who was getting the order of others before my table even though we arrived 15 mins earlier. Glad I tried but probably wouldn't come back. read more

I haven't been sit down at this places since pre-covid but this is still one of my favorite places. This is nothing like grocery sushi. It's such a great quality fish. I came here sit down lunch after the night before I had ordered the orange blossom for take out. The other thing I love about this is place is they really get to know you. The owner still knows my name after so many years and I don't regularly order from here (once in a full moon and my order is pretty basic of 1 or 2 rolls), but tells you something about how they value every customer. We were so excited to eat here! Walking in it is so pretty, nice fairy lights on ceiling but then we noticed that the acoustics were really bad. There was a loud party in the back and we can hear everything. the staff were OK (waiter forgot my husband's drink) and was too nice to certain customers (there were 2 women with two young children who were running around, almost colliding with the waitresses several times- they said nothing. I blame the parents, but really, this is not McDonalds. Kids should not go out to eat unless they are well behaved and the owner should have said something). So getting to the food: we had shrimp dumplings, vegetable dumplings- all very good. For dinner we had chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki. both were edible but very dry (how can you overcook dark meat chicken? My husband thought he got a chicken cutlet as the salmon was so thin and dry). We also got fried rice, which was good. What got me was the price. For 3 people, 3 entrees, 2 appetizers and 2 glasses of wine and 2 glasses of soda: 190 (including tip and tax). It is so expensive! I would not go back. The food was not that good. read more

Went here last night for the 2nd time. The sushi has been fantastic both times. Our fave rolls so far are the bada lobster and spicy shrimp. We also tried 2 apps - bang bang shrimp (comes with 4 shrimp but we had 5 people - this used to come in a bowl and was easier to share) and bull fries (bulgogi, guac and sour cream on waffle fries. Both apps were delicious and would order again. We didn't have dessert this time but have had the mochi ice cream before. The vibe is more upscale with a cocktail bar and extensive drink menu with signature cocktails and sake. I got the red widow which was awesome - it had lychee juice in it and beautifully pink. Loved the giant cube of ice. It's a pretty large place, but they were packed and they gave us a look when we did not have a reservation (for 5 people at 715 on a sat night). We were given a choice - be seated now but leave by 815 for a reservation or wait 25 mins for a table with no time limit. We waited at the bar and within 5 or so mins a table had opened up. By the time 815 rolled around there were plenty of tables and we wouldn't have needed to leave anyway! They take a long time to prepare the drinks...beers came first, then prosecco. My cocktail didnt arrive until at least 10 minutes after I ordered at the bar and was seated and waiting while the drinks came piecemeal. I thought they had forgotten and the waitress gave me attitude when I inquired. She was also kind of rude when we were ordering. The food can sometimes be slow to arrive but this time was pretty speedy and everything tasted good. The restaurant can get pretty toasty so if you run hot like me, don't wear anything too warm! read more

Loved Sushi Bada for a date night, girls night, etc. The ambiance is modern, city-esque with great cocktails and fantastic sushi! Prices are moderate but you surely get what you pay for. The bar in front was a great first stop before we sat down. The bartender asked what we liked to drink then asked for our blessing for him to craft our cocktails. He made great choices for us-- the Haiku for my husband, and an off-menu special for me! For Appetizers we had the Hamachi Truffle and the Orange Blossom. The Orange Blossom was a fresh, easy bite of freshly seared salmon and masago, & it was perfect to share. The Hamachi Truffle was the best I've ever had. Perfect cuts of fresh yellowtail, with a kiss of truffle oil & crunchy onions. For dinner we shared some rolls; the Red Hot Chili, Tri-State, Hamachi Jalapeno, and Geisha. Stopped in with a group based on a friend's rave reviews. I'm not from the area and this was my first time in. Place itself was very cute. Good for a date night or catching up with friends if you want a louder environment that feels more upbeat. Servers seemed a little stressed and while I'm glad they are doing what they feel comfortable with in wearing masks, it did make it very hard to understand what they were saying. Some people in my group raved about this place and love it. I found it to be fine, no issues but nothing spectacular. Seaweed salad was quite fishy and I couldn't enjoy it. I'm a huge fan of pickled vegetables, but I was very disappointed in the appetizer (taste wise and not worth the price) and it deterred me from ordering the vegetable roll. I ordered the AAC roll instead, which was solid. The bang bang shrimp a friend ordered and it looked delicious. Spicy eel was good. All the rolls we ordered were solid. Miso soup was great. I would've appreciated a little more variety in the cocktails--offering some lighter options. Overall good spot to check out if in the area, but I wouldn't need to return. read more

My turn off to this establishment is that they are using covid to take advantage of patrons in a way that does not make sense other than using this as an opportunity to make more money. Sushi bada should be ashamed to be so petty that they refuse tap water forcing you to purchase $2 bottled water citing "due to Covid". Forgot to make reservations, the host offered us a table but we'd have to be out in 1 hour. Knowing my husband and son, that would not be enough time for us. The table by the window was available so we happily sat there. Great ambiance, nice background music, not too loud. You can actually talk to your table mates without screaming. When we ordered, the host made mention that the sushi servings served about 4 people & perhaps we may have ordered too much. Lol, he doesn't know my guys. First time we tried the crispy rice... so good. The tempura and aged tofu.. lovely. The sushi was well made, neat and nicely presented. All of them were delicious. Very nice vibe in the restaurant, but you are seated almost on top of other guests to accommodate as many people as they can inside (not very private). Service was good and fast. This is some of the best sushi I have had in a long time. I love the atmosphere of the whole restaurant, and the staff is extremely friendly. It is always a good sign when everyone in the place seems to be regulars and the waiters know them all by name. Their menu is definitely different than most sushi places, they seem to be Korean owned, because they have some Korean style dishes. We started off the night with Avocado fries, or really tempura Avocado. They were awesome, crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside. The dipping sauce was a spicy mayo concoction that had just the right bite that was complimented by the sweet avocado. For dinner I had the chirashi, the fish was fresh, melt in your mouth, greatness. And the rice at the bottom was cooked to perfection and had the right sticky consistency. My girlfriend had some rolls, which were more fish than rice (how it should be). If you are looking for a change of pace sushi spot, you need to try out Bada. You will not be disappointed. read more

I pondered whether or not to leave a review because this used to be my favorite restaurant with the nicest and most attentive staff when they were located across from the airmont diner.My latest experience at the "new" Bada was less than stellar. I decided to sneak in and dine by myself (knowing it's busy) since I was randomly in town. After entering it took a few minutes to find a server who finally pointed out who the host was. Between the two of them they were able to find me a table in the back (after a 8ish min wait-totally fine). I sat down and ordered a miso soup and kani salad to start. Side note: grew up eating kosher foods the first half my life and am used to salty....I had to add my water to my soup in attempt to make it palatable and half way through I finally decided it wasn't worth the effort leaving the rest in my bowl to be taken away. The soup was saltier than the sea. Then came my kani salad which (my error-should have read was not a typical spicy cucumber kani I'm used to). It was ok but mostly just some crab, thin sliced apple, THINLY sliced avocado, 1 shrimp on mesculine greens and a basic dressing. No flavor/nothing too exciting with and/ or without the dressing sauce. Thinking I'm in the best restaurant I also ordered a piece of O-Toro at $8.5 a pc. It was SO fishy I spat out what I didn't forcefully swallow out of disgust (trying not to draw attention bc this is disgusting behavior imo)....I made the server aware someone needed to check it out and she had it removed from the bill and said she informed the manager. Next came the trio and Caribbean roll. I took one bite of each and forcefully swallowed as one was also fishy and they both were EXTREMELY heavy handed with vinegar in the rice. The sushi pieces were falling apart and pretty tiny for the hefty price they come with. I understand the pandemic was rough, suffern has weird downtown rules and costs , expenses are at a all time high but quality control is clearly not happening in a business where it's a must. If David is the same owner from the original restaurant I'm really sad and disappointed because everything used to be PERFECTION. Wrapping up and taking home all my sushi should have been a huge clue to the server but she never asked how my food was or if there were ant issues when she brought my empty container. The young boy server instead saw I had $100 cash with my check and asked to take it for me. I left 20% because servers work hard but I likely won't return till comments say something has changed. Ended up tossing ALL the leftovers and I literally went and got takeout somewhere else because this experience was a HUGE let down :-( read more
