It's hard to find a better lunch deal. I think it was $48 for 12 courses. That's pretty solid, especially in NYC. Starting with an Uni/Wagyu bowl definitely got me excited for the rest to come. It was an app, but I could have eaten a portion much larger. The fish was fresh and I loved that they included my favorites. Scallop, Otoro, Sea Breem, Amber jack... wow. This is what swayed me to want to come back. The meal closed with an aged miso soup. I found this interesting, since soup is generally a starter. I did not get full from the omakase, but I seldom do. Service was very good and attentive. The inside has a large sushi counter and a few tables, and I walked right in at 12:30pm on a weekday when they opened, expecting I might be the only one. Shortly thereafter, the place started to fill up with patrons. The chef did a great job, since he had to manage serving people in a staggered manner, as those of us who arrived earlier were way ahead in the service. They do accept walk-ins, so you don't need a reservation, per say. I would probably make one if I was going for the dinner service. This was still one of the best spots for omakase in NYC and I will come back to it.

Holy hell... this Omakase is brilliant. Good value and amazing quality. Just back from Tokyo and this place is comparable to some of the amazing omakase / sushi there. Really great. Had a very engaged chef.... sat at the counter and had the 18 piece dinner $88 omakase. Just right in terms of feeling full / enjoying a wide range of nigiri. Everything had a nice twist... aged miso, homemade ginger, etc. Added the "chef's special" which ended with sprayed gold.... enough said. Super great whiskey / sake options also.

Okay. Listen up. If you're looking for a fire omakase meal during lunch, this is your spot. $48 for 12 courses? STEAL. The quality? Elite. The service? Impeccable. The ambiance? Classy. I don't know what to even say besides come try this place!! Each piece was delicious and perfectly balanced. The chef was quiet but attentive, and the pacing was spot-on -- no rush, no lag. It felt like they respected your time but also wanted you to enjoy each bite fully. The space itself is minimalist but warm, which I loved. No distractions, just a peaceful sushi counter experience that feels elevated but still approachable. Check them out!

I am from Chicago and try to go to Omakase everywhere I go. I have been to Omakase multiple times in NY as well - and this place....... Hands down the best ever. Ever. The ambiance is perfect, calm, classy, professional. Every chef and staff so kind. The sushi- well, amazing. And the art, phenomenal. Interaction with guests amazing. I have now been here twice. Each time perfect. Our chef, Oscar, was amazing.

Came here again for Friday lunch and the food was leaning mediocre this time. Updating to 4 stars because the first time was great but probably won't be back because of the inconsistency

Really enjoyed this omakase! It's not too busy like other more popular omakase spots, which I really liked. I wish they had a menu of all the pieces, but other than that, no complaints. I'll definitely be coming back to try the lunch omakase!

I live very close to this restaurant and was excited to see an omakase place so close to home. I have been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. I think the lunch omakase is overall a great deal and portioned appropriately. You get appetizers, 8 pieces of nigiri, a hand roll, and miso soup for $48. The fish was all fresh and I liked the level of seasoning. I didn't leave feeling hungry and had good interactions with the sushi chef. The dinner I was less impressed with. For $88 you get a very similar meal but with 5 extra pieces of nigiri. The sushi chef was different this time around. I thought a lot of the pieces were actually under seasoned and the fish was cut very thin. I would give the dinner omakase only 3 stars. Not a bad deal but I've been to better for a similar price (under $100). So overall, a somewhat mixed experience but either way I am glad to see more sushi options in the Kips Bay and Murray Hill area.

A pretty modern twist to Omakaze with some unique flavors! I loved the ikura that was soaked with sweet soy and kanpachi with homemade chili crisps! So delicious and amazing. I absolutely loved the whole ginger for palette cleansers. The semi sweet miso was a great closer. I definitely recommend and would come back again!

This sake was sweet, but not sweet enough for me.

My soulmate and I decided to have a date night at this place. Glad I decided to do a search for something in the Kips Bay area. Omakase 33 has excellent service, great decor, and delicious courses. They have been open for about a year. Perfect place to have a meal before a movie. We'll be back!

1st course - a bit strange to be serving a "don" first, which was two spoonfuls of rice with toppings

Another one of those Chinese-run omakase places in the city. I like these places for their affordability and convenience - food is usually served more quickly than at traditional omakase places. This place is quite a bit cheaper than other Chinese-run omakase places in my nabe, so I gave it a shot. The seafood ingredients used were mostly okay, but the rice was dry and hard, and tasted like overnight rice. Luckily the rice pieces were small, but honestly they should pay more attention to the rice quality. Service was good and the sushi chef was chatty. They did not try to upsell as we just got the standard omakase set and didn't get any extra nigiri.

A newer spot in the Kips Bay area serving up delicious omakase -- the ambiance is really nice and it's definitely a bit more upscale than some of the other omakases I've been to in the city, but worth it IMO. I'd recommend for a date night or for a smaller group. They serve really traditional nigiri, with the only flavors being the fish, soy sauce and wasabi. The nigiri was all very fresh and they have toppings and seasonings that are all house-made. My favorite bite was definitely the Tuna! The sushi chef was an absolute delight -- he was so patient and took the time to explain everything, hands-down the best omakase chef I've ever experienced. I had a really nice time here, would recommend!

I am sooooo glad my boyfriend booked this for my birthday (he picked it off my want to go list). The service was excellent! The manager/owner (I am unsure) was very welcoming. He kept referring to us using our names which made the experience more memorable and checked in every once in a while to make sure everything was ok. The food itself was spectacular every course was interesting and different. We would recommend adding the oyster shot!!! Very flavorful!!!! They are part of the Omakase Shihou chain (changed the name to 33 because people kept confusing this location with another restaurant out of the state) which we will definitely try out. So if you are looking for affordable omakase with a great experience I would 100% recommend this place.

There was a short wait, but from what I could see, a variety of tables here and seating. Not the biggest place, dark, intimate, wood accents and small spotlights over tables. We ordered buns and spicy edamame to start. It seemed like we had just ordered when the food came out. Love that. Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

We tried the spicy shrimp (coconut based broth), spicy tonkatsu, and salmon miso ramen. The tonkatsu and salmon were both cooked well - tender and moist. They had a variety of sake and beer options. The inside is small but turnaround is fairly quick. Lots of two seaters and a large table that we were able to snag after just a few minutes of waiting. There was also bar seating. Pretty dark inside to add to the ambiance for a quick date or catch up with friends. Checked in to the waitlist via Resy because we didn't have a reservation, and it was a short wait. Service was prompt.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour.
