I came to Sushi Brokers hoping to treat my dad to a special 68th birthday, but instead was met with the worst service I have ever received. From the beginning, our server was very aggressive, pushy, and rude. He was impatient and rushed us when we were looking at the menu. Furthermore, the sushi did not taste fresh at all, and was presented very poorly. The fish looked old and stale, and the avocado was dark green like it has been sitting out for too long. I decided to tell the manager about this but instead she was rude and hostile and told us, "if you don't like the food, then you can go ahead and leave." Not to mention, she did not look presentable and smelled like cigarettes. At first I thought it was just the server that was having a bad day, but then I realized it was the whole STAFF. A day that was meant to be special for my father, was ruined by this terrible restaurant. Unfortunately, this place is underwhelming. The only thing we liked was the atmosphere. The food was not good. We ordered vegetable cups which were ok, but the grilled Mahi Mahi was terrible. It was over cooked and clearly sat under a heating lamp for a while before it made it to our table. It was one of the worst Mahi Mahi dishes I've ever tasted. The rolls were small, generic, you get larger and better rolls at other places around town. I ordered a cocktail and it was mostly chunks of ice, not much of the actual cocktail. If you are looking for a bar with some mediocre sushi...this is the place for you. The sushi (especially the nigiri) is pretty awful and overpriced. The nigiri we ordered was not fresh at all and tasted so bad and rancid that no one in our group of 6 would eat it. The server was rude to top it all off. Would not recommend. I used to love going here but they have absolutely zero COVID regulations. I came here about a week ago and my server was a blonde who was clearly sick. She was sniffling and had a light cough on top of that you could hear in her voice when she took our order that she was clearly struggling. She had on no face mask and no gloves. An establishment as nice as this one should have more than enough employees to work so the sick ones don't have to. I would not be surprised if more of their employees are sick now because they let the one that was come to work. So disappointing. read more

I love the sushi options here but right now using strict protocol for sanitation is key. While I ordered the past weekend, I noticed most of the staff wearing masks below their noses. I also watched one of the staff create a"snack" in his hand pull down his mask as he crouched below the counter, eat it, and never wash his hands before prepping an order. Dinner on 9-20-2019. Just terrible!!! and I mean TERRIBLE! If you're looking for a less than acceptable dining experience, then this is the place for you. The service was awful, and the entire restaurant is clearly mis-managed. I would also strongly advise the owners to investigate re-hiring a staff of people who can at least try at looking presentable in public. NO ONE wants to be greeted or served by someone who looks like they just rolled out of bed with a bullnose ring for God Sakes! Take a bath and comb your hair! The service was about as bad as it gets too. We even asked to speak to the manager and that took about 8+ minutes. We were really excited to try this place and were seated fairly quickly for a group of six on a Friday night. This is where it turned. After being seated for 15-20 min a frantic looking server saw us seated out of her own section and came over. She brought us water and we told her we were ready to order, she stated she would be right back. Another 15 min has passed and still no one came back to take our order, so we got up and left. I blame no one other than the management. Poorly executed restaurant and service. Completely pathetic to be represented in downtown Gilbert. Do better. read more

Finally got over to SB in Gilbert after having been to the Scottsdale location numerous times. The decor is dead on same as the Scottsdale location but this one has an outdoor/ indoor dining option. The service was on point and the sushi was as memorable as their other location. The garlic/ chili sauce edamame was crazy good! read more

It was our first time in and we really enjoyed it! We went for happy hour and they had a lot of sushi rolls to choose from. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly. The sushi rolls were delicious, i highly recommend trying the crunch roll! The only downside was that the ladies at the host desk were very unfriendly. No hello or smiles from any of them. The food makes up for that though so we will definitely be back. read more

I was really excited to try this place out because it had such good reviews. The building was freezing cold, the service was horrible, soda was flat, calamari tasted like pure batter and was $8 for a quarter of a cup. The sushi was mediocre tasting and bland. Just slightly below average rolls. Much better sushi elsewhere in the east valley. Attentive waitstaff, but the kitchen ruined the meal. I would have given two stars, but the waitress bumped it up to three stars. There were four of us. We ordered potstickers (pretty good) as an appetizer, while three of us ordered rolls and one ordered mahi mahi. The first roll hit the table before the app. The app came with the next three rolls altogether. We ordered the Hot Lips, Crunchy, Surfer, and California rolls. They were ok, but nothing to get too excited about. Roughly 15 minutes after everyone was finished, the mahi mahi came out. Sooo, three of us got to wait and watch the last person eat. The waitress was apologetic and the mahi mahi was reported to be good. However, it really sucked the life out of the meal with the delivery timing. Without making a fuss, the waitress gave us a discount equal to the cost of the mahi mahi, so that made the disappointment a little easier to deal with. All in all, great waitstaff and average rolls. I want to see it work out for them, but If I try them again I'll probably look at the noodles menu. read more

Sushi brokers is hands down my favorite go to sushi spot in downtown Gilbert. The staff is super friendly and very attentive! The food is always so amazing. My favorites are The Surfer Roll, shrimp fried rice and the spicy garlic edamame just to name a few! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu quite honestly! The drinks are great too, I recommend the Tokyo Colada! The owner is always there and makes his patrons feel welcomed and taken care of. I really enjoyed this place. It was almost empty on Saturday at opening time. The ambiance is nice and comfortable. The service was friendly and on point. The menu options are diverse and well priced. Really enjoyed the garlic edamame, tempura and sushi rolls. Came here 2 weeks ago and had a great experience. Came back today and it was awful! The manager JP is all over the place and was very rude to our server. Our server took our order right but 2 to 3 other people brought us our food and didn't even know what the food was that they brought and who it was for. My friend ordered an appetizer at the start of the dining experience for her daughter and she never got it leaving her child hungry. Management and staff were all over the place and had very unprofessional tendencies. For a restaurant in the heart of downtown Gilbert I had higher expectations and unless they change management and staff to people who are professional and know how to run a restaurant and actually want to be there I would not recommend going. There are many other choices for sushi that have better service and quality food. The only reason why I'm giving this a 1 star is because our server did her best to accommodate given the circumstances. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Came to Sushi Brokers on date night. Ambiance is good. Outside seating is nice. Music is not too loud. Service is good and bar is comprehensive. Sushi is terrible, spicy tuna roll was over spiced to cover the fact that the tuna did not taste right. Ate one piece and was done. Snapper sashimi was 15$ and was five small horribly cut pieces. According to my wife it was tasteless and hard to chew. She had two pieces of the five piece sashimi to try and give it a chance but it was no go and we asked for our check. No money taken off even though we informed the server and our plates were hardly touched. Will not be back. read more

Giving two stars because the food and happy hour prices were actually really great! However, our dinner was abruptly interrupted after just receiving our food by a group of young kids that the restaurant decided to accommodate. They sat them at a large half inside/half outside table. Normally that wouldn't bother us at all. However, it's 40 degrees outside, and pouring rain, we have two kiddos and it was literally freezing! Not once did anyone ask if we wanted to move, so we were forced to box everything up and take our now cold food home to eat. Along with the two other tables sitting next to us. Of all the Sushi restaurants I've been to Sushi Brokers is by far the best. Other Sushi restaurants salmon taste like it was caught fresh from Tempe Town Lake or a public golf course that uses reclaimed water from the local sewage treatment plant, but not Sushi Brokers. Jules is amazing. Her personality and ability to convey the amazing wonderment that is Sushi is one to be admired. Her favorites are now my favorites, it's like a taste bud soul connection created before the dawn of mankind. So if you're near Downtown Gilbert, forget about Joe's or Dierks Bentley (last album sucked IMO) and come to Sushi Brokers. So I love sushi- and I've never been here before. It's right next to my current job so it was a convenient little place to go to after work. Nonetheless- my co worker and I came in here and sat for about 5 mins, in that time we had a worker walk by us, ask how we were doing but continue walking. Then- a woman (Whitley) walked up and grabbed our drink order, but then the same guy from before brought us out drinks. Then after that- we proceeded to wait 15 more mins for Whitley (or anyone) to come back to the table to take our order. To say the least- the experience was to be desired. I'm a server and there were only 2 or 3 other tables in the restaurant- so there was no reason for our service to be so shoddy. It's safe to say- I will not be returning. read more

Went to dine in and there was a sign that seat yourself so we did. Sat there for over 10 minutes at a table in the middle of the restaurant, actually a table away from the chefs, and no one came over to us. It wasn't busy, as there were maybe 8 occupied tables. A woman was walking around. After a while I walk up to her and asked where was the manager. She said she was. Told her we had been there for a while and we were leaving. She didn't know what to say and pretty much just stood there. The two or maybe more servers were in the back the whole time. Left and went to Joyride down the street for dinner instead.
