My wife and I were HUGE Temari fans. They had the best sushi in the state hands down. Everything we loved about it is gone with the new owners. Rolls are smaller and taste like grocery store sushi rather than quality restaurant sushi. The sauces are different and used way more sparingly, the cuts of the ingredients are inconsistent. The rice tastes cheaper and the fish and fruits are unrecognizable. The Baja roll and Primo rolls use to be my favorite rolls anywhere. I ordered both and I honestly couldn't even finish the Baja roll. Cheap fish, canned fruit, almost no sauces. I'd honestly rather pay $25 a roll to have the old rolls back rather than these new versions. Sadly, I probably won't ever return unless they go back to the old level of quality for their rolls. I used to love this place. I am SO disappointed that the old owners sold but at the same time I have to be happy for them as I'm sure they profited from the sale. The quality of the sushi and the service has deteriorated. I remember the warmth in the service at the sushi bar before and that is completely gone...I have given it a few (maybe five or six) tries since they changed ownership and I think I'm to the point where it's clear that the disappointment is not just because they're new. The sushi is just not good. I have to stop coming here and it's a bummer because I live super close and used to love it. I've heard a lot of people talk about how this is some really good sushi and I must say it's pretty solid sushi. The fish tastes fresh and has a huge range of sushi. They even have a full kitchen if you don't want sushi too. The service is very on top of it and very nice. I enjoy the Japan decor throughout that gives me a taste of being back in Japan. As for the sushi, my recommendation is to order the US Open roll. Such a great roll that has a tasty lemon sauce with really fresh taste throughout. The mango roll was good but was a bit too saucy for my liking. All In all, this was some pretty delicious sushi that will bring me back. Also the pricing was too bad either. read more

Teriyaki beef is bite sized pieces of fairly rubbery steak with typically sweet sauce and a medium serving of rice. Salad greens are nice spring mix with no fixings and mayo based Asian dressing. Vegas roll is pretty good and fried well with good batter, but as with all restaurant food these days... expensive for what you get. Prices on online menu are significantly lower than actual menu prices in establishment so be prepared to pay more than advertised on yelp. Will not be on our regular rotation. Maybe stop if you just really need sushi and don't have a regular place you like yet. read more

Stopped by for lunch for some sushi. I sat at the sushi bar which is cramped. There's a bar but doesn't look like they utilize it anymore. The lighting is very dim. I got a spicy roll and a Vegas. My wife and I came here every other week all the way from Queen creek because it was that good. Since the ownership change in September we have come back a handful of times, each time hoping to taste the amazing flavors again. The pros, the wait that used to be an hour or more, has gone away. They are definitely faster at getting you served and rolling the sushi rolls. The cons, unfortunately they have gone to canned items for the fruit and it is not fresh anymore. The fish, especially the spicy tuna, tastes bland and gritty. It has just become a mediocre sushi place with expensive prices. Maybe the reason for less wait is because of less demand. I have talked to many of our friends that used to come here often and their conclusion is the same as ours. I would rather pay a little more for the continued freshness than keep the price the same and eat bland fish. My conclusion, if you have never eaten here, you will probably enjoy it because it is just like every other sushi restaurant, but if you knew what a gem it was, prepare to be disappointed. read more

Obsessed! I am so hesitant to write this review because I don't want anyone to know about MY new spot because it's so quaint and quiet! We used to come here many years ago and I believe recently they did a little remodel and change of ownership. It's still soooo good! Best rolls, best teriyaki chicken, amazing Udon, miso... I could go on and on. I wouldn't come here on a Friday or Saturday expecting to be sat right away. It is a small spot but worth the wait. We went twice last week... what can I say? Visited for the first time since the remodel and honestly was absolutely devastated. I really wanted to like it but all the warmth and character is gone now. I used to rave about this place and take all my friends and dates here it was the best sushi anyone had ever tried it was my favorite spot to bring people, the vibes and service were unmatched. Sterile boring atmosphere aside, Now most the menu is gone they just have a small choice of generic rolls now. The primo roll was still pretty good but the other ones that my date tried he did not like, I felt bad for recommending the place. It just seems like every other mid sushi place now. THE best Sushi in AZ HANDS down. I want to gatekeep this place but they deserve all the recognition. The menu is endless and their specialty rolls are some of the best I've had. They do a lot of unique flavors and the owner even made us custom rolls after asking if we had ever been there before. We heard good things about this place from a friend so decided to check it out rather than our usual sushi place. We arrived and there was quite a crowd in line waiting for a table. You have to wade through the crowd to put your own name on a clipboard. I thought it was kinda lame and not very obvious to those coming in after us. We thought it would be a good sign that there was such a wait, but it should have been a warning for us. There are few tables inside and only 6-8 seats at the sushi bar. We waited 45 minutes for a party of four. By the time we sat down, we were famished but just grateful to be seated. They plopped the menus down and ran off. It took 10 minutes to get our drink orders in. And another 10 to get our sodas. At one point the waitress hurried by to ask if we were ready to order but didn't even pause long enough for us to answer. So we waited another 10 minutes to place our food order. She was not very helpful about the few questions we had about the menu and seemed irritated that we would even bother her with questions. Our food took another 15 minutes to arrive. The cooked items came out before the sushi, which seemed odd and the sushi chefs weren't busy because we were sitting across from the bar and could watch them. The food was underwhelming. I think the appeal of this place is the large number of special roll options which aren't my measure of great sushi, in my opinion. Both chicken entrees were overcooked and dry but a good portion. The sashimi were made of large slices, but the chef didn't slice the fish properly. It was not artfully sliced like you would expect from a good sushi place. However, it tasted fresh, but it still wasn't pleasant grinding through the stringy pieces within the fish. Basically, if you like lots of special rolls, this is your place(if you can wait 2 hours before you finally eat). If you are a sushi connoisseur, you will not be impressed here. We won't be venturing back here again. read more

Get there early, there's a wait during lunch and dinner times. Be 30 min early if you want to be among the first seated. We were 20 year regulars at Temari when they sold in late 2025. Our personal feelings aside, we WANTED to like it. We've been three different times since the restaurant changed hands and I feel like we've given them a fair amount of time to work out the kinks. Unfortunately, as heartbroken as I am, I will not be back. The quality of fish is my main complaint. And that, or course, affects everything. I first noticed it with the Tuna Poke. There is no way the colorless, rubbery tuna they now serve is sourced the same way. I was taken aback that they actually served it. Not once, but on three separate occasions. Like I said I WANT to like this place. I WANT to keep giving you my money, but the decision to purchase a lesser quality fish product was the kiss of death for me. Rest in Peace Temari. New owners and it's soft opening week..... I HATE soft openings and it showed. Half the stuff I ordered the waitress came back telling me, "sorry but we don't have those". The place did get a facelift and it does look more "roomier" and definitely longer sushi bar. Fish that they DID HAVE was pretty fresh and cut to good portion. Hands down best sushi spot in Gilbert and probably in Phoenix! The service is great always, the same two servers have been here for 10+ years. The sushi chefs each have 20+ years. There is always a short wait for dinner because it is small but it is always worth it. They live quickly and will get you in and out fast or slow which ever pace you prefer. There are tons of regulars and locals here and the sushi chefs make you feel like family. Where do I begin with the food? Oh my gosh it is so so insanely good! Every roll we have ever ordered is so good and the menu is HUGE! The sushi combinations are endless but they also have lots of cooked food and it is also delicious. The chefs are flavor masters and the sauces and the toppings make each bite of sushi an experience! There are families, large groups 8-10 and tons go couples on a date here. My sister in law moved to the Gilbert area and suggested this place. Cozy place that looks authentic. They had a 3 page sushi menu which was a bit overwhelming. Had the Hollywood roll and it was ok, nothing mind blowing. Vegetable tempura was average and so was the ramen my daughter had. Bill came and she quickly took my card without me seeing the bill. She must have said it 4 times, " tip included" but I had no idea what it was she tipped herself. We were a party of 4 and no where did it say it would be included. Would never go back! read more

The staff was screaming at the Sushi chef's, orders came out wrong, and horrible server attentiveness. No one even asked If we enjoyed our food, which we didnt. My husband and I went here tonight for our anniversary. This was our second time here. We got to the restaurant at 4:45 and were one of the first at the door waiting for them to open at 5. We were seated immediately and ordered our food 10 minutes after being seated. You write your order on a piece of paper. The front side has prewritten list and anything not on there you write on the back of the sheet. We waited over an hour and still hadn't gotten our food. So we asked the waitress and she abruptly shut us down and said "it's coming we're really busy". Five minutes later she comes back and says they are out of one of the rolls we ordered. So we asked for a different one. Ten minutes later one roll comes out. Ten minutes after that another roll comes out. Then we're given our check and I told her we still haven't received our sashimi or salad. She went back to check and came to tell me that I marked it on the front of the sheet (where you're supposed btw) so she didn't see the order. We eventually get our food and our updated bill. Nothing was comped at all. No apology. Food was okay. Had the service been good we would consider going back. read more
