This spot has been my sushi spot since high school. I tried my first sushi roll here, and honestly nowhere else has really compared, especially for the price points. The special rolls are so diverse and the names are so fun! Definitely a lot of variety for me because I love spicy, especially with the homemade sauces that Sushi Cafe offers! The wait staff is extremely friendly, the restaurant is immaculately clean, the vibe is definitely laid back, and the food is always fresh! We certainly miss when we could come in for live music on the weekends. My family and I have been ordering during the coronavirus outbreak. If you're ordering takeout on the weekend, it's fair to be patient and expect a bit of a wait, just as with other restaurants during these tough times. The employees all wear masks and gloves, and offer curbside pickup which is great! We understand that they're working their hardest to accommodate the Caldwells and the neighboring communities, but I'm just so happy that I can continue to support this local favorite and get my sushi fix during these trying times! read more

The sushi was horrible tonight. The salmon was this light light pink color and soo dry and tasteless. The tuna was not even solid, it just felt soft and looked so orange and gross. Went here for lunch. I don't eat sushi but my coworkers do. I was pleased to see they had a good variety of things other than sushi as well. I had the chicken teriyaki meal and it was amazing. Based on the sushi competition around the area, their rolls are good. I've had sushi at Sushi Laco, King Wok, Ichiban Sushi, Kaze Sushi, Nikko etc... While I do echo what another reviewer mentioned, that the rolls are rice heavy, their actual rice is quite good. What most people don't consider when eating sushi is how good the rice is by itself. Some of the aforementioned sushi restaurants don't have great rice.. either it is dry, not plump enough, or grainy. Sushi Cafe's rice is pretty good. I also like the menu choices, especially the Korean items. The reason for minus 1 star are: 1) rolls are a little rice heavy... would like to see more inside components 2) their spicy tuna/spicy salmon is simply just spicy sauce (saw some red pepper flakes) drizzled inside the salmon/tuna. I feel cheated with this one. 3) the soy sauce didn't taste like premium soy sauce. wonder if it is the reason they put it on the sauce containers so they don't have to disclose what type of soy sauce it is. it looked & tasted a bit watered down. i noticed that once i put some wasabi in it, it didn't thicken up, which i know it does with Kikkoman 4) i am really nit picking here but the wasabi & ginger was not separated with my takeout. some restaurants are kind enough to put that fake looking grass wall so your wasabi doesn't rub off on your sushi. well mine did. All in all, if I were to pick from any of the restaurants i mentioned above, i would pick sushi café. I just need to make sure i don't order the spicy salmon/tuna & i bring some extra Kikkoman soy sauce packets from home. read more

We went there last Friday with my husband. there were live band singing great song. Atmosphere was so good and sushi and rolls were very fresh. I could tell that they use good ingredients. We had honeymoon roll, mango roll, and Philadelphia roll. Philadelphia roll was so classic, honeymoon roll was very good there were lemon and honey on the roll which gives sweet soft crunchy but very citrus refreshing. I went here for lunch on a Wednesday. The majority of the menu is 50% off, and the rest of the days of the week there is a 6.99 bento box lunch deal. Needless to say, this ends up being an amazing deal. The fish is very fresh and the rolls are solid. I highly recommend the spicy tuna hand roll. Also, if sitting at the sushi bar doesnt suit your fancy, then try to get there before noon because the place has very limited table seating and gets packed. Service was attentive and friendly. Ordered take out based on all the high Yelp reviews and after tasting their sushi have no idea why this place is getting 4 stars, sushi was awful. Ordered basic Cal roll, yellow tail & spicy Tuna and they were all very tiny. Like another Yelper commented, all the sushi had just too much rice, that's all I tasted. Not worth the $ when ur getting tiny amount of fish content. Cal roll had barely any crab meat or avocado. Yellow tail was ok, nothing to write home about. Spicy Tuna was dreadful, don't know what kind of spice they used but it had a bitter taste. Was the worst spicy Tuna I've ever ate, inedible and had to throw out half the roll. This place is suppose to specialize in sushi (perhaps their fancier sushi's are better but I'd avoid ordering traditional sushi from this place) but Asian Delight makes better sushi. read more

I usually love this place but the last two times have been pretty bad. Today specifically I requested the Kano salad and asked for no sesame seeds or masago. I've literally ordered this for over a year maybe even two once a week and I never have problems. Apparently, the chef didn't want to make it because he had already made a large batch which wasn't fair. Then, he made it without the sesame seeds but the masago was on top. I mentioned it and the person took the masago off the top leaving some on the salad and took away a good amount of cucumber. They were very nasty and I plan to call and speak to the owner when he comes in. I'm very upset as I've sent a lot of people here, I have people with allergies and the were just nasty about it and didn't care. read more

We were seated at a table for two. Nice interior and clean bathroom. Made reservations, seated quickly but was not provided with menus. Took a few minutes to flag someone down for menus. Place was packed when we got in at 7pm. After receiving our menus, our server seemed attentive and friendly. Some of the servers appeared new, inexperienced. Ordered shumai for appetizer, 1 order of seafood udon, and 3 rolls - yellowtail, outta control roll, and tuna. Sushi came first, I questioned the appetizer which hadn't come yet. Then the udon came and I asked about the appetizer again. Started on our entrees then the appetizer came and eventually a 2nd order for shumai came which I'm assuming accidentally 2 orders were put in. The 2nd order was on the house. The outta control roll had a nice kick to it. Seafood udon had some octopus sliced into it which I enjoyed and am not used to having. Our total bill was $45. Went here last night because it was recommended by a friend. When writing reviews I tend to steer away from commenting about the service because at the end of the day, I'm there for the food, not the waitress. BUT, i have to comment on my waitress forgetting one of the three rolls that I ordered. It wasn't busy, and I did make myself very clear on the order, so there was no reason to completely forget a roll and then add it to the check. ANYWAY, this had to be the worst sushi I had ever had. I have experienced many different sushi restaurants and this was by far the worst. My girlfriend ordered a Spicy Tuna roll and it tasted/smelled like pure cigarette. She couldn't even look at it. My shrimp tempura roll was ok. I also ordered a Boston roll and honestly, I don't even know what the hell it tasted like. Being that it wasn't our waitresses fault that the sushi was horrendous, we decided not to complain, take basically our entire order to go and toss it to the curb once we walked out the door. We couldn't wait to get out of there! Save yourself the trip and go to East Gate in Verona instead. Much better quality, tasty, professionally displayed, REAL sushi. Been sitting here for 20 minutes. When we arrived the kid at the front said "sit anywhere you find a seat". So we sat ourselves. Not one person cared to ask us if we wanted menus, water. So we grab menus from the front. Then another couple gets sat, offered water, menus. So I ask the same guy that helped the new couple, "who can we place an order with?" He answers, "with me, I'll be right back". Then ANOTHER COUPLE comes and is sat, menus given, he even starts telling them about specials.. REALLY?! So after that super fine nonexistent service for 20 minutes, my friend and I decide to leave. But before leaving I go up to the servers and say "we've been sitting for 20 minutes and you haven't acknowledged us once, but you did decide to show great service to two other couples who came after us". He stammers and says he's been stuck at the front. Not true. Anyway I hope those other patrons leave a great review. The Worst! Rude. Disorganized. Horrible. I have been here twice. The first time ordered some kind of noodle dish and it came with chicken. Being a vegetarian I never ordered the chicken they took the dish and picked off the chicken as there were still chicken bits in my food when they returned it and they did not add the missing vegetables. The next trip I ordered another vegetarian dish and while it was good the portion was not small it was tiny. I say tiny because I eat very small portions to begin with so this was not me being a pig and wanting a huge portion. It was tiny. My son ordered food and his portion small as well and he left hungry. The decor is very nice and the music is nice too. You just don't get what you ordered or what you paid for. I think if they listen to their customers and the other reviews on here they can stabilize and bring up their ratings. read more

I found this place by accident. I intended to go to Nori Sushi but it didn't open for dinner for another half an hour, so I yelped sushi places in the area and decided to try this place.. I fell in love, the Hand rolls ruined me for all other Hand rolls... Something so simple done to perfection.. The seaweed was freshly toasted bringing out the aromas.. the fish was fresh and perfectly cut... We also had sashimi and it was perfection, even ate the egg which I usually dislike. The Flower roll (no rice) was made with pickled cucumbers, it gave it a nice extra taste, and it was jam packed with fish! The best I've had! In short, I fell in love with this place.
