I was in the neighborhood and came in to grab a quick lunch. The restaurant has nice decor and the service was quick. I got a chirashi which was pretty good. The sashimi was fresh and tasty. It's $25 so don't expect a super fancy chirashi with ingredients like uni and salmon roe. It has salmon, tuna, fluke, tamago, shrimp, and imitation crab sticks. It got the job done and I would come back again next time I'm in the area.

What is happening? Ordered two rolls for myself and salmon teriyaki ($19) for the kids See photo of rolls and video because I just don't get how someone would allow such a sad excuse for a sushi roll be served out of any "sushi" establishment: loosely wrapped, dinky and just sad The actual inside was fine in terms of taste but c'mon..... thee second I picked me up the wrap was falling apart and the inside noticeably filled poorly. Plenty of other options nearby for a better value: Sushi Laco is tons better. The rice dish was prepared just fine and taste was good but not a $19 dish by any means. Verdict: Overpriced with no intention behind the execution

My boyfriend and I ordered three rolls from Sushi Cafe for delivery one weekend night from Grubhub and waited around 45-55 minutes for the order to arrive (as estimated). We were excited when the sushi arrived through contactless delivery and immediately dug in. Needless to say, the sushi was pretty darn good. We ordered the salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Tokyo Roll. The salmon and tuna fish in the sushi tasted fresh and soft and super yummy along with the avocado. The rolls were pretty decently priced and we thoroughly enjoyed our sushi meal. We will definitely be ordering from this place again in the near future and possibly trying other rolls!

Way too much rice. We ordered a bunch of rolls for a quick dinner. It was cheap (6ish a roll) but the ratio of fish to rice was way off. I don't mind eating a smaller sized roll with less rice but that was not the case! I wouldn't order from here again. Sushi laco is way better!

I first ate here 5 years ago when I moved here and was extremely disappointed with the mediocre sushi. I decided to give them another chance and I stand by my opinion. The rolls are mediocre and continues to be rice heavy and the fish is tiny. Not worth the money. Will continue to go out of my way to West Orange for sushi.

Sushi Café is the best sushi in town! Their specialty rolls are to die for! The owner Paul is the man! Must try the volcano roll!

My friends and I were looking for a place for lunch and we came across this place.. I think they…read moreare famous for their omakase at dinner time.. so we just want to try it out and see what it is like.. We went right when they open.. and they have a small parking lot behind the building so parking might turn into an issue if there are more people? The staff was nice, so you order at the counter and then you sat down and they will bring the food to you.. the place wasn't crazy big.. I would say maybe 4 tables or so and chair by the counter? They do have different kind of bubble tea so if you like.. the lunch menu was small, maybe they really put their focus on dinner? I ordered the salmon don, and my friends both ordered the chirachi don.. To be honest, the food took a while to come.. and the portion was ok.. I was hoping the fish was bigger, but then I guess it's lunch.. they also gave us a roll on the house while we were waiting.. the food taste good.. nothing too crazy, but I guess I have to come back for dinner to see if the hype is real..

I went with the 12 piece Omakase without Eel and enjoyed every piece (no soy sauce or wasabi, just chefs choice). My husband loved the Umai Big Special roll. Service was great. No rushing like many NJ restaurants and very helpful servers. Our high top table was right next to the sushi bar so we could see and hear what was going on. Next visit I definitely want to be at the bar. The restaurant is small and intimate. Definitely lots of "regulars" with relationship with the owner/chef. He was very friendly to us from afar. I would love to be a regular, it's just too pricey for my weekly budget but definitely worth every penny. If you eat sushi in NJ you've got to try it. Plus there's a great video about the restaurant and owner I found online.
