The sunshine roll is great. The miso soup is avg at best but overall the sushi is worth the visit. Best sushi in Fort Greene!

Went here again last night and had more spicy tuna rolls, which were again great because they have tempura flakes on top so that they are a little crunchy. Also had the chicken shogayaki, which is chicken breast in sake, ginger and scallion sauce. It was sweet and gingery and it came with lots of broccoli and onions, which are my favorites. The pork and vegetable dumplings were again the perfect appetizer. I had to raise my rating to a 4 from a 3. I left stuffed and satisfied. read more

A friend and I came in here for some drinks and some sushi. It was pretty empty, and the sake wasn't exactly hot (I like it steaming hot), I told the waitress and she glady warmed up the next bottle to perfection. The spicy tuna was actually really tasty, but I couldnt get over all the fruit flies flying around our table...there were a bunch in there, and while not exactly disgusting (they arent regular flies or maggots), they were annoying and enough to put a damper on eating...I also dnt know where they were all coming from, but cleaning with bar/restaurant by spraying ammonia in a bottle would kill them. The bomb digitiy of sushi joints especially for a neighborhood joint... very laid back, great service and oh yeah, very very good sushi... always a great place to get your sushi fix. they also have great non fish items... like steak and chicken... my kind of joint. read more

Great food, and multiple vegetarian options, which many sushi restaurants are lacking in. Had the pumpkin appetizer, avocado and peanut roll for dinner, and fried ice cream for dessert. Reasonable prices and quick service. Definitely a stand out on Dekalb Ave. read more

I was really disappointed in this place. Lately, I have been hearing a lot of good things about them. How they are the only decent, if not a little pricey sushi restaurant in the area. So I finally gave in, and ordered the roast duck Ramen and a few separate pieces of sashimi. Also everything tasted decent enough, and the fish itself seemed pretty fresh, I was pretty shocked to not only find a bone in my sashimi (not in the actual piece of fish, but some sort of random looking bone laid in between two different slices of fish), but a piece of hair as well. Long, straight hair. Definitely not my own. Not only am I finding items in my food that should not be there, but it wasn't even all that for being so expensive. $30 for Ramen and three pieces of sashimi... No thank you read more

I had a bad feeling when they delivered the free edamame and it was wilted and brownish. But then the service was so nice and so was the sushi! They promoted their special roll which was a salmon-avocado-tuna-eel-cucumber-shrimp-tempura-roe something or other but was delish! So were the spicy eggplant app and the standard rolls we had as well. This is an eminently decent and reasonably priced sushi restaurant in a nabe not known for great Asian fare. read more

Decent and deliverable sushi that is unbelievably cheap!

Didn't know what to expect but we were served fresh, buttery fish and crunchy vegetables. Highly recommended.

I have to say, I'm happy every time I drop by this place. The service is friendly, they have both indoor and outdoor seating and the sushi is just simple, fresh and great. Just to be clear: I'm not some sort of sushi or Japanese food aficionado. From some of the negative reviews here, it seems like Sushi D doesn't serve "real" Japanese food. However, I know a lot of people from the West Coast who wouldn't even go near any of the sushi in NYC because they swear that fish on the West Coast is better & fresher. So, I think this is one of those things that just depends on your past experiences and expectations. I don't really expect authentic Japanese food in Fort Greene- I just want tasty food. If you're just looking for good food at a reasonable price on Dekalb, then this is a great place in my opinion. I actually live much closer to 2 other sushi places on Myrtle Ave. I've been to both, and still go out of my way to go to Sushi D. The food here tastes fresher, and the ambiance is a nice break from the craziness of places like Madiba and the overwhelming hipness of every other restaurant on Dekalb. I've been here somewhere between 5 and 10 times with my husband and we've never had much trouble with the service. I can remember one time where our food seemed to take forever to come out, and they're not all that great on refilling without being reminded. All in all, I enjoy coming here & would recommend it. read more

Came in for a quick out of the blue lunch. Had the salmon teriyaki lunch meal. Great to see I could substitute the white rice for brown. Very tasty and service was excellent. Will be back. read more

sushi d is delicious! i mostly order delivery but the atmosphere in the restaurant is nice too. always an interesting choice of music playing. i would strongly recommend the salmon asparagus salad (really simple but delicious!) the d' roll, caterpillar and sunset. yummmm. :o) read more

Sushi D. the best of the worst array of choices. Another example of why Japanese food made by non-Japanese people is bound to be sub-par. The fish is not a quality Japanese people would serve, but is at least adequate. Also, do not order any of the cooked food, I ordered chicken Yakisoba, which did not taste like any Yakisoba I've ever had, and i've been to Japan thank you. Maybe they should take a trip? I've been to this place a couple of times and thought the sushi was ok- not spectacular and not terrible. BUT we have ordered delivery and TWICE they have cancelled our order on us after we already ordered because they were too busy. they used the excuse that we are too far away. and their wasabi isnt spicy at all. beat place. read more

still not my fav but best in its area. lots of veggie sushi options & other interesting specials. go for rolls rather than sashimi here, & get spicy mayo on the side. the udon is mediocre, but still always good for curing cold-add some chilli pepper. outside seating area & interior is nice, the staff is friendly, just started taking cards which is a plus, also delivers, but sushi delivery is always quite mediocre. they do have my favorite beer & sake, and the hideout is just around the corner. read more

Sushi D is our favorite restaurant in Fort Greene! It's great for quick weeknight take-out Yaki Udon noodles or for a weekend all-out sushi dinner with a group. Pretty typical American Japanese fare, but the service has always been great and their food is really solidly good. Happy to be regulars! read more

Great spot if you are craving straight up sushi rolls. (The hamachi and jalapeno is especially tasty.) Prices are great as well and the friendly staff is a nice added bonus. read more

sushi d has seen me through break-ups, drunken brawls, family deaths, bike accidents, damn near everything that doesnt kill me draws me here for sushi. it could be that i used to live in the neighborhood but hell, i STILL ride my bike all the way here in oppressive summertime heat just to sit and enjoy the food and the amazing servers. the servers! my god, the servers. they are so sweet and friendly you genuinely think that they are happy to see you. everything you want/need is brought quickly and with a smile which sadly seems like a rare thing these days in the bk. their sushi is fresh and their special rolls inventive. they have a wide array of non-sushi things to choose from as well like excellent teriyakis and a seared tuna entree over a bed of greens. they serve beer and have a good, solid, cheap wine list. the food is really inexpensive for how good it is. f'real. read more

Inexpensive, fresh, friendly - my only complaint about this joint was that they opened during my 6th month of pregnancy, at the height of my yen for all things raw which were then vorboten. Nononono. This place used to be good, especially the udon on a cold day, but it's gone DOWN HILL. The service is good, but the food is terrible and is moving into a weird pan-asian style. We ate there last Saturday around 5:00 pm. The food were great but unfortunately the waitress ruin it. The service was bad. Instead of keep attention to our table, she was busy talking w/ coo worker.
