One of the Best for Sushi It's a tie between Yumi and Sushi Fix because I prefer Yumi and my husband prefers Sushi Fix. They both have decadent, interesting, and large sushi plates that are incredibly savory. Anytime we want sushi, these two are the top of our list when we can afford it. The staff is super friendly as well, they'll try and get you in as fast as possible and take care of you while you're there. I recommend trying it if you're into sushi! Ambiance is clean, a little loud, but in a good, busy way. Going here in winter is like a cozy hug from your loud aunt.

This was our first time trying out Sushi Fix. We thought it would be a fun date night and head to Wayzata on a Sunday evening. Would highly recommend getting here right when it opens. We were able to get a spot at the sushi bar within about 5 minutes of coming but it took over an hour to get our food after ordering. I started with green tea which came in a cool heavy teapot. We got the calamari salad and gyoza apps to start. The calamari salad was good and reminded me of ceviche. It was a raw and cold salad. The gyoza was ok. We stuck with all rolls for our entrees. We were recommended the Screaming "O" as the most popular roll on the menu. It was wrapped in tin foil and heated with a torch. Highly recommend this one!! We also tried the BooBoo. Also really good but not as good as the first one. A little spicier. We ended with the mochi ice cream and tried 3 different flavors. So good. Overall had an ok experience. Our server was nice but seemed really busy and didn't check on us too often. Would potentially go back but will probably try other sushi places before making the drive to Wayzata again due to the cost and how long it took to get our food.

We visited sushi fix at about 530 on a Friday night. Upon arrival there were plenty of seats so I had no problem getting in. However, it definitely was filling up by six and if you plan on going any later than that on a weekend I would plan on a wait. The restaurant is in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking available. Interior is split into two rooms, one with bar and one with sushi bar prep area. Try to get seated on the sushi side. The menu is extensive with a variety of Japanese dishes and sushi. Obviously with sushi as the highlight of their offerings. We opted for edamame, miso soup, a sushi sampler and a variety of rules for our party of four. The sushi was the stand out with the fish being extremely fresh, and the portions very large. For drinks we chose two cocktails and wine offerings within our party of four. The cocktails were strong, and the wine pours were generous. Overall the food was very good and the stand out of the experience. Prices were potentially a little higher than other sushi spots but with the generous portions it seemed comparable. Onto the service. This is the piece that left us wondering if we would be back and the reason for the rating. While they did not appear to be understaffed, our waiter was less than attentive throughout our to our visit to sushi fix and there were times where he seemed to disappear from the entire restaurant for extended amounts of time. While we were eating, this wasn't a huge deal other than drinks getting a little low or running out. However, towards the end of the meal, when it was clear that we were finished with food and drinks, he seemed to disappear again leaving us waiting for 20+ min for a bill. I don't know if we got a newer server or something else was going on but it was enough for both me and my partner to separately comment on it after we exited. Overall, location was convenient, food was excellent, service was considerably less than stellar.

So first off the only reason they didn't get a 5 star was the wasabi it was weak!!! very weak besides that the service was awesome our waitress Lilian was fast attentive and took care of us perfectly . The setting is right out of Tokyo but in Minnesota . Now for the sushi well the ingredients are seriously fresh and the sushi chefs 4 tonight are the real deal fun to watch but the star here is the sushi it was the best I have ever had in this country. I highly recommend this place we stopped in for a quick bite and had a meal big rolls and not all rice .I had a spicy California roll and my wife had a lobster roll her roll was a tempura shrimp roll with huge chunks of lobster in it . My roll was mainly crab REAL CRAB no imitation here reall had an enjoyable time they also have a great bar if you're in to that.

I love this place. So simple, no crazy wait lines like Billy's sushi downtown Minneapolis, although a sister restaurant with almost identical rolls. This is my go to sushi. Love the usual caterpillar rolls, ninja rolls, Jackie Chan roll. Coming here at least once a month to get my sushi fix :)

    Wagyu nigiri

The food was ok. The service really needs improvement. I ordered 3 rounds: premium nigiri plate, a lobster handroll with "Wagyu bacon", and the Wagyu nigiri. The premium nigiri was simple well presented and was carefully considered and cut. The lobster handroll with "wagyu bacon" was kind of icky: they use the grizzle and trimmings they collect during the night and call it "Wagyu bacon". It's chewy/knotty and too tough to bite through. The worst thing about the lobster roll round was it was despite me getting to the restaurant at 7:30 it was 8:30pm by the time that roll came out because the service was terribly slow, and the restaurant was already closing the kitchen and vacuuming and cleaning out the sushi bar by then even though they advertise they are open until 9pm. I already felt rushed, and the waitress didn't even let me finish. As I took a bite she came over and interrupted me with a full mouth to try to hurry me and get me the check. The sushi chef apologized and tried to recover, and I wanted disparately not to leave with that "wagyu bacon" texture being what I remembered. I ordered the Wagyu nigiri hoping to redeem the experience. As I lifted the roll to my mouth the busboy came down the sushi bar and sprayed the glass, my face, and my food with windex window cleaner. It was 8:47, and I left with the taste of ammonia in my mouth. I didn't drink any cocktails and spent about $150 on the food alone. Terrible service and okay food - giving a 2nd star because the sushi chef apologized and the nigiri plate was acceptable. Here's a screen shot of my ammonia covered Wagyu at 8:47pm.

We came here for a double date with our freinds and we're seated at the sushi bar(in front of where they roll the sushi). We waited about 30 min for a seat and about 45min for the sushi after we ordered. The sushi itself was amazing. They had tons of choices and we chose 2 rolls of sushi and a bunch of the sashimi/nigiri. It was amazing food. The ambience was astounding. Low lighting with no music made the vibe great. Johnny, Koo and Jackie kept us entertained with jokes and a good time. This was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back!

Go treat yourself to some bomb a$$ sushi! Chefs and service were awesome. I've been here many times and live a little over an hour away just to have sushi here!

    Specialty roll

The food here is incredible! I've had many rolls while I've been here and I can definitely say the boo boo and wayzata Trojan are my personal favorites. The hand rolls here are amazing too. The servers are very nice. This is a little hole in the wall in Wayzata and love coming here. I highly recommend this place for a good sushi restaurant.

It's been too long since last visit. Their sushi is outstanding! Started with jalapeño hamachi which are think and tasty with fresh jalapeños. We then crushed the Wayzata Trojan and 2-14 soy paper rolls and were stuffed! Service is great, sushi chefs are chatty, only ding is the price, but their fish is amazing. The space is warm and not too crowded with a separate bar area making the ambiance nice.

Street parking can be hard to come by in downtown Wayzata, but the parking garage behind Sakana had numerous open spots. Sakana can be accessed from this garage without going outdoors. We arrived just before 4:30 and were seated in a nice booth. There were not that many other patrons, but the place was almost full by the time we left at 5:45. We each ordered the 8-pc Spicy Girl specialty roll, and I added a Shrimp Tempura Roll. Once we finished, we burnt our tongues on an order of Spring Rolls straight from the oven. I'm pretty sure that HH pricing is at least 30% off, and a nice glass of white wine was $6, and a decent 12-oz can of craft beer was only $3! I made sure to leave an extra large tip for our helpful waitress. This could become a regular HH haunt for us, especially given that other west metro HHs seem to have declined quite a bit over the past few years.

The noodles were perfectly cooked and almost melted in your mouth, and the broth was incredible. Our server recommended the Mancora roll, which ended up being delicious, and the salmon tiraditos were phenomenal. Super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. The spicy tuna roll was really good too, but definitely has a kick, so just a heads up if you're sensitive to spice. The drinks are also a highlight. The cocktails are fun and the pisco options are a cool change from your typical menu. Service was great. Friendly, helpful, and gave solid recommendations. This is NOT a review for dinner, this is a review for sitting at the bar, having some nibbles and drinks, and learning what they do and how they do it. Food: The ceviche is genuinely solid. It is not a large portion for the price point, but, the leche de tigre is a good balance of coconut, sweetness, and lime, the fish is fresh, and if you ask for it spicy, there are good hot peppers on it, The fried yuca, meh. It's OK, it's yuca, it's fried, it soaks up pisco. the sauce served with it should fall upon its sword. Drink: I really appreciated the chance to try multiple piscos, distilled from the same grape, but with different terroir. I could taste it and that was super cool. Also, I tried out the chica sour and I am modestly convinced that the sours are the way to go here, my reason for wanting to come back is those cocktails. Lovely foam, great sour/sweet/booze balance, I could drink several of these (and I SHOULDN'T, this is the suburbs and I have to drive). Service: I sat down at the bar and nobody gave me an actual MENU until the third time they asked "do you need anything?" and then I pointed out that you have to give the guest a menu if you want him to order stuff. Bro. Also, when I ask for a water without ice, maybe you shouldn't put ice in it? You know, just a thing, not a complex recipe? This is kinda remarkable bc they have 4 ppl behind the bar, at 5pm, at the time I'm typing this. This is not an understaffed establishment. Does nobody here understand basics? And finally, OK, price. Yes, I am in Hopkins, it has very wealthy white ppl, I know. But wow, I had two appetizers and two drinks and I;m in for $80? Perhaps this is reasonable bc fish, but only one of those 4 things had fish in it. I am fairly confident that we are playing the "white people don't know, charge them all the dollars" game, and I am annoyed that this means that I as brown people can't come back here reliable. That is a pity bc there is good stuff above I want to explore.

Our server was polite and attentive, taking our order soon after seating us and delivering everything promptly. We ordered: - Japanese Shumai: served hot, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, these were such a good bite! I could've eaten 20! Pro tip: I recommend ordering two servings if you're considering this app. - Chicken Fried Rice: a generous portion served with house-made yum yum sauce, complemented our sushi rolls perfectly. - Royal Dragon Roll: King crab, shrimp tempura and cream cheese topped with eel, avocado, spicy mayo & eel sauce. - Firecracker Roll: Shrimp tempura, snow crab, avocado topped with spicy tuna, spicy sriracha mayo.
