First thing I noted, the place is sooo small. There was 3 of us and there's only one table that fits more than 2 people. The staff was nice. It does take a while for your food to be made since they make each order individually but that doesn't necessarily mean it's fresh. That being said it wasn't bad! Mid tier sushi. Put in a doordash pick up order and waited an hour. Went up to the lady at the front and she proceeded to ignore me for 5 minutes until finally asking me annoyed what I was there for. I showed her my doordash pickup and she said she would barely start making the order after another customer's. I went and sat back down near the register and waited another fifteen minutes when I got a notification that my order was canceled without her even telling me anything. Was also overpriced, the make your own bowl was listed as $7.99 but that price didn't even include any fish, that cost $5.25 extra. There was two girls working. I usually come in here frequently because I love sushi, and dont complain about slow or rude service anywhere. But today there was one girl working who I found rude. She had an airpod in and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times when ordering. She was rude when talking to us and after our order was done she tossed our food bag towards us and went back without saying anything. First time trying this restaurant. Situated off Coors, in the Sprouts shopping center. Parking is a little complicated at times, because it's in a mini shopping area. If you want to park close, it may take some effort. The restaurant didn't have indoor seating when I visited. Only because during these uncertain times, dining indoors is hard to come by. They have several choices here where you can pick one of the following: create your own roll, poké bowl or burrito. Then you pick your protein, then fillings and then you get to top it off with whatever sauce or other toppings you'd like. For my first visit I tried getting the Poké Bowl. I chose tuna to be my protein, everything else was the usual items that go into a Poké bowl. Myself and other patrons at the store, we were all trying to be as patient as possible but some of the employees did not know what they were doing. They were running into each other's space while making the customer's food. Plus, the items offered were not labeled. So when the customer would point and ask what is that. Employees would know, instead of asking another employee what it was. I decided to order some seaweed salad to go with my Poké bowl. And only one employee knew what I was speaking about. Usually some places include it as part of your meal, but this was an extra charge. Not sure if I'll be back here to try anything else on their menu. But this place offers the convenience of choosing your own sushi, poké bowls and burritos. They do offer other types of rolls and burritos on their menu. read more

Just had an unfortunate experience. Got done with a workout and decided on a poke bowl. Arrived at Sushi Freak at 7:15 pm knowing that they closed at 9:00 pm. There was a hand written sign on the door saying that they were "closing early at 8:00 pm due to staff shortage". Opened the door and the person behind the counter looked at me with a slight scowl as he was preparing a roll. I asked if they were still open. He mumbled something unintelligible without looking up. A few of us opted to stop in here before checking out the La Cumbre westside location. It wasn't very busy when we arrived but a huge line formed by the time we were getting ready to leave. I really just wanted some veggies so got a poke bowl with spring mix, spicy tuna, and other fixings. I wish they had some suggested combos for the poke bowl, that would be especially helpful for people who don't do it too often. I also normally do a half and half of spring mix and brown rice but they didn't have brown rice which I found a little odd. Probably for the better since I got my rice filling from the sushi i snagged from the rest of the party. We ended up getting a pretty good sampling of the menu and it was all extremely fresh and flavorful. I think the rest of the table got the gyoza (super good!), a crunchy shrimp roll (Crunch), the Sumo, the Crazy, and the Waikiki. The Waikiki was...strange. Not my cup of tea at all- toasted coconut, pineapple, cream cheese, crunchy shrimp. It was good for what it was but a slightly sweet sushi roll is just not right to me. I do give them credit for being a bit different though. The Sumo was a really good combo but I think The Crazy was my favorite- especially if you like spicy. We had no problems with the rolls falling apart as I've seen in other reviews. I also thought the prices were very reasonable - sushi anywhere else would cost a whole lot more and I believe most of the rolls were under $9. read more

I really enjoy their poke bowls. I always get spicy tuna. They are reasonably priced and big! It's nice to get a bowl and take it to La Cumbre next door and enjoy the sunshine. The only reason I took away a star is because they've been really inconsistent in the portions of toppings and protein. Also, it can be a long wait and a bit chaotic. I recommend ordering ahead. I slathered that tasty orange colored sauce all over it which was flavorful, and essential for me to eat the rest. That being said, my daughter had the california roll, and it was ok, too. The Shrimp Tempura was good, I like that they battered it with Panko and made it crunchy. The rice was a little hard. As a Pacific Islander I know my rice, lol. Okay, so I've gone again. I was sorely disappointed this go round. I go in, one person in front of me. They are doing great at following the guidelines so I feel confident in my choice. I place my order, three things. It takes forever, a door dash guy comes in to pick up an order, they don't have it and proceed to make his food prior to mine so he can go. My two rolls took 20 minutes to make...wait did you catch that two rolls, I ordered THREE things. I didn't get the third and by the time they finished I didn't even care. I paid and left. The rolls fell apart and they put tons of wasabi in the container, not usually an issue, but so much that the rolls were literally bathed in it. It was difficult to eat them. We tried this place last night for the first time, and everything looked nice at first, but once we were there watching the guys prepare everyone's food, we were a little worried. They were all young, 20-something boys working, which is fine, but much like their rooms, typically.. the preparation surface had scraps and remnants of food EVERYWHERE. They were using knives that visibly had food all over them to cut fish, then avocado, then the sushi rolls.. no wiping or disinfecting. Just straight from the tin with all the OTHER dirty knives to your food. I would not have said anything on here, but this morning I woke up with a sour stomach, and that was the only thing I had eaten last night. If you love sushi avoid this place at all costs. Almost every roll on the menu has imitation Krab or cream cheese, and frankly a grocery store deli has better sushi. Even the rice is messed up and if they used any rice vinegar, white sugar, and salt to season it they used so little you can't tell. Now what was really bizarre is I asked for my sushi roll to eat there, but they still wrap it to go and waste all sorts of plastic. These kids seemed surprised when I asked for soy sauce and wasabi, like "oh you want that?" I eventually waited for that long enough that I just said screw it and took my paper wrapped sushi home where I have the accoutrements. It's worse than just that though. Went back twice to make sure it wasn't an anomaly, but the people working there are decidedly unhappy to see you walk though the door.
