I had go back and order the Mushu dish with pork. The perfect time of day and a bit more chilly than before so we sat inside. Me and my dining companion came here on Sunday and were greeted instantly, and got sat in a booth towards the back. I took in the ambiance and noticed the restaurant was pretty spacious, the tables/booths were decently sized so you have enough space for your things or if you want to spread out. The theme and decor seemed to be Hawaiian so that interesting. While waiting for our waiter I overheard the man who sat us telling another table that Sunday was all day happy hour, which he never told us about but I'm glad I overheard it. So once our waiter came, I asked him to confirm. I got the lemon grass pear martini, which was made perfectly, and was absolutely delicious. It was my favorite of the night! For the appetizers, we got Shanghai shrimp, it came with two dips (mint cilantro dip and not sure what the other one was). The other appetizer we got where the dumplings. The inside was pork and vegetables (Shanghai, dipping sauce, but tasted like sauce sauce). Both appetizers were delicious, I'd definitely order again. For our entrees, I ordered the Sesame chicken it came with broccoli and I got white rice, it was perfect, and everything I wanted! I'm glad our waiter confirmed because I was stuck between that and the red curry beef. My dining companion ordered the rice paper salmon, which comes with mango, pineapple, salsa, Shanghai sauce, and sweet cucumbers. We came here on a Monday night a few weeks ago and it was nice and pleasant because it wasn't too busy and we got a table with a beautiful view as it got dark outside. We also got a parking spot up front, but I will say parking in the front, the spaces were a little tight. The calamari was pretty good with the lime might sauce. I was a little surprised at how tasty it was. My girlfriend always gets the Shaking Beef here and I've had her leftovers many of times from another location and they usually over sauce it. Over here, it was just right. The fish part of my Fish & Chips were very good. The Sriracha aoli paired well with it, I didnt touch the tartar sauce. Shoe string fries, not my thing. Would like like a bit bigger portion size on the fish though. That's probably why its server with such small skinny fries, to balance out the fish portion size. I don't go here often. So I decided to go back. I remembered getting the Singapore Noodles and enjoying it. Then I remembered how long ago that was. And how I how I had been going once a year to get that dish. I remember it never being as good. Then it occurred to me why I hadn't been there in a long time. Because it wasn't good. The noodles were rubbery. The curry was chunky and gritty and It did not taste good. The spareribs appetizer was OK but not great. They were not very flavorful like an asian style sparerib should be. I love this venue. Impeccable design and attention to detail. You really get the sensation of the South Pacific. I ordered the Kung Paso chicken (it's made with cashews here). A prickly pear mojito and my husband and I shared the appetizer tempura. I should have stuck with a regular mojito, not that this prickly pear was not tasty, I just prefer the original flavor. It was pretty , too! See the pic. Tempura was done well, although the sweet potato was a little too raw and hard. Onions, broccoli, red and green peppers were super. The shrimp was meh. Kung pao was tasty but a little heavy on the fish sauce. At least that what it tasted like to me. If you don't lie that flavor, you may want to ask that it not be used. They suggested on the menu that you can ask, if I remember correctly. My husband had the teriyaki chicken. He ate it all. So must have been good. Service was efficient, friendly and calm. I went to Jinja on the west side, not too long ago, and I actually really enjoyed it. The views from this spot are fantastic, such great mountainscapes can be seen from the window booths here. We weren't able to enjoy the patio but next time I would love to check it out. The drinks were great, I shared a punch bowl with my grandma and we had a ton of fun. I was also a huge fan of the dessert options specifically the monthly special cheesecake. Everyone ordered a different dish. We kind of shared family style but my favorite was the Mongolian beef, which was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp pad. Thai any honestly wasn't a huge fan. Took the family out for daughter-in-law's birthday. 6 adults and 3 kids. Kids have been taught to behave in restaurants as not every one is a "Chucky Cheese". It was a Tuesday after 7pm. We were placed in an isolated area with a table that seats 12. No problem. Our waitress was on molasses! Once drinks were ordered, we asked for more time to figure out what we all wanted. 30 minutes later she took our order. 45 minutes after that our dinners started to arrive in waves. Our drinks were empty by then. She misunderstood what was ordered for the 2 youngest and when their plates arrived, we explained we wanted the shrimp tempura in addition to the vegetable tempura that was served. Not in place of. She said she'd take care of it. 25 minutes later, the manager came by to say hello. The 5 year old stated he ordered shrimp and it hadn't come out yet. The manager went to the kitchen and brought it right out, but everyone else had finished eating. Our waitress came by to check on us about 15 minutes after the manager did. The kids dinners came with gelato and we indicated we were ready for them. She came back another 10 minutes after that and cleared our stacked plates and we said we were really ready for the gelato. It was another 15 minutes to settle the tab. As there was only a handful of tables the entire duration we were there, and because we had a larger group, we left 25%. We all wore Hawaiian shirts and leis and wanted to enjoy the rest of the evening. If it wasn't for that, I would have absolutely gone off. We've been there before and will continue to dine there, just with a no-bullshit attitude. The unacceptable service by one employee has ensured we won't choose this spot for any larger celebrations. read more

Saturday, February 18, 2023. Dinner. My wife and I visited here for a 7:30 PM dinner. Were seated immediately and the waiter, Timothy, took our order quite speedily. We ordered a baby calamari appetizer ($14.99) with flash fried crispy calamari, fried red and green bell peppers, and lime and mint dipping sauce. The calamari were tender inside that crispy breading, and the mint stood out nicely in the dipping sauce. For my main course, I had the Jinja bowl, $17.99. This consisted of sashimi grade tune, brown rice, fresh avocado, red bell peppers, Brussel sprouts and shelled edamame. This bowl tasted good and the ingredients were fresh, I just think a Poki Poki bowl tends to be even fresher and better tasting. We were seated by a window seat and had a relatively bleak view of cars driving down Coors Boulevard. I liked the fact that the food was fresh, I just think they were a bit overpriced, and the window view didn't wow me. read more

We had the large lettuce wrap, large Mongolian beef, Pad Thai, and large Heavenly beef. $87. I've got a long history with this restaurant. I've started coming here almost 20 years ago. It has always been a place to do their own thing. I used to go here to get a different take on Asian cuisine. This is still the mantra. But, they keep drifting further away from the food I like. I'm not sure it's worth your time reading about each of the dishes. Just know that they all tasted "old" (kind of like they have been sitting in the refrigerator too long). The lettuce wraps were heavy on a mushroom flavor that reminded us all of dried mushrooms that had been reconstituted. The Mongolian beef used to be my favorite here. But, it now is too sweet. Way too sweet. I could only bear to eat about half of it and only because the rice helped reduce the sweetness. It lost its smoky flavor and now tastes like corn syrup. The onions were overcooked and thusly added no flavor to the dish. The heavenly beef was the saving grace. Get this. With so many nice Vietnamese, Thai, and other Asian restaurants that have sprung up over the past decade I'd be surprised if I ever come back to try this different take on Asian cuisine again. read more

Albuquerque does not have an interesting food scene, especially in the Asian food department. Jinjer is the notable exception. The northwest location is convenient. The staff are friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking. The menu is gigantic and full of great choices. We had shrimp with red curry, mild with brown rice. And narrow chow fun noodles with vegetables and tofu and chicken. The cubes of seasoned and cooked tofu were extraordinary. Unlike I've ever anything I've ever eaten. Each piece is roughly the size of the Incredible Hulk's head. Super scrumptious. The food was ordered mild and in fact it was somewhere between a two and three on the spicy department so have your beverage of choice ready - portions are reasonable and prices are fair. So glad this was our most exciting meal in Albuquerque. read more

It was, no problems finding a parking place and no wait for seating. Our booth was in the bar, generally dark with lighting strategically placed. The decor was reminiscent of what you might expect in the South Pacific/Hawaiian Islands. Started with an order of pot stickers, nothing out of the usual. We ordered Orange Peel Beef with brown rice & Pad Thai. The Orange Peel beef was tender, cooked to medium rare. It needed some seasoning, the orange sauce was excellent but wasn't enough to carry the beef. The Pad Thai was just ok. Not the worst, but well removed from the best. I have visited this restaurant many times over the past few years. I enjoy this place very much. Took a few of my friends here since they've never tried it. Oh wow, they were so amazed with the engagement of the staff, food and libations. They told Jared that they will be coming back to try it again with their families. Located right off Coors Blvd. on the Westside. Situated on a little hillside where if you are sitting by the huge windows you'll see the Sandia Mountains in the distance. Very romantic at night. But we were too busy, having a good time to notice. Greeted by Jared, the friendly host in the front. And our server, Ernest, was pretty awesome as well! Always coming by to check on us. Love that! We got to start off with their signature libations; Gene's Mai Tai, Pain Killer and Duke's Blue Hawaiian, we were all very impressed with these drinks. Mostly because it was very strong. No disappointment here. We also started off with some delicious appetizers, Pot Stickers that were half steamed and half pan fried. So delicious!! Especially that dipping sauce that accompanied it. Crispy Vietnamese Spring Rolls were just as tasty with the dipping sauce as well. I tell you my friends were just having a blast with these appetizers and the drinks. After finishing up those appetizers we decided we'd try some of the entrees. We got Pad Thai noodles, Sesame Chicken and Vegetable Tempura. All entrees were very palate satisfying. my wife and I attempted to enjoy a dinner tonight. but the manager at this restaurant decided otherwise. I ordered a margarita with grand marnier on the side. The server said that was to much alcohol so I said ok. When my wife arrived she order Grand Marnier for her drink. Ok 2 people 2 drinks all ok. NOT! The manager observed me drinking a sip of my wife's drink. He came over and removed my wife's drink and said we were breaking the law. I am 74 my wife is 65 we do not come here to get drunk. I got to stop in during a cross country road trip a while back. This restaurant had some locations in Florida for a hot second many moons ago and I made it a point to grab lunch when driving through NM. The location is super accessible and easy to find. The interior is beautiful and cozy, definitely great for a group of people looking for old school Pacific island vibes. The girl who took my order was polite and friendly too, zero complaints there. I am but a simple girl and ordered my old default choice (shaking beef) and it was just as I expected and remembered. The flavor was tangy, the beef was tender, but the rice was a bit mushy. Not the worst thing in the world but it happens sometimes. It was a much needed bit of nostalgia for me either way. ABQ is lucky to have this spot for non-generic, mindfully thought out menus, at reasonable prices. I came here twice this week! A few friends and I came here to celebrate three of our birthdays! Our waiter was a young guy named Tim. He took good care of us. I recommend you ask for Tim when dining in. He helped us with our food and drink choices. I asked him to surprise me with a good birthday margarita and he did just that. Everything that he recommended tasted delicious. The ambiance is almost romantic not to dark and not to bright. The booths have throw pillows making your experience comfortable. The building has seating where you can also watch the sunset so be sure to ask specifically for a booth by the window if you're interested. We got a chance to meet the manager named Gina! She made sure we were good the whole night. The service was perfect... I have no complaints at all. I look forward to coming back. The chow fun noodles dish , that the menu brags about and once featured wide chewy smoky noodles , was replaced(without mentioning it) with the same sloppy noodles as they use in their coconut soup ? Speaking of coconut soup ... we ordered that too, and it was so bland and untraditionally packed with gummy noodles .... We did not eat it .... Not that our waiter took any notice ? Add Poor service to how this place is no longer appealing. We often go in on a Wednesday and order the sriracha shrimp for starters. The sauce is so good! Don't tell my husband but it does have aioli. He loves it! We often share an entree which is perfect for two. We love the steak frites which is served with Cristy thin French fries, a bed of rice and pickled cucumbers on the side. The meat is cooked to your liking. We have had a few other meat dishes and continue to try different entrees but always seem to order the shrimp. The management and staff are so warm and friendly!
