This is one of our favorite spots-- my wife and I love it, but our 21 and 17yos especially. Had lunch with the 17yo daughter today. We started with edamame, which is standard but always good, then she had clear soup and I had a house salad-- I love the ginger dressing. Then she had her favorite-- Chicken fried rice-- said it was delicious and ate every bit. And I had the monkey brain appetizer as my lunch, it was delicious and the service was great. Walked in the door and no one was there to greet or seat us just some lady who pointed at a hidden section with tables. Waited there for 10 minutes and no one came over to us to see if we needed menus or anything to drink. Another 10 minutes go buy and the waitress says can you please give me 5 minutes. 15 minutes later and still nothing to drink and I had to grab menus from someone who had just ordered. While I sat I watched 4 other tables get seated and menus given and drinks. This was a joke and waste of time would not go if you value your time. read more

Literally just left this location on behalf of a call in order that I did at 7:00pm . I was told that it would be ready in 20 minutes (I only ordered a crunch roll) went in after 20 minutes to pick up my food and gave the lady my name and waited an additional 25 minutes on top of the initial 20 and still nothing. No follow up or estimate just waiting, so I left. Only to receive a phone call from them at 8:00pm asking was I still going to come get my order ??? I've eaten at this restaurant 3x. And the only negative thing is the bathroom. Curb appeal is generic. On this visit (09/27/22) we ordered the vegetable Yaki soba. Mom loves it. Last time she ordered the same with chicken and the chicken was dry and flavorless. Both times we ordered the fried Gyoza. so good. The Tempura Shrimp were pretty good. Dirty. I have no idea what they are thinking but man, this spot had TANKED. Their rolls are tiny and they oughta be ashamed of that given the prices they charge, but the worst part is that their space is ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. There are food stains on the already crusty menus, the cloth napkins are stained, the glass separators are gross with mouth stains, spittle dots and finger prints spread all over. Just to tip you over the nasty edge, the alcoholic drinks are legit cheap syrups with liquor mixed in. The whole experience made me sick to my stomach... After YEARS of patronage- Yall can have it. Bomb sushi! I love sushi! I am always looking for sushi places to eat wherever I travel too, haha, and this place was delicious! A little on the expensive side but really yummy! I recommend! I don't remember what sushi rolls I got just that I got three and decoured them all! I know for sure one was a shrimp tempura roll and another spicy tina with jalapeños in it and it was sooo goood! Sushi Gen used to be our favorite spot. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty good. But perhaps they have been capitalizing on their success and upped their prices as a result? Bottom line: you'll get average to good sushi, but at above average prices. I would not recommend anything beyond their sushi, rolls, and appetizers. I like food in Sushi Gen. I love sushi and have been trying different places. Sushi Gen in Bossier city is great. Their soup is perfect for an empty stomach on a cold day. Sushi is great too. They offer great deal for lunch from Monday till Saturday. Their rice is really good too. Recommend rice for everyone if you wanna have something else besides sushi. Sushi, salami and roll are great. You will get soup or salad when you order your meal which is nice. Their Japanese salad dressing is kinda impressive. Staffs are friendly. Just no. I'll admit, I have been super hesitant to give this location another try, as none of my previous trips, to either location, have been impressive. I continued to see 5 star reviews both on yelp and facebook, some very strong praise and thought "maybe? just maybe?". Nope. I even had a friend come with me just to make sure it wasn't just me. The exact same issues remain. Super bland food, under-portioned, no value whatsoever. No consistency (saw the same roll hit 3 tables and each one looked different). The ingredients are prepared poorly, have no taste and based on how tiny some are, a complete ripoff. Crab has no mixture or too much (super volcano roll was ridiculous to try and eat blob on top on 4/6 of the rolls) Hawaiian roll - tuna is hot pink and poor quality with bland crab shooting out the sides, tiny. I also got a "Sunday morning" roll which was deep fried but was oozing with grease from fryer with thin tempura batter. Friend got yellow tail sashimi which was cut unnecessarily thick and had a very, very un-fresh aftertaste. I simply cannot understand why this is praised so highly. While Shreveport/Bossier doesn't have the greatest sushi ever overall, pretty much everything is better, by leaps in bounds. Maybe its convenience? I cannot attest enough for others to simply try other sushi in town, compare roll for roll and see how much more is out there. read more

We walked into a packed place. We weren't sure about eating there because we were hungry and they were super busy. Didn't have time to waste. Then, workers kicked into overdrive. Visited this sushi restaurant while I was in Shreveport for work. Definitely enjoyed it! The menu included so many different options that everyone could find something they liked! We started with the fried gyoza and the monkey brain! The monkey brain was amazing! It was a whole avocado stuffed with snow crab and spicy tuna. Then it was deep fried and served with both spicy mayo and eel sauce. Definitely would order it again. I also ordered the firecracker roll and the beef tataki roll. Both were great but the beef on the beef tataki roll was perfect! It was seared just right and really gave the roll an amazing flavor. read more

It's a small hole in the wall place that needs updating but sometimes those are the best places to eat, not in this case. We ordered steamed dumplings which tasted like they came straight from Walmart freezer section, the heart attack jalapeños which were actually a nice nice and tasty but cold. The 007 and 911 rolls where made of imitation crab meat as most people use but they were slimy, very small for the price, and not very good. Then we ordered the playboy which was good but lacked flavor. For spicy tuna it was not spicy at all. Never got refills on drinks. read more
