One thing I didn't like was that I needed sashimi so I needed the dinner menu and they forced everyone else to be on the dinner menu even though they ordered stuff on the lunch menu. Just one way to get the whole table to pay more when only one person in the group Was avoiding rice. If I ever go back, it would be dinner so all guests wouldn't be shocked to pay more just because of me. That was one massive downside to this place. When you visit the restaurant you have a choice of ordering off the menu or going with the All You Can Eat (AYCE) option. Normally you would think the quality might be less, but it's not. Everything I tried was good. I tried as much as I could manage: Sushi rolls, hibachi chicken, hibachi steak, coconut shrimp, teriyaki snapper, tempura cheesecake, green tea ice cream, etc. Any one of these items I would order again. Went here on a Tuesday for dinner. This was my first time to Katy and I was so amazed by the area and the people here. We were greeted right away by our server. The place is big but they only have 2 servers working. The two servers that was there was very nice and attentive. They recommended us a lot of things and they reassured us to only order what we can handle since they do charge for leftovers. We went on to order most of the sashimi they offered, appetizers and rolls. Their fried crab puff is practically crab Rangoon and they're so so good; I ordered 3 ordered just for myself. I can't remember exactly what rolls we ordered but it was all good. The only thing I would say is that they out too much rice. If they balanced out the rice ratio, I would've enjoyed it even more. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but my experience here was frustrating enough to warrant one. The sushi itself was underwhelming -- the fish didn't taste fresh and the rice was dry and bland. But what really ruined the night was the service. We waited nearly 20 minutes just to get water, and even longer for someone to take our order. Our server seemed completely disinterested, barely checked on us, and when we asked a simple question about the menu, they acted like we were inconveniencing them. Plates were dropped off without a word, there was an older Asian lady, she was soooooo rude! a friend & I asked a question and she answered it, at the end, she said "I said what I said" excuse meeeee. It saddens me that I have to come to a point where I have to write a 1-star review. From reviews, this buffet is new and has been open for about a month or so. I drove about an hour to get here because I saw a few Facebook posts and some nice photos and reviews. Interior: There seems to be not much decoration in the restaurant and it looks like a run-down business. The logo on the wall seems pixelated as if it's a low-quality picture. This buffet is very small, I would say it holds about 15-20 tables. Service: On a Saturday night, only a few tables were there when we arrived, and to a max of about 7-10 tables that night. There were 4 people on the floor, 2 servers, 1 food runner/server/busgirl that does everything, and a busgirl. And then there are 2 sushi chefs; unsure how many people were in the kitchen. Our server, I believe her name is Mary (At least that's what it says on the ticket) does not speak English very well and has difficulty with the speed and the understanding of the customers. When we were ordering, she has a hard time finding the food items. I kept pointing at the tablet and telling her the location of the food item. The server also told us that we are restricted to having 2 pieces of sashimi per person per order. After we order a round of sashimi and appetizer, she told us that we ordered too much and will have to wait. After we got our sashimi, we finished it in about 1 minute because the food portion was so tiny. The size of the sashimi was not even 1/3 of a finger. We asked the server to order more, and she told us that she have to take care of the other people and I will have to wait. So repeatedly, we waited for the food. My mother was suggesting that we should not tip her and we should leave the buffet right away. I tried to be understanding and asked my parents to wait for it. On top of that, we started off with 1 napkin per person, and after multi attempts of asking for more napkins, we got an additional piece of napkin. The water was never refilled when it was all empty. We tried asking to see if the buffet have ponzu sauce, and after speaking to almost all of the staff on the floor, one of the busgirls finally bought it out for us. Note this! We ordered mussels 5 times, and out of the 5 times we ordered, we never got the order. On the 5th time, we asked about the mussel again, and the server then told us that it ran out. HUH???? Why wasn't this informed the first time we ordered? That's not the only items that we order and never received. There is also seafood soup, shrimp tempura, and beef tataki, just to name a few. Food: Sashimi, Nigiri The sashimi portion was super thin and not even 1 inch long. The texture of the sashimi can be described as slimy, and easily broken apart. I saw that the tuna was super pink and disgusting. Based on Google, this is frozen tuna and was treated with carbon monoxide, which can hide the freshness of the fish. Fresh tuna should look more dark red, and almost maroon. The scallop is super fishy, chewy, and not fresh at all. One can smell the fishy stench while it is on the table. (I do hope that we don't get food poisoning from eating at this buffet.) The nigiri portion was 80% rice and 20% protein. The rice was super sticky and mushy; unediable. Food: Dragon Roll, Geisha Roll Dragon Roll comes with Eel, barely see or taste any eels on there. Geisha Roll is topped with spicy salmon. The coloring of the salmon is as if it has been dyed. It's a super bright orange color, and the mango sauce tasted very sweet and artificial. Food: Appetizer: Takoyaki, Calamari, Mango Salmon Here they call it octopus ball, in which 5% octopus and 95% flour. The calamari taste like all batter and no squid. The mango salmon is very slimy. Food: Jalapeno Bomb vs Stutt Jalapeno Both of the items were on the appetizer page. We asked what was Stutt Jalapeno, and was told that it was meant to be Stuffed Jalapeno. We ordered both of the items and they look the same and taste the same. The server then told us it was the same thing and it was just heavier on the sauce? I really don't see why it is on the menu if it is the same thing. Does our server Mary actually work at this place? Im bamboozled. Beef: Tataki, Teriyaki & Hibachi It was nice to have a Tataki Beef on the appetizer menu and was expecting it to be good. Based on other Yelp Reviews, the tataki seems like a pretty big portion. But when it came to my table, it was super thin and was about a few centimeters long. I was shocked! The teriyaki beef sauce was super sweet. And lastly, the hibachi beef was diced in a super small size. All of the hibachi beef was well done and/or overcooked. TLDR: We are never coming back to this buffet again. I don't want to go to a sushi BUFFET and not get full; not to mention the horrible service. Can you imagine going to another restaurant after eating at this buffet? Spend an hour or so last night, celebrating my son's 28th birthday and he wanted to try this spot for a second time. There were at least eight of us on this visit so it took them a while, but our waitstaff was great! I had some chicken & shrimp hibachi which was pretty solid but it wasn't a great dish. My wife had the chicken noodles which were very fresh and very tasty for sure. My nephew had a Texan Roll which was okay but I'm sure he'll want to try something else the next time we stop by. This was the very first time I went to a restaurant by myself. Truthfully I can say the experience and food made me comfortable on my first outing solo. The ambiance was very simple, nice and quiet. The service was good, they checked on me quite often. The food was also good and hit the spot. The banana tempura was good, but not very flavorful. The banana nor batter had a sweet flavor. We came here for the all you can eat sushi. To be honest, this wasn't our first choice due to the decor on the inside, but our other spot that we wanted to go to didn't open until 5 PM. As soon as we walked in, someone greeted us and since we had a baby with us. She was a little confused on the highchair situation. She was kind of persistent on seating us near other tables, but since we had a child with us I wanted to be away from other tables so we wouldn't be in anybody's way. After she sat us at the table, I requested away from others. She came back to me and tried to move me back to the other side after I told her no for the second time, she finally let it go. That is why I'm only giving four stars. Other than that when she came to take our order, she was pretty sweet and the all you can eat sushi menu was pretty large. The sushi was good and very tasty. I go here often alone and have no issues. I was out with my family today and we called them to find out what time we needed to be there to have their lunch AYCE and the person who answered the phone said 3pm. We arrived at 2:30pm and I was greeted by someone who immediately told us that once it is past 3:30pm we could not order from their lunch menu any longer. I was confused because I always thought if you were there before their lunch hour cut off time you can continue to order from the lunch menu. We were not planning to order from their dinner menu, because if we did we would come during dinner hours. Honestly, I don't even think we would have taken a whole hour to eat, but I didn't like the fact that we were being forced to either pay the dinner price or leave at 3:30pm, because they would not serve us from the lunch AYCE menu anymore even though we got there at 2:30pm. I was upset and we left and went down the road to a place called Taizzi, and because of this experience I called them and asked when the cut off time for their lunch AYCE was. The man told me the same thing at 3pm. So we drove there and got there at 2:50pm and because we arrived during their lunch hours, they allowed us to order from their lunch menu past 4pm, because we were out as a family with the kids and we enjoyed hanging out and talking as we ate. We left Taizzi around 4:15pm very satisfied with the service and the food. I will never bring my family back to Sushi-Ichii based on their AYCE policy. We spent well over $100 including an 18% tip at Taizzi. Imagine arriving at Sushi-Ichii at 2:50pm which is within their advertised lunch hours, and they will not allow you to order anymore food (which takes them 10-20 minutes to bring to your table) at 3:30pm unless you pay the dinner price even if you ONLY WANT TO ORDER FROM THEIR LUNCH MENU! The point is you got there during their lunch hour so they can't force you to order from the dinner menu if you don't want dinner items! Just an FYI if you get there close to 3pm for lunch. read more

We ordered several sushi rolls and sashimi, and received the food quickly. I was pleased to find thick cuts of fresh tasting salmon sashimi which isn't always a given with AYCE places. The tuna was a little fishy but the other options well made up for it. Our waitress was attentive and frequently came by to check on us, which I appreciate. An AYCE may not sound like a great deal at $30/person, but we have found that the menu items and choices are so varied and there are multiple things for anyone (even if you don't "eat sushi"). We have been her several time and have never been disappointed. From traditional sushi (uncooked) to other roll options (fully cooked) to even hibachi style beef and chicken, as well as soups and appetizer items, it has all been good! This lovely place is family owned and the quality of sushi is the easily comparable to high end downtown Houston. They did run out of mussels on Saturday night at about 9-9:30pm but so does Steak 48 with certain steaks and back in the day Morton's with their 4.5 lobster tail I use to love at Morton's. And they've just opened so growing pains. I would pay $10 more for the all you can eat because the food is the best and you can literally order chicken fried rice and hibachi steak. Insane! They are hiring and I would imagine that they need one or two great personalities to wrap up the best sushi for this price in Houston. So be patient but don't wait. I normally spend $50-$60 at a sushi restaurant and you get way too much quality and amount here for they're tiny price right now. I came here on a Tuesday evening (5:30pm). The service was amazingly attentive. I ordered the All You Can Eat. That was the best choice! I started with Spicy Edamame and 6 Green Muscles. Both came out and we're home runs! The muscles flavor was savory and the temperature it was when delivered was perfect! The edamame was spicy as requested.
