My favorite place to eat every time I come to NC. Sublime uni and scallop spoons every time.

Another brilliant meal at Sushi in the Raw in Nevada City. The food, service (especially Narissa and Joshua...thank you!), drinks and background music were perfect. We've yet to find a sushi restaurant in Placer and Nevada Counties that begins to compare with this gem. In the photo from top left: Susan Roll, Unagi, Magnolia Cocktail, Truffle Sashimi, Kampachi Kama and Japanese Cabbage Salad! Even the magnolia in the cocktail was edible!

The spoons are amazing, especially the spicy yellowtail. So satisfying. Anything with scallops and truffle salt is amazing too. And the grilled salmon head is pure perfection. All the dipping sauce are wonderful and compliment the dishes so well. All in all everything we had was great. Service is a bit slow but attentive. Don't miss it!!

Hidden gem in Nevada City. Recommend reservation (inside or patio). We walked in around 6pm on Friday night and got lucky. We sat at the counter and were served right away. Started with a flight of sake, followed by sashimi (fresh), nigiri, and Kama (moist and delicious). We will have to come back to try other specialties.

What an all around fantastic place! Amazing food, amazing drinks & amazing service! Super cute restaurant with inside & outside seating. The food is beautifully plated with a wide choice of unique flavors. From their rolls, to their sashimi, to their salads - all super fresh. This is definitely our new sushi go to!

It's hard to get a reservation here, but it's a nice atmosphere. The fish was great, but the rice was dry and not cooked super well. We tried a lot of dishes. I'd come again, but I may stick to other sushi places in the area.

Best sushi restaurant in NorCal! As a native of LA , my bar is set pretty high when it comes to sushi bars. We don't mess around here on Ventura Blvd But Sushi in the Raw really proved itself with their unique rolls, fresh sashimi plates and attentive service! My best friend who lives in Nevada city told me it took her 3 weeks to get a reservation here.... So you can tell this place is high in demand ..... and I understand why!

kampachi kama -looks creepy but sooooooo good

Having been to the old Sushi in the Raw a gajillion times, I was apprehensive that nothing could live up to the place Susan and Ru had created. I do think no sushi restaurant can replace it, but the new Sushi in the Raw did pretty good. I was legitimately fearful after reading reviews: tiny portions, shmucky arrogant staff and a crappy decor. Well, thank goodness some Yelpers are wrong. A new bigger space with some personality welcomes you when you arrive. The portions are ample and we didn't even get sushi but left so full! We had a delightful hostess and an even friendlier waitress. The inside is thoughtfully decorated with random Japanese items and the huge windows give great light. It was packed when we left at 7pm-ish. The new owners will obviously never replace what Susan and Ru brought to Nevada City but they sure are killing it as a bigger and new local restaurant. Absolutely we will return.

The food is a easy 9 our of 10 and the kindness of the servers is super refreshing. That being said I have somewhat mixed feelings about this place. My wife and I had a reservation for 630 and we arrived right on time and were told we needed to go outside and wait, which is fine, but we were waiting almost 15 mins and the thing that got to us what another couple walked in about 5 mins after we sat outside and they got seated right away. Strange but we looked past that because we were excited to try the sushi. And let me just say, wow! Fresh, tasty melody of ingredients that I would easily eat again and again no issues at all. The only other thing that was a turn off was that they only send out 1 roll at a time and they took about 10 mins between each roll and it was awkward because the first two rolls were ones I ordered and my wife was going to be just sitting there waiting for hers for 20-30mins to we ended up sharing them all which worked out but it was just strange how they bring them out so slowly. Our whole dinning experience from arriving at the restaurant to leaving took over an hour and we knew what we wanted when we sat down. I would say expect delays because it's a small establishment but it actually looks kinda decent sized for a restaurant. All that said, I'd definitely go back but I would maybe ask if we could get more then one roll out at one time so we both can enjoy them. I wonder if they do boats even because that would be a fun experience too. Anyways, here are some pictures of the 5 rolls we got. I'd recommend them all. Oh and the mood in the restaurant is chill but super loud with everyone talking over each other. But it was overall a 7.9 out of 10 experience for us. My wife said 8.5 out of 10.

It's huge, largely empty, and quiet, perfect for a contemplative experience with your food. At dinnertime on a Friday my nearest neighbors were twenty feet away kneeling at a Japanese-style low table. I got to vibe in the quiet background music and the distant Friday night sounds of downtown. I tried the pork ramen, which felt a bit Americanized (kale, corn, shiitake mushrooms, green onions, half a ramen egg, and spicy ground meat in what appears to be a vegetable broth), but had surprising heat build-up as I ate and a pleasant aftertaste. The real highlight was the tea service. I ordered some red chai, which was served with a small teapot to table-steep it in; a carafe of hot water; and a tea box to pour out the first wash into. The server walked me through the process and the tea was fantastic, with a marvelous spice balance. Next time I think I'll try the poke bowl the other reviewers have enjoyed. Happy Mother's Day!!…read more Today for Mother's Day, we decided to celebrate with my neighbor and have the best sushi in town here at Jinme. Jinme is consistent. Delicious every single time... so tonight, we celebrated with my daughter. We sat right away and how gorgeous was it tonight!? Balloons, streamers, and Mother's Day table cloths. After a little bit, our server came over and we ordered sunomono and vegetable tempura. Their vegetable tempura was a mixture of the vegetables, in one. Like a birds nest. It came with 4 pieces and a dipping sauce. It was different, but very good. The sunomono (cucumber salad) was cut in half into thin slices without the seeds, and the dressing on it was delicate and went so good with the cucumbers. Quite a bit of time had passed and we were given some complimentary spring rolls to snack on. The sauce it came with was a little spicy & sweet. We ordered a Simba roll, Auburn City roll, 49ers Roll, the Ultimate Roll, and salmon sashimi. All looked fantastic! The sashimi came with miso (as an appetizer). We will ended up sharing everything with each other. I really like that baked salmon roll (Simba). It has a sweet mayo on top. The Salmon Sashimi is my favorite bc the salmon on top is made with high quality salmon belly. The freshness makes me crave this often. The 49ers roll was delicious. It was different from your regular sushi rolls with rice in the outside. it had an entire cucumber casing on the outside of it. The Auburn Roll has thick pieces of red rings and salmon throughout... what a dream... Lastly, we ordered moochi ice cream and deep fried strawberry ice cream... both were out of this world!! This was the first time I have ordered dessert here and it was phenomenal! Strawberry just gets me! Our service was great! The decorations were a cute touch, too. Our server greeted us right away and was very sweet and attentive. You could tell she was still in training, but everything went smoothly. The only small thing I would suggest is having more napkins at the table, since we were only given one per plate and ended up needing a few more during the meal. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. The tempura was light and crispy, and the unagi was savory and satisfying with egg ribbons in the rice. I think it might be one of the best bento boxes I've had in a long time. Overall, we had a great experience at Azayaka Japanese Fusion. The food was delicious, the service was warm, and we would definitely come back to try more dishes.

First, I want to say the chef was younger, but he put alot of care and effort into each dish, so he should definitely be acknowledged. However, as soon as we walked in, there was no greeting from both of the female servers, only cold stares. Many servers do not give great service to younger tables and assume they won't tip. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. Also, as a recent graduate, I brought my cap to receive a $15 gift card for their promotion. Instead, she gave a "neighborhood" discount (10% off which made it $10 off). I didn't mention anything since I did not feel like coming back to this location. Then I looked at the receipt, wrote a 20% tip, but this was where I felt scammed. It's difficult to explain and I wish I took a picture, but please check your math on the suggested tip. Total with discount: $98 Previous Total: $108 Suggested Tip: 20% = $20 and Suggested Total: $128 I don't mind tipping $20, but the suggested total would include a $30 tip? I don't know if it's intentional and the server wanted to pocket the discount as her tip, but it did not feel fair. We had two younger kids with us and I didn't want them to notice, so we just left after paying. We been to the Sacramento location many times, but their Roseville location was disappointing. Horrible service.
