It was one of the first restaurants I started going to when I became 1. old enough to go out by myself and 2. could afford to eat out by myself. Why would I still be going to a three-star reviewed restaurant. Well, a part is due to my history with the place but if I want to be perfectly honest with myself (and with you), it is because of the unique and creative nature of the special rolls. Location: It is very colorful and quaint. It is conveniently located by two malls - Queens Center Mall and Queens Place Mall. After a long day of shopping (or window-shopping), you can drop by instead of eating cafeteria food. Also, you will find that there are other shoppers around you - so during some busier hours, it can noisy. Since the space is fairly small, it does get a little hectic but manageable! Service: I found myself stuck with this word of OKAY because the service is usually a different assortment of waitresses. Some are more monotone than others. There is one occasion where my sister and I were served by a really friendly and amicable waitress. All in all, decent. Food: The sashimi was good as is the sushi, salads, and beverages (the thai iced tea is very sweet). It is not amazingly brilliant but okay. Thus, the three star rating. Even though that we have been going to this place during and after COVID, their food can be best described as something coming from your local Japanese place. Although we first went to this place after the local Japanese restaurant closed down for Sai, we decided to get our Japanese fix at this similar place. However, their quality has declined since the pandemic began. Sometimes, here and there, we are sometimes missing a salad or soup, but didn't like the conditions inside the restaurant when the first wave of COVID peaked during April-May. It was crowded with little ventilation, with people packed like sardines with little or no social distancing. In terms of the food, the nabeyaki udon was only okay, but order it regularly due to the ramen being subpar. For the salad and miso soup, it was very baseline, nothing to get too excited about. For the teriyaki, the chicken and sometimes the salmon is dry, and rarely can eat the whole thing, and the same could be applied to the katsus. However, the rolls for at least $3 each (8 rolls) are good and affordable, with some of my favorites being the eel mango and the salmon skin roll. They have sushi specials for $1 a piece but they are terrible. The tuna I got was light pink in color. The salmon in the hand roll had a piece of bone in it, which meant they weren't even using sushi style fish. I would give this place one star but at least the server was nice and kind. read more

Even though this isn't a ramen shop, I love this ramen when they make it right. It comes with a generous portion of noodles, three pieces of naruto, bean sprouts, scallions and duck. I went today and it came out warm. The duck skins where also pretty fatty but it's still a $8.50 well spent. -----About the service They are very nice people and I haven't had a bad service here. Fish is fair but hamachi is smell yucky and it's tiny pieces that together not a piece( I feel like I got chopped hamachi. Totally sucks and I won't recommend anyone to order. Love the sushi here! Ive gone recently with my family and friends and the wait time to get seated is quite long when going during rush hour as the place isn't as large. While seated I saw many orders made for pick up or delivery. The service is good but also average. Would definitely order again, but probably for delivery or pick up. read more

Rolls average about $3. Special rolls for the most part were between $6-$10. The best I tried was the Bermuda which was spicy, crunchy grilled salmon, cucumber, avocado and mango. Even bottled beer is only $3. That alone is a steal. Spicy mayo was decent. Nothing fancy. They have a sushi bar you can sit at and a couple of tv's placed in the corners of the restaurant. Located directly above the subway so you can actually feel your table vibrate every few minutes. At first I thought it was my cell phone or even an earthquake, but don't be alarmed you are safe...lol. I used to love this place because they had the good deal for three rolls for a discounted price. I went there today to get a quick dinner with my friend and there was no wait time at all before we were seated and the waitress took our order. We ordered the yellowtail carpaccio and a bunch of rolls; the yellowtail carpaccio came first, and they looked beautiful and tasted good too! My friend said it was a bit too salty since they might have overdone it on the yuzu sauce, but I have no complaints. When our rolls arrived, my friend's rolls looked fine, but mine looked subpar. I understand your rolls are inexpensive and customers get a good deal, but at least present them well. I ordered a salmon roll and a tuna roll, and the salmon roll looked decent enough, but the tuna roll pieces were just a sad mess. First of all, 75% (aka 6 out of 8 pieces) of the tuna were a sad, almost colorless gray-pink color--tuna is supposed to be a rich deep pink/red color. It tasted fine, but come on... even the roll itself was poorly put together with portions fit for a mouse--think of a piece of tuna the size of your pinky fingernail for a few of the roll pieces. The roll was falling apart because it either wasn't rolled tightly enough or... here's a thought: maybe there's not enough fish in the roll! I would give this place a total of 3 stars, only because the service was good and yellowtail carpaccio was so good! I hope if they look at this review they will tell their sushi chefs to step it up and give decent rolls that they can be proud of :( read more
