I'm still not fully decided on this place. I came here a month ago with some girlfriends after shopping and while the food was delicious to a degree, there was a lingering smell of cat piss that just would not dissipate no matter how long we sat there. The window seat was cute, but it was hotter indoors than it was outside, which was a little crazy, we were literally rolling beads of sweat while eating and not from the spice. We got a few appetizers and some main courses. I have the pad see ew and vegetable dumplings which both were lovely. You're not coming here for the service honestly, as there was close to none, I must've called the server at least a dozen times and he was in his phone chilling. I am a very picky Thai food eater. Coming from the NW we were spoiled rotten. It has taken me many tries in NY to find my spots. And a couple years ago my boyfriend and I tried this place on a whim and it was amazing. We just really can't get enough. We are also lucky because there's two of us. So we get to try two entrees but get half of both. The perfect masterplan. This place is never busy for dine in. I see a lot of food delivery pick ups while we sit and enjoy our meal. The feel at the restaurant is calm, clean and attentive. The staff is always on point. We scan the QR code, but always know we will be ordering the Rose Rangoons, the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and the Massaman Curry with tofu. Every bite is always as delicious as one can remember it. My boyfriend can literally drink that curry sauce. I love the little peanuts in the curry. A little surprise. I took my sister here with her daughter on Sunday and they were blown away. My niece was headed back to college on Monday so I am so happy they had a great time. My niece loved the veggie curry puffs so much that we had to do another order. It made me so happy that they were happy and that we have this beautiful memory here. Chachawan in Ridgewood has become one of our go-to spots. We've dined in a few times and also ordered delivery, and the food has been consistently excellent across the board. The menu offers a large variety of dishes, all full of flavor and perfectly executed. On our most recent visit, I had the duck (amazing--crispy skin, tender meat), and my wife had the whole fish, which was cooked beautifully. Everything had the perfect amount of spice--flavorful without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the papaya salad (bright and refreshing) and I had the chive pancake, which was crisp and satisfying. In past visits or delivery orders, we've tried the Moo Yang Over Ric (grilled marinated pork), Hat Yai Fried Chicken, and the Crispy Three Flavors Duck--all excellent, with generous portions and very reasonable prices. Service is always polite, efficient and reliable. The decor is simple and low-key, but that's part of the charm--it keeps the focus on the food. Recently found this spot and I'm so happy I did! Ive been here twice so far and both times everything was great. Ive tried the Penang curry, thai fried rice, the fried chicken (to die for!) and the chilli garlic crispy pork. All solid dishes that I would order again. We also tried the shrimp rolls and we LOVED the warm coconut pudding!! Probably my favorite bite so far. They also have great Thai iced teas, not too sweet and not too bitter. This is what I love about New York. We went to a brand new Thai restaurant in Ridgewood (of all places) knowing that there are like three other Thai places close by. This place is pretty empty with just one other party. Just one waitress. Pretty small operation. Expectations were not super high or anything, but it turns out that the food here is phenomenal. I can see this place getting popular very quickly. The Pad See Ew was silky smooth.. some of the best I've had. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the Crispy Three Flavors Fish. So crispy, juicy, and oh so flavorful. If you like spicy foods, the mild will be perfect. Thai food can get overly spicy.. even the medium spicy is a lot. All in all, the food here is exceptional. The pad thai is very similar to how we had it in Phuket - it's more saucy, more brown than the drier red/orange colored version that some places serve. The beef pad see euw was amazing. It was certainly our favorite dish of the two. The pad see euw is very saucy, sweet and smoky flavor. I absolutely loved the juicy rice noodles which were cooked so well. The proteins were slightly dry but the noodles more than made up for it. (Order this if you like beef)! The mango salad was different and refreshing. It was pieces of mango, red onion, tomatoes, little bit o' lettuce sprinkled with pepper flakes. I think it is a great way to lighten to palette when eating the heavier/saucier noodle dishes. The interior decor is a mix of what looks like thrift furniture and decorations. We fell in love with the glasses they serve you in, which seem like they were thrifted. We got Crispy Three Flavors Duck, Pineapple Fried Rice, Kra Pao Moo Krob (Pork Belly) with Lychee Ice Tea. I'd highly recommend the Kra Pao Moo Krob. I still crave it randomly. I could not believe how cheap this food was. I wanted to try out a new Thai place, specially in Ridgewood (because Tasty Thai is not too far from here and my go to delivery place). The restaurant is small and intimate, which I love. The service was so individualized because there were few people in there, which I don't understand because the food was DELICIOUS. The mussels are in a basil butter garlic sauce that is so savory, but not too salty at all. It was my first time having a crispy crusted dumpling, and wow. Definitely will reorder. We also ended up getting the pad Thai, which is standard at most places. I like how it was saucy enough (not too saucy that it's overwhelming). I can't even decide which was my favorite, but this iced tea was great. She described it as the Thai Ice Tea but without the milk (which is half and half) and after all that great food, definitely needed something light and refreshing to top it off. I tried the Pok Pok noodle and wanted to write a review so others don't have to go Googling what it is because it's really hard to find online. Basically, it's the thinner rice noodle used for Pad Thai, and the sauce is nice and garlicky. You have to mix it yourself to get all the sauce that is on the bottom as well as all the Asian Broccoli pieces. I would say the sauce is pretty similar to what is used in pad see ew, only slightly different in taste and even more garlicky as well as a little more liquidy, and it comes with what seems like a (pleasant and light) veggie broth as a side.
