Updating my review to include my carry out experiences: I prefer the carry out over dining in. The ordering process through their website is very simple, they've always been accurate with my order. The BOGO roll special still applies for online ordering--which also includes hand rolls, nigiri, and sashimi too. Due to the popularity of this location, I much prefer to get in and out with my food as opposed to standing in a packed line waiting for a table. My only complaint is that when I go in to pick up an order, it's very chaotic and crowded. Sometimes I have to wait awkwardly for 8 or so minutes to get someone's attention without being rude. I've caught a side eye or two from patrons who thought I was trying to cut their place in line when I was just trying to get my order haha. I think the carry out quality is very good, and they make sure I have plenty of soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi. For the past 6 years, I visited Iwa every months. On March 9th 2020 was the worst day. Trying to support local business and ordered food at 5:22pm. Show up at 5:50pm, because it was promise around 30mins. Gave my name and wait it outside, waiter came out three times never mention anything to me for 15mins. I asked for my order and she went to check again. 10mins go by she came out twice never speak to me, then I asked again. She asked what is my phone number and I provided my phone #. She came back to say they can't find my order! I show her my phone that I called at 5:22pm, then she when back just to come out and tell me that they are making my order now. I asked, "did you know what is my order?" She didn't reply to me and just walked in. The manager came out and told me they are making my order now. The lady that is doing the reception didn't even wear the mask and was rude. The manage never came out again and I didn't see the reception either. No apology at all. Maybe Iwa is too busy to care. The food is getting worse and prices keeps going up. They even forgot the fry wonton for my hot and sour soup. Taking my business to other places, but never Iwa. I don't know how this place had 4 stars because it is barely worth 2 stars to me. To begin, we were seated by a reluctant hostess that didn't say hi or want to make eye contact with us. Then we sat a our table for 25 minutes without anyone talking to us. I asked for water and the waiter half acknowledged me while walking away. After a waitress dropped off our water without saying anything, we waited another 5 minutes before she came back and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. So over half an hour in, and I can't even get a drink! It was probably another 10 before I got the drink I ordered and it tasted great - just not worth the wait. My boyfriend's curry on the other hand: had rubbery chicken that I thought was fish when I first saw it, potatoes that tasted like they were seasoned for a different dish and then randomly put into the curry, and cashews that were just weird! The menu is almost like a photo album; it has pictures of all of their offerings, which makes it easier (or harder) to make your selection. Curries and other entrees come with a choice of miso soup or salad (I love their miso soup!), and a choice of white or brown rice. So freaking good! I also got the jalapeño chicken entrée which was so spicy. I probably wouldn't get that again. My wife got two sushi rolls (bagel roll and crunchy roll). I have wanted to try this place for a while because of the great reviews but what a disappointment. Maybe the kitchen had "off" day but they lost me as a customer. We had lunch sushi deluxe and kung pao chicken, unfortunately both dishes were underwhelming. Sushi looked good with big pieces of fish but it kept falling apart and tuna roll had very uneven pieces. It also had slight fishy taste what fresh sushi won't have. Kung pao chicken was very underwhelming, boring color dish swimming in sauce. It was overly packed with water chestnuts. Really gone down hill. I have tried to be really understanding throughout the pandemic because all the eating establishments have gone through so much. So when the last few take-out meals were less than stellar I let it go because I know they are probably understaffed and it's hard to get ingredients. Tonight however not only was the sushi falling apart and void of flavor there was some sort of flat bone in my tuna. The fish on both rolls were mushy so I took the fish off snd just ate the base rolls. The hot and sour soup that used to get rave reviews for me tasted worse than the ones I've gotten from fast food Chinese restaurants. I think I'm gonna have to let this restaurant go. They usually have a really good side salad but today it was basically 2 hunks of iceberg lettuce and very runny watery ginger dressing. We threw that out. I will say my husbands General tso chicken was still good And he enjoyed it but I will not be ordering anything rlse from here again. I did call not to get anything free but to let them know about the fish in hopes that They might check there's stock. But the woman on the phone cut me off several times and then handed me off to someone and I was on hold so long I decided to hang up. Before she even heard what I had to say she offered me credit for the next meal. I will never understand why restaurants think giving something free when your quality has gone down yet somehow OK. Luv this place I've been coming here for years. I've learned they are best for their sushi and apps. (Just my opinion) So, today I went for lunch and had to send back both my app and entree. We had a great server Matthew, just wanted to throw that in there. I ordered Pad See Eew and Summer Rolls. Summer roll had a tiny piece of shrimp, tons of cucumber, tons of lettuce, little or no basil, little noodles, poorly wrapped. I've had these at many places (plus I can make them myself), these were my least favorite. I requested the broccoli in the Pad See Eew to be tender and that's not what I got. So I sent it back. Finally got it back about 15-20 mins later and I didn't have much flavor. Oh well I just asked for extra sauce, which I got right away. Thx Matt! Now, my Bestie ordered the Chang Mai Noodles. It was awesome! (But she wasn't impressed with the side ginger side salad ) My biggest issue is that a manager never once came to the the table to check on the returned items.
