I came here with my friends while I was in the area. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. However, it does make me uncomfortable when they are serving soup and the soup touches the tips of their fingers. It just feels a little unsanitary and makes me uncomfortable drinking it especially during with the pandemic. Since I don't really eat seafood, I ordered a lot of their vegetarian/meat dishes. I got the chicken teriyaki kitchen dish and chicken tempura roll. I thought they were pretty good and flavorful. I didn't think the rolls were too special though, so I feel like 4 stars best describes it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi ans can eat a lot! The AYCE sushi is really good here! So fresh. The price is really fair too. $25 per adult. There's so many options to choose from as well. I like getting the spring rolls and the gyoza. My expectations for Sushi King were pretty high considering the great reviews they had on Yelp, but I was pretty disappointed. My boyfriend & I made reservations to come here for AYCE sushi for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was pretty busy for indoor dining, take out, & delivery service; so I thought it MUST be good. Service was not good; they seemed very unorganized & unhappy. When we got seated, the server asked for our drinks and never came back with them. Instead, she seated other guests and got their drink orders while I had to ask her for drinks after we were waiting for some time. We were never checked up on, asked for refills on drinks, and the servers reached over our plates of food to drop off more food, causing them to touch our food. The food looked decent, but it was not fresh and missing flavor. The sashimi was okay. The sushi rolls was underwhelming. In the end, I would not come back here but will travel somewhere else for better sushi quality. My bf and I both agreed that we had been to a better AYCE sushi place in the same area with better quality and service. read more

We went here for lunch. You order from the menu and they'll bring the food out. The noodles and miso soup are extremely bland. The sushi has too much rice and over seasoned. All we could taste was the seasoning from the rice on the sushi. If the rice is not prepared correctly it will ruin the taste of the sushi. I had VERY HIGH expectations based on this place having 4.5 stars on yelp. It seems that the 4.5 star average is because the majority of the people have yet to try good quality sushi. The Green Tea and Red Bean Ice cream were very good. The Bad: The Service is ATROCIOUS. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. I thought Sakana gave the worst service for AYCE restaurants, but Sushi King takes the crown for worst service in NJ. And I have been to almost all the big name AYCE Spots. They throw the pens, menus, on the table. You thank them for clearing plates or refilling your drinks and they don't reply, they never say a word. These are not servers, they are non-trained food runners. The sushi quality was not as good as I expected. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't as good as some of the other AYCE spots, considering they charge $22.95 all day. The sushi to rice ratio was the worst I have ever seen. I will post a picture that clearly shows what I am talking about rice to fish ratio. It's insane. It's like a rice hoagie with a tiny slab of fish on top. The 2 hour round trip drive wasn't worth it. The gas expenses weren't worth it. The tolls weren't worth it. The cost of the meal wasn't worth it. Like a 15 minute drive from Philly. Sushi here is honestly hit or miss, but you should definitely expect them to go a little crazy with the rice (probably with the intention of filling you up faster.) As AYCE goes in the area, this is the most affordable, without a real noticeable difference in quality. They have some yummy apps you can order. Gyoza, shrimp Tempura, takoyaki, and other standard fare. Sushi is not excellent, but hey, it's AYCE. read more

I had been wanting sushi for weeks. But this fragile memory of mine keep forgetting!! Well, I was fortunate enough to be in the Cherry Hill area when I started searching Yelp friends reviews for dinner when I saw a few reviews for Sushi King.... Not just sushi. But AYCE sushi!! So off I went. This was exactly what I had needed. Where else can you order sushi items that you've never had before or didn't want to shell out the money without knowing that you'd enjoy it? This is the place!! I had a little, or a lot of most everything. Sashimi. Sushi. Maki. Special rolls. Soup. No salad. Appetizers. No tempura or hibachi dishes. And dessert. The rookie in me had initially ordered sushi and maki, forgetting that the rice would keep me from enjoying all of the sashimi I wanted. The fish was fresh and generous sized portions. If you're a fan of pulpo or pulpo salad, you know how expensive it can be per pound. One of the diamonds in the rough here is the bbq squid. This not only was delicious. But it was a fairly large portion. A great deal that comes with the purchase... I ended my meal with red bean ice cream and fresh fruit. The ice cream was another item that I've never had before. I loved the flavor of this dessert. Not a bad way to end my meal.... I hadn't been in a food coma like this since I sat down for a hot pot meal about 5 years ago!! My expectations were very low given that their spot in the CVS shopping plaza sat empty for...well, I moved here over a year ago and back then I remember seeing a sign on torn notebook paper written in marker on the window that simply said "sushi king," leading me to think this was the shell of a failed restaurant. But I digress. If you like sushi and other Japanese cuisine (I don't believe these proprietors are Japanese if you're a stickler for "authenticity,") give Sushi King a try. I had the Philly roll, it was tasty, fresh and had avocado which is a plus (cucumber sucks unless it's in tzatziki). For our appy, we tried beef negimaki. It was served piping hot and tasted delicious. Nice and scalliony! Rolls were $5 and change, although the lunch prices are lower. There's also an all you can eat option for you gluttons out there. Service was good, water was refilled several times. Bathroom was clean and the restaurant is quite spacious. As a bonus, it's also BYOB! I hope Sushi King doesn't get lost in the shuffle, as there are 2 other take out spots right next to it that serve cuisine from China and Vietnam. I was weary only because usually the prices of specialty sushi rolls are around $13ish - $15 and the prices of their specialty rolls were around $8... but I was happily surprised with my order! I just moved to the area and was comparing sushi places. Went with this one only because prices were the best and figured, why not, reviews weren't bad so just went with it. They practiced very low contact and seem to be following guidelines to accommodate the "new normal". They changed the entrance of their restaurant so that it was only a takeout window. Called in the order and took around 20 minutes. Order was ready and pickup was quick. Probably was in contact with the guy for a few minutes just to pay. Easy peasy! Haven't done ayce since the pandemic. I brought my teens here for a mid-week-lets-do-something-fun. This is probably our favorite all you can eat sushi in the area. Service isn't super slow like at this one other place we used to go to (which we knew was intentional- so people would order less!). Only one hiccup was we mentioned life threatening food allergies. One server didn't understand so they did the right thing and went to their manager. He was on it and conveyed it to the chefs for us. However one of the sauces that came out was a peanut sauce. We recognized it and kept it away from my kid with the allergy. They also realized it later and came over, owned it and apologized which I appreciate. But yeah maybe if they can work on that moving forward it would be wise for the business? It could have been really dangerous/bad. But we'll still come back as we enjoy being able to get a variety of sushi! read more

Sushi King is my family's go-to for quality sushi (along with their competitor with a similar name but a few extra letters tacked on). I usually don't like octopus sashimi because it can be like chewing on rubber bands, but their seafood was so fresh tender that I didn't experience any of that chewiness at all -- moist and tender, completely changed my view on octopus sashimi. Came here on a Tuesday night since we were starving and craving sushi. Got seated right away even though they were crowded, and was served waters immediately. Quick service which was nice! We ordered just a few things in the beginning since they'll charge you extra if you don't finish all your food. They will keep bringing back paper menus for you to fill out if you want more food which is nice, so it's easy to estimate how much you want to eat without wasting food. There are a lot of vegetarian options which is great! I would highly recommend the sweet potato roll. It was crunchy, had great flavor, and I was tempted to order a second. The peanut avocado roll I would skip, it was good at first but after a few pieces the flavor gets old. Definitely order heavy on the apps since the portions are tiny (ie: an order of spring rolls is "2 pieces" but they just cut 1 spring roll in half). So if you love fried apps definitely get 2-3 of each at a time. The apps took about 5 min to come out and sushi took about 15 min. Overall the prices and service was great for AYCE sushi. $22 M-Th and $25 F-Sun. Would definitely come back! read more

Decent selection for AYCE, more than other places I've been to, especially like that you can get Takoyaki (though you do have to specify multiple on the slip with multiple check marks, or they'll just bring you a single piece). Roll selection is very nice as well. Only thing is, I thought that the rolls overall lacked flavor. I wanted to like the place more but the rolls just tasted a bit bland to me personally and I tried like 5 different varieties. They also were supposed to have a 10% off promo going but when I asked about it they said it didn't work or something which was a bit off-putting. Don't advertise a customer appreciation discount if you aren't going to actually honor it. I even clicked the sign up button and they never e-mailed me anything. At least they are a couple bucks cheaper than other AYCE sushi places in south jersey (if you go on a weekday). All in all it was just okay. I give em 5 stars for variety, but flavor was lacking so gotta give em 3 for that. So overall is a 3.5 stars. On occasion, the kids beg to skip a meal or two in exchange for eating obscene amounts of sushi! So much that it blows my mind! It's both fascinating and kinda disgusting. They love it though, so... Sushi King came highly recommended by a few friends for an AYCE meal and so we went....and it did not disappoint! The rolls were super fresh and the specialty rolls were unique! The gyoza was cooked crisp to perfection. Perhaps the best gyoza I've had to date. It had nice chunks of veggies and full edamame beans inside. The tempura was all hot, breaded perfectly in Panko and super crispy. Pumpkin was a favorite (and got me so excited for fall!!) Yum! The age tofu was delish and well liked by our crew, as were they crispy spicy crab rolls. They do have peanut avocado rolls, which isn't always easy to find, but an absolute fan favorite with the kiddos. The Teriyaki flavor was very present on those dishes. It was sweet and sticky with a hint of smoke. The salmon was raved about and had crispy edges. The mushroom soup was delicious and had me wanting to return in winter for a whole quart! So simple yet so flavorful! The gang ended the meal with ice cream. Green tea & red bean were stand out flavors. Many veggie options!! Easy to dine here as a vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian. I love that (besides the rolls) they give smaller portions of every dish so you can really try a lot without being overly and grossly stuffed. Small plates and sharing is my favorite way to dine.
